Firmware update/restore issues

I got the iPhone3g and transferred/restored from backup my contacts to the new phone from my 1st gen iPhone. When I upgraded the firmware today the backup got corrupted and I had to restore it from the backup of the my 1st gen. Now after updating, restoring, and completing the whole deal iTunes reverts to the "an iPhone has been previously synced with this computer" screen and it repeadedly prompts me to restore the iPhone again. Any suggestions to cure this problem (besides switching out the SIM cards...though I'm not sure if that will work)

That is helpful. but I donno much about the servicing and all.. Is there a way to fix this...
Actually the device is with OS 5.0 so before using it I tried to update to the latest 5.1.1 using iTunes..
but in Net some peoples says that it is an illegal operation that caused error code -1..
I am worried as this is the second day of my first idevice and I am not been able to see even its homescreen..
Kinldy let me know if there is some way I can resolve it..

After this update all apps should be updated in your case may be its not happened. You can uninstall & re-install the applock. It will start working. While uninstalling dont delete any app data so that it should fetch your old passwords etc.

Time Capsule (brand new) needed Firmware update, now issues still

I have just updated my firmware on the Time Capsule, (I did figure out why I was getting an earlier error on my Time Capsule when an error popped up that "Time Machine couldn't complete the backup to my TIme Capsule because the "backup image was already in use". I finally saw the number or exclamation mark (I forget) and it stated it needed a firmware update (wish it would download them automatically). After I did that though, I am backing up my iMac.
I have to take my iMac to Apple today in Tampa and drop it off to replace the HD per the replacement program of a recall so I have to make sure the backup is complete. I also want to make sure my iPHone is backed up and so I was told when I bought Time Capsule that it would also wirelessly sync up all my Apple wireless devices.
I was told to use Airport Utility, but that doesn't seem to work at ALL now and I'm not sure why. As of Feb. 7th, that was updated and it seems to have caused problems for many.
I am in v. 1.2 and just deleted it and added it back in.
How can the Time Capsule allow my iPhone to access it through Airport Utility? Was there a setting I am missing?
HELP with the Time Capsule backup, the iPhone (and then my daughter's iPod, my iPad and that's about it) backing up wirelessly through Airport Utility.

Your idevices do not backup directly to the TC.. nor does the Airport Utility do anything but setup the TC.
Time Machine is the backup for the Mac.
The devices like iphone are backed up to itunes or cloud..
The itunes is then backed up by TM to the TC.. so it is indirect.

Let me also suggest you do a disk image of the mac. You will find this is much easier to recover your working mac from.. in fact get a USB drive is even better and download superduper.. you can do free disk images from it, but they can also be done from disk utility. Make a bootable USB drive which is an image of your existing internal drive. That can be easily restored to the Mac when you get it back.

X3-02 Firmware update, restoring fail

Hi, I just did the last firmware update on my X3-02, it seemed to have gone fine but I'm unable the restore the parameters I previously saved. It starts alright, but stops in the middle of the process claiming it has connection problems, and advising that I restart my device and try again (which I did of course). Is it a known problem? Is there a way to restore my content? Thanks already, JD

Nokia 5800 XM failed firmware update/GPS issues

Hello.
I'm currently having issues with my Nokia 5800. Firstly whenever attempting to update the firmware through the Nokia Ovi Suite, it fails with an "Error in the software update package configuration" error. I've read around on the forums, and I've noticed that other people have had a similar problem, but no real answer was given other than "I solved it, but I won't bother telling you how". There must be other ways to update the Nokia firmware than just relying on the Ovi Suite.
Also my GPS on the phone never manages to get a signal, no matter how much in the open I am. I'm assuming that this is probably due to the fact that I haven't updated the firmware, but if anyone else has any ideas why this is happening feel free to let me know!

Hi, I was having the same problem but I found that if you use the Nokia Software Updater rather than the Ovi Suite it installs fine!

N73 Firmware Update & Restore of Phonebook/Message...

I recently updated my N73 Firmware to 3.0704.1.0.1. As you know when upgrading it wipes the phone. When I restarted I restored my last backup from Nokias PC Suite to get names/numbers/messages transfered over again to the phone. Unfortunatly in doing this it seems to have removed some of the new firmware features (clock with 'am/pm' screensaver etc.). Do any of you know how to get this back? I've had a look in settings but can't see anything.

I've understood it's quite normal that the update prosedure may seem to stop even for some minutes and then go on again. The connection between the phone and computer will also break and then reconnect couple of times...
Are you sure, you did wait long enough before unplugging your phone (at least some minutes)?
But if your phone has the new firmware now and everything is working fine so I hope there is no problem!

Solutions to iOS 5 update/restore issue?

Is there any solution to the iOS 5 issue other than to keep trying to restore? I'm on about my 8th go-round and I'm still getting the same errors. I've updated all my software, restarted my macbook and generally tried everything else I can think of. I have an iphone 4 if that makes a difference.

first unplug your iphone from the computer/restart computer/ plug iphone back in/
itunes will recognise and say "must restore"
you must just keep trying to restore, it will finally happen, and no matter
what it looks like you will not lose any data at all.

IOS4.01 update restore issue

So here's the deal....
I updated my 3GS to iOS 4 with no real issue. Then 2 weeks ago itunes updated it to 4.01 and that's when my Iphone got locked in restore. I tried several times to restore the phone, but it kept hanging in the same place. I even left it over night.
I took it to the O2 shop, they sent it off for repair and after 2 weeks sent me a new 3GS. That was yesterday and today I've synced it with Itunes and the 4.01 update and exactly the same thing has happened. I don't really want to send off my phone again and be without it for 2 weeks. Has anyone else experienced this or does anyone have any suggestions for how I can repair it / reverse what I've done at home. It seems to me that it's something to do with my computer as its too much of coincidence to happen to 2 Iphones. As far as I'm aware I have all the latest software etc.
Any help or tips greatly appreciated.

Try uninstalling and re-installing iTunes. Also delete the downloaded update files in case they have been corrupted. On Windows 7 they are here:

Update/restore issue (extracting software)

so i was originally operating on a 7.1.2 software and decided to finally update
but when doing so as i go to either update or restore the status bar at the top saying "Extracting Software" it stays in the same spot with no sign of the bar making progress, the itunes is on a windows and its an iphone5s, the i tunes is fully updated and ive tried restarting, note my phone is stuck in recovery mode, somone please help me as my phone is very work based and the whole reason i avoided updating is to avoid an issue like this...

Latest Firmware Update Issues with Screen Sensitivity

Hi All,
I synced my original iphone a few days ago and it required a firmware update. Since then, I have had numerous problems with the touchscreen for email and texting. Sometimes, I cannot open a folder on one of my emails or send a text because hitting the "send" icon does nothing. I've restarted my phone and reset it but have not yet tried a restore. Had anyone else had these issues?
And do you have any other suggestions I should try before doing a restore? Many thanks.

Problems with EFI Firmware Update to 1.5 for mid 2010 Mac Pro, and sleep issues

Hello to the community, I have run into an annoying issue.
I need to update the EFI firmware on my 8 core mid-2010 Mac Pro. I downloaded the EFI update from the apple website from here : http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1321
But everytime I download it, as I click to install, it gives me the message:
Alert
This software is not supported on your system.
But clearly this is the correct EFI for my computer. I tried burning the Firmware restoration onto a CD from here:
http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1320
But the computer did not respond the way it said it should (with the 3 flashes/beeps etc.) and have the optical drive open for the CD.
So I'm completely stuck.
*Also my Mac Pro had issues with sleep, when I put it to sleep, sometimes when I try to bring it back, it restarts itself, and other times, it just turns itself on and the monitor screen remains black, so I have to hit the power button to turn it off then back on again. This only happnens when the computer has been put to sleep for a slightly extended period of time, roughly 20mins +, sometimes longer. I was trying to solve this problem by first updating the firmware because I think it could be related to that, but I've had this problem with the firmware so I couldn't find out. This is actually the bigger problem for me because it will affect my work. I am currently using an iMac while I fix up this mac pro.
I'm a music composer so I've upgraded many aspects of my system due to work. I have a 1TB Samsung 840 evo SSD, 2 seagate 2 TB HDD, and 1 WD 1TB HD (the original one in the mac pro), along with 32 GB of RAM. So my only problems are the firmaware and the weird activity when the computer is put to sleep.

My iphone 4 keeps failing to restore at firmware update point with -1 error code - have tried on multipke computers and will not restore ??? please help

I woke up this morning - xmas day of all days and had a message on my phone that it needed to be restored via itunes. I connected it to my laptop and it tried to restore but failed at the point of iphone firmware update. I have back-ups etc - I have tried it on two different laptops and have tried at least 10 times but keeps failinhg at the same point - has anyone else had this and found a cure or is the phone dead. Its on ios 6.0.0.1

Error -1 could indicate a hardware issue. You may need to take the device to an Apple Store and have it looked at

Severe issues with new iMac. Do I need firmware update?

I purchased a new iMac at the end of September 2007. It still had Tiger on it and ran fine. I upgraded to Leopard at it's release and have had some problems ever since BUT THEY ARE GETTING WORSE.
I did a complete erase and install this past weekend but problems remain. I have to do a force shutdown with the power button sometimes and then things run slowly. I use Disk Warrior and rebuild the drive and also repair permissions and things seem to run fine for awhile. THEN the problems start again.
I know there is to be a Leopard update soon. Should I wait and see if that solves the issues? I also know there was a firmware update for the new iMac in the fall. When I did my erase and re-install this past weekend, I didn't do that update UNLESS it's already in the 10.5.1 update. Should I do it now?
I also recently got a LaCie 250 gig firewire hard drive. Sometimes it does not mount; but I've ran Disk Warrior and repaired permission on it also and no errors are reported. (I also have a 60 gb FireLite. It did not mount once; but mostly it's the LaCie that fails to mount ... but not always. 75% of the time it mounts fine.)
I just don't know what the problem is. I am very frustrated. I have NEVER had trouble like this with a Mac in all the years I've had one. I know one things for sure. I will NEVER again buy a new machine or operating system until they've been out at least six months

My problems are: 1)Sometimies when I try to restart the computer, I get either a spinning beach ball or a blue screen and nothing else. OR sometimes it does re-start but keeps the other spinning circular thingie going. In either case, I have to push the power button for a few secons causing it to shut down hard. On the other hand, sometimes it behaves normally.
Other problems include slowness, such as finder windows opening very slowly or files showing up in finder windows very slowly.
I don't notice that this happens with any particular program. It seems sporadic. Sometimes the computer runs fine and then all of a sudden, the issues reappear.
I have used Disk Utility, Disk Warrior, repaired permission, etc. All the programs report that the discs are fine (the internal disc, the LaCie drive and the FireLite drive.) I did a complete erase and re-install. I have not used a hardware test disc. (I suppose there is one with the original restore discs; but I am using Leopard now so I'm not sure how that works. That was Tiger.)
I have suspected a lot of things. I stopped iDisk automatic mounting & syncing. I stopped syncing altogther. I've turned off Spaces and Time Machine. I don't let any programs load automatically except the bare minimum. I'm just very frustrated.
I did hear there was a firmware update in early November but 10.5.1 was released after that; and I have done all the software updates so I don't know if I need to do the firmware update. (This machine is one of the new thin aluminum iMacs introduced in August. I got mine in September.)
