Firmware v12 N96

well ive just updated my N96 to the latest V12 firmware and boy it sucks x 1)ive not seen any visible improvement on v11 no new apps games themes start ups still just as slow and annoying x 2)the wifi bug is still there im still unable to connect to my sky/netgear router 3)moby still turns itself off ive had that pleasure 4xs since new firmware was installed x just like to say thankyou nokia for another great update im so looking forward to firmware v30 dated 2012 when this house brick of a moby finally does what it says on the box it came in x

As you have already been told the sky/netgear problem is caused by the router, not the phone. It works perfectly on almost every other wireless router out there. It even works on netgears that don't carry the sky branding that have newer firmware. This bug is known to netgear, that is why they have fixed it on their routers. You will have to wait for sky to fix it. The same happened when the N95 was released (it didn't work properly, yet older models did).
You may want to get your phone checked out or try a full reset because on my N96 and several of my friends N96's the speed has increased significantly over v11.
I personally have had no crashes or random reboots whilst using v12.
I would like to say thank you to nokia for providing an update in a reasonable time frame that addresses a lot of it's issues.

  • Update firmware OTA N96 (fp2)

    dearl all
    really need your help.
does any one can help with device manager setting to upgrade firmware OTA.
when we dial *#0000# ( Fp2) will show our device manager and when chose check for update phone need a "server profile"
i realy need this profile since i cant update via NSU.
i have old firmware of N96 here 10.013 now new firmware is 10.065
    need your help plz

Your asking a user-to-user forum for advice on updating a phone that is not officially launched yet. Of course it is not supported by NSU or by OTA updates yet.
Where did you buy it from? If the IMEI number begins with '00' instead of '35' then you have a prototype device which nobody had the right to sell to you, it remains always the property of the manufacturer - and if this is the case it could explain your problems as a prototype may not be the final version, it may in fact be far from complete.
Assuming that it is a genuine CE model with a '35' IMEI number, you may have one of the early releases which are not for sale but are provided to retailers and networks to review prior to launch to review.
A prototype will have no warranty as it was never intended for sale, a normal device given to a third party prior to the launch may also not be warrantied - the best thing to do is to check with Nokia customer services to check its status because there is good reason to suspect you have been sold a phone under false pretences and you should in that case have recourse with whoever sold it to you.

  • N96 Firmware v12

Has anyone updated to this firmware yet in the UK and if so has it finally sorted the WiFi bug ppl have been having with the Sky/Netgear broadband router x

The Sky/Netgear bug is a bug in the router's firmware rather than in the phone.
This said, I have noticed a marked improvement in WLAN connectivity on my N96 (connecting to a generic Netgear wireless access point) since I updated to V12.
There are other improvements that mean it's worth updating anyway even if it doesn't solve your Sky broadband problem.

  • N96 Firmware v12 - Availability

    Hi discussionists ,
I have an Australian Nokia N96 with v11.018. I want to update to v12 since it came out but my phone version (phone code) doesn't support it yet.
Will it ever be able to update?
Will a new version come out soon that allows me to update?
The lag on my phone is driving me crazy.
    Thanks!!

If you are on 02 and got your phone from CWH it is most likely unlocked.
    Two points here.
Unlocked and locked is not the issue here. The issue is operator branding. A phone can be branded and unlocked.
Secondly, CPW seem to have their own product codes for phones, which means that updates for phones bought off them are just as late as if the phones were operator-branded.
If you want a generic phone with early access to updates then CPW is not the answer.

  • Reinstall again after firmware opdate - N96

If I make a backup of N96, doing a firmware update, how much will be restored by creating a restore?
Lost everything on the phone both internal memory and the 16 Gb extra space and must installe everything again , or is there programs who still will work on my phone intern or extern memory ?

The N96 has UDP (User Data Protection). If UDO works as intended you won't need to restore anything as it will all still be on the phone.
The backup is an insurance policy, just in case UDP doesn't work. You will get a list of boxes to tick to select what you wish to backup. Selecting everything especially the mass storage will seriously lengthen the time it takes to back up. I generally just backup just data as I prefer to reinstall applications anyway.
Also, note that the standard pcsuite will not backup licences for movies and music. You have to use OVI suite if you want these backed up.
However all this is academic if UDP works as intended.

  • Updated firmware on N96 to 12.043 / Phone Crashes ...

I updated the firmware last night via NSU, everything went fine and i got the message firmware successfully installed. In the morning when i woke up, i used the phone for a bit, the battery was low so i put it on charge, the second i connect it to the charger the screen goes white and it restarts over and over until i remove the charger. What the hell did the new firmware do !? i can turn the phone on but i cant charge it!
is there anyway i can downgrade the firmware to the previous one ?

  • GPS proplem with the firmware v12.0.013

I update my n95 with nokia software updater from v11 to v12,
with v11 the mobile with fully workin without any bug & i denied to update software for fear of any bug but i found accdentally the N.S updater & found them greating it in forums, anyway i download it then i try GPS ... it deticte Satillites but it does no calculate anything
any one know how to solve it or even how to redownload the old software but easy steps cause i only know N.S updater
    &thought it secure way..
    &thx

I've used my N95 with v10, v11, v12 and v20 firmware and GPS/Maps (in Europe, Asia and North America). v10 was the most unstable, v11 was mostly OK and with v12 the A-GPS really helped in getting the satellite lock quickly. Now I'm at v20 (just released).
If v20 doesn't help in your case, then I suspect that you might have broken hardware.

I was in a Vodafone highstreet shop yesterday (28th) and i asked the chap behind the counter if he knew anything about when the next software update is likely to be released.  He said that it will be released in the next two weeks!  Now, I don't know if he was referring to v12 or the new v2 due out in October (and I am not sure that he knew himself) but the staff have clearly been given some information from above.  I checked that he meant software that had been approved by Vodafone and he confirmed that.
Watch this space I suppose and lets hope he was referring to v2...
My situation is that my Ovi Suite 2 Beta is still telling me that an update is available but when I connect via USB I am kindly told that it cannot download the software because I have unregistered software on my phone (which I do not).  I have 0585262 also.

  • [N95] US - No New Firmware v12

    Hi,
I have an unlocked N95, downloaded the latest Nokia Software Updater and I still do not get the latest firmware, I am still getting v11.0.026 as the latest.
I asked before and was explained about a kind of sequence that eventually will reach my phone, does anyone knows how long usually it takes to be available to an US unlocked phones?
Does works to use a SOCKS proxy in UK and run the Updater? or definitely is something stored in the phone.
ThanksMessage Edited by seti on 10-Jul-200707:15 AM

To the best of my knowledge it is something stored on the phone called the product code.
