Firmware video quirk???

Since updating to the latest IPod Classic software the video now has an annoying grey bar to the right.... any answers or do I have to wait for the next update. Also are previous versions available if I want to switch back to previous version in the meantime. Thanks.

1. The latest fw for E66 is 210.21.007. It is released for Generic versions sold in EMEA countries (Europe, Middle East and north Africa (if I am not mistaken))
if your phone is branded, that is you bought it through a contract from Vodafone, O2 etc., your company has to approve the new fw first, then you will get an update.
2. If video and sound is not in sync, make sure that you do not have any programs running in the background while recording. Before you begin recording, hold the home button to see if other applications are running, and close them one by one. Also, if your memory card is below level 4, its writting speed will be slow, and it may also cause problems.
3. if the sensor is being blocked, the phone thinks that it is dark outside, and it lights up the keypad. Make sure that the light sensor is not blocked, and your light sensor setting is set to the lowest setting possible.
for example, I recently applied a scratch resistant screen protector, but i wasnt very careful during application and a piece of lint blocked the sensor. I had to remove the lint.
4. the camera has viewfinder grids lines. make sure that this is set to off. If you are talking about lines appearing on the pictures you take, it is partly because of the bad quality CMOS sensor and partly because of the firmware. When you get a firmware update, the image quality will improve somewhat. but dont expect anything like SonyEricsson 3.2 mp camera quality.
I hope I was able to help.

  • E66 Confusion - Firmware, Video, Light

Firstly the firmware - I have a product code of 0563827 and it says the latest update for my phone is 110.07.126.  Given that i am running v200.x.x already AND there is a v210.x.x out as well this has to be wrong?
Do people know if there is something wrong with the update service for the E66 at present?
    Secondly, the video and sound.
I use my phone for both pleasure and work (which is what the phone is meant to do!) and the video never records the sound in sync with the video.
If you record something for longer than 30 seconds you will see (on playback) that the sounds does not sync with the lips / actions being carried out.
I can only guess this is because the sound is being recorded at 25 fps and the video at 22 fps.  That means that for every 8 seconds the video plays the sound will be 1 second out.  The exasperates itself with playback as it would appear that the playback runs the video at 25 frames per second even though it was recorded in 22 frames - and the sounds was always recorded in 25 fps and so therefore finishes after the video completes!!!
Its terrible and is HAS to be fixed!  It is actually something they could be sued for - misrepresentation of goods: I am suprised that no one has bothered to do it - the emotional trauma that has been caused due to family videos not recording properly!
Thirdly the light sensor needs to be updated so that it lights the keyboard on a much higher luminance.  Currently you need to be in near enough pitch black before the keypad lights up.  The sensor needs to change to a lighter ambience.
Forthly the camera seems to have lines in the view finder - i believe that is interfierance (spelling) from the phone signal.  Does anyone else have this problem.
I would really appreciate your feedback and if anyone else has these problems.  I am really frustrated.  Spending well overy £250 on a new phone and i have these problems.  I had the 6120 classic before and had to get rid of that for similar software issues...

  • Bug in hal video quirks for IBM X30 laptop

With the default settings the radeon quirk is added to quirks causing the system to hard lock as soon as dpms blanks the screen.  Adding a match that disables the radeon_off quirk seems to solve the problem but should not be needed.  Clearly a bug in the freedesktop fdi file where the X30 with intel 82830 graphics is confused for the X31 with radeon.

I agree. There are bugs. Looks like Flash Player was updated this past April.
I could watch videos prior to this.
I use Vista 64 bit with  FireFox 32 bit and Adobe Flash Player version 11 (latest) and it does not work anymore

  • Xserve G5 Video Quirk

Well, I finally got my Xserve G5 up and running, which was an Ebay "spares or repair" job which I resurrected.
It has an ATI Radeon 9200, which has both a DVI and VGA output, so I hooked up my 20" Cinema Display, and going into the display settings shows that the OS thinks that a second display is connected, and has expanded the desktop appropriately. I assure you, there is no display connected to the VGA port.
Never come across anything like this before, I can't get the second display to go away!
    Any ideas?
Thanks in advance for any help.

That's less than optimal. I'm unaware of anyway to "drop" or remove a monitor but that doesn't mean there's no way to do that. You can always try recreating or hacking on com.apple.preferences.display but that may be more adventuresome than you want to be with your server box. I'm out of suggestions unless maybe physically connecting a VGA connector or terminator might trick the board into "seeing" that there is nothing installed there.
If you just decide to live with it drag the monitor arrangement so the virtual displays so they only touch on one of the very corners to minimize the dragging the mouse off the main display issues.

  • Display Preferences refuse to stay set.

Brand new 2010 8Core 2.4Ghz MacPro. ATI 5870 video card. Running 3 displays - 2-24" Dell UltraSharps and a 30" Apple Cinema Display.
Using 2 Dual Link DVI to Mini Display Adapters in order to drive all 3 displays.
    Card ports =
    MiniDisplay #1 - Apple 30"
    MiniDisplay #2 - 24" Dell
    DVI Port - 24" Dell
The Dells have a max resolution of 1920x1200. I have them rotated to portrait (90°) via Display Preferences.
I HAD to set the Apple 30" in Mini Display port #1 so it would be seen as the primary monitor at all times. Simply dragging the menu bar in Displays > Arrange works for a while.. but read on....
System runs and operates fine overall. I set the Display Preferences, arrange the three monitors (24 - 30 -24) and set the rotation for the Dells. All works and is great while I'm sitting there.
I leave the system for 15 minutes or more and come back to it sleeping. When I hit the spacebar to wake, the Dell displays reset to either 1200x1600 resolution (stretching the picture), lose the 90° rotation, or both. If the Apple 30" isn't plugged into MiniDisplay Port #1, then whatever monitor IS plugged into that port becomes the primary. If I reset things, via Display Preferences, it's all great again until the system sleeps for more the 15 minutes again.
I've tried everything I can think of - zapping PRAM - reinstall the OS - trashing com.apple.windowserver.plist - locking com.apple.windowserver.plist (well setting permissions to read only, you can't lock that file).
Nothing I do will allow the monitors to retain their settings. Am I missing some trick somewhere?
Long time Mac User, previous MacPro with two nVidia cards didn't have this issue.
In addition.. not display related, but I'm finding disk access on the new MacPro horribly slow. Initial disk access takes 3-5 seconds every time. This is exceptionally abnormal for me. I'm not certain if it's an issue with the machine or the OS. This new system purchased last month is my first real exposure to OS10.6.4 on a regular basis. I did completely erase and install the OS when the system arrived as I always do.
    Any ideas?

Wasn't due to a bad machine.
I have had 2 machine swaps since my October purchase of a 2010 MacPro. First system had a hard freeze at ~80% load and Apple requested a swap. Second system shorted out after 44 days of use. Short was not in the power supply ro logic board, it was deeper. I requested a new machine at that point.
So I'm on my 3rd new MacPro since October.... display issues have been the same on all three systems. It's obviously a firmware/video driver issue.
Let's hope this third system actually lasts longer than 45 days. So far, I'm swapping machines due to bad hardware every month and a half.

  • Wake up from suspend to ram *twice*

    Hello!
I am running arch on my Asus M51Vr laptop. Whenever I suspend to RAM and try to resume (i.e. hit a key), the laptop wakes up (sometimes without even locking the screen), and after 3-5 seconds it goes back to sleep; if I hit a key again, it will wake up with the screen locked (as configured) and then proceed normally.
This issue appeared some time ago after an update (was not there after installing arch). I am not sure where to start with the search for a fix, could you please help me?
    Thank you!

I actually do have that script:

  • Z77A-GD55 Post Stop Error "CA" (Solved)

Brand new motherboard that I pulled out of the box yesterday to rebuilt my PC.  I upgraded the BIOS to the latest version, 1.7.  One out of every two to three times when I reboot, the POST process will stop with a blank screen and just the characters "CA" (without the quotes) down in the bottom right hand corner.  Anyone know what this stop message/error is?
    Here's my machine specs:
    Mobo: MSI Z77A-GD55
    CPU: Core i5 3570K
    Memory: 32 GB G.SKill Ripjaws X Series (4 x 8 GB), DDR3 1600 PC3 12800, F3-12800CL10D-16GBXL
    DVD/CD: LG GH22NS70 DVD-RW
    OS Drive: 256GB Samsung 830 (MZ-7PC256B/WW | Firmware CXM03B1Q)
Data Drive: Seagate Barracuda 7200 RPM 1 TB Drive (ST31000528AS | CC49 Firmware)
Video Cards: Sapphire Radeon HD 7970 OC 3 GB
Edit: Just as a followup, I did run both the Windows Memory Diagnostics and MemTest86+ overnight last night and it went through 3 full passes on all 32 GB of RAM without any errors, so I don't believe it's a memory issue.

Don't see CA in the list, but lets start with the memory since you have so much.
Start by doing a full cmos clear.
Then set the dramv to 1.65
    Command Rate: 2t
    Then retest.
If ok, enable xmp and retest.
If the problem persists, update to the beta bios w/ the forum flash tool. Use option 1 and point it at the entire compressed archive. This will flash the ME extension as well. Once the flash is complete, you will need to re-install the Management Engine drivers in windows.

  • BUG: Playback Fails When Loading A Random Video - Firmware 1.2

I've been looking all over on where to post a bug, and for a fix for this bug I found. Not many seem to be having this problem (I assume not many are trying to randomly play a video from a video playlist)
BUG: Playback Fails When Loading A Random Video
    iPod FIRMWARE: 1.2
PROBLEM (1): When pressing "Play" on a video playlist or on 'Music Videos' while the iPod is set to Random->Song, the iPod displays a white playback screen, displays song 0 of 0, empty duration bar and a duration time of 0:00/-0:00.
PROBLEM (2): After successful playing a seleted video within a video playlist or music video list, the iPod attempts to play a randomly choosen video (HDD clicks abnormally) but times-out and returns the user to the Playlist selection screen.
iPod MODEL: 60GB Video - Black [Bought in NOV 05]
If anyone knows how to report a bug, or anyone else having this problem (Try it on you iPod, post your results!) let me know!

  • A/V Outputs Video but no Sound to my TV. (1st Gen, 2.1 Firmware)

    Hello all,
I have an iPod Touch issue that I'm oh so sure you'll all flock to help me with. =)
I purchased a Rocketfish brand Component A/V cable for the iPod. The cables it has are:
    3 Component (Y, Pb, Pr)
    2 Audio (red, white)
    1 USB
    1 iPod wide data connector
I plug the component and audio in properly to my home theatre system (no mistakes on that end) and go into a bunch of applications, but only get video and no audio.
Pictures will show the slideshow. Videos will show the video. Youtube will show the video. Nothing, including Music will play any audio out whatsoever.
I've read about there being numerous a/v out issues, including non-Apple brand cables being weird. However, I haven't read anything about the video and not the audio working. I guess I could always just get a 3.5mm to composite, but I'd rather use just one cable.
I have also tried everything above with a 2nd Gen iPod Touch with 2.1 Firmware. The exact same issue is present.
Can anyone shed any light on this? Even if it's just your experience with this kind of cable or anything you know about it, I'd appreciate it.
    Thanks!

No answer but marking as answered because I want to clear my unresolved questions.

  • Ipod nano video firmware

I think the current v1.0.2 firmware is in need of an update, as this has caused me no end of problems with my ipod nano video, causing it to shutdown on it's own and then require switch to disk mode, to restore. Trouble is, each time I get it back to v1.0.1 firmware, as soon as it's connected to iTunes, it recognises v1.0.2 is available and prompts me to install (whether I have auto update checked or not).
With v1.0.2 I also have a problem after I've added songs as the ipod just switches to a black screen with the apple logo and it can't be used. Not much use for a player bought as a present for someone.
So c'mon Apple, do the decent thing and provide a firmware update to fix this problem, as it seems I'm far from being the only one having problems going by the forums here.

Send your feedback to Apple via the appropriate link.
    iPod Feedback.
Also, when discussing the nano 3rd gen, it's always best to use the correct forum.

  • How to get videos to work on 5gen Ipod with firmware v1.1

This is a reprint from a previous post by check_six6 so thank him/her.
-Connect your iPod to your computer, ensures its updated via iTunes, then disconnect it from PC and exit iTunes
    - Download iPodSetup 2005-11-17 here:
    http://appldnld.m7z.net/content.info.apple.com/iPod/ww/win/061-2225.20051128.PDW nw/iPodSetup.exe
    - Download iPodWizard here:
    http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=153441
(download the release, top link of the two)
    - Uninstall iPod for Windows 2006-1-10 and reboot
    - Install iPodSetup 2005-11-17
-Connect your iPod to PC, make sure iTunes is not running
-Make sure that the check box labeled "allow ipod to automatically start Itunes" is unchecked. Restart
    -Launch iPodWizard.
-In the top left, click "Open Updater"
-Locate the iPod Updater.exe located in a sub-folder where you just installed iPodSetup 2005-11-17
-In the "Firmware:" drop down menu, select "5th Generation iPod (v.13.6.0)"
-Click "Load" just to the right of the drop down menu
-In the iPodWizard Essentials box on the right, it should say "Found 1 iPod drives:"
-Click "Downgrade Firmware". I'ts very quick.
    -Close the iPodWizard
-Again, make sure iTunes is not running
-From your Start menu, run iPod Updater 2005-11-17 and click "Update", not "Restore"
-Once the update is completed (it takes a few minutes), exit the iPod Updater and run it again to view the new firmware number. It should read:
"Software Version: 1.0 (up to date)"
-Launch iTunes. A pop up window will ask you if you want to download the new software version 1.1. Tick the box "Do not ask me again" and click "CANCEL"
To avoid a majority of problems if you have the newest upgrade to itunes you must uninstall itunes and then uninstall Ipod updater for all updates restart and then reinstall the downgrade updater version and then you should be able to downgrade your firmware to version 1.0. I used 3-4 different programs to convert videos and they all lost sound and hung up in v1.1 downgraded to v1.0 and all work just fine. I don't know what the problem is but this solution seems to work.

  • Choppy video streaming after upgrading E4200 firmware to ver. 1.0.03

Video streaming was fine until I upgraded the firmware. Is it possible to downgrade the firmware?

You mentioned in your post that you upgraded the latest firmware. So after upgrading the firmware did you reset the router? It is recommended to reset the router after firmware upgrade.  Steps to reset the router:
Push the reset button on router for 30 seconds, turn off the router wait for 30 seconds and then power it on. After this process reconfigure the router. Power light should blink when you perform the reset process.
After the process reconfigure the router as per the ISP setup.. Then try to do the following steps:
A] With the help of Cisco Connect Software (if at all you have installed the router with the help of this software)
1] Open the software and go to the option which says "Router Settings"
2] Then click on the option which says "Advanced Settings" which will take you to the router's configuration page.
3] Lower the MTU (Maximum Transmission Unit) from 1500 to 1400 or less (usually found on your router's main/ basic setup page)
4] Then go to the Wireless tab, keep network mode as mixed,
For Channel Settings of 2.4 GHz you can make Channel Width to 20 MHz only and Channel to 6, 9, 11..
For Channel Settings of 5 GHz you can make Channel Width to 20 MHz only and Channel to 40 or 161...
B] If you haven't installed Cisco Connect then you can log on to the router's user interface using it's default IP address in the browser which is 192.168.1.1 and type in 'admin' as the password leaving the username field blank. This will take you to the router's web interface and then follow steps as mentioned above to make the changes.

  • Playing a Video on 4310 firmware 5.4

    Hi!
I am trying to play a video on the DMP 4310 firmware 5.4.
    Here's my code:

    <head>
    <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=iso-8859-1">

    </script>
    </head>
    <body onload="start1();">
    </body>
    </html>
Problem is it can play on DMP 4400  but it can't play on 4310.
    Please help. Thanks.

So, you want to stream exactly the same video? There aren't players with exact synching capabilities and, given that the OS doesn't support local streaming on the API level, it's not easy to quickly code one either. Therefore, I can't quickly code one myself (I've written several players but for local playback only).
However, such a player (synching the exact second it starts playing so that video is played back absolutely in parallel) can definitely be written. Just ask someone to write a player or enhance his existing, streaming-capable one with synching capabilities over, say (I'd ersonally use it), GameKit.
BTW, if you need automatic synchronization AND you aren't afraid of putting the same video on the two iPads (as I've stated, programming streaming - as opposed to local playback - isn't that easy), feel free to tell me and I quickly code a synchronizing player. Then, all you need to do is ask a friend with an iOS developer account to deploy the app on your iPads and you're set.

  • 30GB Video iPod quirks...

I have been having some odd issues with my new 30GB Video ipod. First, it sometimes doesnt want to unmount. I have to turn off most software and log out of other open accounts before it may (or may not) work. Second, I was playing music on it today and noticed that while they showed up in the playlists, the name of the songs as they played were blank. It showed the album art, but nothing else. Oh, and the icon for a video was in the upper right of the screen...weird! I restored it and now it seems fine, but I'm not sure if anyone else is having similar quirks. Anyone?.........Bueller?......Bueller?

PLEASE DON'T POST IN CAPS LOCK, AS IT IS SIMILAR TO
    SCREAMING.
This sounds like your alarm is set. Go to
Extras-->Clocks and make sure that the alarms are
off. Make sure there are no alarms set for your
    calendar either.

THANKS I WILL CHECK THAT OUT. AND IF YOU THINK THAT USING CAPS IS SCREAMING, THEN YOU GOT QUIRKS! EVER THINK THAT I USE CAPS FOR MY BAD VISION? I HAVE TO USE A MAGNIFYING GLASS FOR MY I POD. IT'S NOT ABOUT SCREAMING ALL THE TIME.
