Firmware Zen Mi

DO NOT select the Reload Firmware option unless you have access to a PC and you have downloaded the necessary firmware to install.
This is what I have done.... now where do I get the firmware and how to I get creative downoad to accept my unit as connecter the windoews have no problem what is the problem with Creative software. I would like to install creative factory software so I may use Creative Zen Media explorer why is this so difficult I do not want windows media player it's easier to load maybe not so easy to remove tracks.. Are other MP3 so difficult to use.

FIRMWARE ZEN V P

One morning, i wake hour early to plug in my Mp3 into the USB cord that connects to my computer and charge and get ready for school. An hour later i unplug it and leave. When going to class i turn it on to listen to it and i get some screen on my mp3 saying "Firmware problem" so theres 4 options on the screen, clean up, format all, reload firmware, and reboot. i do all and nothing works. on Reload Firmware option, i do that and it says update firmware now. so i go online and search for a firmware for my product to update it to. i download the update and run it and it says "your player is not connected, please connect your player" ( http://img20.imageshack.us/my.php?image=beztytuuxm5.png?). but when i connected the player it still says that. my player IS connected and i can still go to the Media Explorer. its connected. i can drag music into the folder but i get this message "Error copying file or folder: Unspecified Error" so i cant do nothing with the MP3. i've only had it for like a week and it already has an issue. Please Help ! what i need to do now ?

I'm having the same problem,try this...install creative mass storage, maybe the zen xtra driver, or try to plug in a new notebook.With me it doesn't work the two first options, I will try the third tomorrow. I called to a technical assistance and they told me to do that, and also they said that it is happening a lot and it is a software problem, there is nothing wrong with the harware.

Firmware zen stone plus 4GB with spea

in the dropdown list when looking for the latest version of the firmware for my "zen stone plus 4GB with speaker" i just can found the "zen stone plus 4GB"..
this mean that there are no available updates for my device, or that the model with built-in speaker use the same firmware of the one without speaker?

Rollback firmware (zen vision m 60

hi guys
im after an opinion as to whether i should risk rolling back my firmware from .2 to . (thanks for posting the link to the download by the way, you forum guys are awesome) in order to get Fm recording. i was all nice and organised when i first got my zen and upgraded to .2 straight away and now have just learnt i've lost fm recording ability. as far as i know theres 2 ways of doing it:
a) open the firmware file and when the box says it might corrupt music files because its an older version, click 'continue'
b) reset the player and select 'delete firmware' then put on the old one
just wondering if anyones done this and if it works? im assuming the 60gb model came with fm recording origionally..

ok ill reply to myself (mr popular eh..)
the rollback worked fine so if anyone out theres considering it then go for it, despite saying it may corrupt files. in my case it was fine. problem was it hasnt enabled me to record fm radio (thus all those hours tracking down the old firmware were futile! - except for creating this post of course). this therefore means that despite what some forums say it seems like the 60gb vision m was never able to record fm (could someone from CL confirm this for me?). that is unless of course, i need an older firmware version...

holahe intentado acutualizar el firmware del zen touch 20Gb me descarge la actualizacion de la pagina de creative, al arrancar el archivo y me empezo a actualizar pero se quedo en la misma pantalla durante mucho tiempo asi que lo desconecte y ahora cuando enciendo el reproductor se me queda en la pantalla de Recovry Mode con las opciones de Clean Up, Format All, Reload Firmware y Reboat. He intentado con todas estas opciones y no me da ningun resultado siempre al encenderlo me sale la misma pantalla y al intentar actualizarlo otra vez con el firmware que descarge me dice que no esta el reproductor conectado y tampoco me reconoce que esta conectado los programas del reproductor como Creative MediaSource Organizer. I had explained the issue to an email correspondent, but I guess I'm over my year so I'm not eligible for email support anymore.. Figure'd I'd try my luck here before I make the $2.99 CDN call :P
Here's what I wrote:
When I start my player, it displays "Firmware Problem" (I had erased the firmware), and goes into recovery mode. I've downloaded the firmware update I want (Creative Zen Micro Firmware ..0, I don't care much for PlaysForSure), but it fails to recognize the player.
I am not using a USB hub or anything, I'm using a true tried and tested USB connection coming directly from the motherboard. One thing I should note is that the firmware that was on the device before I erased it was version 2 (PlaysForSure). I had tried using the second version of the firmware (Creative Zen Micro PlaysForSure Firmware update 2.2.02), but the same thing happened. I am running Windows XP Professional SP2 (32-bit). I have Windows Media Player Version .0.572.545. Are there any software prerequisites besides the drivers? (I have Creative ZEN and Jukebox Driver 2.0.00 installed).
I have also installed and reinstalled the following:
-Creative MediaSource Player/Organizer 5.0.38
-Creative PlaysForSure Devices Plugin 5.00.36
-Creative ZEN and NOMAD Jukebox Plugin 5.00.22
-Creative MediaSource Plugin for PlaysForSure devices (version .00.8)
When I try to install the "Creative Zen Micro Media Explorer Web Update" it will install the necessary software drivers, but still won't recognize the player. Windows sure recognizes it, and when it's plugged in the "Docked icon displays on the players screen... I can access the player through My Computer ..it only reads a 20mb "Storage Media" device within... I can even transfer a file to it, given it's an acceptable format for the player.
So I'm stumped here. One thing to note is that my girlfriend has the same player with version 2 firmware (PlaysForSure), and I can use the version 2 firmware update to restore the firmware on her device, yet the same firmware updater fails to recognize my device. I hope I haven't bricked my player
Any help/guidance is more than appreciated people!
On a more advanced note, is there any way I can manually copy the firmware from my girlfriends player (I am an advanced linux user)... I haven't tried playing around with anything like that, but if anyone has ever tried/knows where to look, that would be great.

My English is not well, But i know how to upgrade it like this situation. . Use Windows XP. (NOT VISTA)2. IF your XP install Windows Media player , remove 3 things,
Windows Media Player (restar computer)<
Windows Media Format Runtime (restar computer)<
Microsoft User-Mode Driver Framework Feature Pack .0.0(if you see [Wudf0000] windows, put YES )<
Then, you can upgrate you zen micro use the firmware ZenMicroP4S_PCFW_L6_2_2_02.exe

Problem uploading new firmware - Zen to

I thought the solution to sycronise my Zen touch with Windows Media Player was to update the firmware to version Creative Zen Touch PlaysForSure Firmware 2..0.?But this seems to have backfired on me - I am now stuck in recovery mode and I think have deleted the old firmware!?When I run either the new or old firmware it does not recognise my devise??Has anyone else encountered this problem??I now have a redundant MP3 player!?Please help!

Same thing happened to me as well. I wanted to update my Vision:M 30gb to the latest version because it had been freezing alot lately, so i Reformatted it in the Recovery Menu, and saw the Reload Firmware, and i figured this is how i update the firmware. It erased the firmware, and now my player is rendered useless because the update doesnt detect my MP3 Player even though my computer does.
I wonder if anyone could perhaps send me a backup of the Vision:M system files or something? Nothing else seems to work, i tried rolling back to WMP 0 to no avail, not sure what else i can do, and i dont really wanna RMA it since its just a software issue.

earlier on I placed a HELP with screen locking at Rebuilding Library - Perseverance got me to the Reboot screen - Where on the site can I get the firmware for this player please. I have looked at the site in the Downloads, none seem to fit this player. I have Original CD but the only thing I can find is Drivers, no firmware there.

The diffrence between .3.03 and .3.05 is that the 05 has FM recording again... And the "e" versions are volume limited and the non "e" versions are?not. Like I said on the other thread I have the .3.05e, and it works great, but?I hate the volume limitation, I'm using MP3Gain to make the songs a little louder, but anyway I don't like having to do that... And another thing that annoys me is that the volume goes from 0 to 25, but the max volume is at 20,?it doesn't change at 2, 22, 23, 24, or 25... I think they applied the limitation at 20, and the other fi've levels?are useless... I don't know why Creative don't make the .3.05 available on the site... :smileyindifferent:?BTW, about the memory, mine is the GB version and it has 966 MB, so the 52 MB one should have around the half of that... It's normal that the amount of memory is less than the advertised, the same happens with?hard disks, they say "80 GB" but the real?capacity is 80.000.000.000 bytes /024 (to convert to KB)

I for one don't understand your question... You may want to rephrase and elaborate a bit.
Are you talking about something to install on your PC? It's true that you can use WMP (Windows Media Player) to load music to a Zen Micro with 2.00.2. You could also install the specific version of Zen Explorer (see the download section of Creative.com). You need to get the right version, because the version of Zen Explorer on the CD in the box, only works on .x firmware

Zen Micro with PC connection Problems and no firmw

I'm running on Windows XP Service Pack 2 and I have Windows Media Player 0.
...and my Zen Micro wouldn't be detected, so I formatted it completely and I tried reloading the firmware. My old Zen Micro with v firmware still connects perfectly well, but Windows just doesn't detect my v2 firmware (now no firmware) Zen Micro.
Advice, please?

Windows DOES detect my Zen Micro now...but I still can't do anything with it. It appears as MTP player connected:

Check this Knowledgebase article SID0053 and make sure the USB registry entry is correct. If you do make changes to the registry base on the Knowledgebase info, then try reloading the v2 firmware again.

Updated Zen Micro Media Explo

I've just updated to the newer zen micro media explorer, so that I could use it with my newly updated firmware. But now I find the explorer missing alot of stuff that was there in the old one? What happened to the neat sorting by artist/genre/album boxes to the left? Right now it just displays the list of mp3s as files, how am I suppose to edit and reorganize my music?

For MediaSource to detect your PlaysForSure firmware Zen Micro, you have to download and install "Creative MediaSource Plugin for PlaysForSure devices (version .00.8)". However, it will not have the Genre/Artist/Album windows. That is the nature of PlaysForSure firmware whereby the track listing is by directories.
