Does apple tv connect to a computer for presentations?

    Welcome to the Apple community.
Unfortunately it doesn't do that with the current operating system. However I understand that this may be a possibility with the next OS (mountain lion).
It can however do presentations from an iPad, which it is very good at.

  • IPod Touch 4th Gen won't connect to my computer, charge or connect to iTunes.

Okay, here is the issue. My computer runs Windows Vista. Ever since I have updated iTunes to 11.0.2, my iPod touch hasn't been able to connect to the computer at all. I don't know if there is any correlation between the update and my issue, but I need someone to be the judge of that. Apple has suggested that you uninstall iTunes, QuickTime, etc. restart the computer and then reinstall them. So I have done that multiple times, and my iPod still won't connect to the computer. My sister's iPod touch, 4th gen just like mine won't connect to iTunes or the computer either. I have spent a lot of time looking up possible solutions, but none of them work at all. I've done everything Apple suggests in troubleshooting and such, but nothing works. I was hoping someone else might be able to give me a solution. One that hopefully does not involve uninstalling and reinstalling Apples programs, which I have done several times.
I have tried all accessable USB ports on my computer, and I have switched between the four different USB cords that we have, so this isn't the issue. My PS Vita will connect to the computer with no issue at all, so it isn't the USB ports either. I can plug my iPod Touch into my PS3 and it will charge the instant I plug either end of the cable in, the same for my sister's. I can plug it into the dock on my mother's alarm clock and it will charge just fine. I'm open to any suggestion, so please help me out here.

    So you tried everything here:
iOS: Device not recognized in iTunes for Windows
If you  have iTunes 11 turn on the Sidebar. Go to iTunes>View and click on Show Sidebar. You can also do a Crtl+S to show the sidebar. The sidebar is where Devices appears. and Control+B to show the Menu bar
Try connecting to another computer to help determine if you have an iPod or computer problem.

  • First Gen apple TV issues.

I have a first Generation Apple TV. It has stop syncing with my itunes, that is on my imac. I have my imac hooked to a cable modem. I am afraid i have the whole system jacked up, the airport , the internet sharing, all of it. Can someone maybe help me step by step what should the settings be on itunes, on the imac, and internet sharing basically how to reset the whole thing. Thanks

I tried to reset the apple tv to factory settings, itunes saw it but never picked it up. Before I reset it, it was saying "no internet connection" so I selected continue without it. Thats what makes me think I have the whole set messed up.
    Thanks

  • What happened to the first gen apple tv

you can't get to itunes anymore.  Did apple kill the the 1st Gen apple TV ?????

Judging by all the posts on the forum, there seems to be an issue at Apple's end, although they have made no announcement on their status page. Some users have reported that Apple is aware of the issue. You can leave feedback for Apple at the link below.

  • HT3291 Functionality Removed after First Gen Apple TV?

Does the second generation Apple TV support using the Apple TV as an Airplay Source? According to this article, the first generation Apple TV had this ability.

I'm not sure if you don't have this a little mixed up, the Apple TV 1 had the ability to use AirTunes, the Apple TV 2 has the ability to use airplay.
AirTunes enabled the Apple TV 1 to send its audio to remote speakers via Wi-Fi, AirPlay allows the Apple TV 2 to receive video and audio streams from other devices such as the iPhone and iPad.

  • Lenovo Horizon II connected to first gen Apple TV?

Hello, I am having trouble with my Apple TV (first generation) on the new Lenovo Horizon II computer (like a big tablet) I just bought. Has anyone had any success with this? I have three main issues.
    1) Even though I have successfully connected the Apple TV to my itunes account the new computer, the Apple TV sometimes seems to forget. Or at least sometimes when I turn on the computer the folder of photos is no longer accessible within Apple TV.
    2) Even when I can successfully access my photos through Apple TV, I cannot turn them into a screensaver. I have turned on home sharing through itunes and have granted access to my photos, and as far as the itunes steps are concerned it seems to work, but then the folder is never accessible when through Apple TV I try to turn on the screensaver.
    3) Is it possible to synch Adobe Revel and Apple TV?
Thank you so much for your help, whoever might be able to help me.

The Apple TV may require HDCP compatible displays since it handles copyright protected videos.  Older Apple displays do not support HDCP.

  • How to pair first gen Apple TV to iTunes 11

I need help paring an Apple TV first generation to iTunes for the first time.
I am staying in a hotel so I brought my Apple TV and laptop that I factory restored to try to watch a my iTunes movies but I don't know how to have it sync whith my computer I already have the password that it gave me but I can't find the device list on iTunes. I am using the wifi at the hotel

Sorry I've never used WIndows 7 but take a look at:
Using ICS (Internet Connection Sharing) - Windows - Microsoft
Also Google "windows 7 internet connection sharing"
I did it years ago with XP and there was a Wizard that took you through various steps.  Hopefully Win 7 will allow sharing of the wifi internet connection over ethernet to AppleTV.

  • I have a problem with my iPod touch 5th gen. When connected to my computer my music playlist will show and play no problem. When I disconnect my iPod from my computer go into my music, my music playlist disappears. Do anyone have a solution. Thank U!

I have a problem with my iPod touch 5th gen 64GB. When I connect my iPod to my Mac Book Pro laptop my music that I've transferred to my iPod and music playlist will appear in my iTunes my music will play with no problem. Now, when I disconnect my iPod from my computer go into my music, my music playlist and music I've downloaded into my iPod disappears. I reconnect my iPod to my computer, everything shows. Do anyone have a solution I really do appreciate it. Thank You!

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Unsync/delete all music and resync
To delete all music go to Settings>General>Usage>Storage>Manage Storage>Music>Tap edit in upper right and then tap the minus sign by All Music
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
However, there seems to be a bug in iOS 8 or iTunes 12.1.1 that cause this problem and I have not seen a solution

  • Can't read external HD connected directly to computer but reads fine when connected to the USB on my airport extreme.

I bought an external G-Technology 8TB HD to hook up to the back of my AirPort Extreme to use as wireless external storage and to back up my family's Macs. In the beginning I could unplug the HD and plug it directly into my computer and it worked just fine. Now, when I plug it into any computer, the HD won't mount automatically and the light on the HD just blinks rapidly.
When I go into Disk Utility it see's the HD but does not read anything and simply says it is empty. I verify the HD and it says to repair. When I repair the HD it says that I must backup HD and reformat disk. So, I unplug and plug into the back of my router and it works just fine.
Is there a way I can make my computer read the HD without reformatting because I do not want my fancy HD connected to my routers USB 2.0 port anymore? Is this a glitch in OSX mavericks?

I believe this Airport update, released in the spring (2008) did enable AirDisk usage with Airport Extreme wireless devices:
    http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/timemachineandairportupdatesv10.html
MacWorld: Update allows Time Machine backups on AirPort Extreme
    http://www.macworld.com/article/132613/2008/03/airporttime.html
Unfortunately, it is Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard) only, and I see form your stats that you are still on Tiger (10.4).
It will be interesting if Tadd's tip works though. Let us know.
    Cheers!

  • Can I have two separate iTunes accounts on my first gen apple tv?

When I buy a movie on the apple tv, it sometimes doesn't download, and i hear from my daughters in another state that its downloaded there. To avoid paying for something that i didn't get, i would like to create a separate account for the apple tv use, so i can have movies I buy on that, and my daughters can buy their music on my first account.
I would still like to have my original iTunes account authorized on the apple tv - is it possible for me to have two iTunes accounts authorized on the Apple TV?
    thanks in advance

For a few reasons I prefer to refer to these libraries as primary and secondary libraries.
A primary library is a library that can sync content to the Apple TVs hard drive as well as stream content to it. The advantage of this is that you are able to turn off your computer and still watch the content on the Apple TV's hard drive.
The primary library will also let the Apple TV transfer any content you purchase on the Apple TV back to the iTunes library on the computer for safe keeping.
Unfortunately you can only have one primary library.
A secondary library can only stream content to an Apple TV and obviously when that computer is turned off the content is no longer available. You can however connect up to 5 secondary libraries to an Apple TV in addition to a primary library.
There's a little more about seeing which type of library you have and how to set up each on this page.
In your case the primary library would be your new library since you want to keep content you purchase on the Apple TV in it. Your older library would need to be a secondary library.
For the next part I'm assuming that you only have one computer. iTunes can work with more than one library, but you need to switch the libraries it works with and you can't use more than one at once. This wouldn't work very well for you, since you'd always need to ensure it was using the right library when you purchased from the Apple TV.
There is another way though, and that is to create two user accounts on your computer and run a library in each, one as the primary and one as a secondary.
If you have a mac you can have both user accounts running and the Apple TV will be able to see and use both.
If you have a PC the PC will only keep one user account active at a time, and the Apple TV will only be able to see and use that library. It's a little more awkward with a PC but not overly awkward. You'd need to keep switching users depending on which library you wanted to watch, but unlike switching libraries in a single user set up, the Apple TV wont transfer the purchases to the wrong library. Instead it will wait until until you have the correct user account active and then transfer the purchased content.

  • How to restore movies loaded on my 1st Gen Apple TV back to the computer

I just pulled a major dumb move. I deleted all of my movies from my computer. I am not worried about my iTunes movies because I can restore those. I am talking about the 30 or so movies that I have converted from my DVD collection. Presently, they are still loaded onto my Apple TV (1st Gen). If I simply synch, will they reload to my Computer (Windows 7)?
    HELP!

No.  AppleTV was never intended as a storage device.
If you sync you will lose items not in iTunes from AppleTV too.
Always wise to backup media - less of an issue with iTunes purchases than it used to be, but even they can occasionally disappear from the store if they are no longer for sale.
(BTW discussing DVD conversion is not allowed by Apple even if you own those DVDs yourself and feel this is fair use - the laws vary around the world but Apple forum T&Cs make it best for you to avoid such discussions).

  • Does apple tv connect directly to iPhone or indirectly through home wifi?

I will have my Verizon router on the second floor and the apple tv in the family room on the first floor. If I want to stream music from my iPhone from outside by the pool will it have to get a stron connection with the Verizon router upstairs or does it just need to reach the apple tv which will be situated much closer?  Thanks

    Welcome to the Apple community.
The short answer is that your iPhone will need to connect to your router, not the Apple TV, the router (if you will) acts as an intermediary between the two. When it comes to how much success you will have with this, or whether it will work at all, I am afraid I can't help you. There is a lot that can affect a network including distances between devices and interference from other objects. Generally speaking most people have no problem with the Apple TV of their network.

  • My Apple TV connects to the computer but streams blips of sound.

I have re-booted everything, Mac, Router, Apple TV.  I can connect to the Mac and see the library and such from the Apple TV.  Apple TV apps work fine.
The issue is when I try to use the computer to play music through the Apple TV, it just gives me blips of sound every couple of seconds.  The album art is there on the Apple TV, and the song time moves along as normal, but you only hear blips of the song roughly every 2 seconds.  Movies I try to stream to the Apple TV from the Mac buffer forever.  The Apple TV is only a couple of months old, and it has worked perfectly the whole time.  I'm not sure what changed.
It has been a few days since the problem started, and I have even restored the Apple TV.  The Airport Express plays perfectly from the Mac, so I don't think it's WiFi or iTunes on the computer.
I am completely stumped as to what this weirdness is...  Any ideas or similar issues?
