First generation of iPod!?!

I have a question. there are still applying for the first generation of iPod, because many application requests a configuration iOS 4.0...

Not all applications require iOS 4, I have several that only require iOS 3.
If you want to use an apllication that requires iOS 4, then you need to buy a newer iPod. Sorry, that's all there is to it.
Not sure what your question is though!

  • HT4623 I have first generation of iPod AND my kids don't remember its' pwd; We have lots of pics in there and would like to access it. How do we do it..?? :( Thank you!

    Hi guys,
We found kids' iPod and can't access as nobody remembers Passcode for it.
As far as I remember, we bought at the very end of 2008 or begining of 2009; thus, I assume it could be 1st Generation.
It's has this silver back and it's very thin. It's 8 GB (on that silver back side of it).
We would Love to retrieve kids' apps and pics, even though I just realized that it did not have camera in it, does it..?
Question: How do we unlock it? We can go to Apple store, and they might try it by setting it to default, it means we will loose the data.
    Is there a workaround?
    Thank you!
    Paris

There is a way to reset the pass code without resetting the iPod.
    But it's more complicated.
To do it you will need a backup of your iPod in your PC, and also ibackup bot.
You can download it from here http://www.icopybot.com/download.htm
You can find how to reset the pass code from here http://www.igeeksblog.com/how-to-reset-restriction-passcode-on-iphone-ipad-using -ibackupbot/
But for this you will have to apply the method given to reset the pass code. In the com.apple.springboard file mentioned there you will probably find a line mentioning the block.
Just after that you will probably find a 4 digit number which is your pass code.
If you don't, then you should do what it says in the web page that I mentioned but apply that to the pass code part.
If you have any problems with this method just send me an e-mail at [email protected] and I'll help you.
I myself had this problem with my restrictions pass code.

  • Using Old First Generation Firewire iPod With Laptop USB

I was hoping that someone could help me out here.
I have an old 1st generation iPod that I bought back in 2003. It holds 10G. It used the Firewire cable, but now I have a Dell Inspiron laptop that has only USB. I tried to plug in this iPod using a USB/Firewire hub, but the device is not recognized by iTunes and furthermore, the iPod does not seem to respond with the "Do Not Disconnect" message. It seems like there's no communication at all. My questions are the following:
    1) Can a 1st generation iPod be recognized in iTunes?
    2) Can I use a USB/Firewire hub to connect my iPod to the USB?
I really don't want this 1st generation iPod to go to waste! I hope I can still use it with up-to-date technology.
Anyone care to lend me some assistance as to what I can do to make it work with USB?
Thanks a lot for your support.
Dell Inspiron B120   Windows XP   1st Generation iPod

A firewire iPod isn't going to work with USB so you
can drop that idea. However, your notebook has a PC
Card slot, right? If so, you should be able to find a
FireWire PC Card which will let you sync your iPod
    with the notebook.
Thank you Chris and dwb. Your feedback is very valuable. Chris, thanks for reassuring me that iTunes will still recognize my OOLLLDDD iPod. Dwb, thanks for referring me to the PCMCIA Firewire card.
    Take care.

  • My First Generation 30GB Ipod cannot reset

My older Ipod with a memory of 30GB is having a problem and I tried reseting but I was unsuccessful. What appears on the screen is as follow:
Please help me. What should I do.
    Thank you

Unfortunately, that often means the hard drive in the iPod has become faulty.  You can try putting it into Disk Mode
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1363
If it goes into Disk Mode, try connecting it to the computer to see if it is recognized in any way.  If iTunes sees it, you can do a Restore, which will erase (reformat) the hard drive, install the latest software, and set it to default settings.
You may also be able to get information by putting it into Diagnostic Mode

  • Ok so Christmas is coming up and im debating about whether getting a ipod touch 4G or 5G or ipad first generation?

Ipad first generation or ipod touch 4g or 5g?iIhave already had a 4g and broke it and thrown it away. I wouldy really love to use a ipad but im not sure. By the way im only 12.

If I may ask, how did you break your iPod Touch 4g...?
I just bought an iPod Touch 4g and an Armored Case to give my 8 year old grandson for Christmas.
He has been using my iPad 1st gen for almost two years (under close supervision) and I'm hoping that he will respect the new iPod Touch as much as he does my iPad.
I can think of more than a few problems with a 1st gen iPad,
    1. it can not be updated past iOS5
    2. it is heaver and harder to haul around in your pack pack
    3. it is harder to hold onto and crashes a lot harder on the floor than a iPod Touch
So on that note: I think that you should put another iPod Touch and an Armored Case on your wish list.
    Edit
I almost forgot, see > Refurbished iPod - Apple Store (U.S.)

  • How do i know which generation my ipod touch is?

    question says it all..........

This is the correct link in which to enter the SN of the iPod.
Apple - Support - Check Your Service and Support Coverage
If it is a first generation (1G) iPod it will simply say iPod touch

  • IPod First Generation Song Order Problem

    Equipment Specs:
    IPOD -- First Generation, 1 G size, Firmware ver # 1.1.5
    ITunes -- Ver # 7.2.0.34
    Problem
I recently updated to the above version of ITunes. I also recently reset/erased all my songs (no podcasts or nothing else)from my IPOD.
I then reloaded just songs to my pod using the drag and drop method from the music file. I then re-arranged the songs in my desired order.
I then disonnected the pod and exited ITunes.
When I later restarted ITunes with the pod connected, my song order had changed. With the pod still open in ITunes, I am no longer able to change the play order position. As say, move song #45 to position #2 and etc.
Has something changed as I was always able to do this prior to updating ITunes and the pod ?
Was this caused by updating ITunes to the newest version?
Is there a solution to be able to manage the order of your songs as before ?
    Thx
    Arc
IPOD First Gen 1Gig Firmware 1.1.5   Windows XP   ITunes 7.2.0.34

OK, When I am trying to do this, I see the following
    columns
    1. name
    2. time artist and so on
In the name column the songs are numbered.
I've been referring to the UNlabeled column to the LEFT
of the "Name" column all this time... you seem to not be able to recognize that there actually IS such column according to your description.
I'm referring to the numbers on the LEFT side as in this image:
    http://a248.e.akamai.net/7/248/51/3053501176226988/www.info.apple.com/images/kba se/305350/305350_1.gif
When I try and move 9 to 5 or whatever there is no
horizontal line as I have seen in previous versions.
I know how I accomplished this task before and it is
    not working in this version.
Would it work to revert back to an earlier version of
    Itunes ?
Dunno... from what I've read in the iTunes discussions
this problem has not appeared there.
BUT you CAN delete iTunes 7.2 and then go to http://filehippo.com/download_itunes and download 7.1.1 (under Old Versions in box on right side of page)
Install it and see if it solves the problem...
What version are you using ?
    7.1.1(5)

  • I got a first generation IPOD TOUCH for my husband and want to take some songs From my Computer that is hooked up to MY newer IPOD (not Touch, just IPOD)  Is it possible to take the music from my ITUNES account and add the his IPOD Touch without changing

I am trying to take songs from my PC AND My Itunes account and send them to my husband's IPOD TOUCH First Generation BUT I don't want to change my whole ITUNES account that is already on my computer.  When I plug HIS Ipod Touch into the PC, my ITUNES account wants me to CHANGE the DEVICE Name on the account and I don't want to do that.  I only want to share SOME of my songs on my Itunes account and send them to h is IPOD TOUCH?  Is this possible and HOW!  Thanks a ton!!!  I "checked" off the songs that I want to send but that's as far as I get before it asks me to change the Device Name?

Is his iPod usually synced to a different iTunes library/computer?  If so, that would explain the message iTunes is giving you.  An iPod is designed to sync with only one computer/iTunes library at a time.  If you try to sync it with a new library, the iPod's contents will be erased and replaced with what is in the newer/different iTunes library.
So if there is content you would like to add to his iPod, simply transfer it from your iTunes library to his.

  • I cant download apps on my first generation ipod

i cant download apps on my first generation ipod touch. it keeps saying update required iOS 4.0

Your 1G iPod Touch cannot be upgraded past iOS 3.1.3.   Many apps that are available in the App Store not require a higher version of iOS (such as iOS 4) in order to be compatible with your device. So if an app requires a higher version of iOS than what is supported by your iPod Touch, you will not be able to sync or download that app to your device.  Sorry.

  • I have a very old IPod Touch First generation, it has the majority of my music on it under a previous Apple ID. How can i transfer music?

I have a very old IPod Touch First generation, it has the majority of my music on it under a previous Apple ID, I recently Upgraded to an IPod 4, got myself a New Apple Mac and changed my Apple ID, Two of my old Computers are now broken and inaccessible, and my 1st generation IPod has exceeded the amount of computers it can be on. How can I deactivate the two broken computers and get all of my old music onto my new mac and my new IPod?

  • Ipod touch first generation is recognized by computer but not by itunes 9

I connect my ipod touch to my hp laptop while itunes 9 is open. My computer recognizes the ipod touch but it never appears in my itunes. If anyone can help that would be greatly appreciated. i have tried the suggested steps on apple and nothing really has worked. ipod touch still charges and works fine. ipod touch is first generation.

I spent 2.5 hours on the phone with Apple and they were stumped. We tried everything!!! uninstalling itunes, updating "usb mass storage" drivers, etc...
I have an ipod touch 16gb, Gateway computer using Vista, and my computer recognized the ipod but itunes didn't start up when I plugged it in and it was not recognized in itunes.
Long story short, after reading almost every thing I could find on google and Apple help I stumbled onto the info about the 2.0 usb port. In looking to see if my computer had a 2.0 usb port (just to be sure)I found that it would be listed as "enhanced" in the Universal Serial Bus Controller section of Device Manager. Sooooo, I tried updating those drivers and it worked! I think. I did so many things, but this seemed to do the trick. It's worth a try. Mine is working perfectly now.
    start
    control panel
    device manager
    universal serial bus controllers
right click on the "enhanced host controller" (mine listed 2, so I did both)
    choose automatic update
then plug in the ipod. That seemed to allow my ipod to download the proper driver. Tadaaa - itunes started and my ipod is now recognized in itunes.
Worth mentioning is that my ipod had to do a restore. Not sure why, maybe it was something apple had me try.
    GOOD LUCK!!

  • New Calendar and first generation iPod Touch

Since the "old" calendar will be de-activated next month, I will no longer be able to sync my first generation iPod Touch to the new calendar. I use the old calendar now on my intel iMacs, MacBook Pro, iPad 2 and my old iPod Touch. Everything works well, but there is no software download available to upgrade the older iPod Touch to sync with my newer stuff after May 5. Basically my iPod Touch becomes a music player; I need the calendar function and do not feel the justification of buying a new iPod Touch when I already have one that works well and cost a lot of money when I bought it three years ago. Why can't Apple just leave things as they are? We have the choice of which calendar we want to use, and they are taking that option away with utter disregard for those of us who have already spent our $$$$ for an iPod Touch and still need to be able to use it. I urge Apple to either offer a software upgrade or to just leave the old calendar turned on. Have a little respect for your customers.
