First installation of Opensuse-exchange... doesn't start!

Hello to all.
I'm a very linux noob.. sorry, but I'm also very bored of Winzoz!
I need you help to solve my opensuse-exchange installation problem.
I have a laptop installed with SLED 11.4, kernel 2.6.37.1-1.2; with yast I installed opensuse-exchange from opensuse.org. During this it adveses me about some conflict an software dependencies that I ignored.
Finished the installation, I tried to access to "Email Settings", but nothing happened.
I though about wrong installation or a SO damage caused by me, because it doesn't even start Evolution Client.
How can I restore deleted dependencies and where is it saved the yast log file?
Many thank to all.

  • Installer for Discoverer 11g doesn't start

I'm trying to install Discoverer on CentOS 5 x64.
As OS user oracle, immediately after executing ./runInstaller :
[ERROR]: Installer has encountered an internal Error. Contact Oracle support with details
    [EXCEPTION]: java.lang.reflect.InvocationTargetException
Looking in the log, the stack trace indicates the method that caused this is startOperation.
    Any ideas?
    One more clue:
starting runInstaller from the linux subdirectory works fine.
starting it from the root install or linux64 subdirectory causes the above problem

    Hi Michael,
I have not installed on Windows XP, but according to the certification matrix on OTN here . It is supported for single-user use on Windows XP and Vista client OS's.
10g and 11g can co-exist as long as there are no port conflicts and you have the resources (CPU/Memory). They use different ranges and defaults. Both are pretty good about detecting ports in use (on Linux anyways) so if you have the resources, you may want to have 10g running. If not, there is still the option of the manual static port assignments. You should be OK if running each separately.
11g is quite a bit more "modularized" which makes it more flexible for only installing the parts you want (some may say more complex, just different).

    Steve.

  • I've 2 problems. I wanted to install Lightroom CC. On my desktop, the update of Adobe CC itself fails. On my laptop, Adobe CC updates, Lightroom CC installs, but Lightroom CC doesn't start. It flickers very briefly in Task Manager, but is gone immediately

After several restarts the Adobe CC update worked on the desktop. Doing the LR CC install on the desktop now.

Thanks for the reply Rave, but unfortunately that does not address my problem - my PC comfortably exceeds the minimum spec for the applications.
Of the three onward links from that page -
    (1) "For additional information please see Creative Cloud Help | Missing CC apps from my Creative Cloud Desktop app" is a dead link (>"Sorry, this page is not available")
    (2) "If you have confirmed that your computer meets and exceeds all of the listed System requirements then please see CC desktop lists applications as "Up to Date" when not installed." I had already worked through the 'solutions' on that page, culminating in the (bad) advice in 'Solution 4' which is what has got me into this current mess;
    (3) "If you have already have Download Adobe Creative Cloud application you can use Download Center : Adobe Creative Cloud for your Product Download." isn't helpful as the download links send me back to the CC Desktop app, & it still won't allow me to download the 'CC' or 'CC (2014)' applications.
Thanks again, but do you have any other suggestions?

  • Why doesn't my TestStand deployment installation show up under my Windows start menu of my target machine?

Why doesn't my TestStand deployment installation show up under my Windows start menu of my target machine?
I have successfully installed working deployments to target machines. However, I was expecting to see the installation listed as "My TestStand System A" in my start menu, but it is not. Am I misunderstanding something here?
Also, if I peform a different second deployment to the target station like "My TestStand System B", all of the LabVIEW files from my previous installation for "My TestStand System A" disappear from the target directory (c:\Program Files\My TestStand System A).
I am using TestStand 4.2.1 Professional on the development station with Windows XP and LabVIEW 2009.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Thanks Paul,
That solved my second problem and inspired me to search deeper for the answer to my first problem. The answer is in the "Distributed Files" tab, "installer properties", "Create a Program Item" checkbox:
Wouldn't it be nice if this was automatically checked by default for the main sequence files? Wouldn't it also be nice if "Upgrade Code" was automatically regenerated by default whenever we saved the *.tsd file under a different name?
    Thanks again,
    Eugene

  • Doesn't start when starting as administrator. Error Firefox is already running, but is not responding. To open a new window, you must first close the existing Firefox process, or restart your system.

Update firefox, it asked me to update flash, I tried to update flash but it said I had to close firefox. A box came up and said the Flash install would continue when I closed firefox. I closed all firefox windows and no update of flash occurred. I tried relaunching firefox but got the "Doesn't start when starting as administrator. Error Firefox is already running, but is not responding. To open a new window, you must first close the existing Firefox process, or restart your system." message. I rebooted the system, no improvement. I tried to run firefox as administrator and got the same message. Either I find a fix or I won't be able to use firefox and will have to go back to ie.

-> press '''CTRL''' + '''SHIFT''' + '''ESC''' to Open Task Manager -> Processes tab -> right-click '''firefox.exe''' and click '''End Process Tree''' -> close Task Manager

I updated iTunes to 10.4 version and now it doesn't start and send a messages "iTunes has detected an error and must be closed". Someone have the same problem and how can we repair our installation insted of change the windows XP installation? Best regards

Only way to get iMac starting again was to re-install 10.4.4 from DVD, and then update it into 10.4.6. For a while it worked perfectly, just as before.
Then I tried to print to CD with my EPSON Stylus Photo 950 from Adobe Photoshop Elements (2.0). It didn't print anything, but printer started flashing all lights. The print job was not performed, so I did remove it from the Printer Utility. After that the iMac started "ticking" again, same noise than before, after 10.4.7 installation. I did re-boot iMac. It never started, it does stuck on gray screen (gray block running clockwise). HW test from DVD didn't find any problems (extended search looping 3 times). But Disk Utility found hard drive to have inaccurate node structure, it could not fix it.
Apple support recommended to use DiskWarrior. However, it does not support (yet) Intel Macs. I haven't got TechTool Pro 4.5.1 anywhere. iMac does start on to FireWire mode (T at boot), but I cannot see the disk from 10.2.8 iMac.
So, obvisously the problem is not 10.4.7. I believe it to be ESPON printer driver compatibility on Mac OSX. This does not suprise me, EPSON printers *****, I shall never purchase one again. However, disk catalog structure should not get messed by one faulty printer driver!

  • Error when starting Dreamweaver CC after first installation

I'm running CC under OS X 10.9. Having installed Dreamweaver CC as an admin-user using the CC Manager Dreamweaver doesn't start. The dreamweaver icon is shown in the OS X dock for a second, then disappears without starting dreamweaver.
Repairing the disk permissions won't help. Uninstalling an reinstalling Dreamweaver CC won't help.
Dreamweaver CS5 runs without problems, also Photoshop / Bridge / Premiere CC.
    Thank you for any help!

Jeff A Wright, thank you for responding!
The Dreamweaver log file reports some errors like "Unable to delete directory "/Library/Application Support/Adobe/..." I assigned the necessary rights to this directory including all subdirectories: Dreamweaver starts and works fine!
I hope this will solve the InDesign problem as well; I'll try and report.

I don't know if it helps. But I had problems with the x-server not starting (didn't even get a gui login just command line) re-setting the network properties seemed to fix it, looks like anything dodgy in the network config stuffs up the start up proceedure.

    Any help?
I tried to reinstall dependencies of xorg-server and mesa. And then I even went through with the whole system update which I postponed for a few weeks because of the KDE changes. Sadly even the whole system update didn't help.
Is it possible that any old config files can cause this?
    EDIT:
I tried kernel parameter "nouveau.modeset=0" but it didn't help.

Ok, I guess I solved it by reinstalling xf86-video-nouveau.
Funny business! Why did the upgrade to xorg-server 1.17.1 force me to remove it when it is still needed??
And why does that lead to mysterious error messages and segfault??
I discovered it accidentally when I stumbled upon the fact that the package was still installed on my newer x86-64 Arch installation despite being on xorg-server 1.17.1.

  • Xorg doesn't start on Macbook Pro 4,1

I've just installed Arch on my Macbook Pro 4,1 (Early 2008).
The machine has this graphics card:
VGA compatible controller: NVIDIA Corporation G84M [GeForce 8600 GT] (rev a1)
I've installed "nvidia" package driver, launched "nvidia-xconfig" but when I try to launch:
    X -config /etc/X11/xorg.conf
Xorg gives me some errors and doesn't starts X.

Yeah it is quite a mess... but thats what you get when you try to use hardware that picks and chooses the bits of the UEFI standard it wants to include.
So like most UEFI systems, Mac(book)s are able to boot their own system with it's EFI setup.  It *can* also be used to boot other systems, but setting it up is unique to Macs.  So for the purpose of "bootcamp", Apple introduced a bios compatibility mode.  When it was introduced, there was no real windows UEFI prevalence (existence?) at that point.  So that is how they made this possible.
But the compatibility mode is not turned on by default.  OSX uses GPT (according to the standard and everything in this case), but when it makes a "bootcamp" partition it adds to the GPT a MBR partition table (ms-dos) with partitions.  According to the GPT spec, there is the actual GPT partition table, but there is also the inclusion of a MBR with a single partition spanning the whole disk.  This is to protect the disk from being overwritten by non-GPT aware tools (like fdisk was until recently).  So a hybrid MBR simply adds partitions to the ms-dos partition table that (hoepfully) line up with at lease the first few partitions of the GPT.  When this is present, the machine will enable the bios compatibility mode.
Booting the Mac with EFI will have no bearing on the Arch Linux installation that is installed in bios compatibility mode.  It will use its own bootloader and everything.  So there should be no issue.  It is probably good to use something like rEFInd in order to give yourself a nice interface with which to select between the two though.  The other boot loaders and/or boot managers don't have the ability to recognize both EFI and bios bootloaders.

  • MacBook Pro, randomly Windows 7 doesn't start and screen goes blank

Hi, I installed Windows 7 (Ultimate 64-bit) using the BootCamp on my MacBook Pro (MBP) i7, mid 2010. Installation was successful without any issues. This is my first Mac and, for now, I primarily use Windows on my MBP. The problem: After selecting Windows OS, randomly, Windows doesn't start and the screen goes blank. When this happens, most of the time I have to press the power button twice and press the Option key again to restart in Windows. Sometimes I have to hold down power button for several seconds to turn off MBP, then power it back on to start over. Windows 7 seems to restart on second try every time.
I can tell when the screen will go blank and Windows will not start, when the blinking cursor does not appear on upper left corner of the screen. Also, I enabled Windows OS Boot Log and nothing displays when this happens.
I took in my MBP, twice, to local Apple store Genius Bar and I was told that it was a Windows problem and I must purchase AppleCare Protection Plan to get help resolving the blank screen. It was explained to me that AppleCare had Windows experts who can help with resolving the issue. Therefore I purchased the AppleCare Protection Plan and spoke to AppleCare directly and still no resolution.
Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

There is a forum specifically for Boot Camp, this is a general MBP forum and most of us don't use Boot Camp or Windows. The link to that forum is:
    http://discussions.apple.com/category.jspa?categoryID=237
Apple does support Boot Camp however if your problem is with Windows Apple does not support a Microsoft product. You would need to contact Microsoft for help.

On the machines a window appears that says "Preparing Java(tm) Virtual Machine"..., then says "Running InstallShield Wizard...". The installation then stops and nothing further happens, Wizard doesn't starts.
    Systems and system variables used:
The Vista machine has 1 GB RAM, XP machine has 768 MB RAM.
I can see no problems with firewalls on either machine.
The installation file also seems to have downloaded completely.
    Can someone please help??!!?? :-D

Do you have any other versions of creator already installed ? If so, try uninstalling those first. Here are the FAQs on installing creator which might help:

My installation of Java Studio Creator 2 Update 1 may not have completed successfully on Windows 2000 or XP. How should I proceed?

  • Report service doesn't start after installing 9iAS

Forms are fine after installing 9iAS, but report server doesn't
start, and is not listed in Control Panel, Services.
If I try start it as RWMTS60.exe -install oracledev2 tcpip I got
the error "Please consult the installation guides for how to set
up and run this program", if I start it as RWMTS60.exe -listen
oracledev2 I got the error "Rep 0001:Unable to find the report
builder message file. Please verify your installation". Attempt
to run any Reports product (Runtime, for instance) causes
Dr.Watson on RWRUN60.exe. The registry parameter RW60 points to
the ORACLE_HOME/report60 for the Reports Server that is failing.
What do I do to start Reports ?
    Thank you,
    Kate

    Hi,
    1. Stop the DBConsole. (set ORACLE_SID first & ORACLE_HOME)
    cd %ORACLE_HOME%\bin
    emctl stop dbconsole
    2. Update the <ORACLE_HOME>/<hostname_sid>/sysman/config/emd.properties file.
    Change line from:
    tracelevel.main=WARN
    To
    tracelevel.main=DEBUG
Decomment this line, so that the line becomes :
    EMAGENT_PERL_TRACE_LEVEL=DEBUG
    3. Update the <ORACLE__HOME>/<hostname_sid>/sysman/config/emomslogging.properties
    Change line from:
    log4j.rootCategory=WARN, emlogAppender, emtrcAppender
    To
    log4j.rootCategory=DEBUG, emlogAppender, emtrcAppender
    4. Remove/backup all log files from ORACLE_HOME/<hostname_sid>/sysman/log
    5. Start the dbconsole and upload the output of each command
    - start the dbconsole: "emctl start dbconsole"
    - issue "emctl clearstate"
    - status the dbconsole: "emctl status dbconsole"
    - check the status of the agent until it comes up: "emctl status agent"
    - force an upload: emctl upload
    6. Check If you are able to view the dbconsole Page & login
check below logs may be you can see the close error messages to solve the issue.
    <ORACLE_HOME>/<hostname_sid>/sysman/log directory
    <ORACLE_HOME>/<hostname_sid>/sysman/config/emoms.properties
Otherwise re-create the DBconsole using the metalink doc 278100.1 : How To Drop, Create And Recreate DB Control In A 10g Database. (Please check the steps from Recreate/ReConfig DB Control, if you want to re-create)
    Thanks.
