Xfinity tv iPad app: Play Now gives "Network Unavailable" error

When I try to use the "Play Now" function on the xfinity tv iPad app, I get this error whenever I try click "Play": "Network Unavailable. Please check your internet connection or proxy settings and try again." This is on an iPad sitting on my home network -- no proxy, strong signal. No other network issues on the iPad (I can browse, use Netflix streaming, etc.). I tried signing out and signing back in, tried deleting the app and re-installing. I can browse all of the other content in the app, so the app itself is clearly connecting to the network just fine -- it just can't play any content. Any ideas? Anyone else see this error?

There are two problems mentioned in this thread. Mine was mostly that the "lock orientation" slider is now the "mute slider". Last I checked, I could watch a few movies using Play Now even though I don't subscribe to any premium channels. However, I do need to sign on to my Comcast account.
I did remove the app from my iPad and reinstall it from iTunes on my computer.
The other user, jburst, was getting a "Network Unavailable" message after doing various troubleshooting. I don't know if they are still experiencing that.
dragynx, are you saying you are getting that "Network Unavailable" error? Have you totally quit the app? It's my understanding that the Play Now feature is available throughout the country.
I'm a customer like you trying to get it to work.

From Steve's blog, obviously the entire EBS is available for download, just as the 11i was and I am still downloading it right now(its usually huge - 72 parts, 35GB ), and will let you know my installation experience, successful steps and work arounds if any.
It will be a first from oracle if the download does not load the applications, which I believe will not be the case.
The download from edelivery site always include a trial licence, which does not allow you to deploy EBS as a solution, essentially for corporate use without obtaining a paid licence.
I believe Oracle Store just gives the opportunity of getting all the DVDs in the post, rather than you waiting till all download is complete and verified OK. - essentially saving you time and repeat downloads where download is corrupt.
SO lets all get in there and see the new EBS R12, apart from the size of the download(assuming you want the no new fees strategy) - See the installation requirements in terms of HDD space below;
Node: Space Required:
Applications node file system (includes AS 10.1.2 ORACLE_HOME, AS 10.1.3 ORACLE_HOME, COMMON_TOP, APPL_TOP, and INST_TOP) - 28 GB
Database node file system (Fresh install) 45 GB
Database node file system (Vision Demo database) - 133 GB
The total space required for a standard system, not including the stage area, is 73 GB for a fresh install with a production database, and 161 GB for a fresh install with a Vision Demo database.
Note: The database node disk space requirements for both the production database and the Vision Demo database include database
Not minding that staging requires 33 GB

Try downloading another app - any app - pick a free app and download it. See if that helps reset the iPad.
If that doesn't work, then reboot the iPad. Hold down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.

HT1766 I got a new Ipad mini and tried to back it up to look like my Iphone, however, it chose to pick the stuff from my wife's Ipad instead. Now I'm showing her games and apps instead of mine.

I bought an Ipad Mini and tried to setup the mini through Icloud. It selected all my wife's Ipad games and apps instead of my Iphone games and apps. How do I get it to show my apps and games instead of her's?

My NWS-NOAA Weather Prediction Mini Center Windows 8 app lets you quickly view the National Forecast Chart for three days, shows the Quantitative Precipitation Forecasts for up to 7 days, and view Excessive Rainfall Forecasts. It’s available now in the

Transfer Ipad apps on Iphone: do I need to buy again ?

I have bought a few apps on my Ipad. I want to transfer them on my Iphone 3 (they are mainly flash cards for my son). I have put them on Itunes, so far so good, but they won't transfer to my Iphone. They are Ipad apps, I now they certainly wouldn't fit on my Iphone, so my question is: do I need to buy them again if I want to put them on the Iphone ? It seems unfair to pay twice for the same thing...

I assume that you've checked that they are iPad only, and its not just that you havn't updated the iPhone to have the appropriate iOS version for them.
If they are iPad specific apps then they won't go on the iPhone or iPod, and, yes, you probably will need to pay for them again if you want them on the iPhone.

Font problems after update folio tools & iPad app

I updated all of my DPS tools and the ipad app and now for some reason one of my fonts looks very crunchy and jagged around the edges. It looked fine before I updated and now it looks horrible and I don't know what to do to fix it. Anyone know what I can do to make it look normal again, I'd really apreciate the help?

I have figured out that the problem seems to be with any text that I converted into a button. If I make it an object then it looks fine. I don't know why updating my dps tools would make all my buttons look horrible they looked fine before the update but at least I can do a work around now.

it's impossible to know how my particular combination of hardware and software (Finale music notation; Distiller; Imposition Wizard) is going to react in the absence of other people doing exactly the same thing.
You don't need other people's experience for this, just an extra drive with a partition where you can install an upgrade and test your requirements before moving to it permanently. Lots of people who cannot afford to have OS update problems work this way. Superduper has a "sandbox" feature which makes this really easy.
I always think that if you're going to reinstall the OS, best do it fresh rather than a clone that may already have some cruft on it.
Perhaps. The main value of the clone is that you can keep working without losing the time required to reinstall, which could be important for a particular user on a particular day.

Ah, well, then the notes are probably gone. Did you save any of the email from that account on your computer? The notes might be there if you did.

They don't exist in iCloud.
iCloud is Apple's service for backups and App data storage / syncing.
Purchased Apps, when removed from the iPad will still appear in your Purchased history, and you can still download them from "the" cloud which is just a generic term for Apple's App servers.
Purchased Apps can de re-downloaded for free from the "cloud". To allow you to do this Apple keeps a historic list of all your purchases so you can download them again should you ever need to without charging you again for them.
This has nothing to do with the iCloud service you can choose not to use. For Calendars, Notes etc...
It is independent un unrelated.
