First iPhone battery charge - average time?

Hello all!
So I know that the battery for the iPhone will charge until full and then automatically charge no more but I'm just wondering how long this generally takes? I've had it on the charger for about 3 hours now and it's still charging so an estimation in time would be much appreciated!
Thanks!
Cat

If you are using the wall charger and not a computer USB port it should take about 4 hours with the iPhone not in use, longer if you are using data or playing interactive games.

    Will iPhone battery charger work with my iPad 2 ?

    It does work but it's not recommended:
    iPhone charger is 5W
    iPad needs 10W
    So, yes you can charge an iPad but the iPhone charger will get spoiled and the charging will be very slow.
    Hope this helps,

    The iPhone includes a one year warranty.
    If you are in a country where Apple provides direct support and has an Apple store, you can contact Apple or make an appointment at an Apple store if there is one nearby.
    If you live an a country where Apple doesn't provide direct support - support for the iPhone is handled by the official carrier for the iPhone, contact your carrier.

  • IPhone battery charging message

    I just bought a new iPhone 3G a few weeks ago, I was charging it and while charging I pressed home button and unlocked it and I got the message saying: "Low Battery: 20% of battery remaining". The battery charging indicator was still in red, now it's in green and I don't get this message anymore.
    Is this behavior normal while it's charging?
    I thought this message would only appear while you're using it at 20% of charge left but not WHILE charging it!
    Thanks

    Yes, this is normal, and what you want it to do. Why would you not want to be warned of less than available 20% battery capacity while charging? You might have to interrupt the charge to answer a call and it's surely better to know the phone still has a low battery.

  • Simple script to get battery charge and time remaining...

    Here's something I threw together last night, to report on the battery at the command line.  It uses /proc/acpi/battery.  My battery is C11F, just substitude your own.
    It takes (remaining capacity) / (design capacity) to get the percent left, and it takes the (discharge rate) / (remaining capacity) to get approximate life.  If the rate is zero (which mine reports as when plugged in) it says the battery is charging.
    I don't know if this will work for other people, or if different batteries give different times of information to ACPI.
    #!/bin/bash
    current=`grep remaining /proc/acpi/battery/C11F/state | tr -d A-z | tr -d " " | tr -d :`
    total=`grep "design capacity:" /proc/acpi/battery/C11F/info | tr -d A-z | tr -d " " | tr -d :`
    rate=`grep "present rate:" /proc/acpi/battery/C11F/state | tr -d A-z | tr -d " " | tr -d :`
    percent=`bc << EOF
    100.0 * $current / $total
    EOF
    `
    if [ $rate -eq 0 ]; then
    echo $percent'%, charging'
    else
    hours=`bc << EOF
    (1.0*$current) / (1.0*$rate)
    EOF
    `
    minutes=`bc << EOF
    60.0 * $current / $rate - $hours * 60
    EOF
    `
    echo $percent'%, '$hours':'$minutes
    fi

    zen_guerrilla wrote:You can also try the 'acpi' pkg, which does exactly the same thing .
    Considering the acpi package is only dated a few days ago, I don't feel too bad about not knowing about it.
    BTW, here's an update I did to my script.  This one prints minutes less than 10 correctly (1:02 vs 1:2), as well as finding batteries with other names, and printing the CPU speed (nice if you have speed stepping turned on).  It rounds to the nearest 100MHz, which is easy to remove if you don't like it.
    #!/bin/bash
    speed=`grep "cpu MHz" /proc/cpuinfo | tr -d A-z | tr -d " " | tr -d :`
    current=`grep remaining /proc/acpi/battery/*/state | tr -d A-z | tr -d " " | tr -d :`
    total=`grep "design capacity:" /proc/acpi/battery/*/info | tr -d A-z | tr -d " " | tr -d :`
    rate=`grep "present rate:" /proc/acpi/battery/*/state | tr -d A-z | tr -d " " | tr -d :`
    int_speed=`bc << EOF
    ($speed+50) / 100 * 100
    EOF
    `
    percent=`bc << EOF
    100.0 * $current / $total
    EOF
    `
    if [ $rate -eq 0 ]; then
    echo $int_speed'MHz, '$percent'%, charging'
    else
    hours=`bc << EOF
    (1.0*$current) / (1.0*$rate)
    EOF
    `
    minutes=`bc << EOF
    60.0 * $current / $rate - $hours * 60
    EOF
    `
    if [ $minutes -lt 10 ]; then
    echo $int_speed'MHz, '$percent'%, '$hours':0'$minutes
    else
    echo $int_speed'MHz, '$percent'%, '$hours':'$minutes

  • IPhone battery charging in London and Paris

    Do I need a power converter to charge my iPhone in London and Paris, or will the charger handle the volatge in London and Paris with only a plug adapter?

    You just need a plug adapter as the charger that comes with the iPhone is multi-voltage.
    You could have seen that for yourself if you just looked at the charger.

  • Lenovo Vibe Z2 Pro (K920) battery charging time

    Hello everyone,
    I wonder, if anyone could help me, please.
    I'm experiencing an interesting issue related to battery charging procedure of brand-new Lenovo Vibe Z2 Pro (K920).
    The thing is, the first two battery charging procedures took about let say 2 hours 40 minutes both.
    But the third battery charging procedure took about 3 hours and 10 minutes exactly!, which I consider to be rather strange, mostly because of web reviews of this smartphone, where 2 hours and 30 minutes typical charging time is described.
    I understand the fact that brand-new battery has to be initially "formatted" and it's capacity is therefore gradually increasing after few battery charging attempts.
    Needles to say, after that third battery charging procedure, the battery life has been also significantly improved. I use genuine Lenovo charger which comes with the phone in the box. The only thing, which I changed since first two battery charging procedures, was turning ON "Core efficiency" in the Lenovo Battery Manager.
    Could it be the reason of such extended battery charging time or is it perfectly normal bacause of gradually improving capacity for brand-new battery? Could it be defective battery? Has anyone of the owners the same experience or what is yours typical battery charging time using in-box charger?
    Thanks in advance for any advice, suggestion, explanation.
    Martin

    Charge the phone for 15 minutes with the Apple charger. Then hold the HOME and SLEEP buttons at the same time until an Apple logo appears.

    From the above link...
    For proper maintenance of a lithium-based battery, it’s important to keep the electrons in it moving occasionally. Be sure to go through at least one charge cycle per month (charging the battery to 100% and then completely running it down).

  • IPhone 4S battery draining too fast...Need to charge 3 times a day

    Finally after 4 years I was very excited to get an iPhone that has all the features I wanted…but I am disappointed so far.
    I purchased an iPhone 4S 32GB on 10/7 and has not been impressed with the battery life. I have to charge my iPhone at least 3 times a day. I go to work at 8 AM and by 11:30 AM the battery is at 20 %, so I charge it again which takes only about 60 to 120 minutes to charge, and by 5:30 PM I have to start charging again…the third charge has start around 11:30 PM and I have to keep the phone plugged overnight otherwise it will be dead by 6 AM.
    I have read other posts on the web and people have suggested turning notifications, location services…etc which I went ahead and did but that did not change the battery issue. What is the purpose of having the iPhone 4S if all the features have to be turned off.
    I always try to kill apps that running in background but still no fix to battery issue.
    on 10/19/11 I went to Apple store and exchanged the phone with new one. The apple rep activated the phone for me and the charge was at 78 %. I left the store and 10 minutes later I was at my house, but again I was surprised to see the battery has drooped to 65 % within 10 minutes. While I was driving home I did not touch the phone or make/receive calls.
    When I got home I plugged the phone and when it was charge at 100 % I unplugged it and 40 minutes later the battery dropped to 70 %.
    Today I unplugged my iPhone 4s at 8:20 this morning with 100% and by 10:43 AM I am down to 63%. By 11:13 AM the battery was at 54% and by 11:46 AM the battery was down to 44% with me not touching it. I have turned everything off such notifications, locations services...etc and nothing in the background is working and I only used it for a 10 minute conversation.
    It seemed that a lot of users are have similar issue. Not sure if the issue related to iOS 5, iPhone or bad batch of iPhone or iPhone batteries.
    Before getting the iPhone 4S i had a 3GS from a family member that i had to charge at least 3 times a day. The only reason I got the new 4S is to not have to deal with frequent charge. I think I am 90 % close to returning the phone back to Apple and wait few months before attempting to purchase another phone.
    Thanks.....B

    What made the trick for me was to drain the phone completely - until it dies. (It took quite a while to go from 3% to 0...). Then, charge it overnight.
    Previous days I would start charging it with the battery at 10-15%, on red. Also for the last week I've been trying disabling functions, with the hope of finding what was the "offending" piece but without much success. Still was loosing about 10% per hour, just by using it to check emails, maps, and sometimes a call.
    Today is almost two hours since I left home, with everything turned on again, used mail, maps with traffic during the ride to work, some browsing - using it "normally" - and the battery is still at 95%.
    That looks more like normal to me.!!
    Might try to drain it to 0% again as many other suggested, but if it is a battery charger "calibration", it shouldn't be necesary to do it more than once.
