First iTunes 7 bug?

I have just upgraded to iTunes 7 and tested the new Get Album Artwork command. I have an iTunes store account on the UK iTMS store. The album I used for testing is ¨The Greatest Hits - Why Try Harder?¨ by Fatboy Slim [UK edition]. Despite the fact that the UK iTMS store shows the correct artwork (for the UK edition of the album) and despite the fact that the link from the album in iTunes goes to that correct album on the UK iTMS store and despite the fact my login is set to use the UK store, the Get Album Artwork command actually downloaded the US edition artwork and not the UK edition.
The URL for the correct UK edition is http://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewAlbum?id=155936130&s=14344 4
The URL for the INCORRECT US edition is http://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewAlbum?id=158138249&s=14344 1
Either it should download the correct artwork or it should let a user choose if there is more than one possibility.
Unfortunately this looks like yet another example of Americans forgetting the rest of the world exists.
I also note (this is not really a bug) that the Get Album Art command runs through your entire library even if you only have a single album selected. Users with much larger collections than me will probably find this painfully slow as a result. Fortunately I had already laboriously searched for and applied correct UK artwork to all my other albums and iTunes correctly left them alone rather than replacing them with more incorrect US versions.

If you look at the download button it should say "Download iTUnes 7.0.1" which is the currect version. To see what version you have installed NOW goto Help>About in itunes.
The first version of itunes & releast was 7.0.0.70
The latest bersion is 7.0.1,8

I upgraded to iTunes 11.1.4 and at first iTunes didn't work so i came on here and found a way to fix it. Now that I have fixed it my iPod does not appear on iTunes or on my computer.

Removed. Re-synced. Still not working. Factory reset the phone, re-installed music... made a GIANT "Other" file instead of actually adding any songs.
Factory resetting again. Any other solutions?
EDIT: If It helps, I'm doing this all over USB connection, not trying to sync music through wifi or anything.

  • I purchased my first iTune song on my computer in FL. I am now back in IL. Am I able to find the song for my IL computer?

For the first time I downloaded iTunes on my computer in Illinois about 2 months ago. I never bought a tune.  I went to Florida and downloaded iTunes on my computer in Florida.  I then purchased my first iTune.  When I came back to Illinois I thought i would be able to find the song I had downloaded in Florida but I cannot find/access it.  Did I do something wrong by not preparing the song while in FL for access in IL?  Can I access the song now from my IL computer?  Thanks.

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
You can re-download content purchased from the iTunes store (availability varies depending on location) using the purchased option from the Quick Links section in the top right corner of the iTunes homepage in your iTunes application on your computer.

  • Interesting Logic  iTunes bug?

    Hello all,
I have been trying to overcome this interesting problem the last few days. I have a great mix I've been working on for some time now, and when I bounce the file, everything seems to go fine. When I play the file in Finder, it sounds great, just how it should. As soon as I click and drag that file into iTunes, about a minute and half into the tune, it starts to sound... shaky. That's the only word I can use to describe it. Its not exactly "phasey" but its a mid point between choppy and phasey. Anyone else have this problem? This is brand new for me, and perhaps its an iTunes bug?
    Thanks,
    Brian Armstrong

    Hi Brian,
I'm still on Panther, but never had that problem or knew about it.
If I get some information on it, I posted to you.
    Cheers,

  • Video of an iTunes bug when purchasing music already purchased....

    Hi Apple iTunes,
I sent customer support a description of the problem, but it's difficult to actually describe what happens in an email.
So... this time I made a video of the problem. Please feel free to share with iTunes qe & dev team.
I just published the video to YouTube. The title is "iTunes bug" and the tags are iTunes, Apple, Rockit
And this is the link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qMuzUnqR-10
Hope this helps - it's much easier to actually show the problem than to try to describe it. If you would like me to make the video private to a specific YouTube user account for iTunes customer support, let me know and I am happy to oblige.
    Best,
    Gary

Hi Gary, welcome to Apple Discussions.
In summary the "bug" you are describing is this:
You can make a purchase from the iTunes store, which if you don't backup somewhere, it is possible for you to lose, either through hardware failure, loss, theft or an inadvertent sync.
The terms and conditions of the iTunes Store, set in part by agreements made with the various rights holders of the copyright material, permit a single download of each purchased item which you, as the end user, are encouraged to back up at the earliest opportunity. iTunes is no different from Amazon and other online digital resellers in this respect. There are stores which do permit subsequent downloads but it is not the standard model, at least with regard to media. Mobile Apps from the iTunes Store can be downloaded multiple times and it may be that over time the music industry will adopt the same model.
When using an iPhone or any other iDevice to makes purchases you should transfer these to an iTunes library as soon as possible and, further, you should also back up this library and and all its content.
In the event of an accident involving loss of data, e.g. a hard drive crash between purchase and backup then most stores will, if you explain the circumstances clearly and ask nicely, be prepared to allow a repeat download of the lost items, particularly if you are asking for one or two items rather than everything you've ever purchased. However there is no obligation for them to do so and while some users have had entire collections replaced that level of help will only be offered once, if at all.
If it matters to you, back it up...

    Hello I BLACK,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
If you have never authorized any other computers, this computer might be using multiple iTunes Store authorizations.  Please follow the instructions in the following article to deauthorize your computer.

  • ITunes bug using "Automatically fill free space with songs"

Using iTunes 10.1.0.54 on Windows 7 I've encountered an issue when using the "Automatically fill free space with songs" option with any of my iPod devices.
The first time I synchronized my iPod using this option everything worked as expected - all the music from my selected playlists was transfered to the device as well as "random" music to fill the remaining space.
However once I changed the content of the selected playlists and tried to synchronize the device again I got an over capacity warning since the selected music list was now larger than before.
The only way to properly get my iPod to sync again was to deselect the "Automatically fill free space with songs" option, sync (removing all the extra songs), then re-enable the auto fill option and sync again.
From a usability point of view this shouldn't be the expected behaviour. When the selected music set grows iTunes should randomly deselect music from the "auto fill" list on the iPod to allow the user to successfully sync their device.
Is this really the intended behaviour from Apple or is this a bug in iTunes?

  • Adding picture to mp3 files in iTunes Bugs found!

There is a bug when you adding picture to lots of music in an album. Which you when you finish adding the picture, some of them changed the picture...but there are some not changed. Those not changed picture mp3 files are all bugged, the bug is which your music will be repeating at the first few sec. Its kinda annoying! Need to delete the whole mp3 file away...
Please help to contact Apple about this bugs and fix it quickly! Thank you.

I was having the same issue with a few (not all) .m4k files on a NAS -- in my case the problem was something with file attributes/permissions (I'm using Windows 7).
ITunes could not change the actual file (rename/move to keep organized, add artwork, etc), though Windows would update the file date when I did attempt these things. Permissions seemed fine for the files, but the fix was to simply change an attribute and hit 'Apply' from the file properties window (right click file in File Explorer...Properties).
Specifically, most of my files had the Archive attribute checked, which I just unchecked and hit Apply. The issue wasn't the setting since all of my files have this attribute set and most can be edited by Itunes, but by changing the attribute, it fixed whatever weird issue there was with iTunes altering the file.

  • ITunes bug - Sync not working, not recognising free space on iPhone

After doing the latest iTunes update, I went to sync my iPhone 5 and got this error message, "The iPhone "X" cannot be synced because there is not enough free space to hold all of the items in the iTunes library (additional 3.24 GB required)."
However, I have 23GB left of free space, and there is nowhere near that amount of content to sync. It appears as though its not recognising the free space. I think it could be a bug in the latest iTunes update. Anyone had the same issue? Know of any fixes?

I'm not sure I understand what you mean. You said that you have 23 gigs left of space, but that you're trying to sync over 38 GB? Can you give me a separate number of how much space is currently being used on the phone and how much information it says will be on the phone once you've synced? that's the number that it gives you in the capacity bar before you hit 'apply'

  • ITunes bug? Rating stars won't click-drag left-right anymore

The latest iTunes patch (v10.1.0.54 running on Windows 7) seems to have an annoying bug: When I'm rating a song, it immediately takes my initial click, regardless of whether I hold down the mouse button -- whereas I used to be able to click in the area where the rating stars are, hold down the mouse button, and then drag out the stars to the rating I wanted, e.g. 4 stars. Now, however, iTunes ignores the fact that I'm holding down the mouse button and sets the rating at whatever position I initially click, e.g. 1 star.
The reason this is a super-annoying problem is that I only ever listen to smart playlists that filter out songs with low star ratings. So now as soon as I click a song to rate it, if I happen to initially click less than a 3-star rating, it immediately disappears. After I'm finished cursing at the computer, I have to go find the song under my general Music Library and re-rate it so it will show back up in my "smart" playlists. Grr.
Incidentally, I was able to drag the stars as normal one time -- but other than that one instance, it has not worked at all since the most recent patch. Please, Apple, please please please fix this bug. It's causing me a serious headache.

UPDATE: This bug only affects iTunes configured to allow half-star ratings.
I normally have my ItunesPrefs.xml file configured to use half-stars, with this line:
    <key>allow-half-stars</key>
    <data>
    dHJ1ZQ==
    </data>
After testing removal of the line, the click-drag on whole stars works normally. So it appears this bug exists only for those who only use half stars.
Is there any hope of Apple fixing the click-drag problem when half-stars are enabled?

  • ITunes Bug - iTunes changed video dimensions

I can't seem to figure this out:
    Used Handrake 0.9.1 to create m4v movie file at 853 x 478 H.264, AAC
Finder shows the dimensions at 853 x 478
Quicktime shows the dimensions at 853 x 478
However, iTunes has the dimensions at 1011 x 478. What is going on here? How can that be possible? Of course, now I can't get the file on to my ipod or touch at this size.
Anyone have any solutions? I am trying now the feature in iTunes to covert the movie to play on an iPod. Do you think that will work?
Is there any other work around?

  • Lost photos taken before first iTunes sync!

I bought my new iPhone out of town, and took several pictures before going home the next day and syncing it for the first time with my iMac/iTunes. I had iTunes copy all of my info from my iPhone 3G onto the new one. This kept the song and 3 apps I had already downloaded onto the new phone, but deleted all of the photos I had taken with it. I really need those photos back! I tried a data recovery program but the problem is I can't find any backup of the data from before the system "restored" all of my iPhone 3G info over to the iPhone 4. Any tips on finding these lost files? There are only about 20 or so but very important to me!

Photos in your camera roll are included in your iphone backup. When you restored your new phone from your previous phones backup, you effectively told the restore process to delete whatever photos were in your camera roll, on your new phone & replace them with whatever was in the backup you used to restore your phone.
When you restore your phone, a time/date stamped backup is created. If you restore your new phone from that backup, the photos in question should be restored to your phone. Once done, eject your phone, DO NOT SYNC, verify the photos are on your phone, then import them to your computer. Once done, reconnect your phone & restore again from your old backup, followed by syncing to restore your itunes content.

  • Itunes bug with MSN  notification sounds

just thought i would report this, considering the fourms is the only way i know of reporting bugs. but i noticed a problem with itunes7 . whenever i recive a notification sound from Windows Live Messanger and im playing music on my itunes, my music skips. the only thing i can do is turn off all notification sounds on msn so itunes playback doesnt skip.
off topic question... how do i change my display name for the fourms? (I really have no idea where to post this question)

This is a non fixable problem. I pretty much know it can't be fixed by user intervention.
The problem lies when something other than iTunes tries to use your soundcard. Soundevents in Windows, games you're playing while using iTunes, anything having to do with the soundcard.
The only way you can bypass this is if you disable sound events or any other sound card use when using iTunes. Basically making sure that iTunes is the only application using the sound card.
We definitely need a fix. Fast.
