First Mac!!! Which one to get for Photoshop?
I'm so excited, yesterday I got approval from my wife for a Mac. I've been a PC since the DOS days. This will be a bit of a learning experience, but I am looking forward to it.
The only "heavy duty" use the computer will see is Photoshop. I use Lightroom for 90% of the photos I take. The other 10% go into Photoshop.
I am struggling with choosing the right Mac.
I like the portability of the 13" MacBook Pro. I not sure it will be enough for PS.
My 2nd choice would be the 15" MacBook Pro. I like the higher resolution display (1680X1050) quadcore.
As I write this I am seeing the the 15" is really the way to go. What are your thoughts?

Looks good on the whole. But especially with Photoshop and Lightroom, you will seriously be holding back the top-line i7 processor, SSD, and 64-bit hardware you paid good money for, until you get well above the 4GB RAM. So get more RAM next, it will boost performance in the months while you wait for a cheaper SSD. I get my RAM at macsales.com, and if you have the cash they can even get you to 16GB.
If you want some photography-oriented performance analysis about the laptop you're buying, check the MacBook Pro/Photoshop/Lightroom tests at macperformanceguide.com. Note what he says about RAM in that article, and the difference more RAM makes with the apps you are concerned with. You don't have to get 16GB because it costs too much right now, 8GB will be great.
The last two laptops I owned had anti-glare screen. The one prior that them had a glossy screen. That is the only think I am apprehensive about. I sure it will be fine!
I was at the Apple Store the other day and they had the non-glare MacBook Pro in the showroom. It definitely looks duller than the shiny glossy screens. But I probably would buy the nonglare myself.

I've been using the iWork Pages program more recently after upgrading to Lion 10.7, since my Office 2004 will no longer run under Lion (it does run under my Snow Leopard partition, if needed, though). I am going to buy a macbook pro for grade 12, and I need to know wheather I should get a macbook pro or a macbook pro retina. If someone could tell me (in a very simple way) which one is,better for me and why, I would be ever so apprreciative.
Why do you need a expensive MacBook Pro?
Your attending high school and unless everyone else is rich also your likely going to be a target by the more poorer students for theft or damage to the machine.
You could keep it home, but if you need it for class then your exposed again.
Also at that age your not very careful yet, a MacBook Pro is a expensive and easily damaged machine.
Unless your made of money and so are others at your school, I would recommned a low profile, just does the job cheap Windows PC.
If it dies, gets lost, stolen or damaged because of your inexperince handling senstivie electronics then it's no big deal.
You can buy a Mac later on when your sure you have a need for it, currently there isn't much advantage of owning a Mac compared to a PC, they do just about the same things now, one just looks prettier than the other.
Since 95% of the world uses Windows PC's your going to have to install Windows on the Mac in order to keep your skills up there or be unemployed, so it's a extra headache and expense.

You have a 13" Early or Mid 2009 MacBook. Either one can run OS X Mavericks with enough RAM, 2 GB minimum. But first you will need to update to OS X Snow Leopard 10.6.8 so that you have the Mac App Store installed on your MacBook
Buy this from apple;

Then download and update with this update combo;
OS X Snow Leopard 10.6.8 v1.1 update combo

After this you will have the Mac App Store on your MacBook and you should be able to download and install OS X Mavericks for free!

If I start a one year contract for photoshop/lightroom, and then 6 months in, I want to upgrade to the full cloud, do I get out of the rest of the payments for the photoshop/lightroom, and just start paying a total cloud fee?

Do I need a screen guard for my Ipad? If yes which one to get? You get a **** lot of variety in the market.
I originally had a Zagg screen cover but they are tricky to install good. Too easy for a piece of lint or such to get under them. I replaced it with a cheap 'three covers for 5 dollars' screen protector. It's a bit annoying because its glossy....but right now I have my iPad in a Zagg portfolio so it's in a case with a keyboard - and there are little rubber bumpers that touch the iPad, and I like the thought of having the screen protector there just in case.
Look for one that advertises no residue and that clings more by static than any adhesive. I'd also look and see if it advertises clarity and a matte surface...the glossy iPad screen can be a bit tricky in the wrong lighting.
I'll always have one on mine, just because. I've sunk a chunk o change into this and I'd like to protect it. -
hi. I just bought my very first mac. I cant get to see youtube videos using safari. it says to upgrade my flashplayer. do I have to download the flashplayer?
It's no longer pre-installed for a number of reasons. Not the least of which is Adobe Flash requires such frequent security updates that any version installed at the factory is pretty much garunteed to be dangerously out of date by the time you get the machine in your hands.
Just go to adobe.com and download the latest version of flash player. -
Error Code: 34 Mac OSX 10.8.4 for Photoshop CC, Bridge CC, After Effects CC, and Flash CC

So I am installing all the CC versions of the software and all but Photoshop, Bridge, After Effects, and Flash installed without a hitch. On those 4 programs I get the same error code: 34. I am able to install the CS6 variants of them without any problem and run it. Here is the error code:

I have been unable to fix this on my own and with what I've found online. I'll list what I have done so far to try to fix this issue. I have tried to use the Adobe Creative Cloud Cleaner Tool but the issue is since PS, BR, AE, and FL won't install I can't clean them to try a fresh install. I tried installing the CS6 versions to see if it would dowload the 'Camera Profiles Installer_8.1".
Any help on fixing this ASAP would be much appreciated!

Hi. I am preparing for CA Bar Exam. I am considering buying MacBook Pro for exam writing. One is 13 inch 1499 dollar 2.5 GHz 8GB, the other is 15 inch MacBook Pro 2.7 GHz 2799 dollar 16 GB. Both are retina. Which one is better for me?
I will use Barclays Card for 18 month free interest.
I wil ask Apple clerk to avoid LG monitor.
I will buy those in Apple store.

Do you think you need 16GB of memory or 8 will be enough?
Do you need to carry your macbook around with you more often? if so just get the 13" it's easier to carry.

As for word processing it shouldn't be a problem on both notebooks.

An MBA is a portable while an iMac is a desktop and is not portable. You could install Windows on either provided each had sufficient memory installed and a large enough hard drive. The iMac is better equipped for this from the outset, but the MBA can be adequately configured if you are willing to spend the money to do so.

I want to watch TV on my MacBook, but I dont know if any off them will work, Elgato was the ones I was looking at. We have a satellite dish on the roof and have the digital sky box in the TV room, we dont have an aerial anywhere and only get very bad reception on the Irish stations, which I presume are decribed as analogue, are they? Antway what do I need to get TV on the MacBook? Anyone have it in Ireland? Im in Kildare.The Elgato tv tuners are excellent but which one to get depends on your TV reception. You need to find out if you can get Digital Freeview in your area. I can recommend the EyeTV Hybrid which is good for analogue and digital. The EyeTV Diversity great if you can get Digital but pointless if not.
Whatever you do you're going to need a decent arial if the reception is bad in you area. -

Thank you in advance.Use the iterator, or a foreach loop, which is just syntactic sugar over an iterator. The cases where there is a noticeable difference will be extremely rare. You would only use get() if you actually measured a bottleneck, changed it, re-tested, and found significant improvement. An iterator will give O(n) time for iterating over any collection. Using get() only works on Lists, and for a LinkedList, gives O(n^2).

I certainly owuld not get the 16 Gb. My old phone had 32 Gb and it was pretty much full. I just depends on what you wan tto place on it in the way music, apps, videos etc
