First my ichat wasnt letting me screenshare, now I cant video chat

About 3 days ago I noticed my ichat was not able to screenshare. I went to Audio and Video>screenshare and the option where you can click and unclick to enable/disable the screensharing was grayed out so I could not click it. Tonight, I noticed now I can't video chat (again, its grayed out in the options). My screensharing is enabled in system preferences. Why is this happening?

iChat is dependent on the Internet Speed it can "See" at launch to be able to do VIdeo Chats and Screen Sharing.
In iChat 4 and earlier there are two places these can be set.
System Preferences > Quicktime > Streaming
The default setting of Automatic is "read" as 384Kbps in iChat 4 (Earlier versions as 0kbps)
We recommend 1.5Mbps T1/LAN/Intranet as the "Best" option as th LAN/Intranet alone is also suspect in iChat 3
In iChat Itself, go to the Video Preferences and then the Bandwidth Limit drop down.
The Default is None.
Anything below the 200kbps will not be able to Video or Screen Share.
Do a Speed test and lets us know the Upload as well as the Download speeds you are getting.
If this is lower than you think you pay for try restarting the Mac.
If that does not work try rebooting the Router or modem. (With the Mac Off then reboot the Mac).

Apple did not erase iChat.
Messages in Mountain Lion is iChat +
The plus bit is the fact you can iMessage iOS devices.
All the other features that were in iChat are still there.
If you upgraded Lion to get to Mountain Lion then in System Preferences > Mail, Contacts and Calendars you probably list all the iChat Accounts (Screen Names and IDs).
You may need to enable them for Messages.
They should also show up in Messages Menu > Preference > Accounts
Once those accounts (AIM and Jabber) are Enabled they can be viewed in a Combined Buddy List
Windows Menu > Buddies (Or using CMD + 1 Keystrokes)
In the General Section of the Preferences you can Unlink these Buddy lists.
The Green icons or highlight a Buddy and then using the Buddies Menu or the icons at the Bottom of the Buddy list can be used the same way to start Video or Audio Only chats.
The iMessage "Account" is only for texting iOS devices or other people using their Apple ID on a Mac in Messages.
It is an account "in addition to" rather than "taking over from" the services that iChat can join.

IChat 5.0.3 to AIM 7.5 video chat problems.

I could use some help, please?
I have a cousin that live in another state and she wants to video chat with me and my mom.
My mom and I have Macs with Snow Leopard and iChat 5.0.3 and my cousin has a PC with Windows 7 and AIM 7.5. Both computers are notebooks and have Webcams built-in.
Whenever we tried to send a Video chat invitation from the PC to the Mac we would get a connection error on the Mac, but when we tried the same thing the other way (Mac to PC) it would go through and we can video chat. I am trying to figure out how to make Video chat invitations work both ways, iChat -> AIM and AIM -> iChat.
I have gone as far as changing the IM server on the Mac to match the IM server on the PC. I then tried to change the IM server on the PC to match the one on the Mac and got a connection error on the PC, so I just reset them both to their defaults.
I even went as far as turning off the firewall on the PC but that didn't work either. Now I'm stuck and can't figure out what to do.
Any information you have would help me and my cousin.

iChat and AIM Logins first
In iChat Preferences > Accounts Server settings the default Login in login.oscar.aol.com if you are not using the SSL option
It will add a leading s if you do and this is an automatic change (slogin.oscar....)
The Default port is 5190 but almost anything can be used (we Suggest port 443) Changing this port sometimes helps with Videos (It shouldn't but does) on some routers (Zyxels).
iChat and Video to PCs
Firstly Video and Audio chat have nothing to do with the Login port (Although that is used for Text chats)
The AIM on PC app uses 4 ports to do the Audio and Video In and Out feeds
(iChat 3 used to). iChat 4, 5 and 6 uses just one port to do the Video and Audio parts of the Chat (In and Out)
So iChat will send on port 16402 the SIP Invite (This is the behindf the scenes connection Process).
It uses the same port fro the A/V chat data.
If the PC starts then it sends an invite (SIP) on port 5061
When it connects it sends the data out on 2 ports from within the range 1024-5000 and asks for data back on two other ports (i.e one each for Vid in, Vid Out, Audio In and Audio out).
iChat does this by contacting a Server called SNATMAP.mac.com run by Apple just for connecting iChat Audio and Video chats.
This server helps the app negotiate the ports that are going to be used during the connection process.
(this happens on port 5678)
Now the Mac Firewall will allow any port that iChat Uses if the Firewall is On and iChat is allowed.
The AIM app is trying to connect on port 5061 when iChat is not already using it and this is most likely where the issue is.
WIth the Visible Invite iChat is supposed to use SNATMAP and this is supposed to "take" over getting the connection established but it seems it is not that smooth.
Possible workaround
Set the Login port to 5061 in ichat so the port is open anyway in the Mac Firewall.
Also make sure this port is allowed through your router.

Problem with ichat, error message says computer does not support video chat

I have never had a problem with Ichat until yesterday...now apparently I don't have the video capability. I am running 10.7.2. I turned off Facetime. I now have the video camera image but it won't let me video chat. Any ideas?

In iChat open the Connection Doctor (Video menu) and the the Capabilities option
Are all items showing Green ?
Try restarting iChat (It re-reads the computers Ability at each launch)
If that does not work try restarting the Computer.
Make sure that in iChat menu > Preference > Video Section the Bandwidth Limit is not set to 100kbps (this is too Low for 1-1 video chats)
Do a Speed test
"Real World" speeds need at least 256kbps both up and down.
Check the System Profiler is "seeing" the camera.
It will be in Hardware > USB

I cant video chat with other ichat users. ! :O

I have a mac mini with snow leopard and my ichat was working since i started using it. Under my green video camera icon there were like 3 or 4 panels or however many there are regularly. Now the only panel is the video camera and i cant vchat with other ichat users. but when i disable the camera all the panels appear. this happened after i had my macbook ichat and mac mini ichat on at the same time.
HELP PLEASEEE!

Welcome to the  Discussions
Scenario 1
Next to your Own Buddy icon at the top of the Buddy list your own Video icon should be "Stacked" if you can do Multi-way Video Chats.
As Audio chat take less bandwidth it is implied you can do Multi-way Audio Chats.
If your Icon becomes a single "Flat" one then so will your Buddies as you will only be able to Video Chat to them one at a time.
If you can Multi-way Chat but a Buddy can not (most likely a AIM on PC Buddy) then they will show a "Flat" iCon.

However these icons appear in a group at the bottom of the Buddy List, and are dark like this when a Buddy is highlighted.
From what you posted I am not entirely clear which part you are talking about.
I would rather be clear before we proceed.
Can you start though with a plain Shut down and reboot of the computer and then start up iChat ?
This will get iChat to recheck the Bandwidth (portion of your Internet Connection) it can "See" and it may do better now the other computer is not doing a Video chat.

IChat knocks off my wireless Airport connection on video chat

iChat on my MBP was working until Leopard. Now, every time I start a video chat with someone as soon as the connection is made it knocks my off my wireless network and I must go back in Airport and reconnect to the network. This happens every single time I try it and it's very strange. Any ideas? I have internet sharing off and the firewall on the MBP set to allow incoming connections, but it knocks me off no matter who starts the video connection, me or them.

Does it work if the Airport is not on the LAN ?

I was doing a Skype video call recently and I had a couple of people in the conversation. One of the people had his web cam on and everyone else had their web cams off. The person who had his on had some old plan or feature in place on his account that allowed for mulitple video chats in a call when Skype did not support that feature with newer accounts at the time. All of a sudden, I saw a message appear on the screen about being able to add multiple video chats to my Skype call for free. Has Skype really gone and added the capability of multiple video conferences during a call?

IChat. Why can I not get it to chat.

I know this is not the place to ask this but I have already tried the ichat threads and thought I would try here.
Does anyone know how to get ichat to work on a wireless internet connection. My sister just got an iMac and we signed up for an AIM acount. We can instant message but cannot videochat/confrence.
I connect to a Dlink DI-524 wireless router.

Hi, have been following your thread. I too had similar problems a few weeks ago and had a long back and forth sessions trying to get it to work. AIM would work via text chatting but not via video.
Ultimately I opted to just get a new router that worked. Firewall settings, port forwarding, DMZ's etc. I tried all of this but I still could not get the video to work. One member recommended the Buffalo Technologies High Power Router. Here is a link on where it can be purchased at a fairly good price:

Another option would be to purchase an Airport Base Station from Apple though they are a bit pricey, those will definitely work for you.
Perhaps you will get your existing router working. There are many knowledgeable people out there but in my case, there came a point where it was just easier to start over. Routers are NOT terribly expensive. Now I can video chat with no problems at all. Good luck

My facetime works but when video chatting in ichat it doesn't, how can I fix it?

Everytime I try to video chat with someone on ichat my green light goes on but i don't get a notification from them. and when i send a notification it either doesn't show up on the other persons screen or when we do try to connect it says a error has occured oon the other persons screen. The thing i dont under stand is why i cant Video chat but i can facetime with no preblem on my mac.

Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Repair Database. If that doesn't help, then try again, this time using Rebuild Database.
If that fails:
Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. (In Library Manager it's the FIle -> Rebuild command)
This will create an entirely new library. It will then copy (or try to) your photos and all the associated metadata and versions to this new Library, and arrange it as close as it can to what you had in the damaged Library. It does this based on information it finds in the iPhoto sharing mechanism - but that means that things not shared won't be there, so no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your events, albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

My ipod has logged me out of the game center, so I tried logging back in and it wont let me, it says something about itunes. So I looked online to try and find a solution. I eventually ended up logging out of my App Store and Itunes and now I cant log in

So I have an 5th generation Ipod touch. I was playing games and noticed that one of them started completely over and said to log into the Game Center. I tried to but it wouldn't let me. So I let it go, but then the Game Center app just poped up whenever I was playing a game and said that I needed to go to the itunes store. I did but I didnt know what to do. So I serched online to try and fix it. In the end I logged out of my App store because it wasnt letting me download anything and I also logged out of itunes. And now it wont let me log back in to any of my stuff and none of my ipod information will download to a computer. And it says that theres an error with my accounts. So should I try resetting the ipod or create new accounts or what? Please help me.

First of all, uninstall it with the uninstaller.
Then:
Install the ENGLISH version.
Change the language in the CC app to Korean.
Install the Korean version. (DON't uninstall the English version)
Change back the langauge in the CC app to English.
When your OS is running in English, InDesign will run in English with Korean functionality added, if your OS is running in Korean it will take the Korean User Interface, so let your OS run in English.
Every installer language will add needed plugins for the work with that language. E.g. If I install Hebrew, I get RTL functionality in German version, only if I would change the OS language it would change the language of InDesign, InDesign takes always as UI language the language of the OS if available, if not (in your case you have uninstalled English before), it takes any version which is available in the order of languages specified in the OS.
If you need to run your program in a different language than the OS but you have installed it in the language of the OS it becomes more difficult. You would have to use some system tools which are able to force a program to open with a different language. Most of those tools are freeware.

Unfortunately, most of my advice is in the "hindsight is 20-20" category.
First off, I would never have purchased the peripheral accessories until the 14 day return period had expired. Second, you learned the hard way what the "14 days" really means.
Too bad you didn't do any homework, reading this and other forums and tech sites. Even word of mouth from others. That, more than anything could have steered you towards different phone choices from the get-go and I will leave that there with no further comment other than to say most of the issues you described have been discussed in this forum, ad nauseam.
Once you got into the refurbished phone exchanges, that is where things really went haywire. What someone tells you over the phone is a sketchy proposition, and when it comes down to it, it's your word against theirs.
I think Verizon tried to make it right, though. Remember, they don't make the phones. Don't throw the baby out with the bathwater.
You stated yourself you were a satisfied Verizon customer before this. Had the first two phones performed as they should, you would still be a satisfied Verizon customer.
Doubt any of that will make you any happier, but after you went through the effort of writing such a long post, I thought I'd try.
