First slide pausing, without click box to initiate pause.

The fist slide of my project is a title page, that as of recently, has been pausing the entire video.
There are no click boxes or other objects in the slide (that I know of) that would initiate the pause. What's weird is, if I close Captivate, reopen the project and then preview the video the first slide does not pause and properly transitions into the second slide, however, if I preview for a second time the first slide will pause the video. I tried placing a blank slide in front of the first slide, deleting the first slide entirely and recreating from scratch but the same issues occurs.
Please, let me know what I can do to fix this issue.

Are there any advanced actions either on this slide or pointing to this slide?

  • Importing Power Point without click boxes

When I import Power Point, I don't want click boxes to come
along because I just have to remove them all later. That requires a
lot of time when your power point is really huge. Is there any way
to import without the click boxes so the slides will transition
smoothly without my havign to do anything?
    Thanks!

    Hi janablessed
When you create a project based on PowerPoint, note the
screen you see. Look closely near the bottom of the dialog. See
that drop-down choice labeled "Advance slide"? Click it and change
it from "On mouse click" to "Automatically".

  • Multiple click boxes on one slide; Pausing project

    I'm using Captivate 5.5.
I have four click boxes on a slide.  Three click boxes upon clicking show an image and then show a success caption.  The forth click box shows a success caption but also is set to "pause project until user clicks."
Unfortunately, if any of the three click boxes are clicked it advances the playhead even though the forth click box was never clicked.  How can I pause the project until only the forth click box is activated no matter if the other three click boxes have been previously clicked?

    Hello,
Default behavior of click boxes is to trigger the simple action that is assigned to it AND at the same time to release the play head. Even if those 3 click boxes had a pause, at the same moment as the fourth, this would have happened. If you put the pausing point of the fourth click box later than the pausing of the first three, it will work fine if the user clicks only one out of 3 click boxes.
If you replace the simple action by a (eventually one-line) advanced standard action, the play head is not released:

  • Enabling a button only after all other boxes on the slide have been clicked

    Hi,
I am using Captivate 5 but I am fairly new to it and have very little scripting experience so I think what I am looking for is possible but I am not sure how to go about it!
I have a slide with 10 click boxes which each link to a different slide with further information. Once the user has visited the additional slide they return to the original slide and can continue working through the click boxes to discover all of the information. This first slide also has a back and a next button to enable navigation through the rest of the project.
Ideally I do not want to force people to click these boxes in a particular order and I do not want to prevent them visiting the additional pages more than once. However I would like to set up the page so that the next button will only be enabled once all of the click boxes have been pressed. At the moment, i do not have anything to stop the user just continuing through the project without reading the additional information.
Any help would be much appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Mary

    Hi Lilybiri,
    Thanks for your reply,
I think I would be able to use the second option of using buttons that became greyed out and then a next button appears on the slide once all of the pages have been visited.  Would you be able to send me the template please?
I have a couple of other questions as well, I hope you don't mind! - Is it possible to do this using an image button rather than a transparent one or does this make it much more complicated? At the moment I have targets on the image which have a click box placed over them. It would be easy to change this to just the background image with the targets as image buttons but I am not sure I would be able to create the same style with the transparent button?
I would need to increase the number of variables to 10, if I follow the same naming conventions etc would this be a relatively simple process?
Finally I would not want the checkmarks to appear, how easy is it to make this change?
Sorry for all the questions but I really appreciate your help!

  • Multiple Click Box Quiz Answers on the Same Slide

Hello. I am using Captivate 5.5
I have a quiz slide with two click boxes that are both correct answers.  When a learner clicks either of them, I want them to advance to the next slide and score as "Correct".
The problem is since they only click one of the boxes, they never receive enough points to pass the quiz (since each box has earns credit towards the final score).
Does anyone have a solution or work around for this?
    Thanks.

I have already watched the videos, but we still end up 1 answer short.  Essentially no correct scores are being reported from that slide that contains the Master Widget.
Here is the exact set up we have:
Two click boxes that are correct answers.  Neither are set to report to quiz.  If either box is clicked the slide advances (and theoretically a correct score of 1 should be added).  If they click anywhere else on the slide it should advance the slide without adding the point to the total score.
The Master Widget is set up the following way.
Slave Objects: Both of our correct click boxes are listed as slaves
Scoring: Under "Slave Scoring" we have both click boxes set to "1" on Success and "0" on Failure
Success/Failure: We have chosen "Success" and "Based on Slave Success/Failure"  - "Report Success if any 1 slaves report Success"
Evaluate: We selected "Evaluate each time a slave evaluates"
Misc: We left all of these in their default position.

  • Pause using Button or Click Box?

I have been trying to get a slide to pause in the middle
using buttons or click boxes. I can get the slide animation to
    pause but the audio continues.
The only way I have found that works is to do considerable
editing to split the slide into two and make the button/box timing
end up at the end of the slide. This is a real pain. I have been
setting the "pause after" property in the button/box and it would
seem this should be a basic Captivate function but I cannot figure
    it out. Please help!

    Hi again
    You said:
It just seems like the capability to pause a slide and give the
option to restart via a button/box should be basic for this program
and I must be missing something.
Yes, the capability is there. The Click Box or Button do that
now. Your particular issue is with audio. One thing you can do is
break the audio into chunks. Maybe even assign to objects such as
    Captions.
You should also consider submitting a Wish Form alerting the
development team that a new option would be welcome. The option to
pause audio as well if pausing the slide using a Click Box or
    Button object.

  • 3 click boxes one slide - each to jump to different slide - none working !

    Captivate v5.5
I am trying to set up Branching and have create one slide with 3 options. Each option has a click box and set to Jump to slide X, Y Z.
Tried everything but none of them are working. Nothing happens.
Could there be a conflict when there is more than one click box on same slide ?
    Noel

    Lilybiri,
    Think I have resolved it.
I created my 3 click boxes on my branching slide and started preview from the branching slide with F8 - nothing worked.
I went back to one slide before my branching slide, started the F8 from there and when I got to the  branching slide all 3 click boxes worked and jumped to their correct slides!
Not sure why starting from previous slide would fix it - but it seems to be working - at least via F8.

  • Is there a way to have TTS for multiple click boxes on same slide?

    Hi all,
Using v.7 and Win 7 here. Have a project where I am using Paul's Text-to-speech TTS voice. So far so good. I need to build an interactive slide with mulitple click boxes so the learner can gauge where they are at in the projects progress. Is there a way to use TTS for these mulitple click boxes on the same slide? I see that you can import audio as an MP3 or .wav file but don't know how you would generate the TTS and save it seperately so it could be imported.
    Thanks for the help

Just generate the TTS on a separate slide and then assign the audio file created in the LIbrary to whatever object you need.

  • Captivate CS4 - Trouble using the Click box

    Hi.
I'm hoping someone can help with a frustating problem I am having.
I'm using captivate 4, and have several slides in my project.
I have a next button on the slide, with a click box set to pause until the user click the area. Once clicked the slide moves to the next slide.
However, on the same slide I have two buttons - one which opens a video file (so the button opens a URL when clicked), and a button on a different part of the slide which open a different URL link to different video..
The click box seems to work, and doesn't move on to the next slide when the first button is clicked on, opening up a URL video.
However, when I then click on the next button which opens up the second URL video, the slide suddenly moves onto the nextslide, without me clicking on the Click box area.
Why is this happening? It seems to work fine, until I place two buttons on the same slide, and the second button is clicked. I don't want the slide to move on until the user clicks the click box area.
    Please can someone help!
    Thanks

    Hi,
After a good night sleep I think I may have resolved the problem (I think). On the two buttons, they are set to open a URL link. Next to where I input the URL link, there is a menu where I select the option 'New' to open the video in a new internet window.
What I didn't realise in at the bottom of that same menu, there is also an option to select 'continue project'. If I de-select this, if I then click on the button the project remains paused as it should (until the user clicks the click box). So, originally what was happening is I had the 'continue project' selected for both those buttons, and this was overpowering the click box pause project function.
Fingers crossed it works. It seems to be on my tester!
    Thanks

  • Multiple click boxes in the same page

I'm trying to include 4 click boxes in the same page in Captivate 5. The idea is when user clicks on each box, the content reveals and stays on the screen. The first click box works fine. But when click the second box, the content shows only for less than a second and then quickly moves to the next screen, and of course, there is no chance to even get to the 3rd and the 4th one. Can anyone help me? Thanks!

    Hi Lilybiri,
Does this mean that the user has to click the click boxes in the order that you stagger the pauses? For example, if I'm showing a picture and instructing the user to click on any area to get more information, they could really click on any area first - however will that click box pop up if that click area was not the "first" pause in my timeline?
Also, how do I get the "success" caption text to stay on the page? I don't want it to fade so that the user can see all of the info. once they've clicked each box. I've checked to make sure that the "fade out" option is off, and I'm assuming I can't have the click boxes "display for the rest of the slide" since that would ruin the pause increments.
    Thanks!

  • Captivate 7 - Multiple Click Boxes not working

I would really appreciate some help on this. I've been reading the forums and it looks like this pops up again and again. I've tried some of the solutions, but I can't seem to make it work.
I have a slide with 8 click boxes on it. I would like for the user to click on box and then get a definition in the form of a text box. I'd like for them to be able to click on 1 box or all the boxes before they move on. I'd like for them to choose to move on with a "Continue" button that goes to the next slide.
On the preview playback, only 3 or 4 of the click boxes will work. Then, the click boxes stop working. It's not the same 3 or 4 boxes, but just the first ones that work. If I remove a pause on the continue button, it will work. Otherwise, it stops as well.
Initially, I tried to do this as a simple action. Then, I read that Advanced Actions will allow the playback to continue. The Advanced Action is 1 line that is Show and then the Text Box.
Below is my timeline. I'd appreciate help with this!

Did you see this thread: http://forums.adobe.com/message/5826235#5826235 ?
What is the function of the Buttons on that slide (they have no pausing, are active all the time): especially the Last Attempt action?
What is the Last Attempt action for the click boxes?
    Important: how did you preview?

  • Keyboard shortcut does not work on first slide in Web Browser

I'm using a workbook to learn Captivate.
I added a keyboard shortcut, the Enter key, to buttons on the first and second slides.
When I preview the project in Captivate, the shortcuts all work.
When I preview the project in a Web Browser (specifically Firefox 3.6.16), the shortcut does not work on the first slide, but does work on subsequent slides.
Any ideas why this would happen?

    Welcome to our community
The issue is typically a matter of focus. Particularly in Firefox. In IE, when the page loads and is presented, the Flash object (your Captivate movie) is given focus. So the keyboard shortcuts work. But that doesn't happen in Firefox. In Firefox, you must first click somewhere on the Flash object to give it focus. From there forward, shortcuts work because the Flash object is now listening for them.
In every class I facilitate I demonstrated this and advise that it's a good idea to have a button on the first slide. This serves two purposes.
It forces the user to click to proceed
It keeps the first slide paused until the user is ready
Yeah, before someone comes along and says: (in an annoyingly nasal tone) Mr. Man, you KNOW there is an option in Captivate to keep it paused at the start... I'm well aware that Captivate offers this option without adding a button, but I prefer it for the reasons above.

  • Any way to disable quiz click boxes from a parent SWF?

We've got a parent SWF that serves as a navigational shell, allowing users to move between different Captivate slides which are essentially embedded SWFs. Some of these SWFs are Captivate hot spot quizzes. We've run into a fairly significant issue - when a Captivate slide has a click box, it sets up an event listener for that box. Unfortunately, when a user moves off of that SWF, the event listener is still in place (note: we're not actually unloading the SWF, we're simply hiding it and showing the next SWF). Once a user clicks into the new SWF, the following exception gets thrown:
TypeError: Error #1009: Cannot access a property or method of a null object reference.
    at captivate.veela_as3::rdClickHandler/CheckSpriteClick()
    at captivate.veela_as3::rdClickHandler/CheckAllClicksDown()
    at captivate.veela_as3::rdClickHandler/onMousePress()
We've narrowed this down to the click boxes and the event listeners associated with them. I need to know if there's some way that our parent SWF can call into the Captivate quiz SWF in order to disable those click boxes once the user moves off of the SWF. I know that we can disable them from within the quiz itself using an advanced action, but I'm just not sure if the same can be done from an external SWF (ideally, we would just call an advanced action from the parent SWF - I have no idea if this is possible).
Any help would be much appreciated.
    - Terence

First question, why are you simply hiding and not unloading them?
If you can hide, I am assuming through a visible false or alpha = 0; then it seems like you would have the ability to relocate them as well, and since the loaded swf is housing its own buttons and hit areas they would move with their parent...
So a cheap fix if you can access the objects would be to move them out of view, like to
    .x = -5000
    .y = -5000
That might work...and might be the easiest way to "Re-add them to the stage without losing info, I am assuming the hide and not unload is for keeping score or something?
You could then move them back to 0,0 if you needed them again...
    might help you

  • Maximize browser using button or click box within SWF

Is there a way to maximize the browser the SWF is being shown
in using a button that executes javascript? What javascript can be
    used?
Our training links directly to the SWF so that it scales
based on the browser size. I would like to make the browser start
out maximized or give the user a button to click that would
    maximize the browser for them.
I've tried adding a button that ran javascript to maximize
the screen, but nothing happened. I don't know if it is bad
javascript, if I need to add more to the javascript, or it simply
    doesn't work.
This is exactly what I put in the javascript section of the
button. The button is set to execute javascript on click.
    window.moveTo(0,0);
    window.resizeTo(screen.width,screen.height);

  • Click Box ?

    I have a slide with 3 click boxes that launch 3 pdf's in a
new window. I also have 2 click boxes for nav. next/prev. The Nav
boxes are set to pause project until user clicks and the pdf click
boxes are not. If I click a pdf click box it launches pdf in new

On the Click Box tab of the Properties window for the PDF
