First smartphone and I'm confused - loads of questions

So, I'm trying to get a handle on this new Blackberry. I'm upgrading from a Motorola RAZR v3 and the learning curve is steeper than I expected.
I bought it unlocked from amazon.com, and have slid my T-Mobile Prepaid service SIM into it (no data plan). I've managed to get my contacts into it (not perfectly, but they're there). I figured out how to phone and text (yay).
After some issues I finally convinced my router that it was OK for the Blackberry to connect. I figured out I need to use the Hotspot Browser to surf the net through my wifi connection, and successfully went to gmail and to my personal website.
First question: How do I zoom a page?
Second, I seem to be able to surf fine, but when I check the status, Wifi doesn't have a checkmark, it has a dash. I'm pretty sure it had a checkmark when I first set it up last night. What does the dash mean and how do I fix that?
Where my real problem is is setting up email - when I go to Email Setup, I only get the 'corporate email' choice. This is not helpful
I need to know better what the unit's limitations are as far as internet access - I thought I could use it like my Ipod Touch, which of course has *only* wifi. I have set up email on it, no problem. I read in different places that it doesn't need a data plan for email, in other places it requires a data plan to "use wifi". Well, for what, since I can surf the net fine?
Also could use some advice as to how I get extra applications, and whether they'll work via the phone connection, wifi, both, or neither.
Oh! And one reason I bought this particular phone is that it supports UMA - it's supposed to go to WiFi during a call if the cell link is too weak. My cell link in my house sucks (even with a cell extender). Question is, on a phone with no data plan but a strong wifi connection, will this function work?

Are you Tmobile in the USA? Their BlackBerry Data Plan costs $20/month, if I recall correctly.
You pay that for the BlackBerry Data Plan. If you want less, like an iTouch plan, you less, and you get less. So you get what you pay for. Did the tmobile people not explain this to you?
I don't know what you signed up for on the website, but if it was the BlackBerry Data Plan or BlackBerry Internet Service plan for individuals, that is what you need. Last time I looked, it was $20.
Anyway, a company has a right to charge what they feel the market will bear for their product. AT&T charges $30 and I think Verizon does the same for $35.

You need to ask Apple to reset your security questions; this can be done by phoning AppleCare and asking for the Account Security team, or clicking here and picking a method, or if your country isn't listed in either article, filling out and submitting this form.

1. How can I check my data plan usage so I won't go over?
2. Can I delete the pre-loaded icons I don't want such as 'Stocks' (I prefer a different site for that)?

AT&T has a free app for the iPhone that provides for this along with being able to view and pay your bill. If Verizon does not have an iPhone app, there should be an option to request current usage at Settings > Phone > Verizon Services. There is an AT&T Services option so I assume there is a Verizon Services option as well.

None of the included apps can be deleted.
3. How can I rearrange the icons?
Included with the user guide. Apple includes a bookmark with the Safari browser on the iPhone for access to the user guide. Press and hold on any icon until all begin to wiggle. Select and drag the icons where you want and when finished, select the Home button.

I just setup sync for the first time. Now everytime I load firefox a tab called "Your First Sync" will open, or it will load during an internet session...???

Just installed firefox sync on firefox 18.0...ran the first sync, and now whenever I load firefox, or in several minutes of continuing using firefox, a tab called "Your First Sync" appears...even after closing firefox or the tab. Wondering if I can get some support on this. Thanks

Read only af:table first row select and focus on form load

I use a read only af:table in my page. When my page loads and I click on my table, then I can use up / down arrow keys to navigate in my table's rows. But if I don't click on the table, I can't navigate in my table's rpws.
What can do in my page to give the first focus to my table's first row and navigate in my rows without using mouse clicks....

Hi,
actually findElementById does work, but you should use the ADF client side framework for this. Add a clientListener to the component that intercepts the keyboard usage and make it callin the next record on the table.
I'll take a note for a how-to to put on my blog as I don't have the code ready. However, its possible this way

You are only as young as you feel......
This is an example of how you can select the exact content that you want to sync to your device. You do not have to sync the entire iTunes library. You can pick and choose the music, apps, books and so on that you want to sync. This is using music as an example.
Connect the iPad to the PC and launch iTunes.
Click on the iPad name on the left side under devices.
Click on the Music Tab on the right.
Click on only the albums or playlists that you want to sync.
Click on the Sync Music Heading.
Click on Apply in the lower right corner of iTunes
You can do this with apps, books, movies .... Whatever .... You have the freedom to sync whatever you want.

In Mail's Window Menu, choose Connection Doctor, any red dots for status, if so what is the message?

I am trying to execute the below code as provided from one of the blogs. i am able to run the job only once based on a file watcher object(i.e. for very first time) and after that the job is not running at all and if i schedule the job to run automatically based on interval of 10 or more minutes it is executing properly). I updated my iPhone 5S to iOS 7.0.2 and iBooks will not load anything from the Store- I cannot search or even view my purchases.
Also Safari keeps crashing. I have shut down the phone and restarted it twice and that hasn't helped. Any ideas?

Did you actually download the installer from Apple or did you use Software Update. You can download the installer http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
Maybe I'm old fashioned but I would consider repairing permissions first using Disk Utility because something caused this to go wrong the first time. And of course make a backup of your whole library first. It shouldn't happen but some have complained about their libraries being wiped out by iTunes updates. Better safe...

I put ON my macbook pro and right during the loading, all sudden OFF, no more sound nothing, poufff!

My boyfriend surprise me this morning, my MBP is alive! Just one problem, my MBP is new like as I bought it yesterday. I have no more my documents or my school stuff in it. I'm gratefull, because my next semester start only tomorrow so it's not a big deal but it seem that the problem was an error 11 with the update of Lion. MBP wasn't able to load the update, what a rush, I think I just got the first virus on APPLE or a big bug of APPLE. I'm calling the repare in Québec, tomorrow. He did what you wrote but that erase all my things! Be aware of that if you have the same problem as me!

this is all greek to me. WHAT IS STARTTLS? On the first page of Apple set up there is a TLS certificate and it is marked NONE- should I change it to the long APPLE CERT option? The next page under ADVANCED: THERE IS A BOX SSL MARKED. Then IMAP Path Prefix - I put stmp.gmail.com.. is that right? Port 993 can use this one? as 456 doesn't work and 587 said it wasn't safe. Under AUTHENTICATION I used PASSWORD. Should I have used external client cert TLS?
