First song on CD from iTunes store doesn't play

I recently downloaded a CD of a friend of mine, (Lissin' - Stream of Thought), but it doesn't play the first song. The song downloaded and I can see it and even select it in my library but it has no album art and won't play. The rest of the CD works flawlessly...

Assuming you are in a region where you are allowed to redownload your past purchases, delete the current copy from your iTunes library and then download again from your purchased history. If the problem persists, or that facility is not available in your region, contact the iTunes Store support staff through the report a problem links in your account history.

Unless you subscribe to iTunes Match , Apple does not keep a backup of your iTunes library.  Even then it is not the library as it exists on your computer, but some version of the media, and only media files, not playlists.  Even then not all media are definitely available since anything removed from the iTunes Store since you purchased it is not available for re-download.

In your case it sounds like you will have to obtain non iTunes purchases from their original source or a backup you may have made at some time in the past.

  • Playing Songs just downloaded from itunes store

My brother just got a brand new iPod video and we are using the gift certificate to get free songs. We are able to download them on to itunes library and even on to the ipod. But when I try to play the songs we just purchased the screens comes up like it is about to play the song and then it goes back to the main menu of the iPod. I thought it was the song at first so I used my other iPod video and the song started playing on my ipod, but not on my brother's. Any idea why it won't? I updated the ipod, and restored it. I tried everything I could think of.

If your country's iTunes Store allows you to redownload purchased tracks, I'd delete your current copies of the tracks and try redownloading fresh copies. For instructions, see the following document:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
Otherwise, I'd report the problem to the iTunes Store.
Log in to the Store. Click on "Account" in your Quick Links. When you're in your Account information screen, go down to Purchase History and click "See all".
Find the items that are not playing properly. If you can't see "Report a Problem" next to the items, click the "Report a problem" button. Now click the "Report a Problem" links next to the items.

  • Audiobooks purchased from iTunes store doesn't show up in most audiobook apps

I purchased my first audiobook recently.  I saw it at Amazon on my pc, but decided to purchase it at iTunes (on my pc) because I figured I'm going to be transferring it & listening to it on my iPhone so I might as well purchase it at iTunes.  Well, I'm wondering if that was a wise decision because I'm finding that the audiobook I just purchased can’t be located in most audiobook apps.  There are a few apps that can play it.  For example:
The default Music app in my iPhone:  but the disadvantage is that it doesn’t seem to have the bookmark feature which is probably the most important feature for audiobooks.
Audible: This is the app from Amazon which found the audiobook but all the chapters have been removed since it was purchased from iTunes.  Had I purchased it directly from Audible/Amazon, then the chapters would have remained intact.
Most other audiobook apps are more interested in having you sign up with them and getting your audiobooks from them.  That’s fine but it seems counter-intuitive that they don’t play existing audiobooks you may have purchased from somewhere else (like iTunes).  I’m actually surprised the iPhone doesn’t come with a default audiobooks player (with bookmark feature).
So for now I plan to stick with the Audible app and purchase future audiobooks from there (in order to keep the chapters intact).  Can anyone recommend any other way to do it or another app that will play audiobooks purchased from iTunes that have a bookmark feature and keeps all the chapters intact?
    iPhone 5
    iOS 7.0.2

Regarding the default Music app in my iPhone, I also play alot of songs in that app.  If I play a song after I listen to the audiobook, wouldn't it last stop at the song instead of the audiobook?  That's why a real bookmark feature would be nice and that's why I'm surprised Apple didn't come out with such an app.

  • Song purchased from iTunes Store won't play on my computer

Several people have posted variations on this question but I haven’t been able to find a coherent explanation of, or fix for, the problem.
I have downloaded all my CDs into iTunes and synched them to my iPod. Everything downloaded from CDs plays fine.
I bought and downloaded one song from the iTunes store. It appears on playlists, but I cannot play it using iTunes. When I click on it I get the blue highlighting but nothing happens when I click on the “Play” arrow. (I can play it using Quick Time). My computer is authorized.
When I synch the iPod, I get the error message “(song) was not copied to the iPod (my iPod) because it cannot be played on the iPod.”
I noticed that the files copied from CDs are .m4a files and the file downloaded from the iTunes store that won’t play is an .m4p.
I think this is some kind of rights issue. Can anyone explain what the problem is? Thanks in advance.

The trick of deleting the song to the Recycle Bin, dragging it to the Desktop and then back into iTunes worked. My guess is that because our computer was not authorized at the time of the purchase (this was our first purchase from the iTunes Store), the original file downloaded in a protected format. The computer has since been authorized, so the Recycle Bin ruse tricks iTunes into thinking it's a new file. I would still like to hear a confirmation of this from someone who knows though. Also, Apple should tell people to authorize their computers before making any purchases. It will save some confusion it seems.
    Thanks for the tip.

    Hi Watunka2,
    Welcome to the Support Communities!
What are you trying to accomplish?  Are you trying to move your iTunes library from your PC to your external drive?  Or, are you just copying your music files to your external drive as a backup?  The following articles will explain how:

  • Movie Downloads from iTunes Store won't play on my Mac or iPhone

Have just downloaded my Star Trek digital copy from the iTunes store; it is sitting on my Mac's hard drive as a .m4v file of nearly 2Gb; seems OK. However, if I click on 'play' in iTunes it shows a progress bar playing in iTunes & in the separate movie window I get a blank screen & no sound. I then sync'ed it with my iPhone & when I go into the iPod on the iPhone & play the movie I get the error "This movie could not be played". I have some podcasts on the Mac & iPhone & they work OK on both platforms.
Now I understood that the .m4v format was alright to play on both my Mac & on the iPhone but it's not working for me...anyone encountered this before / got any ideas pls?
    Appreciate any help thx...Brooke.

Same issue. I've been buying TV shows and movies on iTunes for a long time and copying them to my iPhone to watch on my TV. A few days ago, I tried to move a rented movie to my iPhone the same way I always did, click the "move" button next to the movie under the movies tab for the iPhone in iTunes when iPhone was connected and then click "apply". It would do a quick sync without copying anything.
I thought I had a bum file, so I e-mailed Apple support and they reset the purchase so that I could redownload, which I'm doing now.
But my recently downloaded episodes of Lost will also not copy to my iPhone. AND they will not even play on my iMac. When I try to play them, it shows only a grey screen with a progress bar. TV shows and movies purchased and downloaded weeks or months ago still play fine.
No changes have been made to my system. After the rented movie didn't play and copy, I did a update check and downloaded and installed the latest versions of iTunes and the iPhone firmware. That didn't fix it. I have the newest versions of the Quicktime and iTunes. The computer is authorized for these purchases. The iPhone is authorized.
I've looked at similar threads and have not found a solution. I'm stumped. If anyone has a solution let me know.

  • Purchased video from iTunes and doesn't play

I downloaded it from iTunes.  Then when it showed up it had a cloud next to it.  I clicked and it went to download again, so I stopped it.  I went to videos and it  and it was the so i started playing it and stopped it figured i was good to go.  Went on a trip 2 days later on the plane with no wi if and went to watch it and nothing. What a disappointment , as the reason I got this was to watch movies without being connected.
I'm new at this so any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks

Are you sure the movie downloaded completely? If you buy a video on iTunes you so not need WiFi as long as you have allowed it to fully download. That cloud you saw was telling you that it was avaliable on iCloud if you accidently delete it off your iPad. Try going to the Purchaces tab in iTunes and re-downloading it, ensuring that it downloads completely.
If you still have troubles after downloading it again, try accessing iTunes on your computer and downloading your movie there (iTunes won't charge you twice if you've bought it). After it's downloaded to your computer, sync your iPad and try it again.
    Hope this helps!
