First song on every cd skips.

Every CD I have imported to my iTunes collection skips on the first song, every single one skips at the four second mark. Playing the CD's in a CD player shows no sign of this hiccup, can anyone tell me how to fix this? The songs I buy from iTunes are fine, but the ones in collection, the first song of every CD anyway, is screwed up.

Don't know why it didn't work the first time, but I went back and individually selected a song that was skipping and "converted it to AAC". Works now, thanks for the idea.
Ain't technology grand?

  • First song on Imported CD Skips?

I have the latest edition of itunes. Whenever I import a CD into itunes, the first song on the album will skip :04 in like clockwork. The skip only happens once on the song. I have tried the edit/preference/importing/error correction when burning CD option. It doesn't seem to rid the skip problem. This has happened during the past 5 or 6 CDs I have imported. The last one I tried was brand new. Should I reinstall itunes?

That importing suggestion from one player first and then into itunes seems to work. It's a bit of work importing the song to another player and then converting but if it works, it works. Perhaps my problem is just a glitch that will go away once a new version of iTunes is available.
    thanks

  • Zen Stone Plus Speaker. Browse music without starting the first song in the next fold

    Hi everyone,
I'm not sure what I want is possible.
I've had this player for about a?week now and I believe I could browse to the folders while listening to a song. For some reason when I do that now the player?start playing the first song of every folder when I browse through it.
I'm starting to doubt if I remember it right that it was possible to browse through while listening to a song before?
I tried playing with the setting and even did the recovery tool thing to put the player back at the setting it came with. But it didn't work.
Anyone know if this is posible, and how?
    Thanks.

Tag support: the ability to select music by album/artist/track instead of folders
Display always on option - i know its to help save battery life but sometimes it would be helpful if the display stayed on
Display artist and song name, inst4ead of just the song name/file name
Alarm clock function: my Zen stone plus has a speaker, and a clock function. My Zen Xtra has a clock and an alarm clock function but no speaker other than headphones (if any are plugged in) for the alarm to sond through, the same is true with my visio:M? the Zen Stone plusw/speaker has a clock but no alarm, and if anything it would make a fantastic little alarm clock with a 'sound' to music or wsound to beep? function.

  • First song on all albums on my iPod classic timing pauses causing click wheel to freeze. Why?

I have a iPod classic 120g 6th generation, and have no major problems since I recieved a replacement one back in 2011 when the hard drive went bad. Just recently my iPod has sbeen freezing at the 2 second of every first song on every album on my iPod. This is causing my iPod's click wheel to become unresponsive for at least 30 seconds everytime. Can this issue be fixed or not without me purchasing a 7th genration one? It will be my fifth ipod if I do have to.

I finally resolved my problem after spending way too much time on it. I simply handed my 160GB iPod to my husband to put his fav Stones & Beatles songs on and I went back to my 80GB Microsoft Zune which has never disappointed me.
After spending so much time trying to figure this out I did finally take it back to Apple Store who performed a diagnostic and found there was a problem with the device. They replaced it with a refurbished one which has similar issues. All I wanted to do was listen to my music. Was that too much to ask? So I am happy to be free of this problematic device. No more Apple for me!!

  • Bought album and it downloaded in iTunes but it only plays partial of first song and then skips to next song in album, help?

Well I bought the Bring Me The Horizon album There Is A **** Believe Me I've Seen It, There Is A Heaven Let's Keep It A Secret on my iPhone and it synced to iTunes on my laptop. The entire album was downloading however when the first song was starting download it displayed an error message and I quickly pressed okay and disregarded it. The rest of the album resumed download and completed. I then went up to the download button next to the search input in the upper right hand corner and finished download for the rest of the song. When I went to listen to the album I was in a minute into the first song, "Crucify Me," and it skipped to the second song in the album, "It Never Ends." I tried playing it over and opening and re-opening iTunes but it still persists to skip the first song a minute in... so it appears to be a partial download. I mean, I have the album downloaded on my iPhone (this was the original site of purchase and download) but currently I am not in a state to do anything with that because my USB cable broke so my phone's been dead for the past few days and I'm waiting until tomorrow to get one with my father, I'm just a 14 year old girl afterall. I need a quick fix for this error and soon, preferably one without needing my iPhone because I want to listen to this album tonight and make sure it's all in order (and so I know what to do for future reference in case this happens again.) Please let me know your suggestions on resolving this issue. - Taylor
P.S. I've inserted a picture of what my iTunes looks like just in case it might help, which I doubt, but it might. Also please don't judge the Blood On The Dance Floor albums... I went through a phase that involved **** music.

  • Always skips first song in album

My iPod touch 4G always skips the first song on an album...software bug? Fixable?

Me too not on all albums but it happens to a few, I also get songs that skip midway and glitch, these songs are either off CD or itunes and they all seem to play fine on my laptop in itunes, windows media and media go, as well as on my phone... my phone is 2 years old and it can play music better than a brand new 64gb 4g Ipod Touch. I'm not a happy bunny

  • Burn a Cd and the first song skips for a minute, but then the rest of the Cd is fine.

I use Memorex CD-R.. I haven't had this problem up until a couple weeks ago. I just burned 3 cds in a row and all of them had the first song skip... Any help would be great! Thank You!

    Jennann,
First of all, it is better to use CD-Rs than CD-RWs, as the latter often give problems when used for audio CDs.
The problem you describe -- bad audio on the later tracks of an audio CD -- can almost always be corrected by doing the burn at a much lower burn speed. Use 2x.
The burn speed is selected in the dialog box that comes up when you request the burn.  It defaults to "Maximum Possible," but there is a dropdown to select a lower value.

  • First song skips - any ideas

The first song in the albums / playlists on my mini always skips.
After a few seconds it starts playing the second song - though if I click back to the first song it then plays fine.
It happens on all albums, but only the first song.
The mp3 files are all from legitimate CDs or iTunes downloads.
It makes no difference how much charge there is in the battery.
I have tried re-setting the iPod and then restored it.
Updating the iPod with the latest software makes no difference.
It makes no difference if there are lyrics or artwork attached to the songs.
I fear it is a fault with certain iPods and the only answer is a replacement unit.
    Any ideas?
    Cheers.

I can't think of a hardware reason for that to happen, but it's odd that it does it with both. You might try going to Microsoft or Apple iTunes support to see if they can help.

  • Importing problem - first song skips

Wonder if anyone has had this problem and, if so, how they fixed it. I've the most up-to-date version of iTunes. This happens with all the cds I import - the first song, 5 seconds into it, has a skip/momentary pause. Again, it is only the happening on the first song - everything else imports just fine. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the software but it still does it. This didn't happen in the older versions of the software I had. If anyone can help, I'd be most appreciative.

  • Import CD only importing about 1:30 of the first song of the album and skipping the rest...

Import CD is only importing about 1:30 of the first song of all of my albums, and then none of the others - though it says they've been ripped (with the little green symbol next to the track name), the track time says "not available" in my library. I've tried to import over a dozen CDs, all the same. Any ideas? I've installed, un- and re- installed Itunes a bunch of times, tried older versions...

  • Bug: Won't play first song on an album

So, I'm wonder if this is a bug, or if it's my phone: if I want to play an album on my CDMA iPhone 4, it skips the first song every time. Is there a fix for this problem? I realize there's a workaround: I could create a playlist for every album, but that's inconvenient.
    Has anyone else experienced this?

Hi and welcome to Apple Discussions JV,
Some other iPhone owners are discussing the same thing here -> http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2663589
Some of them believe the skips are related to scrubbing podcasts. There are a few workarounds suggested too, like restarting the iPhone.

  • I downloaded the latest version of iTunes and now ALL of my songs sounf d like skipping records.  How do I get rid of this or completely remove the new version that I downloaded???

I booted up my computer and opened up my usual shortcuts.  I got a message from iTunes that a new version was available and would I like to download it.  I clicked on "yes".  It took over 1/2 hour to download and now ALL of my songs sound like a skipping record or like they are tripping over themselves.  I uninstalled the ITunes and tried reinstalling my old version.  I've tried EVERYTHING I could think of to get my old version back but everytime I go through the download process I get a message saying that - the file "iTunes Library.itl "cannot be read because it was created by a newer version of iTunes.  I was finally able to download a version that will open but it has the same "skipping" problem.  How do I stop/fix this or COMPLETELY get rid of this version of iTunes and re-download what I had???  I'm REALLY distressed.      Jim

Usually, the exclamation mark tells you that the song was not where the program expected to find it. It may also mean that there was an error with the file itself.
If you click on the exclamation mark, it may give you a reason. You can also double click the file to make it play. If the file is not found, it will tell you. Just follow the prompts to look for the song again. It will ask you if you want to look for the other missing songs in the same folder. You can do it, but unfortunately, the last few updates have made the program blind to the songs that are there and you sometimes have to do the same process for each song.
If neither of these help, I would suggest starting from scratch and reinstalling iTunes. I have had to do that before. Do your best to back up the library and such first.
Sometimes a computer will rename a hard disk (Windows) and all the songs on that disk will be gone to iTunes because it will think it's looking in the right place. It can't recognize that the hard disk or partition has been renamed.
I know that this is a podcast, but the principle is the same. A dialogue box should pop up to tell you just what the problem is.
       I hope this helps!

  • My Media Browser in Garageband doesn't display anything except the very first song I have in this mac.

I have been always wanting to edit some songs and make a remix of it. However, the media browser in garageband in my macbook pro doesn't display any songs, except the very first song I added to my laptop. I have tried to do every suggestion from other forums (e.g. check the itunes library, etc) and none worked. One thing I realised is that I can still drag and drop the song directly from Finder to my Garageband timeline. Nevertheless, it annoys me whenever I open the media browser since this is not what my mac should do. I would be very grateful if someone could assist me with this matter.

Have you checked, if the search field at the bottom of the Media Browser is cleared? It should be set to "All", if you click the looking glass. Otherwise the list will be filtered.
And the drop-down menu should show "iTunes", if you want to see all songs.
If these simple measures do not help, try the fix for "oddball" problems and remove the User Preferences - see the FAQ:

  • IOS 4.2.1, first song will not repeat

Every since I updated to 4.2.1, the first song does not repeat even though it is fixed to repeat itself. When it is done playing, it goes to the next song and this is where the Repeat setting works or any song after that.
It happens whenever I reconnect either the earphone or the car's audio jack.
Has anyone had any experience on this: first song does not repeat?
    Thanks.

I'm also experiencing this problem, even if it's the only song on your playlist, it'll just stop after one play even though it's on repeat
Don't remember experiencing this in other iOS versions.
Neither have I. I think there is an issue with the phone's Playlist and playback controls in general since 4.2.1.
