First time BB owner

I am having trouble setting up my e-mail account use MSN Explorer with Outlook e-mail.I talked to the people at T-MOBIL and they are saying it can not be done.I have seen that some of you are doing it with no problems. Can someone tell me what to do?2nd question what does the pin number refer to?

you should be able to do it with no difficulty at all, you can set up the email address from you phone or log onto the BIS site, if using the phone, go to email setup and it will ask you to either setup a bb account or log on, if you already have the account then log on, if not then create it.  you can then add the email address and start recieving emails within 20 minutes

  • First Time Mac Owner  (Advice/Upgrade Options)

    Hey guys,
I am a first time Mac owner, and I am very excited about ridding my self of MS and all their bloatware. I ordered the MBP 15" base model early last week, and I have a few questions about upgrades. Being the base model, it has the 250gb 5,400rpm hard drive and only 2gb of ram. I would like to upgrade to 4gb of ram and a 7,200 rpm hard drive (links posted below). As my money unfortunately doesn't grow on tree's, I will likely have to update one, then the other at a later date. I bring this up, as I have considered waiting on a cheaper SSD's.
*I guess my question, is where will I see the biggest performance improvement?*
I think I am a fairly typical user, though I like to get the most I can out of a system. I teach at a local university, and a big part of my time with the system will be creating lesson plans, presentations, and spreadsheets. I will also do some basic photo and video editing, starting with the programs supplied in iLife. In my free time I hope to enjoy some basic gaming, mostly RTS games and WoW.
I know this post is getting too long, but in addition to which hardware upgrade would give me the most bang for the buck, *what does everyone think about iWork?* As summer is and all of my grading is completed, I think I will have the time to learn a new program along with the new operating system.
    Thanks for your thoughts,
    Troy

Do the RAM first. A 250GB hard drive is a lot of storage for the stuff you do. You sound more likely to need more memory for more programs running at the same time, and that means RAM.
what does everyone think about iWork?
If you are not a Microsoft Office power user, then iWork can be pretty great, actually. If you use the obscure features of Word and Excel, iWork will seem underpowered.

  • First time Blackberry owner.

Me and my fience just bought the 8330 from sprint. First time for both of us owning a BB. Figured this would be the best place to learn trick for the BB or getting questions answered. The only really question I have is what gig card will the BB support? I would really like to get a 16 gig card but I have heard mixed things some have told me that it will work and others said that it has not been tested.

thanks started looking around on here and found out that my phone will support a 16 gig.

  • First time DSLR owner...help!

I'm planning on buying my first DSLR around the holidays, and I have no idea what to look for in a camera, as I am brand-new to the DSLR scene.
I'm looking for something that I can grow into as I learn more about photography, etc, and preferably be under $750. I am really looking for the best value for the money, and something that takes sharp and detailed pictures of everything...sports, nature, city scenes, family events...
If someone could also give me a brief crash-course in all the terms and things related with these cameras, it would be very much appreciated
The three cameras that I've looked at: (Can someone highlight the main differences between the three for me? Much appreciated!
    Canon Rebel T1i-  (http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Canon+-+EOS+Digital+Rebel+T1i+15.1-Megapixel+Digital+SLR+Camera+-+Black/...)

    Nikon D3100- (http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Nikon+-+D3100+14.2-Megapixel+Digital+SLR+Camera+-+Black/1222817.p?id=121...)
    Thank you for your time!

    Hi oliviaaa06,
Thanks for reaching out to us on this! I remember when I
purchased my first SLR, and I can understand that this can be an intimidating
prospect. With Canon or Nikon DSLRs you really can’t go wrong no matter what
model you end up getting, but I can say that I personally feel like Nikon has
the slight upper-hand when it comes to entry level DSLRs.
All three of the models you have listed are very close in
specifications and build quality, and the lens lineup for both Canon and Nikon
are very comprehensive. The Canon T1i and the Nikon D3100 are the pure entry
level DSLRs for Canon and Nikon, while the Nikon D5000 is one step above the
entry level camera that was available from Nikon when it was released (the
    Nikon D3000).
If the video capability is important to you I feel like
the T1i and the D3100 have the advantage over the D5000. The T1i has a much
higher resolution LCD that the two Nikon models. The D5000 will have a slightly
    better build quality.
The Canon T1i takes the highest resolution images, the
D3100 produces slightly lower resolution, and the D5000 captures the lowest
resolution images out of these three models. With that said when it comes to
the number of pixels a DSLR is capable of more is not always better. The more
pixels you squeeze into a specific sensor area the harder it is to produce a
camera that does well in low-light situations. The D5000 has the advantage if
low-light photography is something you feel like your new DSLR will be used
    for.
As far as giving you a crash course in  the terms related to DSLR cameras I could do
that here, but I have already done this in my thread “Digital Camera tips part
2” that is floated to the top of this board. I would suggest reading through
all the threads floated at the top of this board to get a better understanding
of DSLRs (and photography in general).
    I hope this helps!

  • First time IPOD owner and do not understand "itunes media"(question inside)

    Hello,
Just moved from Zune to the IPod, and I have a 120GB Ipod, I have about 12,000 songs I want to transfer and everyitme I try and transfer I get this message "There is not enough space on itunes media, you need an additional 28GB to copy these files" What does that mean??? I even tried half the songs and got this message. THis is really fustrating, can someone please help! Just want my songs on my ipod, nothing fancy. Thank you.

First of all, there is no upper limit on the amount of space, or number of songs you can have "in iTunes".
I'm curious though about the message Ther is not enough space on itunes media, because the music is not on or even "in" iTunes, so I don't really understand why it states "on Tunes".
If you let iTunes place the music (the media) where it wants, it's in the iTunes Media folder or in the iTunes/iTunes Music folder. What iTunes (the programme) does is index, or catalogue the music, remembering where the music is actually stored.
So a message saying that there isn't enough storage space has to be referring to the hard drive where that folder is located. Where is that? Is it on the computer, or an extrenal hard drive? Is the drive full or nearly full?

  • First time IPOD owner

Hi all. I am sure that my problems are pretty basic, but there is just so much good information on this website that I could not do a proper search for 'my problem', so please bear with me.
After owning a (surprisingly) decent knockoff (hey, have a limited budget), one of my friends gifted me with her IPOD 2nd gen, 4GB (she upgraded to one of your fancier models).
I am having a bit of a problem learning how to use this. She removed all her information (pics, contacts, etc) except for songs. In the interim, I downloaded iTunes 7, and the setup already brought over all my mp3 music files into the Library.
BUT, when I attach the IPOD to the computer, it does not show up on the Library. It will show the Device, just not the songs. In theory, should I be able to access the songs on the player, and be able to delete any from the player as well as add on music already on my computer? I would say that I would like to delete close to 85% of the music already on the Ipod, and therefore just need to know - for starters - how to delete what is on the player and how to add songs that are in the Library.
Any sympathetic help for this techno-newbie would be incredibly appreciated.

I also forgot to add that I am aware that some, if not all the songs on the IPod at this time may have been purchased from the ITunes site. I have no problem with this, as I plan to start my own playlists from ITunes. I just want to know how to at least add and delete songs that are already on the player as well as my computer.

  • First time ipod owner need help getting started

Hello my name is Jes, im trying to create my apple id but do not have a debit or credit card do i have to in order to create an account ? second how do i update the software of the ipod, it currently has 3.1 and does not allow me to make changes. on itunes it says "this is the most current software"

If you don't have a credit card (I don't think that debit cards are still accepted) then if you follow the instructions on this page when creating an account (the instructions won't work with existing accounts) then you should get a 'none' option on the payment details screen : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2534
e.g. log out of your account if you're currently logged into it, find a free app in the store and click on its free price, and the click on 'create Apple id' on the popup - agree to the terms, fill in your details, and you should get 'none' on the payments screen.
Do you know which generation of the iPod Touch it is ? The first gen only supports up to iOS 3.1.3

Hi.. Welcome to the Palm fourms.  Check your Vista version, most likely you'll find it is a 64bit version for which there are no drivers available.  The only way to sync is via bluetooth.  Go to the windows hotsync forum and you will find instructions how to sync via bluetooth.

  • First Time Router User Questions

This is my very first time owning and using a router, so I have a few questions I'd like to ask.
    1. Can my router be plugged (with the lights flashing) at all times, or does it have to be un-plugged when not in use?  (For fear of it overheating).
    2. If I stay connected to a wireless port from my router at all times (on any given computer), does it eat up my bandwidth even if I am not surfing the internet?
Thank you if you reply to these somewhat silly questions. XD

For a first time router owner your questions are perfectly normal. You dont have to turn off anything and the post about security is good advice. If your primary concern is bandwidth then you don' t want all your neighbors eating it up. As far as your LAN or Local Area Network you can leave that on as well with no bandwith issues. (Though with wireless you make run into some connectivity issues) Try not to confuse LAN with WAN. LAN = your network, WAN is you ISP a.k.a your bandwidth. Finally your WEP key (which is what I'm assuming you have to enter every time you disconnect) you can just leave that in and don't click on "disconnect" or you will be entering it everytime

A long shot but you might try using the phone to send an email to the phone asking the owner to call their mobile phone.  If the owner has a computer they may get the email and get in contact with you.
But Roger's suggerstion of turning it over to the police is the best bet.
