First-Time Install

If I want to install the NW04 version of the portal, what files do I need to download? Do I need to install a pre-NetWeaver version first, then upgrade?
Thanks

Hi Eric,
My suggestion is that you start with the SR1 release of NW04.  You will find it in the service marketplace.  (http://service.sap.com/swdc)
You will have to install the Web AS first and then add the portal (and KMC if you are using it).  no need for any other previous versions.  After the SR1 install, there is an upgrade to SP 11 you can do after that.
Hope that helps,
John

  • First-Time install (htmldb 1.6)

    Hello,
I'm planning on installing htmldb (v1.6) for the first time on my workstation for testing. I've already got Oracle 10g installed (windows xp, 32bit).
I downloaded the roughly 47mb htmldb 1.6.zip program file, as well as the zipped set of documentation. In reading through the installation guide, the installation procedure basically boils down to running the install script, and then doing some post-install config.
However, in reading other docs on htmldb, such as the installation faq, they seem to reference installing htmldb through the Oracle 10g companion cd. But the installation document that I downloaded with the 1.6 program and the 1.6 documentation set makes no mention of the companion cd.
Is using the companion cd required, or was that the old method of doing the install, and if I am doing a first-time install of the product then I should ignore the companion cd and just follow the installation doc by running the installation script directly in my database?
    Thanks, Scot.

    Scott,
You can just run the install script as you suggest in your second paragraph.
The Companion CD has a couple of other programs on it and I believe it uses the OUI to get the info required then runs the install script for you.
I believe the 1.6 zip file was put up on its own because demand for the new version was so high and it would have been unnecessary to generate a complete new Companion CD just for 1.6.
    Good luck.
    Greg

  • Perform a first time install again???

i recently bought a Nokia E63... and set it all up and did the first time install. I found out the charger didn't work so i formatted the E63 and i was going to return the phone. Turns out they just gave me a new charger.
i lost a few applications that came with the phone during the first time use/install period when i first turned on the phone... applications such as games and i cant remember what else. Is there anyway i can get all my applications back and do another first time install?

Most of application u can get back from OVI store.
but you wont be getting the Advance call manager full version now.
You have to purchase now as it is available for trial just only for 15 calls.
    Applications came with E63:
    Advance call manager
    Ovi chat
    Top hit solitare

Please help, I am at a standstill!!! and can't go any further on the Web Tools Installation.

ASPNET is a local Windows user and when IIS executes .Net pages and has to access  website files it authenticates to the system as that user. For instance, when you save changes to a theme, such as associating a catalog, you are writing to the files in the /assets/* directory and are doing so as the ASPNET Windows user. This user then needs to have write access to the /assets/* directories for the website to not throw an access denied error.
In IIS if you look at the application pool settings on the identity tab, you will see an option to choose which local user or group will be this designated "IIS user". Typically this is the local group "Network Service"  which contains the local user ASPNET.
In the case of the Installer, it is attempting to give the correct permissions to the file directory that contains your website to the ASPNET user. Verify on that server if this user exists by looking at the computer management mmc snap-in then expanding Local Users and Groups and opening the Users folder.

  • First time install probs with sata raid drive using k7n2g ilsr

    hi all!!!
this is the first time i have tried 2 use a sata raid hdd.  i dont use a raid drive for my c:, the raid drive is just extra space.
first i formated my pc.  i installed the raid drivers, then xp.  my pc worked fine.  but then after a week it was time 2 try plug the drive in.

  • FireFox will not work from a first time install

    Question
Loaded firefox for the first time, installation complete, icon on desktop, program tries to open when clicked as the hourglass icon is visible for a moment, then nothing happens. I watch the process tree, firefox is visible for a moment then disappears, followed by drwtsn32 momentarily.

I called the state's technical support and was informed:
    1) That it is a hit or miss possibility for Safari and Firefox to work properly with this site; and,
    2) That the site is optimized to operate with Internet Explorer for Windows.
There is your answer. Many US Government sites are the same - they simply WILL NOT follow the necessary web standards to make them Apple and/or Safari compliant.
The only thing you can try is to go to Safari's Develop Menu and try using Internet Explorer as the User Agent.

  • First Time install of Desktop Mac and Entourage Tasks are not deleting

Right, this is the fist time I haev installed Blackberry Desktop for Mac and I have a Bold 9700.
    I run Entourage 2008 12.2.6
From previous experiences way back when it was first launched, I learned the hard way so I am treading carefully again. Also, I have just ditched Pocketmac too!
Anyway, I have entourage tasks. If I delete a task from the blackberry its fine, it just dissapears from the mac BUT if I elete from the Mac, its still on the blackberry.  what am I doing wrong?

  • Pacman issues for first time install

I cant install anything using pacman every time I get the error
error: failed to commit transaction (wrong or NULL argument passed)
errors occurred, no packages were upgraded
I have tried deleting the cache and re syncing it doesn’t work.
Tried the create fastest mirror script which seemed to help then suddenly this.
    Not sure what do?
Any help would be great. I will provide any information required. Really want to try arch out but this has pretty much halted proceedings.
    Thanks

Also i put my proxy details into wgetrc and then changed my pacman.conf to use XferCommand wget
I can see that the proxy is giving a [302 Moved Temporarily] for a few of the db's
The proxy is blocking some of the sites. Im going to change mirrors and see what it says then.
EDIT: Update i did the change of mirro and its downloading but now im back to my orginal problem of
Operation too slow Less than 1024 bytes/sec transferred the last 10 seconds
The base.db finishes fine but the rest will not download successfully. It downloads up until a certain point then just stops. The extra.db reaches 63% and community.db reaches 73% but they both get stuck there and give the error
    Any thoughts?

  • First Time Install Question...

So, I'm using Fusion to run Vista, but I find it's a bit slow, and I'd like to use BootCamp. If I run the BootCamp agent, will it format the OS X partition, or will it remain intact?
    Thanks!

I installed VM Fusion on my mini. I only have an 80 GB HD, + 2 GB Ram. I initially made a 15 GB Boot Camp partition. I am using that for my Fusion to run XP. But it is only allocating 512 MG of my 2 GB Ram for Windows. It runs REAL SLOW, much slower than my XP on just Boot Camp. IS there a way of increasing how much RAM is allocated for Windows? How much faster would it run if I had a new iMac?

  • Simple easy first time install

ATV160 arrived yesterday. Install was simple and easy. It detected TV, "n" network running from TC, downloaded and installed updates without a hitch. I was streaming iTunes content within 45 minutes of unpacking, maybe less. Synched music and video overnight by wifi. Very pleased so far and just have to select photos now.
No problems as mentioned on forums so far, menus, artwork and all else seem to work well.

    Scott,
You can just run the install script as you suggest in your second paragraph.
The Companion CD has a couple of other programs on it and I believe it uses the OUI to get the info required then runs the install script for you.
I believe the 1.6 zip file was put up on its own because demand for the new version was so high and it would have been unnecessary to generate a complete new Companion CD just for 1.6.
    Good luck.

  • First time install of blade 100

I have just purchased a blade 100 and booted using the automatic install. As soon as it attempts to start the cde, the screen goes blank and the machine freezes. i try to do stop-a, sync, sync, power-off, but there is no response. Is it something to do with the resolution of the monitor and the cde resolution mismatch? I have a 19 inch super vga proview pk-986.
Anyone else come across this,? is my machine video card faulty?
Has anyone tried to install a second third-party drive in the second ide channel?. I was thinking of installing a 7200rpm ata 40gb drive.
    Thanx in advance

  • Installing GroupWise 2012 for the first time

    Hello,
I am looking for some help on installing GroupWise 2012 for the first time, and onto a brand new Windows 2008 Server. I have looked at some of the documentation for this, but I do not fully understand what I need to do. For example, I need to have eDirectory installed so I installed eDirectory on the Windows sever. I don't know what settings I need to use for eDirectory or if I even need a Netware server, too. I would appreciate it if someone could walk me through this step by step and provide me with values for a basic system I would appreciate it. My first goal is to learn how to install GroupWise 2012 on a Windows 2008 server. Once I understand this, then I can redo it and go from there.
    Thank you for your help.
    John

    Hi John,
Let me see if I can be of some sort of assistance.... you don't need a NetWare server - besides they are obsolete.
I created the following set of instructions for somebody doing a first time install on Linux - perhaps just read around it and see if it works for you in a windows environment:
"on the server run the GroupWise install: ./install from the directory where you have the software
select "Create or Update a GroupWise System"
    accept the license agreement
create the software distribution directory (default should be fine)
From the Select Software dialog select the Select All button
when the copying is complet select Creating a new GroupWise System
    to start ConsoleOne select Run
when prompted with the Linux Mount Directory select OK
when prompted, take note of the steps yout ake to create a new system, then select OK
login to consoleone with your admin credentials
in the left pane select GroupWise System the select Tools | GroupWise Utilities | New System
    select next
confirm that your tree is correct
select Extend eDirectory Schema check box and then select next
When prompted for a system name enter something simple like GWise
When prompted for a primary domain name enter a domain like gwdom1 (I'm keeping it generic in this scenario)
when prompted for a domain directory enter a path ie /opt/novell/groupwise/dbs/gwdom1
    select next
Next to the domain context fields select the browse icon
browse to and select the container that will hold the domain (you might want to create an organisational unit called groupwise in your tree for this purpose)
next slect your language and time zone
when prompted for a post office name enter a poa name like gwpoa1 (again, generic in this example)
when prompted for a post office directory enter a path eg /opt/novell/groupwise/dbs/gwpoa1
the context for the post office is assumed to be the same as the domain
select the language and time zone for the post office
in the post office link dialog confirm that tcp/ip is selected
enter your ip address of your server
leave the ports at default - don't mess with these unless you know what you are doing!
in the IP address of the MTA (that would be your domain) enter the IP of your server
    leave the ports at default
browse and add existing edirectory users to your GroupWise system
to create the GroupWise system select next
view the installation summary then select next
the final step is to install the agent software - select next
from the GroupWise agents configuration dialog select next
confirm that the check box for Launch GroupWise AGents on system startup is selected then select exit
    exit the GroupWise installation program
from the terminal winodws enter rcgrpwise start to load the groupwise agents"
    Good luck
    Cheers,

  • Installed Firefox 3.6.8 for the first time and it keeps crashing

I just installed Firefox for the first time and when it is finished installing I tell it to start. It tries and as soon as it does I get a crash report. Every time I click Restrt Firefox it comes up with the same crash error, which is the following:

This report also contains technical information about the state of the application when it crashed.
I am running this on a Duo Core processor, Intel, Laptop, Windows 7 with 4-gigs of ram. I have never had a problem with other programs crashing like this before.
Any ideas? I have never used Firefox and after 20 years have decided to try something new.
    Thanks for any help.

You mean out of this whole community no one knows how to fix this ... I wanted to give Firefox a try, but honestly, I am starting to see why I have not switched from IE, it is stable and I get answers when I post to the Microsoft boards as well as the answer to everything I have ever had an issue with is out there ... what is worse is that I am not the only one with this problem and no one can still help because I am sure us five are not the only ones that have run into this.
