First time mac owner and loving it!!!!
i just bought the new imac aluminum 2.66mhz core 2 duo.. this is my first apple product and im loving it so far...it took me a bit to get used to since coming from pc but the learning is probly the best part...i dont think ill ever buy another pc after this...i also never buy protection plans because i never keep anything long enough to justify the cost but i just bought it online today since i plan i keeping this a long time...im very glad i bought this system even tho i couldnt afford it...lol...just wanted to share the joy im having with this...thanks for reading.

First Time Mac Owner (Advice/Upgrade Options)
Hey guys,
I am a first time Mac owner, and I am very excited about ridding my self of MS and all their bloatware. I ordered the MBP 15" base model early last week, and I have a few questions about upgrades. Being the base model, it has the 250gb 5,400rpm hard drive and only 2gb of ram. I would like to upgrade to 4gb of ram and a 7,200 rpm hard drive (links posted below). As my money unfortunately doesn't grow on tree's, I will likely have to update one, then the other at a later date. I bring this up, as I have considered waiting on a cheaper SSD's.
*I guess my question, is where will I see the biggest performance improvement?*
I think I am a fairly typical user, though I like to get the most I can out of a system. I teach at a local university, and a big part of my time with the system will be creating lesson plans, presentations, and spreadsheets. I will also do some basic photo and video editing, starting with the programs supplied in iLife. In my free time I hope to enjoy some basic gaming, mostly RTS games and WoW.
I know this post is getting too long, but in addition to which hardware upgrade would give me the most bang for the buck, *what does everyone think about iWork?* As summer is and all of my grading is completed, I think I will have the time to learn a new program along with the new operating system.

Do the RAM first. A 250GB hard drive is a lot of storage for the stuff you do. You sound more likely to need more memory for more programs running at the same time, and that means RAM.
what does everyone think about iWork?
If you are not a Microsoft Office power user, then iWork can be pretty great, actually. If you use the obscure features of Word and Excel, iWork will seem underpowered. -
Started up our new iMac as a first time Mac owner. Migrated itunes from my PC, via Migration Assistant. Can not find the files, any idea where they may be?

Hope you can help me on this.
I recently got a new MBA 13" as my first ever mac and was quite happy with it until I updated to 10.7.1 and installed the thunderbolt/EFI updates.
And now I've got quite a lot of problems with the UI.
1)Icon magnification in the dock is sluggish
2)The animations in mission control is also sluggish
3)The app store is even worse than the other 2
I google'd and found few suggestions such as reseting SMC/setting the scrollbars to "Show always"/Reseting RAM but none helped
After using iPhone and iPad,I was expecting the same experience with MBA but...
So any suggestion guys ? Do you think is a software problem ? If it its,then I really hope 10.7.2 fixes it

First time IPOD owner and do not understand "itunes media"(question inside)

Just moved from Zune to the IPod, and I have a 120GB Ipod, I have about 12,000 songs I want to transfer and everyitme I try and transfer I get this message "There is not enough space on itunes media, you need an additional 28GB to copy these files" What does that mean??? I even tried half the songs and got this message. THis is really fustrating, can someone please help! Just want my songs on my ipod, nothing fancy. Thank you.First of all, there is no upper limit on the amount of space, or number of songs you can have "in iTunes".
I'm curious though about the message Ther is not enough space on itunes media, because the music is not on or even "in" iTunes, so I don't really understand why it states "on Tunes".
If you let iTunes place the music (the media) where it wants, it's in the iTunes Media folder or in the iTunes/iTunes Music folder. What iTunes (the programme) does is index, or catalogue the music, remembering where the music is actually stored.
So a message saying that there isn't enough storage space has to be referring to the hard drive where that folder is located. Where is that? Is it on the computer, or an extrenal hard drive? Is the drive full or nearly full? -
First time Mac user and in need of background help!!!
OK so I just got my computer a few days ago, and now it is not letting me change my background picture, the main screen picture. I looked in help and it says that the driver is no longer installed, and 2 Param error... I have no idea what I did but if someone could help me on what to do, I have tried looking on the install discs that came with the computer but I can't find anything, can anyone help me??? please
Did you delete some files in the last 2 days? Maybe something from the Library or System folder? You can always do an erase and install from the Install DVD.

I have just opened my brand new Macbook Pro and I'm a first time mac user. I have tried to download flash to enable me to watch youtube clips, but on trying to download it, it says I need to close Safari but after doing so, it still won't respond. Any tips? Help?
Actually you need to quit Safari which is different from closing. With Safari open go the menu bar for Safari/Quit Safari.

However I only have one account. I've tried to sign out and in several times. But it doesn't work. I do remember changing my password recently. Secondly I'd like to add that I got this macbook air 3 days ago. I'm a first time mac user. It had three updates initially. Mountain lion 10.8.2, iphoto and the imovie. First time Mac buyer, 2.93GHz or 3.06GHz??
So I’m a first time Mac buyer, well soon will be and my question is this. Will I notice that much of a difference between the 2.93GHz NVIDIA GeForce GT 120 256MB and 3.06GHz NVIDIA GeForce GT 130 512MB configurations? I went to my local Apple store but they didn’t have both models on display, just the 2.93 one, which I really loved. I don’t plan on doing any major video editing, heck I don’t even currently own a camcorder but in the future I’d like to get one and do my own home videos. But for the time being all I use my current computer for is music, photos, web browsing, etc. On my current computer despite having Photoshop I almost never use it because of how slow it is, so that is probably the closest thing to any type of editing I do. I also watch a lot of video on my current one as well, like the HD trailers on apple.com and YouTube a lot. The current computer I have can’t handle 1080p at all but is ok with 720p, but I’ve seen that even the 2.93 iMac handles it perfectly. I guess my main concern is that I don’t want to go with the 2.93 iMac and then in a few months time feel like I made the wrong choice, but I also don’t really feel that I “need” all the power that comes with the 3.06 GHz model either. Any suggestions?

You are incorrect. Preparing a video for DVD has nothing to do with graphics. Compressor MPEG Encode: 1:25 vs 1:27
iMovie HD Aged Effect: 37 seconds vs 38 seconds
Quake 4 Frame Rate: 85.6 frames per second vs 81.7 frames per second
Call of Duty 4 Frame Rate: 73.7 frames per second vs 66.4 frames per second (the winner of that test was the iMac (2008) 2.8 GHz model at 78.3 frames per second with the ATI 2600 HD graphics
So most of the tests have a difference of 2 seconds. Even the graphics frame rates were less than a 10 frame per second difference, and one test was outdone by last year's iMac 24". So you are better off saving the money because a 2 second difference isn't worth it or even noticable. -

If you are using an HDMI connection, go to Apple / System Preferences / Sound and see if you can select the Built-In Speakers?
If you have headphones, buds or something plugged into the Audio Output jack, unplug it.
If not then perhaps the micro switch inside the Audio Output jack is stuck? In that case, try plugging and unplugging some headphones, buds or something in and out a few times to see if it will un-stick.
If it will not un-stick, then you will need to make an appointment for service.

My Iphone 4 just updated to the iOS6. I've connected it to my computer for the first time since then, and wanted to back up my photos in iPhoto. However, although Iphoto recognized my phone, it shows no photos to upload or backup. It lists my phone in the "devices" category on the left bar, but no longer shows any of my photos.
