First time SSD install in T61p - system hangs or is very slow

After I decided to finally leave XP behind and move onto Windows 7 I also decided unadvisedly perhaps to buy my first solid state drive, a 120GB Intel 520 for no other reason than it suit my budget.
Well installed Windows 7 and it seems as if the system locks up everything I touch or click something. Extracting a large archive from my NAS tp my desktop, drivers for example, take forever
Why?
I thought upgrading to a solid state drive was plug and play..
Is there something which has to be done prior to installing Windows 7, after, any drivers? What?
PS I have the latest official BIOS but see there is some unofficial BIOS which allows SATA II but I think my problem has nothing to do with this.
If this unofficial BIOS does have something to do with my problem or even if it doesn't, if you know it, what is the Control Fn Swap option?

Intel Rapid Storage Technology (RST) is the culprit, specifically LPM (Link Power Management) and DIPM (Device Initiated Power Management). Both are recommended to be enabled as they lower power consumption on SATA devices that support it, but in certain circumstances they may cause freezing, stuttering and other undesirable performance degradation.
Although the SDD is still at the store and they have agreed to a refund, I ran the registry file to turn off LPM and DIPM. All that did was seem to cause the very problems with my regular HDD as the registry are meant to prevent.
So now I am really reluctant to put a refund at risk by asking to have another go at it, but after this experience, I don't either know which SDD to try next with my T61p
Can you or anyone make any sure fire recommendations?

Apparently you have included this support package in the upgrade. But have you installed or upgrade the component PI_BASIS to 2005_1_640 during the IS_SELECT phase? This is required for support package SAPKIPYJ63.

if you hid the menu bar and the navigation bar simply press the alt button, this will bring back the menu bar and form there you can right click and select which bars you want shown

Once I wrote my password, and for now on, everytime I start the session, another window advise me that "Java SE 6" is missing, due that, the computer can't run some "CS5Service Manager". If I try to install it, the download ends with an error. If finally, you skip the istallation, you arrive to the dock, but the menu bar at the top of the screen doesn't show up.
In addition, my trackpad doesn't works either. I can move the arrow but i can't click anywhere, probably because the option of clicking by touching is disabeled and I can't performance a regular click.
I'll be very glad if someone know what the heck is happening with my computer. Anyway, I'm going to the genius bar next Saturday. Thx!

Please answer as many of the following questions as you can. You may already have answered some of them. In that case, there's no need to repeat the answers.
Have you restarted your router and your broadband device (if they're separate) since you first noticed the problem? If the answer is no, do that now and see whether there's any change.
Are any other web browsers installed, and are they the same?
What about other Internet applications, such as iTunes and the App Store?
Are there any other devices on the same network that can browse the Web, and are they affected?
If you can test Safari on another network, is it the same there?
If you connect to your router with Wi-Fi and you can also connect with Ethernet, do that and turn off Wi-Fi. Any difference?

Installing Solaris 7 - System hangs while determining bus Types

I am trying to install Solaris 7 on my Compaq Presario. My system hangs immediately after the first screen. It hangs on the screen where it says "Bus Enumeration Determining Bus Type and gathering hardware configuration data. Not sure why it is doing that. Any help would be appreciated

First time Solaris Install -3 problems

This is my first ever post/
I just installed Solaris 10 for the first time( well,I tried once before but ran into problems,so I gave up and installed Linux.This time I'm letteing it stay)
I installed it on an old PC :
AMD Duron 750 (awaiting a 1 Ghz Athlon cpu from Ebay)
256 mb ram
40 GB IDE hdd
I once I tried to install it on an old dual -p3 1Ghz rack mount server I got from ebay and not only wouldn't it install,but after that Lan A didn't work anymore....so I am reluctant to try installing it on my 2 AMD 64 pcs for fear of what might happen!
Anyway,here's my problems:
1) No network - Solaris didn't detect and set up my Realek 8139 ethernet card
2)No sound -AC97 sound chip
3) Stuck in 640x480! (Luckily I have a 17" monitor!)

First off, I'd like to connect it to my existing wireless network, but I have no clue how to accomplish that. It would be nice just to plop in an Airport card, but I don't know if that will do the trick.
That iMac has an internal slot for original AirPort card. You will also need the AirPort card adapter.
Secondly, when I insert a DVD it doesn't automatically play and I can't find any DVD software on the computer. I thought they came with a generic DVD player, but I just can't find it.
If that iMac has a DVD drive installed, the application "DVD Player" is installed when the OS is installed. You can see if it has a DVD drive by running System Profiler.

I am trying to run my registered CS6 Design Standard programs for the first time after install. InDesign runs OK, but Illustrator and Photoshop will only run in trail mode. How do I activate those two?

I can't get my registered versions of CS6 Photoshop and Illustrator to run in full mode. I installed CS6 Design Standard online end of June (an upgrade from CS5.5), on my old MacBook Pro. I didn't run the programs then as I was waiting on arrival of new MacBook Pro. I migrated the programs from my old MacBook to the new, and today tried to run those programs for the first time. InDesign work OK (after an initial hiccup) but Illustrator and Photoshop will only run in trial mode, and won't let me save files. My CS6 Design Standard shows with it's registration in my Adobe Account. All seems in order, but Illustrator and Photoshop won't run in registered mode. Can you please help?

Please use the uninstallers to remove your current installation. They are located in the Applications/Utilities/Adobe Installers folder. Once the uninstall is complete you will also want to run the CC Cleaner Tool. If this is really a NEW Macbook Pro and this happened the first time you turned it on and did Software Updated then you need to take it back to where you bought it and RETURN IT FOR A FULL REFUND. Then decide whether to buy another NEW unit or move on to something else.
Apple has a No Questions Asked 14 day return policy. Take advantage of that and return this unit. This type of thing should NOT happen on a Brand new notebook.

Installing Windows 2003 Server Standard/XP is very slow- how long does it take?

Hello, I'm looking for some ideas here... I tried installing Windows 2003 on my newly build computer, but after 3 hours it still wasn't installed, and seemed to just be really really slow, and not frozen. I ended up giving up and tried putting windows xp on it, but after an hour it still didn't finish installing. I figure there really has to be something wrong here... The only thing out of the ordinary is that I'm using 4GB ram DDR2 667. How long does it take to install windows xp on your system?!?

I upgraded to the latest bios, no luck... I haven't run any extensive memory tests, but through the tests i did, it seems that the memory is okay. Given these tests do you think it is more likely a problem with the motherboard running 4 slots? Or maybe some power issue, where the 4 sticks of memory are not getting enough power to work right.
The power supply I am using is Xfinity 500W

Completely uninstall the Kaspersky software AND MacKeeper. Both aren't necessary and can cause all kinds of issues.
Also check if Paragon and Virtualbox are up to date.

After first restart after installing Mavericks the system can't identify the internal MacBook Monitor anymore

I am writing this using an external monitor in the office from my MacBookPro 8,1 (April 2011). After installing the upgrade the monitor worked fine. After shutting down the system and restarting it the next day the apple sign was shown for some seconds, then - I assume this was the time when the operating system was was finished loading, the screen went black and stayed that way.I the attached screen shot one can see that only one external monitor is identified (sorry for the german language). Anyone has any idea what to do except downgrading using time-machine? this is what I am about to do. thanks for any help or ideas!

The auto-conversion to core storage is not a bug anymore than the automatic drive encryption during the Setup Assistant unless you pay close attention. Apple is giving you the push into the future of OS X.
Furthermore, Apple does not really support Linux, ESP, or rEFInd. Windows is only supported via Boot Camp on a drive that has only one extant partition - OS X. The consequence of this is that Apple will not test this other configurations for any compatibility with OS X. We may not like that but it is what it is.
I am quite familiar with configuring multi-boot volumes like yours, so please don't call me a fanboy because I don't see things all your way.
