First two iPhone 4's no service. Now have new phone. How to connect to iTunes without using old backup?
Got a new iPhone 4 in November after long time success with an iPhone 3G. It constantly showed no service & gave error message to restore with iTunes, which I did. It continued to not have service. I would reset network connection and it would work for a bit only to not be of use again. In January I brought it back to the apple store and they gave me a new phone. I took it home and synced it with iTunes. However the second phone started to do the same thing. I am on my 3rd iPhone 4. I am scared to sync it with iTunes and restore to backup for fear something in iTunes could be corrupting it. Does anyone have houghts on this?
If there is a problem with the backup, transferring the backup will also transfer the problem.
When connecting a new iPhone to iTunes on a computer used to sync with another iPhone, you are prompted to transfer the backup for the other iPhone to the new iPhone, or set up the new iPhone as a new iPhone or do not transfer the backup. Choose the latter.

One way is to Drag and Drop the Entire iTunes Folder from your Old Computer to an External Hard Drive...

I just got a new iPhone 4 and i tried to download some songs from my itunes account onto my phone and it bricked my phone! So I can't use my phone, it's locked. Ask the Verizon store to exchange your iPhone for a different iPhone 4.

I wouldn't use Home Sharing for this. These are two possible approaches that should work.
Method 1
Backup the library with this User Tip.
Restore the backup to your new computer using the same tool used to back it up.
Deauthorize the old computer if you no longer want to access protected content on it.
Keep your backup up-to-date in future.
Method 2
Connect the two computers to the same network. Share your <User's Music> folder from the old computer and copy the entire iTunes library folder into the <User's Music> folder on the new one. Again, deauthorize the old computer if no longer required.
Both methods should give the new computer a working clone of the library that was on the old one. As far as iTunes is concerned this is still the "home" library for your devices so you shouldn't have any issues with iTunes wanting to erase are reload.
I'd recommend method 1 since it establishes an ongoing backup for your library.

Once you have restored your new phone from the backup of your old phone and ensured that everything is working correctly, you should first turn off "find my phone" on the old phone and then erase it, before you get rid of it. -
Resetting Airport Extreme disabled my home network. Now when i attempt to get to internet with iPad, or iPhone, I see an Earthlink (ISP) window with message: The internet connection is currently in use by another computer (nun.nn.n.nn) Enter your DSL Account logon psassword to switch the internet connection to this computer. If I do that, other messages follow. I am usually able to switch connection, but can have only one device on internet at a time. Tried to correct problem using Airport Utility, but failed.
Unfortunately, there is mass confusion about whether a device might be a modem or a modem/router since the terms are mixed up all the time. Even though a device might have only one Ethernet port, it can still be a router.

It is not a modem.....it is a modem/router. If that is the case, then the AirPort Extreme is not the only router on your network....it is one of two routers, and it should be configured to operate in Bridge Mode.

My ipod stopped working a few years ago, it said i had to connect to itunes to restore, as i then got an iphone i never bothered to sort it, I am now trying to and hwne i connect to itunes it says it must be restored, After ive restored it nothing happens, at first it says "ipod has been restored and is restarting, it will appear in the itunes window once it has restarted" so i wait but nothing happens and eventually it comes up with the same message telling me the ipod needs to be restored?
Errors when updating leads to corrupt system files and this may be your problem. If you're using windows, connect your device to PC and run any third party app like Syncios. If it detects, you maybe in luck and try to back-up your data if possible. I hope that it won't and if doesn't, there is no other way to recover files. You should be restoring with iTunes and all data will be erased, or else your device may become unusable.

We just moved from the United States to Costa Rica. The first two days my mac worked great. Then all of a sudden I was trying to use a game application and the screen went black and there is a white cursor which I can move around, but I can't escape it. When I restart it seems okay and I see my main screen, but only for a second and then it goes black again.

I did a reset on my iphone 4.. now it's stuck on the connect to itunes screen.. I have tried EVERY troubleshooting thing on the apple site. I've reinstalled to a later date of itunes. I've rebooted.. please HELP!! iTunes stopped recognising my iPhone after I undated hence the reverte back to an older iTunes version. My phone's cord is fine it will charge in the wall on the dock as well iTunes just isn't recognising it?!?!
iTunes will also NOT recognize my iPod Touch.. I've reinstalled iTunes several times on all THREE of my computers to the same result.. I'm going insane.. The newest iTunes has made it a real hassle!! Before I updated my iTunes both connected just FINE!! Now neither my computers (3 of them) or iTunes will recognize the iphone4, or the iPod Touch. From what you describe it sounds like the phone is in recovery mode. Try connecting the phone to the wall charger that it came with, and perform a reset then connect it to iTunes again and try:
Reset
You should reset your device as a last resort and only if you can't restart it.
To reset, press and hold both the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons for at least 10 seconds, until you see the Apple logo.
