First webpage

This is my 1st webpage which I exported from fireworks using
fw8/cs2 into dw8/cs2. After I uploaded it to the server I am not
able submit a form the I built directly in dw8. I am getting an
error message,
Method Not Allowed
The requested method POST is not allowed for the URL
/makeappointment.html.
Apache/1.3.33 Server at roseduds.com Port 80 the form which
is linked to a web address.

If you want music files to play at one of your pages just click on the media icon in iWeb. Then you can choose what audio you want to play at that page. There's no copy write issue if your not selling anything to do with the audio yo chose. Hope this helps.

In Windows 7, FF 3.6.8. takes ages to open first webpage

Just installed FF 3.6.8 (dutch) in W7.
After starting FF, it takes ages to load the homepage.
For a whil this goes on for any new site to be loaded, then after about 3 mins. all seems OK.
What is going on here?

It surprizes me, that nobody has a cure for this problem....

Problems with my second webpage created with iWeb....

First of all, I'm new to Mac and iWeb.
I have created two webpages (very early stage) with iWeb and published both of them, just to test if it would work. The first webpage works fine http://web.mac.com/perallin
The second webpage doesn't work fine. Entering the URL will not show the page and I get an error in stead. By reading the iWeb help program, it tells me to enter http://web.mac.com/perallin/iweb/(name of webpage) but nothing happens??? Am I doing something wrong?? PLease help

Do you create two Web Site ore one Web Site with two pages. You will see it in the navigation bar in iWeb on the left side.
When you create two Web Site, both will have different URL. You can't find it out, when you set a Link in the first Web Site to the other. Than publish it. When you now go to http://web.mac.com/perallin with your browser and move your mouse pointer over the link in your webpage, you see the URL at the lower borde of your browser.
Now you can remove the link in iWeb, if you wish, and publish it again. So you have the two URL to both Web Side. I never publish to .mac, but I think there is an easier way to find the URL, when you log in to your .mac account.
When you create two pages, you have to create a navigation bar to navigate through your webpages or enable the "Include page in navigation menu” checkbox in the inspector windows of iWeb.

Where do I find my iweb webpage?

OK, I put together my first webpage using iWeb. I wanted to see what the file size was with the graphics and all but cannot locate it on my iMac. There is a folder called iWeb but all it has in it is a pdf file with acknowledgments. What is the default directory for iWeb? I do not has a "save as" option when I save an iWeb page, only a 'save" command so where does it saveto?
I also downloaded the free SEO app from Rage Software so I could add some metatags before I upload the page to a third party web hosting site I leased, but I suppose this task (assigning metatags) is done before the iWeb page is uploaded to the web? There is absolutely no literature on how to use the app.
Can anyone provide some assistance s'il vous plait?

iWeb stores the website data in a Domain.sites2 file whose default location is Home Folder/Library/Application Support/iWeb....

Redirecting from a template based webpage

I would like to automatically redirect from one webpage to
another. The problem is that the first webpage was created and a
template was applied to it, so now when I try to "Insert/HTML/Head
Tags/Refresh" Dreamweaver cannot apply the refresh because the
template has locked the head region. How can I automatically
redirect from a webpage that has an uneditable head, or how do I
make the head region of the template editable so that a "Refresh"
redirect can be added to the head tag?

First Page Loaded Freezes

Firefox loads the blank page when it starts and no other tabs are opened on start-up. No matter how long I wait after the browser opens, it will go unresponsive when I go to load my first webpage. It can be anything and will do it every time! After the first page loads, it will load all the other pages perfectly without freezing.
I like using Firefox because it is more customizable and functional than the other browsers, but I am considering changing to another browser which I really don't want to do.
I have already tried disabling my extensions and uninstalling, but nothing I have tried has worked. I hope someone else will have better luck in finding an answer for me.

Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.

If the new profile works then you can transfer some files from an existing profile to the new profile, but be careful not to copy corrupted files.

Boot the computer in Windows Safe mode with network support (press F8 on the boot screen) as a test to see if that helps.

Slow load of first page

I have recently noticed that it seems to take a long time for safari to load the first page when it starts up. I think it started ever since I ran that huge java updater. It is really annoying because it is just that first page. After that everything is speedy like always. I also noticed that with Firefox this does not occur. Firefox loads its first page in about 3 seconds where Safari takes almost a minute. If I quit an dstart Safari again it always takes a long time for that first page. I have deleted preferences and reparied permissions and a lot of the basic things, but Safari is still taking a long time just with that first webpage that it loads. Anyone else experiencing this?

Click on the Finder Icon in the Dock,
Click on ~/Library/Caches/Safari cache
click on Safari cache to highlight, & Get info,
using the ⌘, key along with the "g" + "i" keys
What is the size of the Safari cache folder?
If it is more then 2-3 MB's ...
Quit Safari, drag the Safari Cache folder to the trash
* do not empty the trash, unless you know this works for you,]
Launch Safari does it load more quickly?

Publish Error when trying to create a webpage

Please help... I'm new to iweb, trying to publish my first webpage with a set of photos from Iphoto. When I push the "publish" button, I get this message:
Publish error
There was an error determining the .Mac publish configuration values. Please try again in a few minutes.
I did try again, and again, and again, but can't get past this error.

I would suggest you send .Mac feedback to Apple:

Be sure to ask for a "status" for iWeb publishing on the main .Mac home page. All the regular services (Mail, iDisk, Sync, Web Pages, etc.) have had green lights for the entire weekend, but it's very clear the "publish" feature is NOT working even though the Web pages themselves are available. It would be really nice to know Apple is aware of the issue with a different indication for publishing pages.

Adobe Reader in browser window disappearing-need help

I have created a word document (WD1) containing links to other word documents (WD2, WD3, etc). I then turned WD1 into a .pdf file. I then upload this .pdf file to a web page. I go to this webpage and click the link to open the WD1.pdf file. When I click the WD1.pdf link on the webpage, a new browser window opens with Adobe reader in it displaying WD1.pdf. so far so good. Now when I click on the links to WD2 or WD3, these links open in Word and the correct files display, but the browser window containing WD1.pdf file disappears (thats the best way to describe it) and the first webpage is still open.
What I am trying to achieve is to have the second browser window stay open so the trainees using this web page will be able to click on the other references on the .pdf to get to all of the links without having to re-open it each time.
I have Researched in help and web forums, the only reference I can find is to uncheck the box next to Open cross-documents in the same window in preferences in Adobe. Which I have done and restarted my computer. I also noticed a preference show each document in its own window which is checked.
Here is the other rub, I have a desktop computer (OS is XP) and a laptop (OS is vista). I have Adobe 8.1.2 installed on both. The laptop with vista works the way I would like. But the desktop computer with XP does not. I did have Adobe 7.0.9 on the desktop but when it did do what I wanted I upgraded to 8.1.2 and it still isnt working. The real problem is that most of the trainees will be using their work computers with XP. I dont know even know if there is any significance in this observation or not. But thought I would throw it out there.
Does anyone have any suggestions of things I could try or know of any solutions? Please help.

Ever since I updated my Ipod Touch, it doesn't really connect to the internet well.

I just recently got a Ipod Touch for my sixteenth birthday two months ago and a few weeks ago I updated my Ipod and it hasn't been working right since. I have read quite a few of the other complaints on this website about what the update has done to other Ipod's, but mine is having problems with the internet. It will load the first webpage, but if I click any links, it will not load. I am very disappointed with Apple for offering this update. I spent a good amount of money for this device and it does not work right. Also the new layout is different and I don't like it either.

- Reset the iPod. Nothing will be lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Power off and then back on the router.
- Reset networks settings: Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings
- Restore from backup
- Restore to factory settings/new iPod.
- Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.

Removing extra blank space after Header in IE

This is my first webpage in Dreamweaver (actually it's my
first webpage!) I'm still super new and can use A LOT of help.
First off, I'm using the two column elastic left sidebar
header/footer template from DW. When I preview my page in IE I get
an extra gap between the header and the sidebar/maincontent portion
of the screen. I've tried zeroing all of my margins and padding and
that seems to have no effect. I read some of the other posts and
found some code that sounds like it should fix the problem, so is
this all I have to add to my code?

Also, I am trying to add an image placeholder to my header,
but everytime I try, the placeholder becomes part of the <h1>
tag. I don't want it to be part of the <h1> tag (I don't
think). I would like to be able to just place it in the header so
that I can float it left and have it not effect my <h1> tag
at all. Is there a fix for that? I would assume that there would
be, but seeing as I'm still at Newb status, I have no idea what
that code would be.

Is there a way to overlay a soundcloud music player widget (flash or HTML5) ON TOP of a jpeg image?

I am designing my first webpage for a new site. It is very basic in function, where I am going to be embedding a bunch of soundcloud.com players of my music to my website. This part is fairly easy. I currently have Adobe Dreamweaver CS6.
Since I have ZERO webdesign experience, going the easy route is best. It was suggested to me by someone to create what I wanted my webpage to look like in photoshop (which I have lots of experience in). Essentially, I have a single image with lots of visual information on it, where I can then add "hotspots" if needed. So, I created my design, where there are specific areas ON TOP of the jpeg image where I want to overlay the soundcloud player. I am able to adjust the size, and format (HTML5 or Flash) of the player itself at soundcloud. I then have the proper code that needs to be put where I want it on top of my image.
Is there a simple piece of code, or a way in Dreamweaver to accomplish this in an easy way?

What is the proper way to slice this?

I'm newbie, have taken a DW class, but only info I have about FW is self-taught from the various tutorials
by John Wylie, Matt Stow, etc. on the adobe website. Created my first webpage comp
in FW (attached) and trying to bring it to DW, but having a lot of trouble trying to figure out how to properly
slice the banner portion so that I don't lose the page gradient, and I am able to use FW to generate the "up" and "down"
state of the navigation buttons (hover will be coded in DW).
Is there a proper, not too complex method of slicing this so that I can bring it to DW? Or have a created an impossible
design by putting navigation areas along the same y-co ordinate as the logo?

I was using the overall page gradient as the bckground image.
1. Can I have 2 bg images
on one page, the gradient and the banner area? (The gradient starts in the upper left hand corner of the page)
2. Do I Export as Images only? or as CSS and images?
3. When you say "right align and add to header, you are telling me to add it as a layer to the jpeg header file,
then flatten/optimize the image to import into DW?
4. For the buttons you say I can add a div inside the header to hold the navigation. This is what
I wanted to do, but Where to slice? If I slice only the navigation buttons, (either all together or
individually, how to I set up the div in DW so as not to have the buttons overlay?
5. I don't understand what you mean by "turn off the large slice view"

Need Help with DW 5.5 spry menu bars.

I was given an unopened/registered Creative Suite 5.5 a couple days ago so I installed it and got to work on a website for my upcoming business. I got the home page finished, and so i saved it as a template to use for the remaining pages. But as soon as I click "save" my horizontal Spry Menu Bar becomes vertical at the top of my page. If i click on the Spryhorizontalmenu.css a message appears at the top of the screen that says something along the lines of "spryhorizontalmenu.css is not stored on local disk Get" but it will not let me access the link for help and I have been stumped for days. This is my first webpage and any help for this newbee would be very much appreciated.if you have questions please ask!!!

If horizontal is turning vertical, I have a feeling what is happening is that when you publish it, it's not connected to any style sheet -- or you have the style sheets in the wrong order.
Remember, with CSS (Cascading Style Sheets) the last stylesheet trumps the earlier one. That's perfectly OK if there are no conflicts, but there may be some that can cause problems.
Thus, you'd be looking for:
<link href="styles.css" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css">
<link href="navigation.css" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css">
If navigation.css is first, styles.css may be rewriting your styles for your spry navigation.
Now, I'm going to throw you a curve. Spry has been discontinued and it "going away." I recommend you learn how to make your own navigation and Spry is usually used for drop-down navigation. You can do that in straight HTML and CSS.
