First website-be gentile

Hi everyone!
I've decided to post my first website. Everything is running smooth so there shouldn't be any problems.
It's a noncommercial site for me and some friends. I've done everything on it pictures, filming, editing, uploading and some of the snowboarding you name it. Mainly just a hobby of mine.
I'm new to a lot of this but this support page has been more than help full. All comments are welcome and appreciated. Well I guess it's time to face the music.

You said you liked the video. Witch one? I'm curious. I agree with you on the links being hard to see. I've been wondering if there's anyway to change the color or location of them? The web site your setting up sounds pretty cool, you'll have to keep everyone posted. I checked out your post "site feedback 2", looks good. That text box with scroll was cool. How did you do that? I'd like to something like that for my videos. Do you know if you can display links to your other pages in one?

My website is hosted through Yahoo. Their cheep, the support isn't the greatest, and the site builders provided aren't up to date with Mac's. On the other hand if your using iWeb you shouldn't have to many problems. Yahoo's photo gallery page has some nice features and is real easy to set up. I prefer it over the iWeb one. Too many issues with photos not showing up.

The image fill feature is probably one I have over used. Most of the images are from the video that is playing so I really like that feature. I made sure to compress the file size of each one to reduce upload time but maybe I should just stick with one. Something that allows the links at the top to be shown easier.

Yes io is the site name I used in iWeb. I didn't realize dragging each file to my main hosting directory without the site folder would eliminate the long url. I'll have to try that.

What is the best way to do this. Is it possible to do this without a cms system because cms is for me like flying to mars..
Is there some kind of program so my client can upload some pictures and changes some text on all the pages?

Help- Trouble Publishing First Website

Hi, I built and I am ready to publish my first website to the web. I have a host and an ftp account and have signed into the ftp account. I have fallowed a tutorial from tutvids.com that tells me how to publish my site and I fallowed it exactly. I am able to connect to the server from dream weaver and I am even able to see my files on my cpanel on my web server. I also have been able to connect ftp account on filezilla and I can see my files. After all of this my site is still not online and I am wondering what I am doing wrong? Am I missing something? Is there something I can check to see if I have done something wrong? Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

I am getting an error on filezilla saying connection closed by server but before that it did connect to the server and it did have the files. I sent a support ticket to the server asking them for their help but of course they have not answered me back yet. The web address is www.centerstagesalon.net. When I got to that site it just shows the host and that I can sign in to upload the site but it should be the site. The web hosting account was created two nights ago but the domain name was purchased a couple of months ago. The domain name was purchased from a different provider but I have already pointed it to the the host and it does go to the host. The tutorial showed that when you go through the site manager on dreamweaver you put in your ftp info and test it and mine worked fine. I then fallowed the instructions to add the site files and they were added fine. Then I checked to see if it was online and it wasn't. So then I tried to get help through the host. I submitted a support ticket, which hasn't been answered. I also fallowed the instructions and configured the ftp account and dl filezilla. I was able to connect to the ftp account through filezilla aswell and saw the files on that. I then went to my file manager on cpanel for my web host and the files for my site were there under the public folder but still the site is not online. So I am confused and thinking maybe your right that something is wrong with the host. I hope they answer me soon!!

Adobe dreamweaver cs5 creating your first website part 2

I'm trying to do the study creating your first website 2 but I have a problem. Maybe I'm stupid but all the time they are talking about figures but I don't see any picture. In part 1 they where there but in part 2 I see or find no pictures or figures at all. Can anyone help me, maybe even after that has stopped laughing about my ......hahaha Thanks!

I'm at this moment in Portugal and I work with Mozilla, I tried with Explorer but the same result. I got an answer from Hans G who suffers the same problem and he said we had to be patient.....because the tutorial would come later. But you have it already? well patience can be a good thing on the right moment offcourse, thanks anyway it seems that I have to......

Please help! first website! movie clip placed on main timeline wont play!

Hi! if any one could please help me it would be greatly
appreciated!
So im trying to make my first website in flash and ive ran
into a problem. I have the main movie, my main time line. I have a
few animations going on in this that were all created in that main
time line. those work fine. however, i created two new movie clips
(still inside the same .fla file) and animated them with thier own
time line. I then thought you could just drag and drop these movie
clips onto your main time line and they would play inside the
movie. but when i press ctrl + enter, the dont play!
here are some points of intrest.
my main movie (the main time line) is 130 frames.
the movie clips i made inside the same .fla file are between
400 and 600 frames.
i placed both new movie clips on the 130th frame in the time
line with their own layers.
also there is a layer for actions on the 130th that has
stop();
i thought that maybe the time line had to be as long as those
movie clips i created and so i extended it but they still didnt
play.
im thinking action script is involved? please help me im
getting pretty frustrated and im sure there is something simple to
achieve this.

called front two and front one and are layers with the same name.

Hey Matt,
I'll take a look at your file, but as a general rule, a
movieclip's timeline plays automatically when it is first
instantiated. Instatiated means its first frame where "it exists"
on the timeline that contains it. So the layer that holds your
movieclip animation, needs to extend the length of the timeline you
want that movieclip to "exist". Other than that rule, the frames
don't NEED to match the frames inside said movieclip.
So, if movieclips play automatically, and yours isn't, there
must be something either stopping the movieclips timeline, or your
movieclip isn't existing on the timeline because the layer that
holds it, doesn't have keyframes the length you need it to.
Yeah optimizing your sprites (2d graphical elements), and
using vector when you need to (if you don't know the difference
between raster and vector, google it) will significantly lower your
outputted .swf file size.
Edit: After looking at your file, your movieclips are not
playing (well, they're technically playing, just not showing up)
because your masker layer has multiple objects on it. A masker
layer (not to be confused with the maskee layer, the layer being
masked) needs to have only one object on it, or else you break the
mask. The grey border of your mask movieclip needs to be deleted
before your animation will play.

How to find "start-dreamweaver-first-website" zip in local site folder?

I have download that file already. But somehow it does not show up on the "local site folder" when i want to save it as in the tutorial video suggest....
Do i need to do anything else before that to save it.???
BTW, how to unzip that folder....??

I'm designing my first website using Fluid Grid Layouts. CSS question

I'm designing my first website using CS6 and Fluid Grid Layouts so I need a lot of help. I realize CS6 creates something called a boilerplate css file. However, in addition to that file, do I have to create an individual external style sheet for my desktop, ipad, and smart phone pages (3 separate style sheets) or should I have only one external style sheet for everything?
Or this is there another recommended way to use Fluid Grid Layouts?

FluidGrid Layouts creates a boilerplate.css file, a respond.js file & a Fluid.css file for you -- you name it whatever you like. I like to call mine Fluid.css so I remember what it is.
Fluid.css contains mobile first -- upon which all others are based. Inside, CSS Media queries, you'll find code for tablet and later on desktop. So one stylesheet generated by DW covers all 3.
TIPS:
FluidGrids are very temperamental. Do not tamper with boilerplate.css or Fluid.css files. Instead create a separate external style sheet for your typography & other custom content styles.
Build mobile first, then tablet and finally desktop.
Keep your designs simple and uncluttered.
Don't worry about content until you get the layout perfected.
Have fun with it . You'll probably have to start over a few times before you get what you want.

First website with Adobe.

I love creation, but for many years have just used iWeb to create web pages. Now that I have the time to put more time into creating a site, I have bought Creative Suite Design Premium and also got Cold Fusion and Flex. I want to create a website that is informational about Archery and Bow hunting, consisting of blogs, rss, video, photo albums and complex calculators. Where would the first place be for me to start?
I am familiar with Photoshop as I used it in High school for art but as for as other programs such as Dreamweaver, Flex, Fireworks, I'm lost. Understanding what code to use for what. Pretty much a COMPLETE beginner with web development, but I pick up on things real quick.

First Website Attempt

This is my first attempt at building a website. I have many

32bit PNG. Do

I require help with my first website

As you can see from many of my recent posts, I am new to web development, and I have decided that I am going to need some help.
This forum has been a huge help, and I will continue using it, but the reality of the situation is that progress is slow as I am learning as I go, each junction I reach and require help with is holding up progress, which wouldn't be a problem if I had more spare time, but I simply don't.
Is anybody willing to help me? It would be paid work so I would need to discuss how this would work with rates etc... here are some details:

What you are basically after is a tutor, to guide you in what you are doing. In this respect it may be worth your while to read-up on designing web pages,as after a quick glance of the code, (from your previous post regarding the background image ) the main problem you are having is that you are not 'implementing' a consistent design/development procedure.

First website to be created with Adobe Muse

Hi Guys,
This will be my first attempt on creating a website on Adobe Muse. I've been watching some nice tutorials recently and want to give it a try now.
My first question would be of course what is size of the web pages that I will design in Muse.
ShouId leave it as the default preset when Muse loads or maybe a 1920px Width by 1080px Height would be nice?
Please take note that I would like to have the home page ''fixed and non scollable '' Do you think 190 x 1080 would be ok?
Also, the website will be only for Desktop.

Well, As I mentioned, It will be only for desktop PC's and Laptops. ( No tablet or mobile browsing ).
So which size of the pages you recommend me?
By the way, only the homepage I would like to make non scrollable and maybe if i get the correct size of a webpage that will be '' fixed, no need for methen to implement the css code in Muse.
