First Website. How do I stop an object in horizontal motion?

I have no web design experience at all, and  I've searched all over, but perhaps I don't know the correct lingo. I want to apply a horizontal scrolling motion to an object, but I only want it to move about an inch or so to the right and then stop. I can only seem to get it to keep moving off the page. It's part of a pinned menu bar, as soon as you start scrolling down, I want the menu buttons to separate from the middle to make room for the logo that will drop in the center of the bar from the top.

I've tried that. It just keeps going off the page as I scroll down. Maybe I'm not doing something right? It seems like there should be something else I need to do to tell the object where and when to stop.
Perhaps this image will better convey what I'm trying to do. The menu items are together at the top of the screen, as soon as you scroll down they should separate slightly from the middle and stop, making room for the logo.

  • How do I stop background fading on Quiz Results slide

    Hi
I'm using Captivate 6 and having a whole heap of problems creating a quiz using question pools. First one - how do I stop the background fading away on the Quiz results slide? The background is from a master slide and the results slide has the settings in the screenshot attached
I've tried moving changing the length on the timeline, but this then makes the Continue button unclickable for ages. The background fades once it is clickable in Preview mode (see screenshot below)

    Hello,
Please go that Master Slide and click on that image and under Properties Inspector check the "Transition" option
It should not be "Fade In" or "Fade Out", it should be "No Transition" :
    Hope this helps !!
    Thanks,

  • In search in Safari on my Ipad how do I stop multiple first letters typed

In the search feature of Safari how do I stop multiple first letters from automatically being entered. Example if I entered an A as the first letter it enters automatically 3 A's, This is frustrating to always have to delete 2 of the letter A to be able to continue entering my Question or what ever I may be searching for? Any help is appreciated. Thanks

I don't know what you are getting multiple letters in the search (URL) field in Safari. If you get double caps or double letters when you type in the text area here in the ASC forum, that is because of a bug in the Jive Software that Apple utilizes to run the forum. There is nothing at all that you can do to fix that.
If you really are getting double or triple letters in the URL field - that is the search field in Safari in iOS 8, try clearing Safari. Settings>Safari>Clear History and Website Data. Then reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10 seconds until the Apple logo appears. Let go of the buttons and let the iPad start up.

  • How do I stop firefox from opening a seperate window whenever I click on a link to log into a different website with my social network account?

Whenever I try to log into a website (i.e. King of the Web.com,etc.) with my facebook account, a new window will appear behind my current window and when I click on it, it never shows up even when I minimize the current website, how do I get the new window to show so I can log in and vote for Tre Melvin? (P.S. vote for Tre!)

I think Facebook uses its facebook.net domain for this function. When you have a problem with one particular site, a good "first thing to try" is clearing your Firefox cache and deleting your saved cookies for the site.
    1. Clear Firefox's Cache
orange Firefox button ''or'' Tools menu > Options > Advanced
On the Network mini-tab > Offline Storage : "Clear Now"
    2. If needed, delete the site's cookies here
Right-click this page and choose View Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
In the search box at the top of that dialog, change the domain to facebook.net and remove the site's cookies.
Then try using the login with FB feature again. Does it work?

Every single website url address, or url address within a website page is being added to my location bar/address bar drop down menu.
I don't want everything added or saved in the location bar. Only urls that I used a lot used to be saved there but now every single url (and url within a url)I visit is being added to it.

I'm sure it's a simple browser setting but I've checked and nothing gives an option to control this.

A possibility is to open the links via the right-click context menu or a middle-click in a new tab to make sure that Firefox sees them as regular links.

  • A downloaded Pdf file of a Manual keeps appearing on the screen after I close a website I have visited even though I have deleted the download. How do I stop it

The download of the Calibre Manual appears on the screen every time I close a website. I have deleted all references to the Calibre Manual from my computer so I assume Firefox is accessing it each time I access a website. Could this happen? In any case how do I stop it?
    Thanks for your support.

This manual is displaying in a Firefox tab, in the built-in PDF viewer (or Adobe Acrobat viewer)?
If you open a new blank tab using Ctrl+t, does it show up there?
If you click the Home button on the toolbar or press Alt+Home on the keyboard, does it show up as one of your home pages?

  • The website recommending that I download Codec Performer opens in a new window about every 10 seconds. How can I stop this?

A website recommending that I install Codec Performer opens a new window about every 10 seconds. How can I stop this?

One potential cause of this is an unwanted extension. Try disabling ALL nonessential or unrecognized extensions on the Add-ons page. Either:
    * Ctrl+Shift+a
    * orange Firefox button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons
In the left column, click Extensions. Then, if in doubt, disable.
Usually a link will appear above at least one disabled extension to restart Firefox. You can complete your work on the tab and click one of the links as the last step.
If you are adventurous about installing software from various websites, you may have loaded a bundle that contains some, well, crap. To review recent additions, go to your Windows Control Panel, Uninstall a Program, and click the "Installed on" column heading to bring the most recent items to the top. Remove anything unexpected or unwanted.
    Success?

  • How do I stop pop-up websites in Safari?

While using Safari random web-sites open new windows in my browser. How do I stop these sites from popping up?

There is no need to download anything to solve this problem.
You may have installed one or more of the common types of ad-injection malware. Follow the instructions on this Apple Support page to remove it. It's been reported that some variants of the "VSearch" malware block access to the page. If that happens, start in safe mode by holding down the shift key at the startup chime, then try again.
Back up all data before making any changes.
One of the steps in the article is to remove malicious Safari extensions. Do the equivalent in the Chrome and Firefox browsers, if you use either of those. If Safari crashes on launch, skip that step and come back to it after you've done everything else.
If you don't find any of the files or extensions listed, or if removing them doesn't stop the ad injection, ask for further instructions.
Make sure you don't repeat the mistake that led you to install the malware. It may have come from an Internet cesspit such as "Softonic" or "CNET Download." Never visit either of those sites again. You might also have downloaded it from an ad in a page on some other site. The ad would probably have included a large green button labeled "Download" or "Download Now" in white letters. The button is designed to confuse people who intend to download something else on the same page. If you ever download a file that isn't obviously what you expected, delete it immediately.
Malware is also found on websites that traffic in pirated content such as video. If you, or anyone else who uses the computer, visit such sites and follow prompts to install software, you can expect more of the same, and worse, to follow. Never install any software that you downloaded from a bittorrent, or that was downloaded by someone else from an unknown source.
In the Security & Privacy pane of System Preferences, select the General tab. The radio button marked Anywhere  should not be selected. If it is, click the lock icon to unlock the settings, then select one of the other buttons. After that, don't ignore a warning that you are about to run or install an application from an unknown developer.
Still in System Preferences, open the App Store or Software Update pane and check the box marked
Install system data files and security updates (OS X 10.10 or later)
    or
Download updates automatically (OS X 10.9 or earlier)
    if it's not already checked.

When you open a local file with Flash Content that links to a website, that warning is automatic, because it's one of the top ways viruses are delivered. If you "trust" the local file in the Global Settings, the warning goes away. It's that simple.

  • Safari keeps opening new taps with random website how do it get it to stop?

Safari keeps opening new taps with random website how do it get it to stop?

There is no need to download anything to solve this problem.
You may have installed the "VSearch" trojan. Remove it as follows.
Malware is always changing to get around the defenses against it. These instructions are valid as of now, as far as I know. They won't necessarily be valid in the future. Anyone finding this comment a few days or more after it was posted should look for more recent discussions or start a new one.
Back up all data before proceeding.
    Step 1
From the Safari menu bar, select
              Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Extensions
Uninstall any extensions you don't know you need, including any that have the word "Spigot," "Trovi," or "Conduit" in the description. If in doubt, uninstall all extensions. Do the equivalent for the Firefox and Chrome browsers, if you use either of those.
Reset the home page and default search engine in all the browsers, if it was changed.
    Step 2
Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
    /Library/LaunchAgents/com.vsearch.agent.plist
Right-click or control-click the line and select
Services ▹ Reveal in Finder (or just Reveal)
from the contextual menu.* A folder should open with an item named "com.vsearch.agent.plist" selected. Drag the selected item to the Trash. You may be prompted for your administrator login password.
Repeat with each of these lines:
    /Library/LaunchDaemons/com.vsearch.daemon.plist
    /Library/LaunchDaemons/com.vsearch.helper.plist
Restart the computer and empty the Trash. Then delete the following items in the same way:
    /Library/Application Support/VSearch
    /System/Library/Frameworks/VSearch.framework
    ~/Library/Internet Plug-Ins/ConduitNPAPIPlugin.plugin
Some of these items may be absent, in which case you'll get a message that the file can't be found. Skip that item and go on to the next one.
The problem may have started when you downloaded and ran an application called "MPlayerX." That's the name of a legitimate free movie player, but the name is also used fraudulently to distribute VSearch. If there is an item with that name in the Applications folder, delete it, and if you wish, replace it with the genuine article from mplayerx.org.
This trojan is often found on illegal websites that traffic in pirated content such as movies. If you, or anyone else who uses the computer, visit such sites and follow prompts to install software, you can expect more of the same, and worse, to follow.
You may be wondering why you didn't get a warning from Gatekeeper about installing software from an unknown developer, as you should have. The reason is that the Internet criminal behind VSearch has a codesigning certificate issued by Apple, which causes Gatekeeper to give the installer a pass. Apple could revoke the certificate, but as of this writing has not done so, even though it's aware of the problem. This failure of oversight has compromised both Gatekeeper and the Developer ID program. You can't rely on Gatekeeper alone to protect you from harmful software.
*If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination  command-C. In the Finder, select
              Go ▹ Go to Folder...
from the menu bar and paste into the box that opens by pressing command-V. You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return.
