Fiscal Variant, Holidays for Time Stream IDs

While choosing the periodicities for a planning area, I have to choose a storage bucket profile and the fiscal variant. Can any one tell where and how actually to create the fiscal variant(or for that matter, fiscal calendar) by myself.
Also, please let me know how I can create a time stream ID with holidays-both regular(weekends) and special.

HI Gurucharan,
For the Fiscal year variant go to OB29 transaction in R/3 (actually should be done by FI consultant) where the fical year period is maintained like 12 months or 16 months. This can be transferred to APO.
Time stream Id is just mapping a Factory calender in it. When the forecast transferred to R/3 the forecast orders wouldn't be created on holidays.
There are standard Fiscal year variants are there. Please check.

  • Time series inconsistency due to change in Fiscal variant/Storage bucket

    Hi All,
We got into the situation where running time series consistency check on a DP planning area fails with  the message pointing to, 'changes to Fiscal variant'.  We are unable to track any changes to the fiscal variant though there is a possibility that storage bucket horizon could have been changed. Is there a way to correct/synch this by running a report?
We are trying to avoid re-initialization here, though this is an option, for the obvious reasons to backup the data in production. Is there an alternative solution to fix this inconsistency?
    Cheers!

    Dear Ashok,
You should never change a FYV when this FYV is used in a storage
bucket profile which is used in a planning area and if time series
objects are already created. It is no problem to maintain the FYV for
an additional time range, but changes and deletion of periods should
never be made if the FYV is actively used. You should not
change existing periods. If you want to make any changes to buckets
in your FYV or delete buckets, you should always make a COMPLETE
backup of ALL your data from the planning area into an InfoCube,
then delete the time series objects for the planning area (and with
this all the data in liveCache) and then change the FYV. After that,
you can create time series objects again and reload the data from the
Backup-InfoCube into the planning area. If you do these steps, you
will not risk to loose any data. The data in the InfoCube will be
    the backup you can reload.
As some processes check the FYV some time before and after it is used,
it is very recommendable to maintain the FYV at least 2 - 3 years in
the past and in the future. E.g. if you create time series objects up
from 2001 you should maintain your FYV at least back to 1999 and if you
create time series objects until 2006, you should maintain your FYV
at least until 2008. It might be that you never experience problems if
you do not maintain the FYV in this time range, but some processes do
additional checks and then it can come to problems

  • Time stream from resource WC not valid for total display period (PP/DS)

    Hi Apo Experts,
As I enter the product view in the PERIOD TAB, this error message pops up "Time stream from resource WC not valid for total display period".
Diagnosis was "The time stream for resource WSMT200_9000_001 is not valid for the general display period. This can cause the display of the time buckets profile for this resource in the product planning table to be inaccurate."
Please, can someone help me understood what was this error mean and the cause? And maybe an idea on how to correct this.
    Greatly appreciate your answer!
    Thanks in advance,
    Raymond

    Hi Raymond,
the capacity of a resource in the live cache is generated in the past and in the future according to the settings Planning Parameters (/SAPAPO/RES01) on tab general data. Here the days- and days+ are important.
e.g. the resource has got the following parameters: days- 30 and days+ 180.
Today we have the 1th of January 2008.
After starting the product plan table you can choose the planning horizon from/to.
If the time fence is more than 180 days in the future you will get your message above because planning parameters do not "allow" more than 180 days in the future.
Instead of this the message do not appear if you choose a smaller value.
For more information please see SAP Note 449452.
    Hope this helps.
    Greetings

  • Single Query with multiple fiscal variants / fiscal period

    Experts,
Currently we have two different queries 1) for US and 2) for Mexico.
Both the queries are hard-coded with respective company codes and different fiscal variants. We have i step =1 variable, so in both query we have respective fiscal period by default in variable screen.  The user can decide to run the query for current fiscal period or manually overwrite it for past few fiscal periods.
Now, we want to consolidate two queries into a single one and behind the scene depending on company code entered by user we want the query to run for default period AND we also want user to have liberty to change it for different fiscal periods (similar to istep 1 variable) which is hard coded for each query. Please advice how to proceed?
    Thanks!

    Hi Durgesh,
I agree with part 1- we can let user select his company code, but my challenge is pre-populate or get the default fiscal period for different company codes.
    2) You can keep rest of the things as it is, because you will be populating the default period value and if user want he can select the required value manually.
(Alok) =  So if user runs report in Nov'2011 = the US fiscal period is 002/2012; but for Mexico it might be 011/2011 - so is there any way where we can give this value in prompt screen and at the same time not let user remember these values...
Since with single query and without hardcoding how to determine the current fiscal period for different company codes?

  • Delete old Fiscal variant / Fiscal Periods / Fiscal Year from the BW

    Hi
When initially Loading data we had different fiscal variant for each source system.
This was found not to be correct and after the initial load we reloaded the same data with a common fiscal variant across source systems.
Now the problem we have on hand is that we do not want the old Fiscal variant / Fiscal Periods / Fiscal Year to show up in the F4 pop up.
Is there a way to delete these old Fiscal variant / Fiscal Periods / Fiscal Year from the BW System.
    regards

    Hi,
Go to your infoprovider, select the required characteristic and in the Infoprovider specific properties under the F4 values for filter option, you can choose "Only values from infoprovider data".
Just check if this option is available with time characteristics or not.
    Regards,
    Durgesh.

  • Factory Calender and Time Stream

    Hi,
    I Maintain a factory calender A
where monday to friday is working
    and holiday on 1/1/2009
My Distribution centre is working 1/1/2009
How do i set up in APO?
    thx

Maintain Production calendar (For Factory) and Distribution calendar (For DC) using transaction
S_AP9_75000138 - Maintain Planning Calendar (Time Stream)
In calculation rule maintain 5 days as working day using calculation rule "Weekdays"
then go to bucket delete day 1/1/2009 if showing as working day in Production calendar and keep this day as working for Dist calendar.
Then go to Location master in Calendar tab
assign Production calendar for factory location and distribution calendar (in shipping and recving) for DC.

  • Shipping calendar- Time stream change.

    Hi All,
is it possible to make different changes in same time time stream for different location.
For example- there is a time stream TSTREAM , which is attached to shipping calender of both location LOC1 and LOC2.
Now if 23 january is holiday for LOC1 and not for LOC2, Can we make location specific changes in calender? Is there any way to do this? or do i need to create 2 separate time stream with one having 23rd january as holiday and another as workday and attach to each location?
    Thanks in advance!!

    Hi
As far as I know, I think it better to go for separate Time stream or Shipping calendar for different locations. You can use the same factory calendar while only creating time stream you can directly edit the buckets in one of the time stream according to your holiday calendar for respective location.
    Thanks
    Amol

  • Time Stream ID in Storegebucket Profile

    Hi ,
can any one help in finding the difference for a factory calendar which we use in R/3  to the time stream id what we use in storage bucket profile...
what exactly time stream id does in apo demand planning
    thanks
    Aravi R

A time stream is a  period of time divided into period types such as weeks or months used as a planning calendar.
Its use depends on the application
for eg in DP Storage bucket profiles, attaching a time stream should restrict data being stored in some periods - based on a holiday calendar for example.
use /sapapo/calendar to create time streams with reference to a calendar and use a work day calculation.
in the storage bucket profile creation, use this time stream id

  • Can I use my time capsule for time machine back ups and as an external storage device?

I have a time capsule and have set it up so that my time machine back ups are saved on it, but I would also like to use it as an external hard drive. Is this possible?
I know nothing about computers so please tell me in very basic terms. thankyou!

By external hard disk we usually mean one plugged into the computer by USB or Firewire or Thunderbolt.
None of those works on the TC.. it is plugged in by ethernet or use wireless connection.. that means it is a network drive.. not an external drive. The difference might not mean much to you.. but it is totally different to the computer. In the former case the computer has full control of the disk. In the case of the network drive, the disk is controlled by the TC firmware and the files are stored and accessed by network. This has large implications.
So here is my standard response.
    Store files on the TC.
This is asked several times a day.. obviously people are struggling with their latest SSD being too small.
The TC is not suitable for network file server.. but many people having no choice press it into service as such.
    Major issues.
    1. No backup.. no way Time Machine can backup a network drive. No place to backup to.. So all your files will be at risk. And you will need to buy a third party like CCC to do backup.
    2. The TC cannot be partitioned and mixing TM backups and data is not great. It was and is and ever shall be a backup device for Time Machine.
    3. The drive is slow to spin up and quick to spin down.. there is no control. In fact the TC is so lacking in controls for even the router side.. that you cannot do more than the most basic of setups.
The following are controls on the hard disk side.
Reformat it. You can name the share. You can do a full archive of the whole disk. This will go at a speed of aprox. 30-50GB/Hr so calculate how long an archive of a full 2TB will take.
    4. iPhoto in particular can easily corrupt its entire library with wireless networking causing a disconnection to one photo. Even if you do this;;; do not move your photo library... you have been warned!!
Even apple btw say don’t do it.
http://support.apple.com/kb/TS5168 Although mostly about FAT32           it adds network drives.
    5. iTunes can constantly lose connection to the library. The disk is slow to respond.. itunes on the computer will constantly spit out errors. Even in the midst of streaming the TC can spin down the disk due to caching.
    6. Do not use any live files on the TC no matter what else you do.. if you edit files in whatever program the file must be on the local hard disk.
    7. The only suitable location for most libraries is a computer. You can plug in an external hard disk.
Read pondini for some work arounds.
    Q3 here. http://pondini.org/TM/Time_Capsule.html

  • How can i put my pictures from my picture files into my iPhotos for photo streaming onto my apple tv?

Hi, I am a new user to iMac and have now bought just about every Mac product you can think of and have just taken delivery of an Apple TV and now want to stream photos but don't know how to transfer photos from my picture files over into my iPhotos for Photo Streaming. Is there an easy way? I have Mac for Dummies but they don't mention it there!! Guess it's too dummy for them!!! Any one out there can help me as I have loads of pics I would like to see on the big screen from time to time

You need to connect the Apple TV and the computer to the same network and then turn on "Home Sharing" in iTunes. Check boxes allow you to select what you want to share.
You'll see a "Computer" icon on the Apple TV and it holds all your music, movies and photos.

  • Time stream and Factory Calendar settings issue. Problems in scheduling!!

    Hi,
We have a factory calendar of working days from SUN-THU only (5 days a week).
Every working day starts at 07:00:00 (first shift) and ends at 06:59:59 at the following day.
I am not sure how to set the time stream. Do I set it for daily (5 days a week) with gaps start at 07:00:00. Or, as the standard way as daily (all days 1 -7) 00:00:00 - 23:59:59 without gaps.
We are using the planning board to schedule production orders that were created in ECC, but we see that we have problems with date corelation between the systems, and we think it is due to some wrong setting of the time stream!
    Thanks for your replies

    Hi,
For scheduling, the time stream of resource is relevent. As to how to generated the time stream, it depends on your resource capacity setting and your factory calendar. I'm not sure why your factory calendar starts at 7:00:00 daily. For the time steam of the resource, it should be ok to start at 7:00:00, and you mayexecute the time stream generation (ta. /sapapo/rest02) to save the time stream in LiveCache.

  • Can I use iPod for time machine back up?

I have several iPods that I don't use, and would like to use them as time machine back up drives, for multiple computers.
They are 30gb iPod videos. I am aware they aren't as reliable as an actual external hard drive and that this much read/write can cause the iPod to burn out, but for these purposes I don't care.
I have 300 computers that I want to restore to one master, as they are all used for the same purpose, but currently they all have OS 10.5.x of varying versions. I currently use a time machine backup on an external hard drive to restore the systems, but I have 15 iPod videos, and I would like to use 2-3 of them, to speed the process up.
I use carbon copy cloner once I get a system restored, to restore the stations around it, but time machine is about 15% faster than using CCC, so I would like to use these iPods to increase my ability to restore these systems on a regular basis without having to buy external hard drives or enclosures to make external HDs.
    I have tried:
Erasing the iPod in disk utility.
-It will erase the volume as HFS+ (extended journaled) but it won't erase the main device as it shows in Disk utility, it consistently stays as Fat32.
--Same idea if I recreate the partition. I tried GUID partition scheme, Apple Partition Map and Master boot record, but all produce the same result.
I also selected the iPod and attempted a zero-out of the whole iPod using the security options in disk utility. The system still will not let me use it for time machine.
Has anyone been able to use an iPod for backup? Are there any other techniques anyone can suggest to get this iPod to work?
    Thanks for your help.

And to clarify, originally I made sure disk usage was enabled on the iPod.
I have also tried dragging and dropping the contents of a time machine backup to the iPod, but it's still not seen as a backup volume. I suspect there are some hidden files that enable a volume as time machine capable. Any ideas on how to maybe copy the hidden files or any other methods that might work?
