Fit photo to calendar layout?

Attempting to fit a photo in its full length to a page on my apple calender - in the past there has been an option to 'fit to page' but this seems to have gone - any ideas on how to now get picture to fit in full to a page?

What is your iPhoto version?
In iPhoto 9.5.1 the option is in the contextual menu:
View the calendar page in "Layout" mode, ctrl-click or right-click the photo, then select "Fit photo to frame size".
I tested this with the "Photos" calendar theme.

Photos and layouts change size when adding photos in book layout

I am using the Classic layout to create books.
Sometimes, when I move a photo down into the layout, unpredictable things happen. For example, when I drag a photo down onto the page layout, sometimes the photo will change sizes, and sometimes the layout will move around (esp. with 3 or 4 images on a page). On a page with a single image, sometimes the photo comes in large, and sometimes it shrinks. On a 3 photo per page layout, sometimes the layout starts with 3 photo boxes in a row. I can add one or two, and then I add another (could be the 1st, 2nd or 3rd - it's the image file that I think triggers the change) and all the boxes scramble and instead of a row of 3 equal-sized boxes, now I have a page with 1 big and 2 small boxes. Totally unpredictable!
Is there any way to control this?
All the photo files I'm starting with are high resolution tiffs, around 8 inches square (most are squares, not 4x6 snapshots) at 300 dpi.
I have had this issue on 3 computers (and probably 2 different versions of iPhoto): a 2-year-old G5, and two brand new iMacs.

If you Control-click on the square photo in a book frame you can select the "Fit photo to frame size" option and the entire image will be contained in the frame. there will be some white space on the short side.

TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've written an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. Iphoto Books: How to Enable "fit photo to frame size" when theme grays it out by default

Don't know if this has been posted before or not, but I've been using the "Modern" Theme in iPhoto books and trying for the life of me to figure out how to get my photos to not crop while they're in a single-photo framed layout (I'm not using 4:3 photos; mine are 8.5" by 11"). Even fully zoomed out my photos cut off at the top and bottom. I knew about the "fit photo to frame size" option but the theme had it greyed out--except for on one page, in which it was already enabled. So I must have done it before without paying attention, but it took forever to figure out how to do it again.
Here's how:
1. Open up the page you want to modify. I'm assuming here that your photos are already placed, but if not, place the photo you want to use.
2. Click the Layout tab.
3. Change the layout to the single page full bleed option--no frame. Your photo should now be blown up across the page.
4. Right click the photo. The "fit photo to frame size" option should now be available for you to check off. Go ahead and activate it.
5. Change the layout back to the single photo framed option. Your photo will now fit inside the frame, although to truly see the whole thing you have to open up the Options tab and select the borderless option.
To save time in steps 1-3, and step 5, you can also change the layout of all your pages at once by clicking page 1 (not the cover, the next page), then opening the Layout tab, then selecting the layout you want. You still have select the "fit photo to frame size" individually for each photo.

There is an option for the Initial View that is "Magnification:" "Fit Page". And this works for the initial page when the PDF is opened and it does not matter what the page size it, Acrobat/Reader will automatically fill the screen with the page. If you want the zoom type to change with each page then you need add a page open script to each page to set the pages zoom type to "zoomtype.fitP"

How to get photos in calendar Source section

I'm putting a calendar together and didn't choose all photos before starting the layouts. Now that I'm in the middle of the project, how do I get additional photos into the unplaced photo section allocated for them. If I open the library, the calendar layout goes away. If I drag photos or albums to the Source calendar designation, it doesn't work.
I think I actually did this the other day, but I'll be darned if I know how.

Just drag the photos from the main library onto the calendar icon in the Source pane. That will add the photos to the photo bin in the calendar.

IPhoto Calendar Layout does not match preview

When I am selecting a Calendar layout to use, the chose of layout I have for 3 photos and 6 photos does not match what actually shows on the screen. When I go to select my layout, the choices are to have a big photo on top and a two little ones on the bottom. The main choice of this is whether to have text on the bottom or nothing. However, when I select it shows one big photo on the left and two little photos on the left. For the six photo the choice is to have a big photo along the bottom, a medium photo in the top left quadrant, and 4 small photos in the upper right quadrant. However, after I make my selection it shows one big tall photo on the left, one medium photo in the bottom right quadrant and then 4 small photos in the upper right quadrant. The layouts I want are what is displays on the layouts button.
Does anyone have this same problem>

Expand the Data Controls accordion and drag the collection that represents the view object for the activity created above (FodCalEventVO) and drop it as a Calendar.
But in Jdev 12c.--cannot find the Create Calendar choice.
In jdev 12c can drag and drop a calendar component from the component palette, but do not now how to bind it to view objects.

Adding external photo galleries, calendars, etc. in Catalyst

Is there a way of adding external photo albums, calendars (ie. yahoo, google) into a website made in Flash Catalyst?

The short answer is no. If these modules need to be within the design of the Flash Catalyst project, you can add them using Flash Builder to add them in. This method will require some effort and knowledge of ActionScript and the Flex Framework. If these modules need to next to the Flash Catalyst project, then you could modify the produced HTML file that contains the Flash Catalyst element and insert the modules.
Either way, you will have a modest amount of development to add these elements to your project.

How do I pan a photo inside a layout box?

I am in 'Edit Layout' mode.
I have placed a photo in a layout box and I wish to pan to particular area of the photo without changing the size or shape of the layout box.
The Apple "Versatile Printing and Publishing" Quick Tour video demonstrates this 4 minutes in, yet I can't figure out how to do it. There seems to be no icon that enable this.

A lot of things changed with Elements 11, including the available display views. There is no longer a calendar view like in Elements 10 and before. The closest available is to go to the Events page (click Events in the top bar), and then switch from Events to Smart Events (just below the top bar). This will group all of your images into the day on which they were shot. However, it doesn't separated them on a calendar and leave you the blank spaces where no images were taken.

How do i fit photos to shapes in photoshop

im trying to do a poster and wanting to fit photos into shapes in photo shop

Hos do you want them to be fitted? Images are rectangles as are cropped image. Shapes cam have any shape. Even Rectangle shape may not have the same aspect ratio of as your image.
Myself what I normally do is to resoze then image so that the re-size image will fill to bounds of the shape. Then use the shape transparency to mast the image to the shape.

That will require a 3rd party calendar app (if there is one with that format). Can't be done with iPhoto.

Populate a calendar layout with BC Webapps

How would I go about populating a calendar view with web app items? I am not sure how something like this would be built as it seems like a semi-complex layout.
Would I use a third party app that has the calendar layout and functionality already built in? If this is the case, how would I read in the web app items as a lot of the third party javascript calendars use JSON to read in dates and html.

I did and my initial logic was based upon them. I don't see where it shows how to manipulate the data before writing it to the file layout fields. Maybe you can send me a link to that section?
I was hoping that I would be able to reference the file layout fields directly to allow for manipulating the field values. Re-reading the file layout section and the application engine PeopleBooks I believe I need to create a temporary record which matches the file layout fields; i.e., the second alternative that I listed. Then, make my updates to the temp record fields as I load them. Then, load them to the file layout as a row.
I'm not sure how this would break down in Application Engine; would the insert into the temp table and the writerecord be different steps/actions, etc.

Arabic/french calendar layouts

bit confused about some calendar layouts. do french calendar layouts start with monday or sunday (i've seen references for both)? doea anyone have any ideas about laying out an arabic calendar? is it done rtl or ltr starting wuth saturday or what?
