FITS file format

Is there a converter or a plugin that will allow me to prossess 'fits' files in PE4 on a Windows XP computer. I have been downloading Photo files from MAST DSS (digital sloan suvey) but PE4 can not open them. I belive Photoshop CS2 can.

Photoshop doesn't natively open FITS files. You need a plugin. See this:
http://www.spacetelescope.org/projects/fits_liberator/
Free and has plugin that works in Elements version 2 and up. Good
documentation.
You'll probably need to do a manual installation if not using Elements 2.
The composite color action included uses Curves -- not available in Elements
4 & 5. There are details of what the action does in the documentation so
you can come up with a manual workaround.
There is also a free Java based standalone viewer which can convert to jpg
or other formats. See http://rsb.info.nih.gov/ij/ for details.

  • Support for FITS file format

    Hi,
I'm thinking about upgrading to 4.0 (from 2.0) but was wondering if anyone could tell me if 4.0 has support for 16 bit color depth? I generally use elements to do post-processing of astro images. These images are in fits format and there is a free plug in available for them but they require 16 bit depth. The maker of the plug-in makes no mention of 4.0 but says it works in 3.0. Here is a link to the plug-in:
    http://www.spacetelescope.org/projects/fits_liberator/index.html
Here is partial requirements they list on their site:
    # Photoshop CS2 (best), or
    # Photoshop CS (16 bit colour)
    # Photoshop Elements 3.0 (partly 16 bit colour), or
    # Photoshop 7.0 (only 15 bit colour, and only partial functionality for more than 8 bit colour)
    # Photoshop Elements 2 (only 8 bit colour) (Elements 1.0 NOT supported)
Also does 4.0 have support for actions like Photoshop cs? I'm on limited budget so I prefer not to upgrade to PS CS2 if I don't have to.
    TIA,
    Fred

PSE 4 does do 16 bit - although there are a limited number of things you can do at that depth.
It has essentially no support for actions.

  • BAI2 file format- 4 record

    Hello SAP Guru's-
In testing the lockbox functionality, I have a client who has a customer that remits with over several hundred line items in one check.  In the 4 record, the bank sent me a file with the following format
    Record Type  4
    Batch Number  001
    Item Number  001
    Overflow Type  4
Overflow Seq Nbr  01 to 99 then start 01 again
Last Ovfl Flag  9 (on last record)
On the Overflow Sequence number, when they got to 99 they started over to 01 on the next line item.  Is this correct?  I understood that they should change the overflow type from a 4 to a 6 and restart with a new 4 record?
    Please help!
    I will AWARD POINTS.
    Many thanks!

    Hi,
Please go through the following regarding Record 4 for BAI2 file format:
    <i>Record 4: Table FLB24
    4002003401716000002 00000100000000000000
    4002004402918000018 00001000000000000000gh
    • The item in blue is the Record Type indicator. Record Type 4 can appear numerous times in the Lockbox file. Record 4 is the “Item Record” and it is used to hold one invoice each. (Field name OR001)
    • The item in green is the Batch Number for the Lockbox. This item will have 3 characters. (Field name OR002)
    • The item in red is the Batch Item Number for the Lockbox. This item will have 3 characters/spaces. (Field name OR003)
    • The item in purple Type of Overflow record (1 space). In this case, it is a ‘4 record’ because it contains only its own item, not an item overflowed from a preceding 6 Record. (Field name OR004)
    • Bright green is the Sequence Number for the record (2 spaces). (Field name OR005)
    • The item in yellow is the End Indicator for the Lockbox. A ‘9’ indicates the last record of a Lockbox (1 space). (Field name OR006)
    • The next items in black are the Invoice Numbers (16 characters/spaces each). Only 1 invoice is placed into each 4 Record. (Field name IVCNR) The best field format convention would be to use left-justification, blank-padding right for the invoice number(as shown in the Record 4 above).
    • The items in dark yellow are the Payment Amounts per invoice (10 characters/spaces). (FiT)
    • The items in gray are the Deduction Amounts per invoice (10 characters/spaces). MT)
    • Dark Blue is the External Reason Code for the payment. (Field name RESTG)
    • Up to the next 30 character spaces are available for short text. They may be left blank if desired. (Field name OR011)</i>
In BAI2 overflow type is not changed, 4 is correct. Only in BAI format it is changed.
    Thanks
    Murali.

  • Which/Best File Format to Save under....

So I am wicked new with lightroom and stuff. I am not too tech-smart with some of this stuff. I have my finished edited photos that I want to export into their own "finished" folder. I want to send these photos to a printing site, since I do not have my own printer. My questions is: what is the best file format to export(save) these photos to send out for prints? Along with this question, how do I determine the right image sizing under chosen format? Like:I decide to use TIFF. I have Image sizing option. Do I click "Resize to fit" and if so what do I make my dimensions? And final, do I choose output sharpening? Hopefully I expressed my issue well enough that someone can help. Thanks for your time!

So I am wicked new with lightroom and stuff. I am not too tech-smart with some of this stuff. I have my finished edited photos that I want to export into their own "finished" folder.
In general, there is no need to create a "Finished Folder", nor is there any need to export your photos when finished ... unless you have a specific need to use the photos outside of Lightroom.
I want to send these photos to a printing site, since I do not have my own printer.
Aha! So you have a specific need to use the photos outside of Lightroom. You can create a temporary folder, name it anything you would like, export the photos to this temporary folder, send the photos to the printer, and then delete the photos/folder, as you won't be needing them again.
My questions is: what is the best file format to export(save) these photos to send out for prints?
Most people choose JPG, with quality level set around 70 or 80, but that depends on how big you are planning on printing the photos and how they are going to be viewed. Some people choose TIF, but not every printer out there can work with TIF files, so it is best to ask your printer.
By the way, let's not confuse things by calling Lightroom's Export a "save". In Lightroom, your edits are saved automatically, you don't have to perform any task to make this happen, and you can't turn this off. Save is different than export.
The answer is very simple: It depends!!!
You need to tell us what size you are going to print at, and what use the printed photos will have.

  • How do I view "TOD. file format" on my Mac

    Hi,
My problem: How do I view "TOD. file format" on my MacPro Book?
I am a marine scientist, working on very small marine animals, my research methods is to record these animals swimming and then track their movement with image tracking software.
    Equipment:
+ 3 x JVC GZ-HD7 Cameras which records in true 1920x1080i video, storing files in .TOD file format.
+ MacBook Pro + huge external hard-drive to handle these files.
    + Final Cut Express
The Hard-drive of the cameras is full and I need to download the footage, so I can record more experiments.
I’ve tried to backing up footage on the JVC DVD Burner, CU-VC40.
But when I try to view this on the Mac, there is the same problem with the .TOD file format.
I’ve tried installing the QuickTime component for Everio = no difference.
    Any help would be great!!!!
I understand biology and computers & tech is starting to give me a headache.
    Thanks!!

    Hello everybody,
first of all I wanna thank the founders for that great forum. Found interesting information here.
Hopefully I'll help with some data and have some questions at the same time.
After researching several communities I use MPEG SC 1.9 to convert the TOD files. There was a little disturbance, either to convert to HDV or AIC. Hopefully my little test will display the difference:
TOD file 39.7 MB in 1920x1080
DV file 46.3 MB in roughly 1.5 min
adjustments within MSC...Format: DV Stream(PAL, Interlaced,16:9, Audio rate 48000khz), scale Interlaced, color re-interlace, upper pic first
-> FCP no render for Video necessary
-> hopefully I got all menue options halfway right. Apparently I'm not US and use a german version
MOV file 143.6 MB with Apple Intermediate Codec in exactly 1 min
adjustments within MSC...Format: Quicktime Export, Compression AIC, Audio uncompressed, 1920x1080, scale Interlaced, color re-interlace, upper pic first
-> FCP rencer for Video necessary
-> hopefully that's the codec everybody means, when talking AIC !?
    General FCP question here:
I've set it to HDV 1080i 50 and then imported the files to the project. Apparently the movie in the canvas (100% size) should be huge, a lot of scrolling bars. But it isn't. It's a little bit bigger than the canvas or viewer window and the picture isn't that clear.
Same thing with the TOD file in Mpeg SC. It's not crystal clear, far away from expectations. Cars in city limits seem to have stripes while in motion. The frame size doesn't fit. It should be bigger than my smaller display can display.
Here's the info out of Mpeg SC:
    Stream: MOV001.TOD
    Pfad: ~/Movies/MOV001.TOD
    Typ: MPEG transport stream
    Dauer: 0:00:13
    Datenmenge: 39.73 MB
    Bit Rate: 24.66 Mbps
    Video Spuren:
    4113 MPEG-2, 1920 × 1080, 16:9, 29.97 fps, 28.00 Mbps, oberes Halbbild zuerst
    Audio Spuren:
    4129 MP2 stereo, 48 kHz, 384 kbps
    Stream Dateien:
    MOV001.TOD (39.73 MB)
Why is the 1920x1080 not the size it should be ? Honestly, if that s the quality from a daylight shot I will sell that camcorder right away and buy a PAL system mini DV for half the price. It's bad !
I've chosen Apple FCP unkompr. 8-Bit 4:2:2 in MSC.
    At least I got a 1920x1080 picture/movie. But what does 8Bit 4:2:2 mean ?
Is that what all of you do ? Guess not.
22 sec of movie 78.7 MB big turn out to 2.55 GB !!!
Still the quality isn't that great. Would someone please help me with the parameters in MSC to convert ? That would be awesome.
Lowlight quality of the camcorder is really bad. One bulp and it's spooky dark. But that's not that bad, if at least perfect lid scenes would be great.
I still wait for those super color pics

  • File Format options not appearing in the Save As dialog box - InDesign CC

So i was working with a legacy file (an .eps from illustrator4) that i placed into InDesign CC, and when i went to export as a jpg, the option to choose a different file format from the bottom of the dialog box was gone. Did i hit some crazy shortcut to remove the options, or is this a bug that occurs when working with certain legacy files? I've restarted InDesign, rebooted my laptop, deleted my Adobe preferences, reset my adobe warning dialogs, and I still cant export or save as any other file format because the option doesnt appear. And it doesnt matter if i create a new file or open an existing one. Please help. See the pic below. No option for file format on the bottom of the dialog box.

    Thank you very much!
Reinstalling worked, but i'd still kinda like to know what caused this problem & if this will continue to happen. To me, reinstalling is pretty much like having to reboot anytime you go to IT -- they dont know what the problem is, they just know how to fix/stop it.

  • Duplicate File Format options in Save As Dialog

I am getting duplicate file format options in my save as dialog. I am running photoshop 12.0.1 on mac os x 10.6.4.

Thanks for the answer, I have the same problem, happened after I uninstalled CS4, (using cs5 now) however I can't seem to find where the duplicates are located. Any tips as to where I should look?
    Thanks in advance!

  • How to export table contents in xml file format through SQL queries

    hi,
i need to export the table data in to xml file format. i got it through the GUI what they given.
    i'm using Oracle 10g XE.
but i need to send the table name from Java programs. so, how to call the export commands from programming languages through. is there any sql commands to export the table contents in xml format.
and one more problem is i created each transaction in two tables. for example if we have a transaction 'sales' , that will be saved in db as
sales1 table and sales2 table. here i maintained and ID field in sales1 as PK. and id as FK in sales2.
i get the combined data with this query,
    select * from sales1 s1, sales2 s2 where s1.id=s2.id order by s1.id;
it given all the records, but i'm getting two ID fields (one from each table). how to avoid this. here i dont know how many fields will be there in each table. that will be known at runtime only.
the static information is sales1 have one ID field with PK and sales2 will have one ID filed with FK.
    i need ur valuable suggestions.
    regards
    pavan.

You can use DBMS_XMLGEN.getXML('your Query') for generating data in tables to XML format and you can use DBMS_XMLGEN.SETROWSETTAG to change the parent element name other wise it will give rowset as well as DBMS_XMLGEN.SETROWTAG for row name.
Check this otherwise XMLELEMENT and XMLFOREST function are also there to convert data in XML format.

  • Does the file format differ when you Publish locally to hard drive vs. to the Connect Pro server?

I notice that when I publish locally to my hard drive to review a set of slides, I see a folder full of files. If I click on index.htm within the folder, I can launch the slides.
When I publish to the Adobe Connect Pro server, I merely see a url for the link to the course.
I'm not sure what this url link represents (as far as the file format is concerned):
Has the presentation been converted to different file format than what is published on my local drive? If so, what format is it in?
If  the presentation has not been converted, does the directory structured published to my local drive get replicated on the Adobe Connect Pro server, and the url is merely a link to the "starting file " within that folder (say, index.htm)?

The published output does not differ between publishing locally and publishing to Connect. The URL on the Connect server does, ultimately, point to the Index.htm or viewer.swf file.

the ReportExportFormat class does not have HTML format, it has got to be XML. Export to HTML is available from CR Designer only.

  • Mixed file formats in timeline not always playing nice.

Im using the latest version of premiere pro cc, and one of the great things about PP CC is that you can drop any file format in the timeline without trancoding it right? BUT! sometimes it doesn't play well when you add effects or titles, or adjustment layers. Lets say I have a 1080 DSLR timeline and I have a mix of H.264,ProRes and MP4 footage. When the footage is in the timeline with no effects, the playback is fine, but when I add a transition, a title or a adjustment layer over the footage, when it plays over that section, the footage sometimes stutters, or plays choppy. The footage will pause for a few frames an then continues, BUT only does this when effects are applied. Its behaves as if there is not enough frames to accommodate the transition or effect, which is not the case. But if I delete the clip and drop it into the timeline again in the same spot or I adjust the length of the transition the clip will play with no issues. Why is this happening? And yes ALL footage is rendered and I have powerful enough system to handle the work. Such simple effects should not affect timeline playback.

Hey Jim, with all do respect the symtoms may suggest that, as you stated but I know I have a powerful enough system. Im running a 8 core mac pro, 22gig ram,SSD drives and Radeon 5770 card. I have edited RED footage and Canon C500 footage with dynamic linked After effects on my system with no issues. So im certian its not my system.

  • IMovie 09 has trouble importing large video files from my JVC HD-40. I am trying to edit files such as these in 09. What should I do? Would buying iMovie 2011 help? I am shooting AVCHD files instead of the other mpeg2 file format.

    Hi,
I am new into the Apple Community. I have a camcorder known as the JVC GZ-HD40 US and I currently am trying to use iMovie 2009 to edit my movies. With my camcorder, I have the choice to use two different video formats: AVCHD or Mpeg2. All my videos are shot in the AVCHD (HD) file format. This camcorder also has a 120 G Hard Drive built into it. When I plug in the camcorder through USB to my MacPro, the Hard Drive of the camcorder shows up as a icon on the desktop. Many of my video clips are at least thirty minutes in length, inside the camcorder. When I try to import in iMovie my video files, it only imports around ten minutes of the video and skips to the end of the clip. I would greatly prefer to use my MacPro desktop to edit movies instead of my Windows 7 computer which seems to work fine. Is there a solution to this problem? Would the new iMovie 2011 application solve this problem? I also have the Final Cut Express to work with, and also, can't get it to work. What should I try doing?

    Hi all,
I have the exact same problem. I've just been to Thailand with my girlfriend, and we recorded a lot of stuff with my brand new Sony HD camcorder. And whenever the we ran out of camcorder memory we just emptied everything onto my HP laptop using the supplied Sony software, which produced m2ts files. When we got home, I realized that my Mac Pro/iMovie09 was not able to import this format. What a huge disappointment! Especially considering the fact that I just bought my mac back in March (my first mac ever) only for video editing and music composing (no problems with music composing, however!).
Well, I needed a solution, so last week I just bought the Voltaic HD converting software (35$), and it works great. No problems. Only thing is that my Mac Pro (quad intel core) had to work 24 hours a day for four straight days/nights in order to finish the converting job - resulting in 434 GB worth of mov-files. This is no problem as such, and the quality is great. BUT it seems rather stupid that this converting has to take place. If I use Sony Vegas on my PC, it works out of the box with my original m2ts-files. And I would really appreciate if Apple would implement a simple import function of m2ts-files in their software - one that would (if necessary) automatically convert the files to mov. Or even better: would work natively with the m2ts-files.
    Best,
