Fitting a photo or image to the photo box size

I cant always set the photo to fit the photo box size in iPhoto when designing a book.
How do you do this?
Can someone help me please?

That is the way you do it so if it is not working for you we need more information on what you want to accomplish, what you are doing,what happens and what does not happen
Another way to skin the cat is to be sure your photos are in a 4:3 ratio by cropping them - that is the ratio of the frames - as long as you are placing a 4x 3 ratio photo it will fit the frame

  • Changing the bounding box size

    When I go to print an image in Photoshop CC, a dialogue box appears and on the left-hand side is the image to be printed. Bordering the image are small diagonal lines which I'm assuming are the bounding box. The distance between the edge of the page varies from side to side and I want to center the photo. I can't see how to do that.
    Thanks.

    The print dialog preview area show basically three areas.  The Paper size the printer is set to and the sizes are displayed with numeric unites. If you see small diagonal lines these are showing the areas the printer can not print on with the current settings.  With different printer setting this area may change for example if the printer support borderless the side non printable may go way but there still be some top and bottom non printable area. The Bottom non printable area may go away if you switch from sheet feed to roll paper feed. Inside the diagonal line is the printable area and inside that a bounding box of the image. If You check scale for media the image will be scaled to fit within the print area.

  • How do I increase the location box size and decrease the search box size? The location box has been getting smaller and smaller while the search box has taken over.

    The location box is so short I can not see the url I'm typing in, such as 'yahoo.com' while the search box is so long I can type a whole sentence into it

    Place the mouse pointer between the location bar and the search bar and it will become a resize icon that you can drag right or left to adjust the relative size of the two bars.

  • How to solve the mail box size limit for thunderbird

    Background info:
    Emails are downloaded and stored in the Inbox file written one after the other.; they are not stored as individual emails in their own file. So the Inbox folder in the FolderPane is actually a file.
    Any email you delete is marked as deleted and from your point of view it disappears from eg: Inbox and reappears in 'Deleted' folder. In reality it is still in the Inbox taking up space, marked as deleted and hidden from view. Compacting removes all traces of 'marked as deleted' emails and reduces the file size. If a file becomes corrupted and you compact that file you may lose good emails. this can occur if you do not compact on a regular basis.
    It is wise to create a backup on a regular basis.

    '''RE: Archiving'''
    Archiving is not a backup. It is a means of storing old emails in smaller files accessible within your Profile mail account. So releasing space in other folders.
    If you have been archiving all emails into just one Archives folder, then you are putting all of your emails into one file.
    Did you set up Archive Options?
    See info at these links:
    * https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/archived-messages
    * http://kb.mozillazine.org/Archiving_your_e-mail
    Did you choose to archive by month and retain folder structure?
    By using these options, if you archived last months Sent emails and say you had another folder called 'Family' and you did the same, they would be stored as follows into smaller files, so you should not reach a mailbox limit.
    There will be no emails stored in the actual 'Archives' folder, nor the '2014' or '2014-5' folders, they will be in the relevant folder name - see below
    eg:
    > Archives
    >->2014
    >->->2014-05
    >->->->Family (one month of emails here)
    >->->-> Sent (one month of emails here)
    Suggest you do the following and in this order:
    * create a backup
    * delete any emails not required
    * compact folders
    * set up Archive options and organise emails as shown above, so that emails are only in that months eg: Sent archive Folder.
    * Create another backup when everything is organised.

  • Image Exceeds the maximum allowed size for a dual layer configuration

    Error message appearing on the log it's a 7.2gb project on a 8.5gb dvd. Any ideas as to how to fix this. The build was okay.

    Could be the way the meter is counting, or how you are looking at the size.
    http://dvdstepbystep.com/faqs_2.php (where are you seeing 7.2 Gigs?) If the size is over making audio AC3 or changing video enocoding rates could do the trick.
    Also if the error message is slightly different it could be an improper (or none) layer break.

  • Edited Photo File Size Too Large

    Hello
    I don't really know the best forum to ask this question.
    In simple terms, I have tried similar edits on the same photo (not much more than levels or curves, saturation and sharpening).
    It is a jpg image.
    The original file size is 3.4MB.
    In the different photo editors, the file size changes after enhancement are as follows -
    PhotoStudio 6 - 1.9 MB
    Aperture 3 - 2.9 MB
    Pixelmator 2.1.2 - 7 MB
    Adobe Photoshop Elements 11 - 7.3 MB
    I would like to know why the Pixelmator and Photoshop files are so much larger than the original.
    I am slightly puzzled as to why the PhotoStudio and Aperture files are smaller than the original.
    What I would like is an image which is close in size to the original, not something twice the size.
    Could anybody help, please?

    You can do somthing like this to get a preview image of those files:

  • Photos wrong size in imovie 06

    My wife is doing a slide show in imovie. I have a few questions.
    1) Is that the best program to do it? She bought photo to movie but it always crashes.
    There are about 1200 slides in this.
    2) When putting the pics into imovie they are only showing closeup on center part of the picture and not the whole original frameful.
    Thanks

    1) Is that the best program to do it? She bought photo to movie but it always crashes. There are about 1200 slides in this.
    That depends on exactly what you want to do, how you want to do it, and how much "control" is required. Basically, there are three primary iLife work flows -- an iPhoto slideshow, an iMovie slideshow, and an iDVD slideshow. iPhoto is handy since you can either create a self contained movie or a "Gallery" slideshow from within the managing application. iMovie is nice for maximum control and the mixing of media files, adding titles, adding transitions along with Ken Burns Effects. iDVD is a "Quick and Dirty" approach if all you want is a static slideshow with music burned to DVD.
    2) When putting the pics into imovie they are only showing closeup on center part of the picture and not the whole original frameful.
    Unless you have changed you default preference, photos are automatically added using the Ken Burns Effects option which is a "cropped" motion effect. If you want to "fit" a photo entirely within the display area, switch to the "Fit" mode. You can also modify the "start" and "end" viewing areas by modifying the KBE box sizes and positions. Another tip would be to make sure your project aspect ratio matches your digital camera's aspect ratio -- i.e., normally 4:3 or 3:2. Restricting photo use to either portrait or landscape mode with a matching display orientation may also help.

  • Exporting images the correct mb size

    Hi
    I'm having trouble exporting files at the mb size I want. I go to edits and set everything on the maximum export size and quality, so in effect a 10mb file gets slimmed down to about half at 5mb and I canot figure why this happens!
    I have shot in raw and I have some versions I need to export at the original or largets files size, aperture should do this surely?
    Thanks

    I normally edit jpegs just as they are, in versions, this should be fine I think?
    Yes.
    Also I find frustrating, when exporting, its always trial and error before I get the correct file size I want by adjusting the edits presets backwards and forwards, I suppose there is no default way of telling whcih size the file will be until this is dine I wonder? Its take a few goes before I know what size the file will be and then I can get on and export the whole project.
    No, because for  jpeg compression  the file size depends heavily on the amount of detail in the image. The resulting file size is hard to predict.
    If you have GraphicConverter, you could use it as an external Editor to export the images at a given File size. In GraphicConverter you can set the desired file size of the exported jpeg. I rarely use this, for me the image quality is usually more important than the file size.

  • Photoshop CS can't show the actual print size & other bugs...

    Although I have set in preferences my display's exact dots per inch (which is 92.72) , the rulers in mm and the real print size of the document, when I click on view print size, the document is displayed much smaller than the actual size! I have also set the printer (a virtual pdf printer) in A1 to avoid a possible scaling of the print size. So the software has all the required information, but still it can't figure out the actual print size!  What do you guys think about that? I personally think that the developers couldn't figure out how to do a simple task either!  Even though I work on photoshop CS occasionally, I have found too many bugs to mention.  The most frustrating one, is that it suddenly stops responding to key shortcuts! Then I have to select everything from the menus or save, exit, restart and re-open the documents -now imagine being in the middle of a complicated task...  Another huge annoying bug: When I "Select All" in order to copy a layer, if that layer happens to have some parts surrounded with transparency, Photoshop destroys their position and the image overall, by arbitrarily centering those parts in the pasted frame!!!  Also, too often everything disappears temporarily if I pause for a second while I drag a selection rectangle etc. They haven't even made the cursor capable to move in a gray background without being invisible!  So much for a "professional" expensive application!  Note I have installed the available patches for this version. I know it's a bit old but as I said, I work occasionally and I don't wish to pay hundreds of euros almost each year for a new version upgrade while I'm not even happy with the previous one!   BTW, on this thread editor when I hit "enter" to start a new line, the cursor goes at the beginning of the document!  Now, are the Adobe's web developers drunk or what?  Sorry, I cannot stand too much of stupidity right now...

    Hm, your readings seem to imply Photoshop thinks your screen resolution is just about 128 pixels / inch.  Not sure where it might be getting that number.
    For what it's worth, on my Vista system I mocked up an image as you described above:  An image of 3614 x 3196 pixels at 317.632 pixels per inch.  My monitors display 100 ppi, and that's what I have set in the Edit - Preferences - Units & Rulers.
    When I selected the zoom tool and clicked the [ Print Size ] button it zoomed to 31.48% and when I measured the display width with the ruler it came up 11-3/8", which is just about right.
    HOWEVER...  When I right-clicked the image with the zoom tool active, and chose Print Size it came up 8-1/4", which just happens to be about the same amount smaller than proper size that you're seeing.  Sounds like a bona fide buglet in Photoshop CS.
    I repeated the performance with Photoshop CS2.  It works fine in CS2 - the [ Print Size ] button and right-click context menu entry both put the image up the same (proper) size.

  • My crop tool in element 10 no longer functions. All the layer boxes go blank.

    When I try to crop a photomerge image all the layer boxes go blank, the box that should have the cropped image has a teeny paint brush overlaying a teeny canvas, no image.

    You might have some small values entered in the height, width or resolution boxes.
    See if resetting the Crop Tool solves the issue.
    With the Crop Tool selected click on the small downturned arrow and choose Reset Tool
    After you crop can you see the cropped image on the screen or is it in the layers panel your talking about?
