Fitting audio to slides in Premiere elements

I am trying to create a slide show in PE 7. I added an audio clip. How do I make the audio extend till the end of the slide show?

You can slow down the audio but other than that there isn't any way to 'stretch' it out. You can add another piece of music after, or you could edit the music to make the clip longer.
The other option is to shorten the slideshow or to not show the images for quite so long.
The Photoshop Elements Slide Show Creator has a feature that will fit the slides to the music ;)
In Premiere Elements it is more of a manual process.

Panasonic .MOV files only play audio no video in Premiere Elements 11??? Not Working Help

It all depends on the codec the file uses, Karli.
What model of camcorder is this video coming from?
Are you working on a Mac or a PC? Have you got the latest version of Quicktime, per the program requirements? When you started your project, did you select the settings for a DSLR at 720p? This is a vital step since it will activate the components your computer will need to work with many of these types of files.
    BY THE WAY, KARLI--

  • Audio volume problem in Premiere elements 12

How can I reduce or increase volume in the soundtrack???

Sorry for my English but I hope you understandthe following.
I have for the moment no time to go through your comments and ideas, but I certainly will do the coming days.
For good order I’ll explain my problem more in detail: (working with Window’s 7)
When I use Tools>smartmix, I change Audio 1 in “forground”, Comments in “foreground”, Soundtrack in “Background”, Audio 2 and 3 in “Background”. So far so good!.
Next step is: edit>preferences>audio>smartmixer, and the only thing I can change is “milliseconds (i.e. 10)”, “mix pause (i.e. 5 sec)”, and “reduce background in % (i.e. 90%)”. So far so good again!
The volume sound  of the audio track is indeed reduced when there is a conversation in the clip, but not enough, so still too loud, certainly when the conversation stops, the volume sound is far too loud.
    What do I want:
    a)      Remain the original volume from the conversations etc. in the clip, so don’t change anything in here.
    b)      Reduce the volume to the level I like!
I realise, this looks an easy and simple question, but I can’t fide out  hou too lower only the volume in a soudtrack!
Waiting your reply and many thanks in advance
    Regards

  • Where is the shuttle slider in Premiere Elements 13?

The shuttle slider is not visible and I cannot seem to find a menu option to make it so.  All other playback controls are visible, but not the slider. Can someone help?

    ronhazelton
I was just doing some checking out of Premiere Elements 13 Keyboard Customization and came across some information for you to check out with regard to the preview Shuttle function default keyboard shortcut command in the non Full Screen view.
In the non Full Screen view, please check out...
Shuttle Left function with the command of J.
Shuttle Right function with the command of L
Shuttle Slow Left function with the command of Shift+J
Shuttle Slow Right function with the command of Shift+L
Shuttle Stop function with the command of K.
When you get a chance, please let us know if any of those worked for you.
    Thanks.

  • How can I create a collage of multiple photos on one slide using Premiere Elements 4.0?

    Hi all!
I recently bought Adobe Premiere Elements 4.0. I'm having trouble with something and was wondering if anyone could offer any assistance?
I'm creating a slideshow using photos and videos, but with my photos I want to be able to create a few collages, by using multiple photos on the one slide. Usually you just have one photo on the screen and it moves on to the next one, but I'd like to have eg. the occassional slide that I can have say 4 photos overlapping onto each other, like a photo collage. Does this make sense and does anyone know how I can do this? I've searched the instructions and can't figure it out and the Adobe support line said they couldn't tell me but pointed me to this forum...
Any help would be much appreciated!
    Thanks :)

There are basically two ways, with a variation, to do this.
First, you could size the still images in Photoshop, or other, for the size needed on your Project's screen and then use Motion to position the image where you want it. The variation on this would be to use Motion>Scale to size the image and then Motion to place it where you wanted. You would stack the images on various Video Tracks as necessary.
The other way would be to place the images on the correct Video Track and use the Track Matte to limit the view of that image. You will probably use one of the two variations from the first way (Motion>Scale and/or Motion) to get the image where you want it, but then the Track Matte (building in Titler is easy) to eliminate any extraneous image data.

  • Audio Desync With Adobe Premiere Elements 12

    Hello,
So I am trying to edit a game-play recording, and I have noticed that the audio begins to desync farther into the recording. At first the audio is fine and it gets worse the longer the video.
I am capturing the game-play using Nvidia Shadow play. ShadowPlay encodes video using H. 264 codec and outputs in MP4 format.
I had been recording video in 60 frames per-second and 50Mbps.
If anyone could help me out that would be great. I have searched for a solution, but have not found any. One explanation I read said the recordings were too compressed by ShadowPlay for Adobe Premiere 12 to handle, and the other explanation was that 60fps recordings were also the problem and they should be recorded in 30fps. I am not sure if those explanations are correct though.
Thank you in advance for any advice you can give.

  • "Audio Mix" volume settings premiere elements 10 not "sticking"

The "Audio Mix" volume settings that I set after adding a soundtrack to video in premiere elements 10 have stopped working and are no longer "sticky". I am running premiere elements on a Macbook pro with about 100GB free disc space and 8MB RAM. The volume settings adjusted using "Audio Mix" would previously "stick" as adjusted. I have not altered anything in how I adjust the volumes but "Audio Mix" has suddenly stopped functioning.  Both the soundtrack and main captured audio track maintain full volume despite adjustment. I have tried to restart the computer and reload the program to no avail.

    Correct.
I used to be able to adjust the volume with the Audio Mixer "on the fly" with the video playing and it would stay adjusted (as depicted in the tutorials). This no longer happens. The Mixer used to generate keyframes automatically. It no longer appears to generate keyframes and the volume remains at baseline for all the tracks.
I have not tried to manually set the volume level by dragging it and creating audio keyframes on it yet. I will try this but the videos are long with multiple fade ins and fade outs and this would likely be too laborious to accomplish.

  • Locking audio to timeline in Premiere Elements

I'm creating a slideshow with pan-and-zoom as well as imported video clips.  I've created a "soundtrack" with imported music in Audio Tracks 2 and 3 and manually "mixed" the music so that the audio clips appear "staggered" on the timeline (i.e., one partial song in Track 2, next partial song in Track 3, next partial song in Track 2, etc.).  I manually entered beat markers for all of my anticipated video edits (as I have done for all my NLE software projects on other platforms).  However, whenever I shorten a video clip, the entire contents of audio tracks 2 and 3 shifts to the left correspondingly.  And, of course then my beat markers for the rest of the project don't line up.  This is completely maddening.  I can not find a way to "pin" or "lock" the audio tracks to the timeline. There isn't even any accompanying video for these tracks -- just music.  Every time I shorten a clip to match the beat, Elements "outsmarts" me and moves all future audio out of sync. And I have to shorten each clip because, for stills, the clip duration is set when the stills are "imported" to the project.  There must be a way to toggle off this free-floating audio.  Any thoughts...?  I'd be grateful...!

    Welcome to the forum.
Unfortunately, PrE does not allow Locking Tracks, like PrPro does. I have requested this feature for several years, and for each new PrE release, as I feel it is very important and useful.
I usually am adding my soundtrack as the last thing I do, just before I Export/Share, so it does not bother me that much, but doing what you are, or if one is doing a music video, then being able to Lock those Audio Tracks (I Lock Video Tracks in PrPro often too), would be such a useful feature.
Let's look for a way to get what I think you want, as a few additional steps might make your life a bit easier. You have your "mixed" Audio Clips on two separate Audio Tracks. You have them edited, as you want. I would think about Exporting/Sharing JUST the Audio to a PCM/WAV file @ 48KHz 16-bit. That will effectively mix your two Tracks of Audio into one stereo file. Then, you can Import that output file into your Project, replacing the two Tracks of Audio Clips. Being one file, it will not move, when you edit your Video. Two things to consider: in that output file, you will most likely loose your Beat Markers, but can add those back, and when you go to edit any Clips, that are "covered" by other Clips, some of the edit functions do not work, quite as they did when they were not covered, such as Delete and Close Gap - the gap will not close. It would be the same, if you had a Video Clip above the one that you were editing. Still, for most editing functions, that should not be an issue, but it will depend on how you have edited your Clips to that point. For Stills, you can Ripple Edit, and change the Duration up/down, as needed. If you are working with Video Clips, and have enough extra Frames (referred to as Handles, when dealing with Transitions), you can do the same with them. If they do not have adequate Frames, then you might have to shuffle things around a bit.
By Exporting/Sharing the Audio to a single file, you have, in essence, Locked that Audio Track.
As a side-note, some users have encountered issues with both of the Fixed Audio Tracks, Soundtrack and Narration. The usual "fix" is to just use one of the free "regular" Audio Tracks - just exactly as you have done already. I refrain from using Soundtrack, or Narration (though I have never had those problems), because so many others have reported them.
Good luck, and maybe we will all get lucky, and Adobe WILL honor some feature requests for Track Locking.

  • No audio on my project (Premiere Elements 10)

I am working on a video and i am up to putting in the audio. I put the music in the timeline and when i press play theres a bar that scrolls across it but theres no sound. I checked the audio mixer and when it plays there are no green bars going up and down. Please help?

MP3's can function perfectly, but many can cause problems. Per Steve's suggestions, also see this article for handling problematic MP3's: http://forums.adobe.com/message/4146900#4146900
Also, though they work most of the time, some users have experienced issues with the two Fixed Audio Tracks: Narration and Soundtrack. It seems to be a Project-specific problem, when it does occur, and most of those users have done Projects, where there are no issues - but, when they do arise, the "fix" has usually been to Move the problem Clips from Narration, or Soundtrack, to one of the regular Audio Tracks, that is empty. It might be necessary to create a new Audio Track, if you do not have any empty ones, in your Project.
    Good luck,

  • No audio after capture in Premiere Elements Playback

I am capturing video from a Sony DV camcorder using an s-video cable.  When I playback the captured video there is no audio.  I have played the .avi file in Windows Movie Maker and there is no audio there either.  any ideas???

S-video is only a video stream -- so of course you won't get any audio!
But more than that, capture from a miniDV camcorder should over a FireWire cable connection only.

  • Premiere elements 12 - no audio

Longtime Photoshop Elements and Premiere user... now on v12.  Premiere seems to work fine until I just realized there is no audio...
I can't  hear audio in the preview playback
there is no audio track at the bottom of the screen
when I write out MP4 files, no audio is present.
Any ideas?  O/S is Windows 8.1

    Hi A.T.
Here are responses to you questions...
Did you update it yet from 12 to 12.1 via the opened project's Help Menu/Update? YES
You say that you are a longtime Photoshop Elements and Premiere Elements user. What was the most recent version of these programs that you worked with and on what computer operating system immediately before going to version 12 on Windows 8.1 64 bit? I've used 3 or 4 prior releases.  I just upgraded from v9 => v12.  v9 was running on Win7; v12.1 is running on Win8.1 (64-bit)
Are you working in the Expert or Quick workspace of Premiere Elements 12? Primarily Quick, but I use Expert when I need to manipulate sound
Because of the longtime in your description of your programs usage, I hesitate to ask, but I will anyway so as not to take anything for granted.
    a. Are you working Run As Administrator as well as from User Account with Administrative Privileges? I am the only user of the machine, so my user account and Admin are one in the same.
    b. Do you have the latest verison of QuickTime installed on your computer? Yes
    c. What are you or the project setting as the project preset to match the properties of the source media?
    d. What are the properties of the source media?
    e. What are the details of your export to a .mp4 file?
Have you gone through the drill of checking the ASIO settings in preferences? Yes Can we assume that the no audio is only in Premiere Elements 12 on Windows 8.1 64 bit?  Correct
Are the Volume settings (Adjust Tab/Adjustments Palette/Volume Panel) as well as audio clip rubberband) OK? Not sure...
Could you post a screenshot of your workspace where you say that there is no audio track? The audio track is physically present in the input sample, is just not audible.  When I write out a MP4, there is no audio track present.
Have you attempted to delete the Adobe Premiere Elements Prefs file and/or the 12.0 Folder in which it exists? No... Nof familiar with doing that.

  • Premiere Elements 9 audio issue

Hi, i have an audio issue with Premiere Elements 9.
I just purchased a Dazzle DVC 100. I've captured Video/Audio through Pinnacle Studio no problems.
But when I try to capture in PE9 I only get Video. I have changed every setting i could find under the
audio preferences menus, tried every combination i could but still no audio. Am i missing something?
    Thanks for any help forwarded!
These are the settings i tried.
edit - project settings - playback settings - I've clicked both Desktop Audio/External Device Audio
edit - preference - audio hardware - Default Device - Premiere Elements WDM Sound
ASIO Settings - Input - Realtek Digital Input (selected)
                                                                                                      - Output - Speakers (Realtek High Definition Audio) (selected)
                                                                                                                    - Realtek Digital Output (Realtek High Definition Audio) (selected)
Tried the Default Device: Asio4All v2 setting
This comes up with 2 options Realtek High Def Audio and Dazzle DVC100 Audio Device
I have selected both these still no audio.
    I'm stumped.

Unfortunately the Dazzle is one of those low-end capture units that are pretty much made to work with the video editor that comes with them. Even converting the video won't make it more compatible with Premiere Elements.
As I explain in my books as well as in the FAQs to the right of this forum, the best devices for capturing video for editing your PC are called DV bridges. The best value is the ADS Pyro AV Link, available for about $100 online.
    http://forums.adobe.com/thread/431853?tstart=0
The video it captures load right into Premiere Elements and edit beautifully!

Card name: Intel(R) HD Graphics 3000
Speakers and Headphones (IDT High Definition Audio CODEC)
    750GB Integrated Hard Disk Drive
    3TB External Hard Disk Drive
While editing a 30:44 minute avi video file with 3 wav audio source files in Premiere Elements 11 the application crashes, no system errors or system crashes.
Windows reports that Premiere Elements 11 crashes and closes the program, no error message.
The crash occurs around the five minute marker of the video, I do not want to go past the 5 minute marker because I want to make sure my video is well throughout.
The video file is 28.8GB and both the video file and the Premiere Project File are located in the same 3TB External Hard Disk Drive.
The only programs running while I edit are Steam, Trend Micro Titanium Antivirus+, Dxtory, and Premiere Elements 11.
I have read over some of the other forums regarding premiere crashing and MOST of the ones that were relevent to my inquiry are from 2008-10 and involve premiere 8 on Windows Vista. This is prevelent on both Adobe and Google.
I have also ran a disk cleanup, disk defrag, system restart, and update checks, all updates are up to date, I check every month.

I only have the single 30:44 duration video.
I also downloaded G-Spot, from a suggestion made by Bill Hunt in an older post on the forum to find out the specific codecs that were involved in the video I am editing and what I received back was:
Under Video, the codec was listed as 'xtor'.
Under Audio, the codec was listed as 'PCM Audio'
The only video file in the edit is the 30:44 duration video file.
I used a recording software that I purchased called Dxtory, the program allows me to record certain programs on my computer's screen, namely video games.
The video's format is an AVI file, and the specific video codec is 'xtor' and the specific audio codec is 'PCM Audio', according to G-spot.
The video's resolution is 1280x720, the resolution is what I set my games to, if available, and its the resolution I have Dxtory setup to record.
Under Edit/Project Settings/General the project settings are set to 1080i, 1920x1080 resolution, on default.
I cannot change the settings for some reason, they are unavailable for me to customize, probably cause its the default until I add a video file.
However, when I open the 30:44 video project, the Edit/Project Settings/General settings are set to Sony XD Cam EX 720p, 1280x720. I do see a yellow line under the time line in the project, the line is not exactly above the video clips. I am also in Expert View.
My time line has changed increments, last night when I posted my first post, the time table was in increments of 22 seconds, and now its in increments of 15 seconds, the yellow line is below these increments, but only in certain parts, for my project the yellow line appears in the time table in the first 1 minutes 51 second and later at 4 minute 36 second increment to 4 minute 47 second increment. I do not have an edit on the first 1:51, but on the 4:36-4:47 I do have a text edit that sits on video 2, that was the last edit I did on the project, the application shortly crashes after 4:47, the crash is also occuring with and without the text edit. I'm going to continue to check settings and I will use Windows Event Viewer to find if I missed anything.
    Thank you for your asssistance.

  • Adobe Premiere Elements 7 With Worthless Error Messages.

I have been a programmer since 1984, and if I saw a programmer in my team wrote these worthless error messages, I would go into my office and kill myself.
I Googled them, and I found them discussed; but the responses were of no use to me, mostly.
    1. The error message I got that brought me to the edge of a cliff is: "Sorry, a serious error has occurred that require Adobe Premiere Elements to shutdown. We will attempt to save your current project."
    Then it crashed.
When I was taking Operating Systems in my computer science class, a crash means you will get no more than 60 (out of 100). At IBM, a crash is always a SEVerity 1 issue. There is no way around it. Crash means the program is worthless.
I Googled it, and Adobe suggested it could be some drivers using virtual audio. I uninstalled everything I could find, and this problem is not going away. I looked at the sound device configuration, and it's using physical audio, not virtual audio.
I uninstalled Premiere Elements 7 five times and reinstalled them. They still failed. Finally, I reinstalled it at a different location, and it managed to "Found default catalog. Trying to open the  default catalog." Then crashed.
If I wanted to use the default catalog, I would have said so. If I knew where they are, I would have set them on fire.
Anyway, I have a project due this afternoon, and I am stuck with these worthless Adobe Premiere Elements 7 error messages. No wonder Steve Jobs banned Adobe Flash. They are pretty worthless.
Sorry I am so upset, because none of you need to read my frustration; but I am up to my neck with Adobe. Once I get my project done, and I am switching to SONY Vegas.
But, for now, would someone tell me how to get rid of these problems so I can get the video edited? Thank you.

I noticed these errors were reported years ago, and Adobe has done NOTHING to improve it.
Go back to my little list of how problems, crashes and errors sort out. That was how it was way back with Premiere programs, and how it still sorts out.
Even the patch for PrE 8 was mainly to get it functioning with nVidia and ATI graphics cards. Yes, those "fixes" probably straddle the line between Bugs and system, with a nod towards Bugs. I know that Adobe takes their Bugs very seriously, and work overtime trying to find fixes for those, that do exist. Though it took a bit of time, as they gathered info, still Adobe had a patch, and that is rare for PrElements, due to the normal lifespan of that program.
I provide some of the same answers today, that I did years ago, to fix the problems. In nearly every case, things sort out per that list. As "system" is both #1 and is also by far the largest segment of causes, that is where I begin looking. With PC's, there are myriad configurations, and most are not suited for video editing. Too many load up their e-machine and expect to edit HD material. Obviously, that is not the case here, but there could still be equipment incompatibilities, or just some tweaking needed. I see similar in the PrPro forum, as the Mac-users put the program on their MacBook Pros, with one tiny HDD, and a very weak CPU, and things go horribly wrong. If PrE was ported for the Mac, we'd have the same issues here. Usually, my first question will be about the I/O sub-system, i.e. the HDD's, their size, speed, free space, controller type and how they are allocated. Video editing is highly I/O intensive, and most computers are not even close to being able to efficiently handle it. I recommend a minimum of 3x SATA, physical HDD's, and suggest that they be setup to spread the I/O workload over all three. Some manage with a 2x I/O, but that is below MY minimum, and is the real minimum from Adobe. A single HDD I/O is just going to cause bottlenecks, and there is no way around that.
Once, it was more the domain of the PC, that one had system issues, as Mac's were so limited and controlled. Now, as they have gained the ability to expand beyond the absolute control of Apple, those users are finding out that systems DO matter.
Notice #2 - Assets. Not all AV material is meant to be edited. Some, like AVCHD (a consumer format) will require a pro-level computer, just to get smooth playback! The second most common issue is trying to edit material that has something like the Xvid, or DivX CODEC.
Number 3 - Project, is very important too. One must match their Project Preset to their source footage. If not, then there will be problems. The failure to do this match is one of the biggest causes of issues, though usually not crashes, or hangs.
Number 4 - OE, is when a user decides to push a button, and expects something else to happen, and often because that's how it worked in another program. Many argue with me that #2 and #3 are OE too, but I am much more lenient, than they are.
Then, there ARE the Bugs. PrPro CS4 had a bunch. CS4.1 fixed a few, but broke some other things. It was not until CS4.2, that things got corrected, mostly, with that version. Then, CS5 hit, and seems quite good, but has a few Bugs too. Some were left over from CS4. A new update for CS5 is coming, and soon. Will it also fix those lingering Bugs? Only time will tell. Will it be a perfect program? Doubtful, but I'll bet that it'll be a "better" program.
Think back to when you started programming. You were writing apps. for the majority of the install-base. However, what happened if the user had Extended Memory? What happened if they had Expanded Memory? What happened if they had both, and a software manager to handle those? Most still had 640KB. By that time, I had 2GB, though my MoBo could only handle 1GB with the managers. How could you write for me? I was 1:1000000, or maybe even less. I had to do my programming on the fly, and often had boot discs for different programs. It's not that much different now, except that I would not be such a rarity any more, but hardly mainstream.
I'll bet that we can sort much out, by tackling the "Big 3," and then working down, if necessary.
I like doing test Projects, keeping things simple, and testing as we make them more complex. That helps isolate the issues in most cases. In another thread, the poor user says that all Project Presets, all formats and all Export setting yield issues. My first thought is to isolate on one Project Preset, one set of Assets, and see if it's a system issue.
Sometimes it's easy, and that is good, 'cause the user gets to editing and not fritzing so much. Just nailed one in Encore, but the poster gave me all the data necessary, and my memory did not fail me (maybe it was not "wine-thirty yet?). One post, and one correct answer. Life is good. Sometimes, it takes days, and many posts, to narrow things down. In but a few, there is an answer. In those (like the PGC error in Encore) one never does really solve the issue, and the only hope is to get the OP to start over, do everything by the book, and hope for the best, this time around.
Good luck, and be assured - I do feel your pain. If I have not had one of THOSE error messages, believe me, I have read of them too many times.
