Fitting Muse site to screen

We are currently building an Adobe Muse website for a client and while we fit it correctly for our large desktop mac computers/internet explorer, our clients opened up their site in Chrome and the resolution/screen size was out of wack, creating a bottom scroll bar that was not there with the initial design. When our client opened up the site, the pages had this zoomed in effect, is there any way we can have an "automatic fit" so no matter who opens up the website in whatever browser it will size correctly? Is there some kind of option in the page properties or formatting option that we are missing?
Thanks!

It is prefferable that you set the size to something that would not make the visitors have to scroll horizontally to see the different parts of a site, and there may be visitors who operate on smaller resolutions. The optimum width (in which most users would be able to see the site without horizontal scrolling), is 960 px.

  • How do I add a blog to my Muse site?

Is there a widget or something I can throw onto a page and have people post comments?
Or more importantly, can I just allow my customer to post "News" through In-Browser editing? (Do I just throw a text block on a page and title it, "News" and let them add to it)?
What if they wanted to add photos to their "News" or "Blog" page?

You can absolutely insert a blog into your Adobe Muse site. Most instructions for doing this involve creating a WordPress hosted blog, then embedding that into a Muse page with 'Insert HTML', which creates an iframe with your blog inside.
While embedding an existing blog with an iframe within a Muse page works, it isolates the blog's content from being considered in the main site's SEO, since it's pages are not actually on the site's server.
The simplest way, and it's very simple, is to install a WordPress, or any other, blog into a folder in your site named 'blog'. Pick a theme that enables you to mimic your main as closely as you care to. Then create a link in your main site's menu to link to the blog folder. Here's an example...
    http://creativeillusions.biz
You can also use a blank WordPress theme with no header or footer at all - only the blog posts and sidebar(for categories and recent posts, etc.). Use that theme with a locally installed WordPress blog, them embed that blog in an iframe, and you'd have a very functional blog that can perfectly fit your Muse site's theme, since it's header and footer will actually be the ones on your main site. Plus, since it's actually hosted along with your Muse site's files, it's available for the site's SEO.
For SEO purposes, you'll need to add your blog folder manually to your sitemap.xml. This is a bit of a hassle, since you'll need to add the blog's entry into your sitemap.xml each time that you re-upload your site, since that actually writes a new version of the sitemap.xml over the existing one. Still, it's a very simple way to add a blog to your Muse site.

  • Help need to switch Muse site to BC on a allready hosted plan

Hi,  i also posted on BC forum...
I have a client that was in a hurry to have his emails accounts before the entire website.
So i went on and bought the email marketing plan (cos he will also need to do email campains) an pointed his domain everything is working fine, at this moment he has his accounts the domain is live.
The site would be just a small 7-10 pages not to complicated.
Has a graphic designer (who has venture into Business catalyst cos it had all the solutions i needed, well that's what the promotional videos said anyway) I made a site in Muse.
First i did a temporary page thats says "comming soon", and then i made the entire site, all the design and menu but with blank pages cos the client didnt have all the content yet (and still dont have). I uploaded that site to a sub directory so he could see the evolution.
    He approved the design, yay!
At the end of the process, he told me he needed to have full control with the editor. (style, images, bulleted list, need to put downloadable document like pdf etc.) i told him that he could only modify what was allready there with the Muse in Browser editing (that he saw when i made the pitch using another site) he was impress with the way it worked.
so i told him i would have to remake "template".
I thought of using a BC template, and modify the looks to adapt to my client image, Of course, use a responsive theme so he could make the change at one place only. (cos in Muse you need to make the changes on the 3 layouts).
Now, i created a new temporary site using one of the new responsive template available.
How can i import that new site onto his live domain? In other words, how can a switch from a theme made in Muse, to a BC template?
cant i just delete everything in the root folder, and upload the entire new site via ftp?
please help me find the solution. i am a bit in a panic here
hope you could understand my lousy English.
    Sincerely,
    i.d.

This would need to be transparent for m'y client...

    Thanks for additional details.
Unfortunately we cannot change site template of a live site in BC , but as a workaround Create a site from BC using the template you wish to use then publish the site from Muse to the site created from BC and transfer the contents stored from live site to trial site. Ater final transition is done , you can delete the already paid site and make live the new trial site which includes new site template.
    Thanks,
    Sanjit

  • Emails blocked since launching my muse site, help?

Have had my domain site for years, set up as a gmail address, my name at my domain.com
Launched my site through Muse and Business Catalyst
now I am not getting my emails (get them at gmail but the address is my name at my domain)
have tried to do searches and looked at my account managing and can't find help
    thanks for any help!!

Login to your BC site's admin area at http://yourdomain.com/admin and goto Site Settings > Site Domains.  Find your main domain name in that list and look in the columns that says "DNS". Does it say "External" or "This service"?
If it says, "This service" then you've updated your domain's nameservers to point to BC so any old rules you had setup on your domain that set your email to be handled by google are no longer working.  Any rules you had setup before for subdomains or email records (mx records) were not carried over automatically.
I think you are implying that your domain used to use Google Apps for your domain so that you had a gmail hosted on your domain name.  In order to set the domain up right to use Google Apps for email you are going to have to remove your main domain name from BC and add it again.  As long as your domain in BC is using "This service" and not "External" then you should follow these directions.
While logged into BC make note of your secure domain name... it's usually in the format of yoursubdomain.worldsecuresystems.com.. this is the URL we'll use during the following steps because we'll be removing your main domain from BC temporarily and when we do that the Admin area will stop working if you are accessing it from yourdomain.com/admin.  If your primary domain name says "External" in the DNS column then do not follow the directions below.. there are other directions you'll need to follow at yor domain registrar to fix your problem.
Logout of the BC admin area if you are currently logged in using your primary domain name. Login to your BC site at https://yoursubdomain.worldsecuresystems.com (Note the https:// and that it's not http://-- this is a secure URL using SSL).  Once you are logged into your BC site on your secure subdomain, goto Site Settings > Site Domains and find your primary domain name (it's in bold and says: (primary) after it).  Click the delete button in the same row-- it will ask you to confirm the deletion, click OK.  It will now bring up a screen telling you it's also going to delete other DNS records like the "www" subdomain record, etc.  Click OK to delete these records.
Once the primary domain is deleted you'll want to add it back.  Click the New Domain button on the top of the Site Domains screen.  Enter your domain name (without the www) where it says "Domain" and then fill out that form to look like this example:
Be sure to indicate that you want to setup your mail to use Google Apps-- when you setup the domain this way, BC will add the necessary dns entries to route your mail to your google apps email account and also add some important SPF and domainkey records to make sure that when people receive emails from your google apps email address that it's not marked as spam.
Click Save to add your primary domain.  It's going to tell you to update nameservers after you click save but you've already done that if your domain was listed as using "This Service" before we set it up.  Click OK on that dialog to continue.
You aren't done just yet-- it's very likely that you'd setup a subdomain to quickly access your gmail account on the web or the calendar, or google drive and these still aren't enabled yet.  For each subdomain you want to setup to point to Google Apps' services that you were using before you'll need to setup a subdomain CNAME record to point to google. You should have had these setup before moving your domain to BC-- if you hadn't setup these subdomains like "mail.yourdomain.com", "calendar.yourdomain.com", "docs.yourdomain.com" already then you need to set these up in your Google Apps dashboard first and then follow the directions for adding the DNS records on BC for these subdomains-- if you had these setup on Google Apps before, follow these directions below to reinstantiate those subdomains.
For instance, most google apps users setup "mail.yourdomain.com" so that you can quickly login to gmail on the web.  To add this or a similar subdomain to point to bc you now need to add a custom CNAME record.  Click the More Actions button on the Site Domain screen and choose New CNAME record.
Enter "mail" for the subdomain and where it says "points to", use "ghs.google.com." (Note the period at the end... it's important).  Where it says TTL, choose "1 Week".
If you wait a few minutes you should now be able to visit http://mail.yourdomain.com and it will bring you to your gmail.  Follow the same methods for setting up other subdomains like "calendar" and "docs" or "drive"-- whatever you'd had setup before.  You are always going to point the CNAME record to "ghs.google.com."
Let me know if you have any questions and if your site is setup on BC and it is listed as "External" in the DNS column on the Site Domains screen then the directions above don't apply to you and I'll have to point you in another direction.

  • Third Party Hosting Muse Site - 404 Error on Mobile

    Hi guys,
I recently exported my Adobe Muse site files (pixelariumstudio.com), uploaded them into FileZilla, and then uploaded the site to GoDaddy hosting services using FileZilla.
The site looks great on desktops but I receive a 404 error whenever I try to view the site on mobile devices (even tablets). I called GoDaddy thinking it was a problem on their end but after two opinions from two separate calls, I've been informed it's the code of the site itself that is the problem. The funny thing is, when the site was hosted through Adobe, it appeared fine on mobile devices but when the site was moved over to GoDaddy, the 404 error arose.
I'm wondering if Muse writes specific code for displaying a site in mobile browsers that is not recognized by third party hosting services because GoDaddy is not redirecting the site to the mobile view and instead just coming up with a 404 error. If so, is there any way to change the code that Muse writes to display the site on mobile devices so that GoDaddy can recognize it? I've done some research online to see what basic code is used to redirect a site to the mobile view but all I came up with was:
    <meta name="viewport" content="width=device-width, initial-scale=1">
Every guide I find says to place that tag right after the <head> and I do but still no luck getting the website to display on mobile devices. If anyone knows the proper coding to get GoDaddy to display a Muse site on mobile devices, I would forever be in your debt. I'm guessing it's just a couple lines I have to replace but I don't know what lines or with what to replace it. :/ Here is the entire <head> of the website in case this helps find any faulty code:
    <head>
      <script type="text/javascript">
       if(typeof Muse == "undefined") window.Muse = {}; window.Muse.assets = {"required":["jquery-1.8.3.min.js", "museutils.js", "jquery.musemenu.js", "webpro.js", "jquery.watch.js", "jquery.musepolyfill.bgsize.js", "musewpslideshow.js", "jquery.museoverlay.js", "touchswipe.js", "museredirect.js", "jquery.scrolleffects.js", "index.css"], "outOfDate":[]};

Sounds like you haven't uploaded all the files exported by Muse.
Specifically, it looks like you didn't upload the 'phone' folder.
If you use Filezilla or another 3rd party FTP tool, you have to be sure to upload all the files exported by Muse for your site to work correctly.
You can also use the 'Upload to FTP host...' menu item within Muse to upload all the files to your web hosting provider.

  • Using AdRoll in a Muse site

Does anyone know how to add AdRoll's tracking pixels to an Adobe Muse site. They say:
"Our SmartPixel should be placed right before the end body tag </body> in your page’s HTML code or on your website’s HTML template. Placing the pixel properly will ensure accurate data collection and will not negatively affect your page’s load time."
Only we can't see this part of the code in Muse. Can we?
I contacted AdRoll, and their suggestion was to try asking here.
    Thank you.

  • Muse site on BC - URL Redirects list not working

Hello. A Muse site has just gone live on BC host.
The URL redirects don't appear to be working.
Doing a Google  search on 'parkerandassociates.co.nz Amy Williamson' gives a result leading to http://www.parkerandassociates.co.nz/people/amy-williamson/ From the screen grab below the Redirect is showing that this should be working, but in reality the page is not being found. I tried several times to edit the Action and also imported the Import Redirect Urls method and it imported successfully.
My import file was CSV and had one row for consisting of the following columns  Old Url (= /people/amy-williamson/) New URL (/amy-williamson.html)  Enabled (True). I wasn't quite sure what to put in the columns for Enabled, so I put 'True' as shown below. But still the redirection is not working.
Can anybody tell me where I could be going wrong?
    Cheers
    Grant

    Hi Grant Senior,
Update the source of the redirect from /people/amy-williamson/ to /people/amy-williamson/index.html and the URL http://www.parkerandassociates.co.nz/people/amy-williamson/ should then redirect successfully. This is because BC sees the source as a directory and not an actual page.
I have done this for http://www.parkerandassociates.co.nz/people/amy-williamson/ on your behalf, and can confirm that it is now working.
    Cheers.

  • Adding animated html 5 und js from flash into an existing muse site

    Hi Guys,
i have a problem adding an animated flash content to a muse site.
I have done an animation in flash und published it as a html 5 and a js file. fine!
The next step i do is placing/or importing the html in muse.
but how to put the js within a script tag, and the image i used in flash into my muse site?
    1. issue: when i combine both scripts (html and js in one script) it does not work/the animation does not work.
    2. issue: when i add the js into the page properties html head section it also doesnt work..
so where is the problem? or how can i insert the js correctly? should i also upload the image file? where to upload the image file?
I need this for an ongoing project!
    Thanks

This is a reply to my own message. A work around that will allow our team to move forward is to make a screen capture of a screen capture. We have content experts who are equipped with Camtasia. These folks will make their narrated movies. I'll then capture their movies with Captivate's screen capture by following: Insert > Recording Slide. Google Chrome of course has the Flash player installed by default so I open the mp4 (M4V) or FLV movie via Chrome and use Captivate's Recording Slide, choose Video Demo option. This gets me a Camtasia screen capture into Captivate. Import audio on its own and it matches up with my test of a movie 1 minute long (longer videos might slip out of sync - will test this).
However, the movie does not have the convenient playbar attached, so video navigation/control can be gained via a Captivate playbar for the slide itself. This offers a double set of navigation options b/c I also created my own set of navigation controls with Flash, but with a simple set of instructions users will know to use bottom playbar for video control and my flash buttons for slide navigation. Its a bit clunky, but this is what I have for now until the engineers have time to target the following:

PS I'm sure a simple javascript code could fix this, but for me javascript isn't so easy;)

  • How do I add an already built Shopping Cart  (PHP and MYSQL) application to a page in a Muse site?

How do I add an already built Shopping Cart  (PHP and MYSQL) (Cartweaver 4) application to a page in a Muse site? Do I have to export the Muse site as Html to dreamweaver and them use the extension to bring the shooping cart in or can I do it directly in Muse?
    Message was edited by: mgv2048

We have experimented with doing this with some good success. We have been working on adding Cartweaver to a Facebook page by essentially adding a Cartweaver store to Facebook in an iframe.  The "store" would be pages with just your basic product display, cart, and checkout functionality, with none of the "window dressing" - just use CSS to match the color and general look of the design it's being added to.
The one problem with this for Facebook is when it comes time to check out toy have to leave Facebook and go to your server where an SSL is in place.  Fortunately in this situation this would not be the case, you can have an SSL installed to the root of your site and you'll be okay.
This is an interesting project.  Give this a try and let me know how it goes and if you run into any snags, please make a post on the Cartweaver forums: http://forums.cartweaver.com - I'm really confident that this can work, and not only work, but work well.
Looking forward to hearing how this goes, and being of what help we can.

I'm trying to add Google's new Universal Analytics code (.js code) to my muse site. I've added the js code into the Master page that every page uses but that doesn't seem to work. Hi,
There are multiple ways in which you can add the HTML code to your site. Few methods are :-
    1) Copy your HTML code, In Muse -> Select Objects-> Insert HTML . Paste your HTML code on the page.  Please reer to this screenshot :- http://prntscr.com/52vprn

  • How do I add cookies to adobe muse site?

    Hello,
I am creating a site in Adobe Muse, which I also host through the webbasic adobe business catalyst account.
I want to add a cookies message onto my site and to that of client sites that I create.
I searched the forum and there appears to be a guide showing how to get the cookies set up in adobe business catalyst itself. However, when I try to follow the instructions, I fall at the first hurdle because it tells me to go into Site Manager and then into Pages. However, I don't have anything that says Pages. Mine only has two options; Web Forms and System Emails. The only thing in the Web Forms folder is Contact Form.
I have no idea how to get the cookies message onto my Adobe Muse site. Please...does anyone know the answer?
Also, if someone from Adobe reads this, it would be great if Adobe Muse had a widget for this...considering it is now a requirement for all websites that use cookies to be able to get consent. I hope it's in the next update.
    Cheers
    Sebastian

Refer to this thread for instructions on adding a Manage cookies form - http://forums.adobe.com/message/539301
The online content editing is disabled by default for sites published through Muse to BC and hence the Pages tab doesn't appear for you under Site Manager. However, you can always enable the Online Content editing feature by logging into the site admin -> going to the My Details section (by hovering over your name at the top right) and enable the option as indicated in the screenshot below.
Please refer to the following post for a reason as to why the option is incompatible with Muse (but doesn't affect any functionality as such if you enable it).
