Fitting photos on an a4 page

Im such a noob lol. I took some photos with a pretty good camera and opened them in illustrator and there pretty big, i need them to fit on an a4 page perfectly. I tried scaleing them down but it wasnt qwite the right size of the page. how can i get these images to fit into the document size? thanks

Illustrator is not the most appropriate program for working with raster images, such as the .jpg files from your camera. If all you want to do is print one to a specific size, Illustrator will do, but I would still use Photoshop.
Here’s what happened. Your camera took a high resolution photo that was recorded entirely as pixels. When Illustrator tried to open this file it either found that the resolution in the image was stored at 72 pixels per inch or that there was no resolution data so it defaulted to 72 pixels per inch. That resulted in a very large image.
You have probably tried to scale the image down using the corner handles or possible the Scale tool. If all you want is a specific width or height, then just enter that value in the Width or Height field in the Control panel at the top of the screen. After entering one value, press Command-Enter (Mac) or Control-Enter (Windows) to scale the image proportionally. Without the Control/Command modifier you only change the value you entered, making the picture scale in only one direction.
Thy the above, and come back if you have more questions.

  • Fitting photos and sizing the page.

    This is probably my 100th most stupid question but here goes........ Everytime I add more than a few pictures they disappear. Another words the layout of the page only allows a few pictures. It is very frustrating. What am I doing wrong?
    Thanks

    More details are needed about what you are doing & seeing on the screen...
    "Everytime I add more than a few pictures..." - How are you adding the pictures? Drag & drop from iWeb's Media Browser? Or how?
    "...they disappear." - At what point exactly do they disappear? Right when you drop them into the page, or when you re-open iWeb later?
    Any extra info you can provide will help forum readers to help you.

  • Can't print more than one photo on the same page

    Is there a lay-out option so I can print four 3X5 photos on the same page? iOS 10.9.3

    Yes.  In the Print window select the Custom layout and in the print size select Custom, 3 x 5.  That will give you this:
    It it doesn't show a fit the first time toggle the reverse button that't to the right of 3 in the screenshot.  That should get it to snap to four per page.

  • Can you print more than one photo on a sngle page in iPhoto, as you can in Picasa?

    iPhoto printing--
    Can you print more than one photo on a single page in iPhoto, as you can in Picasa? Terrible waste of paper and time to do it one at a time!  I 've been away from Macs for several years ( I know, shame on me) but I thought I remembered more printing flexibility.  Help, anyone?

    Yes - select the photos and print - select the print size and paper size (be sure they will fit with some small borders) and click customize - in settings select multiple photos per page (the preview will reflect this selection) and print

  • Iphoto Books: How to Enable "fit photo to frame size" when theme grays it out by default

    Don't know if this has been posted before or not, but I've been using the "Modern" Theme in iPhoto books and trying for the life of me to figure out how to get my photos to not crop while they're in a single-photo framed layout (I'm not using 4:3 photos; mine are 8.5" by 11"). Even fully zoomed out my photos cut off at the top and bottom. I knew about the "fit photo to frame size" option but the theme had it greyed out--except for on one page, in which it was already enabled. So I must have done it before without paying attention, but it took forever to figure out how to do it again.
    Here's how:
    1. Open up the page you want to modify. I'm assuming here that your photos are already placed, but if not, place the photo you want to use.
    2. Click the Layout tab.
    3. Change the layout to the single page full bleed option--no frame. Your photo should now be blown up across the page.
    4. Right click the photo. The "fit photo to frame size" option should now be available for you to check off. Go ahead and activate it.
    5. Change the layout back to the single photo framed option. Your photo will now fit inside the frame, although to truly see the whole thing you have to open up the Options tab and select the borderless option.
    To save time in steps 1-3, and step 5, you can also change the layout of all your pages at once by clicking page 1 (not the cover, the next page), then opening the Layout tab, then selecting the layout you want. You still have select the "fit photo to frame size" individually for each photo.
    Hope this is useful for people.

    There is an option for the Initial View that is "Magnification:" "Fit Page".  And this works for the initial page when the PDF is opened and it does not matter what the page size it, Acrobat/Reader will automatically fill the screen with the page. If you want the zoom type to change with each page then you need  add a page open script to each page to set the pages zoom type to "zoomtype.fitP"
    this.zoomType = zoomtype.fitP;

    Control (right) - click on the photo in the frame and select Fit to Frame Size in the contextual menu.

  • Fit photo to calendar layout?

    Attempting to fit a photo in its full length to a page on my apple calender - in the past there has been an option to 'fit to page' but this seems to have gone - any ideas on how to now get picture to fit in full to a page?

    What is your iPhoto version?
    In iPhoto 9.5.1 the option is in the contextual menu:
    View the calendar page in "Layout" mode, ctrl-click or right-click the photo, then select "Fit photo to frame size".
    I tested this with the "Photos" calendar theme.

  • How do I combine text and photos on the same page in iPhoto using photobook

    How do I combine text and photos on the same page in iPhoto using photobook?

    You mean while creating a book in iPhoto?  Click on the layout button while viewing a page and select the layout that includes both text and photos.  Most themes will have those options.

  • Is there any reason photos in an album page display small on the iPad, but normally on an iMac? And videos on a movies page don't play on the iPad, but are OK on the iMac?

    Is there any reason photos in an album page created in iweb display small on the iPad, but normally on an iMac? And videos on a movies page don't play on the iPad, but are OK on the iMac?

    there are three displays in photos page:
    1) thumbnails grid - smallest
    2) deatial view and detail view slideshow - large
    3a) pop-up slideshow - vary - this is slideshow.html
    3b) or iphone/ipad slideshow phoneshow.html - iphone/ipad can't do pop-up
    it's difficult to know which you refer to.
    if you refer to pop-up slideshow then you should not look into iwebmediagrid.js as wyodor suggested.
    instead look in phoneshow.html and change width and heigth of element id slideshow:
    #slideshow {
    position: relative;
    width: 320px; /* this is default width */
    height: 360px; /* this is default height */
    margin-left: auto;
    margin-right: auto;
    overflow: hidden;

  • What's a good app to use to put two photos on a single page like Windows Paint?

    I have a OSX Lion with an iPhoto app. I would like to put two photos on a single page like Windows Paint. What's a good app for this? Is there a Windows Paint app for Mac or something similar?

    You can print two photos on a single page with iPhoto, you can put two photos on a single page with Pages, Word or any word processor. Or are you trying to edit two photos together?
    In order of price here are some suggestions:
    Seashore (free)
    The Gimp (free)
    Graphic Coverter ($45 approx)
    Acorn ($50 approx)
    Pixelmator ($50 approx)
    Photoshop Elements ($75 approx)
    There are many, many other options. Search on MacUpdate. You can set Photoshop (or any image editor) as an external editor in iPhoto. (Preferences -> General -> Edit Photo: Choose from the Drop Down Menu.) This way, when you double click a pic to edit in iPhoto it will open automatically in Photoshop or your Image Editor, and when you save it it's sent back to iPhoto automatically. This is the only way that edits made in another application will be displayed in iPhoto.

  • How do I make a photo span two facing pages?

    I'm doing a magazine layout in Pages '08 and have run into a problem I haven't been able to solve to my satisfaction. I want a photo (or any type of graphic) to be able to span across two facing pages. As soon as I drag the handles on the photo over past the center border between two facing pages, the part of the photo dragged to the second page disappears. I've tried bringing it to the front, duplicating the photo and placing one on one page and the second on the other, then nudging them together, but this is a really poor solution. Has anyone been able to place a photo across two facing pages? If so, how'd you do it?

    Pages has never allowed an image to span a page gap. You can see how I've done it in this post.
    If we expect this to change in any future versions of Pages, we need to leave feedback for the Pages team.

  • Blocking the ability to download a photo from a web page using iWeb

    You guys have been so helpful about helping me make video files and music tracks unavailable for downloading from my site by altering the javascript code on my iDisc. Now I have another problem.
    The photo/pictures placeholders in iWeb permit me to place photos on my web pages. Is there a way to alter the code so that the option to drag-copy or download the picture from my site can be disabled?
    Thanks for your help!

    Here are some variations that make messing with strings easier.
    $LocalPage ='\\server\share\sam1.html'
    # build URI
    $template= 'https://server/reports/116/output/?start-year={0}&start-month={1}&start-day={2}&days=1&company-code=1'
    $d=[datetime]::Today.AddDays(-1)
    $uri=$template -f ($d.Year-2000),$d.Month,$d.Day
    (Invoke-WebRequest -Uri $uri).Content | Out-File -FilePath $LocalPage -Force
    & $LocalPage
    ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

  • Photos on front blog page

    Hi. I know that in my blog, I have a choice in the inspector as to how many lines show up on the main blog page -- none or all of them. But what I can't figure out is it I can also show the photo(s) in the entry(ies) without making a person click on "read more."
    If you look at sites at blogger.com, you can just see everything without ever clicking, unless of course if you want to leave a comment.
    Just wondering if this functionality is somewhere and I missed it.
    Thanks a lot.

    I'm a beginner and have a photo on front blog page but nothing added to either 'entries' or 'archive'. Can't I just publish a blog page plus several photo pages without having to create 'entries' and 'archive' pages? Trying to make things simple for my first Web page. (Not using .Mac)
