Quit Calendar if it's running. Triple-click the line below to select it:
~/Library/Calendars
Right-click or control-click the highlighted line and select Services ▹ Reveal. A Finder window should open with a folder selected. Move the selected folder to the Desktop, leaving the window open.
Try again to sign out of iCloud. If you're successful, put the folder you moved back where it was. Launch Calendar and unsubscribe from any calendars that are not based in iCloud. You can add them back later, but make sure you don't synchronize them to iCloud.

  • File opening hang in lion 10.7.2

    I'm using a new mac book pro ( MD318 ) .
recently I had a problem with file opening in finder. after I am trying to open the folder in finder , it hangs and I have to wait about 1~2 minutes for opening the folder.
    I followed this http://www.macworld.com/article/163227/2011/10/fix_a_lion_file_opening_hang_in_m ac_os_x_10_7_2.htmlhttp://www.macworld.com/article/163227/2011/10/fix_a_lion_file_opening_hang_in_m ac_os_x_10_7_2.html but it didn't help me.
and yes I created a new user and delete my current user .  the problem is still there
for the records I repaired my disk permission via disk utility and still the problem didn't fixed.
there isn't any problem in browsing folders in "my computer" in windows, so I guess there is not a hardware problem.
    any Idea ?

While booted in Safe Mode, did the Finder crash?
    1. If no, do this in Terminal:
    rm ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.finder.plist
    2. If yes, remove any non-Apple files from
    /Library/LaunchDaemons
(move them to your Desktop so that you can put them back later if it doesn't solve the problem)
    3. In either case, after doing either 1 or 2 above, restart the mac and test.

  • File opening hangs in Photoshop

    Hi,
I recently purchased a Design starter Kit for mobiles from another author. The problem is when I open the file the PSD file first flickers and on the History panel shows 4 Layers -one it shows Open and then it shows Delete layer, Delete Layer and then it hangs it says photshop not responding I waited for 15 min and still didnt open. Other PSD files opens in my machine but only this file no matter even after the author revised and saved the file in CS3 format.
This particular file has lot of groups and layers - Is this is the reason for not opening??
    I have
Dell XPS - ATI Radeon accerlator card _ 4 GB Ram Windows 7 OS and Photoshop CS 4 all originals
The author is using Mac machine - Using Photoshop CS5 version
Can anyone give me some clue why this happening?

    What model Radeon?
Check for a new display driver on the ATI website.  Sometimes specific documents will exercise the display driver in ways not seen in other documents.

  • How to Fix This? Files open by default at smallest percentage

Never had this issue in previous versions of Photoshop. Just upgraded to CS6 and played with a few of the Preferences.
For some reason, all files open at the smallest percentage possible (as small as <1%). Anyone know how to set a default open size, or if I managed to check a box that made this happen? It's really annoying to zoom in on every document that I open.
    - Tim

No doubt you're on a Mac and have sized the bottom of the application Frame up as high as it will go, to try to emulate the way it looked in the last version you had.
Try making the window tall again, then eliminating the Application Frame the proper way, by choosing Windows - Application Frame (i.e., uncheck it).
That should fix it for you.

  • Is there a way a PC version of InDesign file open in the MAC version InDesign?

I have a PC version file that I'd like to open in a Mac Book Pro.  But not sure if it is doable.  Thanks.

InDesign files are platform agnostic, but not backward compatible with earlier versions, so as long as you have the same or later version on the Mac it should be fine. There's usually no problem with fonts, either, going from PC to Mac, since both OTF and Windows TT fonts are cross-platform compatible.

  • Why won't some .jar files open of my mac

It is a MacBook Pro 15inch core duo from late 2008. It is running what ever software it came with. It opens a select few .jar files but the majority it will not open.
I would like to solve this without having to update the software, so if you thibk you have a solution please share it.

Most likely because the jar file was created using a later version of Java than you have on your system. So, you need to bring your version of Java up to date.

  • Opening Illustrator from Mac to PC

Okay I was wondering if i can open an illustrator document in a pc???I was working my document in Illustrator cs and saved it eps file. So if i'm able to work on it in a pc, will there be a problem if i try to opened in a mac after saving my work in a pc. So basically work on mac then on Pc then back on a mac. is that possible? Will my file open on a mac? or will it get corrupted?

Probably your questions are better answered in an Illustrator forum rather than here in a Mac/Windows forum. Adobe's website would be an excellent place to continue your research.
I can say with a reasonable amount of confidence that fonts will probably be your biggest issue. While you may have "Arial" on both your Mac and Windows systems, they may not be identical versions; the metrics for each version may be different because they're from different foundaries or they were produced at different times. This may produce different kerning and lines of text may wrap differently. (While I don't have any experience with OpenType, you should look at this as an option. The same OT font files can be used on both Macs and Windows.)
As far as the files themselves are concerned, you'll find that a "CS" file on Mac is almost (if not exactly) the same as a "CS" file on Windows. You may run into some issues if your versions of Illustrator vary (say from CS on Mac to CS2 on Windows).
    Hope this helps! bill

  • How to open a zip file of photos on Mac Book Pro when it cannot find or fix alias

I do a home photo editing business.  One of a my clients sent me a disc that she zipped to compress because there were a lot of pictures on it.  When I try to open it on my Mac Book Pro I keep getting an error message that it cannot find alias and what program do I want to use to open it.  It also gives me an option to "fix alias" but it doesn't seem to work.  What am I doing wrong?  Why can't I open zip files on my Mac Book Pro?  I should probably mention that the client also uses a Mac Book Pro and her pictures were in her iPhoto before she zipped them on a disc.
    Thanks for your help!!!

I did copy it to my desktop, but it still won't let me open it.  I think the file on the disc might be corrupt or something like that though the cd itself checks out fine as far as viruses go.  I was able to verify the disc, but that's about it.  My husband tried it on his iMac and we have the same issue.  It's unzipping the folder, but won't let us open the folder on both the Mac Book Pro or the iMac by double clicking, going to file/open or right clicking.  It just keeps saying the same message as I posted above.  I think I'm just going to have the client put the pictures on either a memory card or a USB memory stick so she won't have to compress the files for zipping purposes.  It's been too frustrating trying to open this folder on this cd she gave me.  She said she created/zipped the cd on her Mac Book Pro but it sure won't open on mine.

  • Why can't I open and retrieve my files from iPhoto and my address book after importing the files from my Power mac G5 to my new Mac Pro? I get a warning that says the new OS on my Pro doesn't open files from a Power Mac. Any idea how I can fix this?

For your addressbook, export the files to vCard on the PowerMac, then bring them over to your Mac Pro. For your iPhoto, copy the Users -> yourname -> Pictures folder to your Desktop on the Mac Pro, and open iPhoto on the Mac Pro holding the command and option keys.  Select the library file from that Pictures folder and open it.  It should import all the pictures into iPhoto as part of the rebuild process.  Other PowerPC to Intel migration issues are covered here: https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-2295

  • IWeb hanging; No iWeb plist files; how to fix in Lion?

I updated to LION (yes, big mistake) and now iWeb hangs within 2 sec. of opening the program. I went looking for iWeb.plist files to delete, but do not have any in my Preferences folder. How do I get iWeb to not hang upon opening and work again, in the interim? Please help.

In Lion the Library folder is now invisible. To make it permanently visible enter the following in the Terminal application window: chflags nohidden ~/Library and hit the Enter button - 10.7: Un-hide the User Library folder.
For opening your domain file in Lion or to switch between multiple domain files Cyclosaurus has provided us with the following script that you can make into an Applescript application with Script Editor. Open Script Editor, copy and paste the script below into Script Editor's window and save as an application.
Just launch the application, find and select the domain file you want to open and it will open with iWeb. It modifies the iWeb preference file each time it's launched so one can switch between domain files.
do shell script "/usr/bin/defaults write com.apple.iWeb iWebDefaultsDocumentPath -boolean no"delay 1
    tell application "iWeb" to activate
You can download an already compiled version with this link: iWeb Switch Domain.
WARNING: iWeb Switch Domain will overwrite an existing Domain.sites2 file if you select to create a new domain in the same folder.  So rename your domain files once they've been created to something other than the default name.

  • Mac hangs on file open, Mac hangs on file open

I am using Stata, a statistical analysis program.  Recently, when I try to open a file, using File Open, the program hangs and I have to force it to quit.  I can open files easily if I use Recent files.  When the file gets open, I can do everything I should be able to do with the program.  Analysis, graphics, etc.  It is JUST when I do File Open that it hangs, and it seems to be ONLY with Stata.
    Any suggestions?
    Don

    Hi Don,
    I don't have it, but...
To find out if it's system wide or user specific, try this...
Open System Preferences>Accounts, unlock the lock, click on the little plus icon, make a new admin account, log out & into the new account.
Does Stata work in the new account?

  • Corrupt Data File Quicken 2007 for Mac (Lion)

Bought QM 2007 for Mac (Lion compatible) and without touching my personal data file, opened a new file and immediately got the "...corrupt data in data file" message. I've tried everything I could find including: trashing the Quotes file, my old Quicken 2006 app, removing any 3vix files, intuit preferences, etc. Nothing helped. I then ran QM2007 on Snow Leopard with my old data file, and after trashing the Quotes file, it worked. So I saved this file and transfered it to my Lion machine, trashed the quotes file. Same error, ...data corrupted. Thinking it's my Lion machine, I opened it in Safe mode...no help. Created a new account...no help. Imported .qif file..no help. I've searched the Quicken forum...no help. I'm very desparate; anyone have any ideas?
Mac OS X 10.7.5, Mac Pro (2012), Quicken 2007 for Mac (Lion) 16.1.4.

Thanks, Baltwo. I'm convinced it's something about my Lion installation that's the cause, since others as yourself seem to be OK—although I haven't been able to run it down. The Quicken 2007 is a fresh installation, each time I try out a new approach, I reinstall the software. Now perhaps it's accumulating some ancillary file that doesn't get trashed, but I can't run that down. I did find something interesting in my systematic search for a cause, and that is that when i install it on my Snow Leopard machine, it works fine with a new, unpopulated data file. But if I re-index my Q 2006 file, trash my Quotes file, then import it into QM 2007, the "corrupt data error" comes up. So I know everything (the QM 2007-Lion) works in Snow Leopard without prior re-indexing the data file, just not in Lion. So I saved my data file that worked in the Snow Leopard version (so it's now a QM 2007-Lion file), try to open it on my Lion machine with a new QM 2007-Lion install, and the corrupt data error appears. As I said above, opening in Safe mode, creating a new account, running my disk through Disk Utility and fixing permissions, nothing has worked so far.
So I bit the bullet and created a Snow Leopard virtual machine (Server version) with my Parallels, and it finally works, including downloading my investment, credit card, etc. accounts. Now I can move on with my taxes, but I'm still perplexed why Lion won't let me run it. I don't like my SL VM because Parallels won't permit coherence, so it's kind of kludgy.
That's my story after many hours of troubleshooting. I hope this helps someone else with the same problem. Thanks for trying to help.

Generally when creating a Word file from either a Mac or Win7 pc and opening it on two different machines (either one first) it always prompts that the file is open and will be opened as read only.
However opening a CSS file does not prompt that it is already open on or from any machine which is causing code edits to be lost.
What we found from out testing:
    - The file can be saved from one user to the server and WILL NOT PROMPT on other machines until the saving machine has the Dreamweaver program closed completely
    - The file can be closed and  Dreamweaver minimised to the launch bar but it still will not register on other machines that it has been changed.
    - Also, until the  Dreamweaver program is closed on the machines, it will continue to open it's saved version of the file.
    Example Scenario:
    - User 1 opens test.css (which is 2000 lines) and adds some code to the end of the file to bring it up to 2500 lines
    - Meanwhile User 2 opens test.css as well (opens as 2000 lines as User 1’s edits have not yet been saved) and adds in code to bring it to 2300 lines
    - User 1 saves his file and closes it - but  Dreamweaver is still open.
    - User 2 also saves his file and leaves  Dreamweaver  open.
    - The server will report the size and last edit of the file the same as User 2 as he was the last person to save it (and if you open from the Win7 Machine it will show as User 2’s 2300 line version)
    - If User 1 then open's the file again (from either the 'recent' in Dreamweaver OR clicking on the file directly in Finder...which version opens.... The version that User 1 saved! Not the true version on the server, but the version that User 1 edited and saved with 2500 lines in it.
    - Same for User 2, he will open 'his' version with 2300 lines in.
    Other information:
    - Files are opened directly from the server
    - Sometimes the users will save incrementally and re-open
    - Most of the time users will save incrementally and keep the files open
    - The users will never not save incrementally and just save when closing the file once finished
    - The users are usually working on the files all day
    - It is always the bottom lines of code that are lost. It could be a case of the two versions being mixed up and cutting off the newly added lines based on the line count (possibly).
It is as if Dreamweaver is holding a cache of the version locally and then only properly looking back to the server when it has been completely closed. It is very difficult to see how the server is causing such an impact on these files, there are very few logs which are giving any indication to the root cause of the problems.
Anyone know if this is a known issue?
Is there a way that there can be a featured implemented on the server that doesn't allow another user to open a file if it is already open on another machine?
    Thanks

Your server file handling has nothing, and really nothing to do with Adobe software. If files don't get locked for (over-)writing and/or lose connection to the program opening them, then your server is misconfigured. It's as plain and simple and that. Anything from "known file types"/ file associations not being set correctly, MIME types being botched, crooked user privileges and file permissions, missing Mac server extensions, delayed file writing on the server, generic network timeout issues and what have you. Either way, you have written a longwinded post with no real value since you haven't bothered to provide any proper technical info, most notably about the alleged server. Either way, the only way you can "fix" it is by straightening out your server and network configuration, not some magic switch in Adobe's software.
