Fix after IPhone 5.0.1 Update

If you installed this update and now your phone isn't working (just has Apple Logo) or it's not showing your phone on ITunes or it's only showing 2 things you can do on ITunes (back-up or setup new phone) this is what I did to fix it after my phone went through all these things.
(1) If you installed this update and came up with an error and now your phone is just showing the Apple Logo you need to do a recovery. At least after that you will have a working phone with all your contacts. To do this hold the power and home buttons at the same time untill your phone restarts. It will show something about plugging your phone up to ITunes. You think your getting somewhere but it's only started.
(2) After you plug your phone into ITunes it will not reconize your phone or it will only have 2 options. Restore from backup or install as new phone. Backup does nothing but bring you back to the same screen and set up as new you will lose all your music and apps. (I didn't want to take a chance on setup as a new phone, scary stuff)
(3) HERE'S THE FIX...This worked for me. If you have another computer, (if this will work on the same computer I don't know, I have another one with ITunes for backup just in case) set up another ITunes account under the same user for your phone. You don't need to have anything there (like music or apps) just an account so you can sync your phone. After it syncs plug your phone back into the computer with your original ITunes account with all your music and apps. and viola, all your stuff is there and works. Just re-sync (it will say something like this phone was synced from another computer, do you want to sync from this one) YES...
Your phone is now back like it was and ITunes works once again...
Hope this helps

If you know someone with a computer that will let you put your ITunes account on just long enough to sync your phone. Just create a restore point before you do so after you can totally delete it with a system restore...Not a big thing

    Hi Samantha,
Are you aware that if you restore your ipad that you will lose all data from your ipad and very difficult to get it back unless you had previously made a back-up of your data on itunes or in the cloud. and that would be on the computer you set those up on. (There are some independent apps out there that might help restore data but I don't have any experience with them...)
Also, I think if you restore on another computer you're supposed to have administrator rights and have the latest itunes update. And I think if you sync (if restoring is considered syncing with another computer, you'll be locked out of your computer or a new one.)
I don't know if there is a way for you to safely eject your ipad from your mom's laptop and find another way, but please read this
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1275
Also, I suggest you start a new post and title it something like First, stuck on update and now on Restore on another computer. Please HELP! And then tell the story of your problem that you originally included and your follow-up efforts to restore given a suggestion on previous post (though I think you SHOULD AVOID RSTORE if you can.) And refer them to your original post

Hope this helps and if you can get back to your ios before the upgrade, stay with it. I hope it all works out for you.
FYI - If it's a new or refurb bought within the past year you might be able to have it replaced by Apple.

  • How I fixed my iPhone and got the update to work...

This sounds silly, but I just kept un-docking my iPhone and then re-docking it. If the error message came up, I clicked "OK" and did it over again. After about the eighth try, it went through and my iPhone is now updated. Hope this helps.

I talked to AT&T support. They say that the Apple activation servers are down. Should be fixed "within an hour".
So much for the stupid activation scheme via iTunes . There doesn't even appear a backup to do the activation over the phone.
Apple seems to have a bad week.

  • All Mail Crashed after IPHONE 2.0.1 update

I have the old Iphone --pre 3G. I tried to send an email yesterday, after having run the 2.0.1 update. First I got the (connection to outgoing server "smtpout.secureserver" failed). Then after multiple retries, the mail in my inbox disappeared. Instead there is a msg. "Load More Messages.." When you click on that, nothing happens.
The mail worked fine, prior to this update. The settings have not changed. Help

    Good Morning:
I couldn't wait until this afternoon to try to do a reinstall. I woke up this morning and thought of something which I completely forgot about last night - I have a 2nd computer with iTunes on it!
So - I updated to the latest version of iTunes on computer 2 this morning and performed a restore on my iPhone and it WORKED! It did update to the 2.0.1 while doing the restore.
I then unpluged the iPhone when it completed and moved it to computer 1 and wanted to perform a backup, but it immediatly backed up my fresh iPhone update which appears to have erased the backup with all my info. NO PROBLEM though, I simply checked all the items I wanted to sync and it's now updating and when done I'll have to change a few things on my iPhone again. But, I have my phone today!
I'm still going to uninstall iTunes later today and reinstall. I have my wife's iPhone to update to the 2.0.1 software. So, this will be a good test. We will see what happens. I will post the results.

if yes then how can i save my data or get out of recovery mode.. Is there any safe mode or something like that on which i could access my data..
P.S. I have not taken any backup of my iPhone on itunes..
Please help me sort out this issue..

Recovery mode doesn't mean that all your data is already lost. You only lose your data if you restore it.
When you plug the phone is into iTunes hold down the home button. iTunes may then give you the option JUST to update the software first. This should not get rid of any data.
However, if iTunes is only giving you the option to RESTORE and update, then you will lose your data I'm afraid.
    Hope that helps!

  • I'm unable to sync my contacts with the new iPhone 5 and my 2012 Hyundai Santa Fe. Will there be a fix for this in the next update?

I previously had an iPhone 4 synced and paired with my 2012 Hyundai Santa Fe and had no issues. Now I have a new iPhone 5 and am able to sync the phone but the contacts will not update in the phone book listing for the vehicle. I've tried several times to re-sync and pair the phone to the vehicle and still the same issue. I'm able to make an receive calls but no contact information is being displayed. From all of the previous community issues reported it's not an AT&T issue, Hyundai issue, it's clearly pointing at the device (iPhone 5) being the issue.
Will there be a fix for this in the next update?
    Thank you.

Thanks for your response. However, after speaking with a level 2 Apple Advisor and Hyundai there is an issue that both companies are aware of and are working towards a resolution. Here's a blurb from Hyundai that was sent to me after I spoke with Apple Advisor:
"We apologize for any inconvenience associated with the technical issues with devices connected via Bluetooth. Hyundai is aware of the iPhone losing its Bluetooth connection to the vehicle along with any function associated with it at the time. Hyundai has been able to reproduce the concern in our test vehicles and have sent all necessary information to Apple engineers. Hyundai received confirmation from Apple that they will work on debugging.
If your iPhone is 3G, 4, 4S, 5 and has one of the following iOS: 6.0, 6.1.0, 6.1.1, 6.1.2, 6.1.3, 6.1.4 or higher, you may be affected." - Hyundai Engineering

  • My ical won't sync with iPhone 4 after IOS 6.0.1 update

My ical won't sync with iPhone 4 after IOS 6.0.1 update. The "sync calendars" option is no longer available after I installed this update. Any ideas???I have tried a few times to sync, and nothing has changed on my calendars. I have had so many troubles with this update. Grrr...

I tried the same but it did not worked. But, i got a solution. I accessed gmail on my laptop. Went to gmail settings. There is a option to add a device. A iPhone was already listed. I clicked Revoke to remove it. Then i clicked add new device and gave it iPhone name and a new 16-20 character password was geenrated. I used it to configure gmail on my Iphone and it worked beautifully. So glad i have been able to fix this. That password is a one time password to authenticate that device.

So you are saying that you followed all of the steps in the support document for problems with connection, including removing and reinstalling iTunes? You do not say what you have tried, so it is hard to make recommendations. If this is the case, then you have tried resolving driver issues? What if you go to Device Manager and look for the iPhone. You should be able to click on it and see about drivers. You can update/reinstall the device driver.

hi, my iPhone is already completely updated and I want my iMessages to go to my phone number, however my phone number shows up on the settings screen for that, but will not let me select it to be used. How do I fix that?

Thanks to all who responded. You are all absolutely correct. However, this Ipad was a gift to my wife who was dying of cancer in the hospital and wanted some entertainment. So I started it out with her Apple ID. After she passed away I moved from Sacramento to Austin and eventually proceeded to get the Apple ID changed from my wife's to mine. Meanwhile when she was in the hospital I opened an Itunes account in my name to buy movies for her. That was the first mistake.
Then during the move to Austin I lost track of the IPAD and later found it and tried to use support but could not remember the proper ID. Later the folks at the Apple store helped me create a new and novel Apple ID that was unfortunately unlike any other.
The botom line is that I am stuck with three Apple IDs and three passwords. I am told by Apple there is nothing they can do about this as IDs cannot be changed or destroyed. I can quit using them or start a new account but when I try to do that the system keeps remembering too many things from the past and resists.
Even if I sold this Ipad and bought a new one, the system memory is still there.
I think the real problem is that destop and laptop computers are totally owned by an individual and that individual can control logins and passwords to his liking. IPADs and similar Apple products are different in that the corporation has built in their own intrusion detection schemes because of the relation to Itunes.
One thing I thought about is to open a new Itunes account pretendding to be a new customer with my regular Apple ID. Perhaps I could do the same with Apple Support.
    Thanks for your comments.

  • Stuck Pixels after Installing iPhone 2.0.1 Update

Has anyone else noticed any new stuck pixels after installing the iPhone 2.0.1 update?
As you can see in the image linked to below, my 8GB iPhone 3G began displaying a stuck pixel in the upper-left immediately after installing the 2.0.1 update. At first, I figured that this was an average stuck pixel that coincidentally appeared immediately after applying the 2.0.1 update. However, after further examination, I don’t think that this is a normal stuck pixel.
    http://skitch.com/macmanx/1igt/stuck-pixel
A few hours later, my mother updated her 8GB 1st gen iPhone, and as you can see in the image linked to below, she now has a vertical line of stuck pixels in the same region as mine. Since her stuck pixels also appeared immediately after installing the 2.0.1 update, I’m beginning to think that my stuck pixel may not be an isolated issue.
    http://skitch.com/macmanx/1i88/stuck-pixels
I have tried to restore both iPhones, adjust the brightness, apply light pressure to the stuck pixels, and run the Knox Pixel Fix for iPhone. Neither method worked. To further complicate the issue, the stuck pixels appear to flicker when viewed through the LCD screen of my digital camera.
Stuck pixels are (as the name implies) stuck, they do not flicker. This, added to the fact that the issue occurred immediately after applying the 2.0.1 update, leads me to believe that this may actually be a software issue, possibly involving a conflict between the display drivers in the update and the display hardware shipped with certain iPhones.
If you have also noticed new stuck pixels after installing the 2.0.1 update, I'd love to hear that I'm not the only one seeing this. And, if you have somehow managed to resolve the issue, I'd love to know how you did it.

As already pointed out, "stuck pixels" are hardware related. They will be evident all the time, regardless of the particular screen being viewed. If they show only on particular screens, it isn't a dead pixel, but a software/ driver issue. I see a horizontal line in my Unlock Screen that I didn't notice before 2.0.1, but I'm not sure I really looked for it before. However, I don't see it in other screens with a black background such as the Home Screen, indicating it has something to do with the Unlock Screen image, and not the LCD pixels.

  • Is it worth paying to have iphone 4s fixed after wifi greyed out

Hi all my iphone 4s isnt connecting to wifi greyed out  since updating ios7 tryed all troubleshooting tips etc its 15 mths old so not covered but after contacting apple i can send it for repair for €211 this seems harsh seens its their fault issue only started due to the update have read why , read loads discussions and so many with same problem So have repair set up is it even worth it  or as anyone done this what was outcome ??

Some folks think the problem is due to poor solder connections of the WiFi chip on the card. Heating may expand the joints to cause temporary connectivity. The chip itself could be of low tolerance, and the iOS update causes it to fail the threshold. If you have tried the software resets, then the cure is to reflow the solder of the chip to the WiFi card, or to replace the WiFi card. Apple will not "own" this problem, even though it seems to be widespread. Apple offers to renew your contract for a new iPhone at $199. Certain repair shops will tackle this problem, although many local shops will not. In the US try iFix Miami Beach. See them on eBay <http://www.ebay.com/itm/iPhone-4S-Grayed-Out-Wifi-Wireless-Fix-Repair-Service-Tr usted-Specialists-/161160765436?ssPageName=ADME:L:OU:US:1120> for a $69 fix. They fixed my iPhone 4S and returned within a week (even over the Memorial Day holiday weekend). In Europe, I have read about, but have not tried PodMod <http://www.podmod.org> Hope this helps.

  • Iphone 4s won't sync to itunes after iOS 6.0.1 update

After updating my iphone 4s to the iOS 6.0.1, my phone will no longer sync to my computer's itunes. It states The iPhone cannot be used because it requires iTunes version 10.6.3 or later. Go to www.itunes.com to download the latest version of iTunes. However my irunes is updated to the most recent update (itunes 11) and this problem still remains. The iphone 4s is also updated on any new software.

    Remove and reinstall iTunes.
