Fix for 5 GHz wide channel ON drop outs on AEBS!!

change the channel from automatic (36) to 161... haven't tried others.
open the airPort Utility app
click on the base station
got to manual set up > wireless tab
radio mode: 802.11n (5GHz)
IMPORTANT! Channel: press Option while Clicking on the Channel combo box and choose 161... found out from the instruction manual that this option + click gives extra options... also extra options for radio mode as well... non- n options
wireless options: wide channels ON
press update
may have to restart you Apple TV... press and hold "menu" and "-"/down button... wait a bit and from the menu press "restart"
and no more dropout with 5GHz wide channels on!!!

Ok - just to make sure Apple hears about every one of us having the problem. I never had any issues with my wireless connection prior to the 2.01 upgrade but now streaming from my Mac to the AppleTV using the Airtunes function doesn't work for more than 5-10min before the network connection is dropped.
Configuration:
- AEBS running a N only 5GHz network and using Wide Channels - latest software & firmware
- AppleTV with 2.01 software
- iMac used for streaming
I'm not planning to switch 2.4Ghz or stop using wide channels (I already have a 2.4Ghz G network thank you )- so please Apple we need a patch!
Kind regards

  • Multicast Channels Sound Drop Outs / Picture Pixel...

Had this issue for months now and its totally unique to broadband channels.  Its been a problem since leaving sky and joining BT in august.
Had around 5 engineers out who all say "Im the wrong type of engineer for this job, all i can do is check your broadband"
Sound just randomly drops out and picture quality on ondemand such as kids is getting noticeably worse.
Im on BT Infinity and get 79Mb DL which im told has no errors whenever an engineer checks however the guys on the phone tell me they can see my line is losing packets.  line correction has been applied and my speed was halved to 35Mb! This did NOT fix the problem.
Watching channel 4 HD at the mo and if im being honest its like the kids have the remote and keep pushing Mute.
Had a REIN test and nothing is interfereing
Im at the end of my tether
Oh and Both Box AND router have been swapped out
Its a Black BT Vision Box and BT Home Hub 4
Anyone had this issue and got it fixed?

I wonder if the issue might lie with the HH4. Do you have an HH3 to hand or could you borrow one to try?
I know that is not very helpful. The only other thing might be to swap to a YouView box.
I assume you have tried different ports in the HH4?

  • Wireless 2.4ghz channel keeps dropping out on HH5

As per title really. Recently the HH5 has started losing the 2.4ghz connection. 5 GHz still working fine. Have reset the 2.4ghz connection and all is well for a while, but then drops out some time later. Really irritating now as my PC only uses 2.4 band and I keep being thrown off my office VPN...
    Please help...

You can get a 5GHz dongle, wireless-ac preferably for the PC.

  • Has any one found a fix for the iOS 5 WI FI dropping problem?

I own an iPhone 4 and when I upgraded to iOS 5.1.1 it began dropping the WI FI connection randomly, usually after only a few minutes of inactivity.  The only solution is to re-start my router and it works fine for a while then drops the connection.  I am certain the problem is not with the iPhone hardware.  It must be a bug in iOS 5.1.1.
I have been an apple user since the beginning and I have owned just about every model of Mac, I hope Apple will address this issue soon, as I can not imagine any way end users can fix the problem.  For the record;  my iPhone is factory fresh and not hacked in any way.
Thank you in advance for any assistance...

I'm not aware of any wifi drop problem, which leads me to believe that your router is the problem (or your wifi carrier).  Have you had problems using wifi at a public location, like a coffee shop or any store that provides free wifi?

  • HT204291 Streaming ok via AirPlay to Apple TV for about 10 mins then airplay drops out

    Any help would be appreciated

Fix the Wi-Fi issue.. either move the ATV and router closer to one another, remove other devices causing interference, or connect the ATV via an Ethernet cable.

  • ITunes Home share disappears ,restarting iTunes fixes for a while.

I have a PC server (no monitor) with a newly installed win 7x64, latest updates, and latest iTunes.  Homesharing is enabled.
This is connected to a gigabit HP Procurve switch.
An apple TV2 ,wireless accesspoint, and ADSL modem are also connected to the same switch (and several other intel PC's around the house).
I use my iPhone to select the iTunes homeshare, and airplay to the apple tv.
This works just fine for about 1/2 hour or more , but then the homeshare just disappears.
Restarting iTunes on the server fixes the problem , but, the home share drops out again.
When it goes down, I used the 'bonjour browser' on another networked pc (ie, not the itunes one) and the home share is not listed. So, I'm tending to think that itunes is 'crashing' internally somewhere.
I dont think it is the firewall, since it would either work all the time or not at all.
The apple tv is connected to the itunes server via a very good switch and ethernet cabling. It is a very simple setup.
This is highly frustrating since I've banked on apple products to power the music in my house.  But, every 1/2 hour i've got to restart itunes. Annoying if I am hosting a party.
    Any ideas?

The notebook and desktop cannot see each other, but they can see the netbook. I know that going forward, I will need to manually manage the ratings on both computers, bit I have smart playlists set up to do that. My main issue is that because I duplicating the exact same folders on the vista laptop tinthe windows 7 desktop, this threw something off in home share where they do not recognize each other. I need to know what was thrown off so I can fix it.

  • HT4528 I pulled my iPhone out of the docking station/speakers and now the ring tones don't work.  Anyone know a fix for this?

Does anyone know if there is a fix for iPhone 4S when you pull it out of the docking station and now the ring tones don't work -- it only vibrates.

Basic troubleshooting of the device is reset, restart, restore (first from backup then as new).  Has any of this been tried?
    Do other sounds work?
Have you checked to see if the dock connector or headphone jack have debris in them?

  • Broadband Dropping Out and Connection Speed Decrea...

Sorry to be a pain but I am back here again.
Since the last issue with speed, connection drop out and noisey line which required an underground cable to be partly replaced, all has been fantastic and no problem to report. Many thanks to those who were involved in helping with getting that issue resolved.
About 10 days ago the broadband started to drop out at random times but not too often. The broadband hub light would go out for about 15 seconds before returning. My connection would automatically resume and no great problem. It has since become more of a problem and pain.
The frequency of drop out increased with a sort of pattern. Last week an example would be drop out at 11:50 am, again at 12:40 and once more at 1:30 pm. Each time the connection returned my computer icon for wifi would be a warning triangle. I clicked on the icon and would get a message 'limited connection'. The only way I could connect again would be to click the icon and select to disconnect and then connect, making sure a 'tick' was in the box for autoconnection. A bit more of a pain than before but usable. It got more of a problem over the next few days.
The frequency of drop out increased. This became a right pain when trying to purchase things online as I could not be sure in the purchase had been completed or if I tried again would I get two lots? Upon broadband connection returning I would not be able to 'auto connect' but would get the warning triangle of 'limited connection'. I tried the click to disconnect and reconnect but it failed to work. I ended up shutting down the laptop, waiting before powering up. This failed to work as all I would get is the warning triangle and 'limited connection'. The only way I could reconnect was to press the 'restart' button. This worked but it got worse.
The next day the broadband connection would drop out every couple of hours. It got to the point that even pressing the 'restart' button would not allow me to connect. I tried three times and gave up. I had to resort to pressing the very small 'reset' button on the back. This cured the problem for about 12 hours before the drop outs started again.
It is now a case of 50/50 if I can connect to the broadband again after a drop out. It is getting quite frustrating. I only used the small 'reset' as a last resort. I have noticed that the speed of the connection has started to drop down also.
Each time the hub drops broadband and I can auto connect and do not press any hub button, the timer has reset to zero days and zero hours. I know it takes about a week for the connection to settle. I do wonder if these drop outs are messing the connection settings for my line speed? The line used to be rated at 21 Mbps but has decreased to 17 Mbps, my actual connection used to be 19 Mbps but struggles to reach 14 Mbps. It is slowly dropping with each and every drop out.
I also looked at the event log in the hub. Just before each broadband drop out I see a external connection is made with the initials 'CWMP' followed by 'event code 1 boot' or 'event code 6 connection request' or 'event code 4 value change'. Straight after the broadband connection drops out with out fail.
All I can seem to find out is that the external connection is either the hub connecting to the server or vice versa? As for the codes? I have no idea at all.
I only ever resort to pressing 'restart' if I cannot connect to my hub. I have only pressed the 'reset' as a last resort as nothing else worked to allow me to reconnect.
Can anyone offer any help or best a permanent fix?

I connected to the test socket and used a wired connection for the speed test and hub stats.
The hub position and run of cables are the same as when the last engineer advised as the best set up.
Since my last post I have checked the event log and 'CWMP' has made at least two remote connections but the hub did not drop broadband connection. The broadband has been stable but just slower than usual, as you stated due to the drop outs/disconnections.
I guess a case of wait and monitor to see if the problem has resolved itself?
Will the speed automatically return to the usual 18 to 19 Mbps? or will something else have to be done to reset it at the exchange/server?

  • Airport network music play drops out/in on Yosemite

I've been playing music throughout my house using 2 Airport Express on the same Airport network for years.  Occasionally music would drop out but would recover by itself, and since it didn't occur very often, it was okay.  However after upgrading to Yosemite and then upgrading to the latest version, music now drops out 1-3 per min on the same network with the same Airport Express devices - So frequently that it was virtually unlistenable.  I was not expecting services to get worse with the OS upgrade.  Is there a fix or workaround for this, or do I need to wait until the next "upgrade"?  Thanks.

    I'm having a similar problem.
Since my upgrade to Yosemite connecting to Airplay audio is much harder, have to try up to four times on occasion (error message: cannot connect to Airplay). It also disconnects in between songs on Itunes and in between videos on Youtube or different files elsewhere. Strangely when I get it working, it does not often drop out in the middle of a file.
I know I have quite some interference at my place of other routers (I bought the AP for this reasons), but I did not have this problem at all with Mavericks. As my WiFi in general also seems less stable, I definitely think this is related to the dreaded Yosemite WiFi issue. Glad to hear any suggestions, otherwise I hope 10.10.2 will fix this.

  • Broadband keeps dropping out - every 20 mins or so...

This is getting beyond a joke now so really hope someone can help fix this for me.  The broadband started dropping out every 20 mins or so about 6 weeks ago and is just getting worse.  Any moderators reading this - if I can't get it sorted I'm leaving BT.
Have read a few posts and I think this is the info I need to provide.
    I have a Home Hub 3.
Speed test on the line gives download speed of 4.85Mbps and an IP profile of 5.87Mbps.
Upstream test gives 1.18Mbps and a Rate IP profile of 0.83Mbps
I performed the quiet line test and the line was perfectly quiet with no crackles or hisses.
    The ADSL stats are below.
Anything anyone can do to help will be much appreciated.

  • Optical audio keeps dropping out

    Hi
i have an ATV3 with optical audio to my amp (no HDMI inputs) and HDMI direct to TV.  The audio will work for a few minutes and then drop out - if i leave the TV on (HDMI) it never drops out.  Sometimes it will work for a few seconds, sometimes a few hours but never consistently.  In attempts to fix i have replaced the optical cable, updated software (via mac not WIFI) but still no luck.
    Any suggestions?
    thanks

  • T410 audio drops out after 10 seconds

I have an issue whereby audio drops out on the internal speakers after 10-20 seconds. Adjusting volume or mute/unmute fixes things for another 5 seconds before audio drops out again.  Headphones work fine from VGA port!  Things I've tried without luck:
    1. updating the sound driver
    2. updating BIOS
    3. reseating battery
    4. disabled all enhancements in the speaker properties
    5. disabled exclusive mode's "allow applications to take exclusive control of this device"
    6. there are no "disabled" or "disconnected" devices in sound properties

    Windows 7, x64

A cold beer for whoever suggests the correct fix for this!

Does it happen in Safe Mode?
EDIT: Forgot Safe Mode has no audio. Try launching MSCONFIG and disabling stuff in the Startup tab, then rebooting. Or try a bootable Ubuntu LiveCD.

  • FCP X Audio Drop-Out or Audio Gap on Timeline.

    Hello fellow FCPX-ers.
I am posting this thread on a few forums as I have encountered a very weird issue taking place.
Trying to figure out if the issue I am encountering is a bug/glitch or a technical issue.
This has consistently occurred in three different projects now all shot at different times. The audio has been fine on the camera during the recording process and has been fine in it’s RAW NATIVE SOURCE.
    THE ISSUE
For some reason my audio keeps dropping out on my timeline and it is creating audio skips/clicks making it impossible to export proper audio or fix the gaps on the timeline.
Screenshots are attached to this thread for a visualization example.
I have followed the process and finished troubleshooting with it all the way to FCP X.
Thus, I am able to pinpoint that whatever is going on is a FCP X issue
The audio is fine until it reaches the FCP X timeline.
I have tested the RAW FILE in VLC player and there is no audio drop-outs
I have also tested the video file in Sony Vegas Video and the audio is fine.
    The Digital Workflow:
It start’s off as a .M2T file which is then run through Clipwrap 2.6.4 as a (rewrap as source format) and then eventually makes it into FCP X and is placed on the appropriate timeline.
I have had this same error for three different projects now.  It has occurred both when using the NATIVE VIDEO FORMAT and when trying to use the (rewrap 1920 x 1080 format)
Thanks in advance for your time and help.
    reggie-

You don't say what your audio settings are for Clipwrap. If you're exporting mp3/AAC or other player format, then FCPX is probably having problems dealing with those formats.
You might try selecting your audio (or related video) tracks and rendering (Control-R) and see if that fixes the dropouts. You can also try selecting the clips in the Event Browser, right-clicking and selecting Transcode from the popup (if the options are available.)
The "native" FCPX audio format is WAV( ! ) AIF/AIFF and CAF will work just as well.  The transcode options should be PCM (or LPCM,) 24 bits/sample and 48kHz sample rate (or "better" - but the sample rate should match your project settings.) If you have control over these options in Clipwrap, you should set them accordingly.

  • DROP OUT cure!  Make sure "Enable Interference Robustness" is Checked!!!

I found the secret button - and now music plays like there's no tomorrow!
Like - I spent at least three weeks - three different routers trying to get my music to stream without drop-outs - to no avail. Then finally I FOUND THE TRICK. Like duh! Read on.
    Here's my set up -
3 Airport Express Boxes fed to three separate amps and speakers around the house
1 Apple TV fed to the home theatre
4 Laptops connect wirelessly to the Netgear
1 NAS drive hardwired to the Netgear with all the iTunes Music on it
All connected to 1 Netgear MIMO-G Router via WPA Security
Man this was killing me - with all these variables I couldn't figure out why my music would play OK for a few minutes, then either drop out every minute or so for a few seconds - or just crash my router requiring me to kill its power for 2 seconds. This was killing me. I was about to give up on Apple and get a Roku.
But alas - here's the cure
THERE IS THIS LITTLE TINY CHECK BOX IN THE AIRPORT EXPRESS ADMIN UTILITY -
ON THE AIRPORT TAB - UNDER THE BOX THAT SAYS WIRELESS SECURITY THERE IS A TINY BOX THAT SAYS:
    "Enable Interference Robustness"
Click that - and you are in like slim.
I found so many calls for help on this board for drop-outs that I had to just write this post. Good luck to all!
    G

Ok, so all i got to say to this setup is wow you are a crazy man lol. First off storing your itunes library on a drive on the network is going to add more latency to your network as each time you try playing a song its having to go from your computer to the router, to the NAS drive, back to the router and then to the airport. However one thing i didnt see or maybe you may have tried i dont know is before using the enable interference robustness option did you try changing the wireless channel on the netgear router? Could just be something is interfering with the current wireless channel that its on. After tinkering with Interference Robustness myself ive found it to be like a Mass Blanket of wireless transmission. Think of you and another person being in a room with a crowd of people and your yelling back info back and forth. Sure you can hear and talk back to the person but your range to hear and speak is greatly reduced meaning if you wanna add any other wireless products that are outside that reduced range your kinda out of luck.

  • Airport Express dropping out

I am using an airport express to join my network and have connected a network printer to it using and ethernet cable. I have previously used this airport express to connect a windows PC and never had a problem. I recently purchased an iMac to replace the windows PC and no longer need the Airport for the windows PC, so I am now using it for my network printer. The problem is that the Airport now keeps dropping the network. The Yellow light flashes momentarily and then re-connects, and while this is happening my printer is not on-line. The funny thing is that it only happens when the iMac (which is only several feet from the Airport express) is on. If I put the iMac to sleep it works fine. If I reboot the iMac it works again for a while but eventually starts dropping out again. I have tried power-cycling the Airport and printer but to no avail. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.
P.S. all software and firmware are up to date for both the iMac, the Airport Express, and my Airport Extreme.

    Welcome to the discussions!
By close the laptop, do you mean it goes into standby or a sleep mode? Or, are you using a larger monitor, closing the laptop and not using the laptop screen?
If it's the former, you need to check on the HP to see if there is a "remember this network setting", "stay alive" or something similar so the connection is not lost.
When you close the lid on the HP, it is probably blocking access to the internal antenna within the laptop. If the top is closed, the only way the radio waves can be seen would through the sides of the laptop.
Unless you are seeing intermittent drops in the wireless connection when the laptop is open, it sounds like the Express is delivering a constant wireless signal. Download www.istumbler.net to get a good look at the signal strength and noise on your network. The strength indicators on most laptops are not very accurate.
