Fix for 'battery drain'!!

I believe there is a bug in the inbuilt battery monitor of the 4s.
I got my 4s yesterday and today it went from 55% to 12% in only 45 minutes! Just when I wanted to grab my charger i thought id let the battery run out completely out of juice. So I continued playing 'Osmos'. When my battery percentage go to 1% i thought it would die anytime now. Instead, it went on showing 1% for 45 minutes! I could play my heave duty game for 45 minutes on one single percent!
I recharged to 100% and my 4s is now battery-drain free! Also i noticed other option suddenly worked, which were sitched on but i didnt notice before... Like spellcheck and such.
My iphone 4s is now working properly and the battery percentage is lasting and stagnating.
I guess people need to let it run out of juice ompletely, and charge to the max after that.
I just browsed the web on safari for 20 minutes, losing only one percent of my battery percentage. Before it would lose 20 percent on a session of the same duration.
NOTHING WRONG WITH THE HRDWARE!
Have fun everyone!

The 3G option. WHEN that option is off, iphone is connected to your operators 2g network! Because 3G has often weaker signals then 2G
Good luck!

  • Is there a fix for battery drain on ipad 2 IOS 5.0.1? drain from 100% to 70% in less than 20min had it on playing music with display off

is there a fix for battery drain on ipad 2 IOS 5.0.1? drain from 100% to 70% in less than 20min had it on playing music with display off

About all that can be suggested is to use the feedback form and talk to Apple. They have communicated with some users, trying to get more info to find out just what the battery drain is so they can fix it. Unfortunately with the myriad of operating systems, apps and individual tweaks, there could be several combinations of settings that are draining the battery.
My personal suspicion is that it has something to do with iCloud and the wifi syncing. (My ipad, before I changed the setting, was reaching out to find a sync on a regular basis. And it may still be doing so, however I set my iTunes to not automatically open to keep my device from trying to sync several times in an evening...not to mention the constant aggravation of iTunes opening regularly)
That said, I could be wrong and it could be an app that users have in common, or several apps.

  • Temporary Fix for battery drain for iOS 5

After going through various recommendations, the following worked for me:
    1. Notifcations - Settings -> Notifications
Under the 'In Notifcation Center' category, select Calendar and turn the Notification Center option 'OFF"
This seems to be the main problem for those that have their exchange accounts synced with their phones.
In addition, I also removed all other items from Notification Center except for Weather and it seemed to slow down the battery drain considerably.
    2. Location Services - Settings -> Location Services
You can see what apps/services have been using or currently using the location service by noticing a grey or purple arrow next to the line item. Go through what items have the location service ON, and see if you really require some of them to access your location information, the less the better.
This helped a LOT: Scroll down to the bottom and access 'System Services'. Under 'System Services' uncheck all except 'Cell Network Search', .Compass Calibration' & 'Traffic'.
    3. Let the battery drain completely until the phone switches off on its own, then charge it to 100% without using the phone. Not sure if this really helped, but I wanted to try as many options as possible.
I think the drain is due to a combination of different issues, and hope Apple release a patch soon to fix this annoying problem, till then I hope the above helps.

  • FIX for battery draining quickly. Turn off push for FACEBOOK

I thought my iphone battery must be getting old, as my battery would only last half a day despite less than 1 hr of usage. But after some investigation in the preferences, I turned off Facebook push and back to half battery after a whole day outside making numerous calls and light web surfing, wireless, network on 3G with location services on. Hope this helps others from going crazy!

  • NK1 update does not fix NG6 battery drain

Just saying the biggest and most common problem wasn't fixed. NG6 sucks the battery and NK1 doesn't improve. Hard reset / factory reset is not an option. Changing from GPS High Accuracy mode should not be required. I was running that before the update. The only thing that helps somewhat is to go to the task manager and clear the memory on the ram tab frequently.

    hi
they keep deleting my posts about that, but what helped me tremendously was simply switching off SIRI competely...
My phone died within 4-5 hours (new, clean install, the third new hardware in a row)... and since I switched off SIRI it holds the battery for over 24 hours even if I use it a lot...
told it to the Apple Store 'geniuses' today in Berlin, hopefully that info makes it into the next update.

  • Please help: need fix for battery not charging on iPhone 4 since install of IOS5 SAYS "NOT SUPPORTED BY THIS ACCESSORY

Can someone help me fix my issue: not charging in wall outlet but will charge in usb port. It seems this happened right after install of ios 5.0.1
    Thanks so much!

I have experienced the same issue. We have a USB power adaptor and a cable that we routinely use to charge our iPhones in the kitchen. While my iPhone4 keeps showing that error message, my wife's iPhone4S and all the kids iPods are charging just fine. Not a chance for a faulty power adaptor or cable.....
It also started very recently. My iPhone can be charged with my computer, my car's charger so my dock connector has to be OK. It's as if the hardware signature of the USB power adaptor is no longer recognized. Also coincides with recent software update....

  • Mysterious battery drain

Around once a week my ipod completely discharges it's battery. It's kept constantly charged through my compatible car stereo and always shows full charge. There's no problem when I use it away from a power source, it can DJ an all night party no problem. I've tried turning it off when not in use and using 'Hold'. When it has discharged, sometimes it doesn't even start charging when I plug it into my computer. It can discharge in as little time as 12 hours. It'll probably mean a new battery, but any help or advice would be apreciated (I've already checked the Apple site and there's nothing relating to this problem I can find).

    The steps below should help.
    - Make sure using the latest BIOS. (They always include fixes for battery drain)
    - Make sure using latest Thinkvantage Power Management.
    - Go to BIOS Disable Wake on LAN, Wake on Link and anything else wake on related.
    - Go to Device manager and disable Wake on Lan on Network card.
    - Go to device manager and check power management settings, allow computer to shut off option, on all usb items.
Issues are most likely BIOS/Windows OS configuration not the battery.
    - If you want to go further, double check the Windows OS wak_ armed devices in CMD "powercfg -devicequery wake_armed" Then check all the power saving options listed in device manager.
    - Also to diagnose battery issue, disconnect AC and Battery. Then reconnect the battery only and wait to see if the battery drains at all, probably not I bet. If not then you know its BIOS/Windows OS related.
    Good luck.
    Happy to help

  • Help / FYI - MicroSD card the source of a constant battery drain in BB10

I'm not sure if this is a 'Z10' specific issue as I don't have a Q10 but I've been trying to track down the source of a constant battery drain on my Z10, in my case, it is having a microSD card inserted.
    Some more info:
    - Model: STL100-3
    - OS version: 10.1.0.2354 (current version of OS but the constant battery drain has existed on all other versions I have tried).
    - Carrier: Virgin Mobile Canada
    - MicroSD card: Sandisk Ultra 64GB
Essentially, BatteryGuru has always shown a constant 0.4 watt drain on my Z10 which means my Z10, even if I am not using it at all, will at most last about 12 hours.
I narrowed it down to the microSD card after doing the following:
    - eliminating the mobile network as the source by removing the SIM card and turning off mobile connections.
    - eliminating EAS accounts as the source by removing all 4 of my email accounts on the phone
    - deleting essentially all my apps (even with no third party apps installed except batteryguru and no customized accounts like Box, the 0.4 watt drain still persisted).
I then thought it might be the encryption setting but encryption is turned off on my phone (for the phone and the media card).
I also thought it might be the amount of files I had on my SD card (20GB's of music, 10GB ov videos, 5 GB's of photos), but even with the card reformated and empty the 0.4 watt drain continues.
But if I remove the microSD card, the battery drain stops with BatteryGuru reading 0.0 watt drain (saying it will give me 112 hours on battery).  Even after re-adding my email accounts and leaving wifi on (but not the mobile network), my battery drain is still 0.0 watts.
Since I have always had a 0.4 watt drain on my Z10's (I'm on my fourth right now), I know it isn't unique to this phone and I've been on at least three different OS's so it's not unique to the OS.  The only constant I guess is that it has been a SanDisk 64GB card.
I'll have to see if I can buy/borrow another microSD card to see if it happens with another size capacity but hopefully this can be fixed in a future update??
    Regards.

    Hello
I have the same issue with the same card: a SanDisk Ultra 64 GB - also same measurements using Battery Guru. I changed to a 32GB Transcend Micro SDHC class 10 and the battery drain is much less but still existing.
I checked the SD type number, found Transcend SD cards on the Transcend website especially recommended for mobile phones and ordered yesterday a 32GB and 64GB.
As I am on vacation I will not be able to test the cards for battery drain in near future but it is very interesting that I had the same issue with SanDisk SD on Blackbery Torch/OS7.
As far as I know these issues are caused by SD cards not entering certain idle modes when unused.

Interesting about the cards not entering idle mode.  I'm trying to find another card to try.  The SanDisk Ultra 64GB is technically for mobile phones but if it doesn't work right, well... it doesn't work right.
This has been posted on CrackBerry to and it seems others have had the same problem though a couple of people pointed out they have not had that problem (one of those stated he was using a Q10 though and not the Z10).

  • Heavy Battery Drain after updating to 8.1 Lumia Cy...

After updating my Lumia 1520 to 8.1 Cyan update, the battery drain is very high. The battery is lasting only for 6 to 7 hours when the data traffic is on  (under  mixed use of 2G and 3G modes). I have noticed few other users were also experiencing heavy battery drain after the Cyan update.
Will there be an update to fix this battery drain issue?
When the phone was in WP 8 Lumia Black update, battery backup was around 24-30 hrs (when data traffic was on).
What will be the workaround for this?

    Solved!

Yep, my 1520 battery drains like a helicopter that's lost it's rotor after this 8.1 update.
I was just boasting last weekend how awesome the battery life was on this phone, I drove 300mi with the GPS w/navigation, did some tethering to my laptop for work, went overnight..no charging, used lightly all the next day, few pictures, email, browsing, phone calls, and drove 300mi back on GPS/navigation and I still had 38% battery left.
I updated to 8.1 sunday night, and on my normal commute to a customer in another state, which under 8.0 would have drained oh...mabey 4-5%, I was at 62% by the time I got to this customer yesteday.
All I did was make a phone call, that's it. All background stuff is not allowed. location off, cortana off, ...still drains.
Bad bad bad news. I'm not seeing much usefull ness out of 8.1, and considering the battery life and no real new features....just gimmicks if you ask me, I'm not sure I want to stay at 8.1 . I'm trying to give it a chance...battery life is still better than my POS samsung androids I've had in the past, but knowing how good it really can be...and no real features in 8.1 (I was hopeing they'd fix the imap email not allowed to map sent/trash/inbox issue)....eshh...what a mess it seems.

  • Anyone on T-Mobile UK that does NOT have the iPhone 4S battery drain

    Hi,
Just wondered if anyone is out there who is on the T-Mobile network, and is not having battery issues with the iPhone 4S?
Every SIM card from T-Mobile I tried in my phone gives me the drain.
SIMs from other providers (so far, O2 and Three) appear to be fine (i.e. they FIX the battery drain problem).
Even had T-Mobile replace my SIM, to no avail.
Just wondering if it is the type of SIM they use?
Please leave a note if you are on T-Mobile, and whether you have the problem or not.

I thought it wouldn't be that, but I don't understand why when I put a SIM from another provider in, the drain immediately stops, and the phone works normally.
I have tried completely factory restoring my phone, and not putting anything onto it, just using it on its own, with the SIM in it.
The drain is still there, which suggests it isn't a problem with the settings for me.
Flight mode doesn't help - drain still there. Removing SIM fixes it instantly, or, as I say, using a SIM from a different provider. This is really strange.
Unfortunately I am tied to a contract, and can't switch providers at the moment...

  • IPhone 3 battery draining since iOS6 update

My husband has an iPhone 3G (not a 3GS) and since I updated it with iOS6, his battery is draining very quickly.  I had the same problem when I had an iPhone 3GS and updated it to iOS4.  I thought my battery draining was because my phone was so old, so I got a new one and then the bug fix came out.  Has anyone heard if there will be a bug fix for battery issues on iOS6?  Any other thoughts as to why his battery is draining so quickly?  I have changed the settings (brightness, no apps running in background, push notifications, etc.) as best I can to make sure it's not using too much battery, but that does not help.

  • IP4S Battery Drain Was 8% hour.  Restored As NEW PHONE Via iTunes Battery Drain Now 1% per hour!

RE:  iPhone 4S rapid battery drain out-of-the-box.
I had been experiencing a battery drain of 8% per hour.
Apple's software update did not make it better!
I then restored my iPhone 4S as a NEW phone and now my battery is draining at 1% per hour with all settings at maximum for battery drain.
Apple could have done more to make millions of customers happier customers.

Thanks for sharing.  Restoring the phone first from backup then as new is one of the standard troubleshooting steps outlined in the User Guide.  Too bad more people like you don't realize this.

  • A fix that works for your battery drain with iOS 8.2

After I updated my iPhone 4s to the new iOS 8.2 I found my battery life had become terrible.  I could barely make it through an 8 hour day at work before my phone would die.  It was so bad that I had to get myself a second charger to plug it in during the day.  Even then, if I used the phone at all, it would still lose its charge while plugged in.
Before this update, my phone would easily last through the day and would not need to be plugged in before I went to bed.  Even at midnight when I'd go to rest for the night, my phone was never below 70% and most times it would still be well above 80% but not so with iOS 8.2  So here is a fix I found on another forum somewhere.  I was desperate so I tried it and low and behold, it worked great.
    Here goes:
Let your phone die completely until it turns off by itself
Plug it in your charger until it comes back on again (around 6% for mine)
Turn it back off using the top button and the slider on the phone
Leave it plugged in for 2 to 3 hours or until you figure it would have reached 100%
Unplug the phone and turn it on
Now reboot your device (turn it off and back on again)
That's it.  This fixed it for me and for many on the forum where this was posted.  My battery life is back to what it was before my update to iOS 8.2.  I have plenty of battery life left when I get home after work.
Try it and pass it on....it works.

Use the Settings app to determine what apps or processes are using your battery the most. Once you know what is causing the battery drain you can take steps to reduce it.
Settings > General > Usage > Battery Usage
Wait a few seconds for the device to bring up the list of apps with their battery usage.
