Fix for Bluetooth Keyboard/Mouse Freeze problem.

After deleting the following file: /Library/Preferences/com.apple.Bluetooth.plist
And re-pairing my Apple Bluetooth keyboard and mouse all of my freezing problems have been resolved.

For what it's worth...
I have read a bunch of different threads on this. So far I have:
- downgraded my TimeCapsule (still had problems)
- Upgraded to 10.5.7 (still had problems)
- made both the bluetooth keyboard and might mouse "favorites" per http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1907901&tstart=30
- disabled bluetooth in the network panel
...and left an old PC mouse connected to a USB port.
The add as favorites / disable in network panel I have done fairly recently and - so far - no problems.
YMMV...

  • Security Cables for Bluetooth Keyboard/Mouse

I am installing the Bluetooth Keyboard/Mouse in a public kiosk and wonder what suggestions you have for securing these devices without a security cable lock slot.
The building is fully secure and we have a motion sensor IP cam setup in our booth, so I think minimal (deterrent) strength would be sufficient. They will be secured to a lectern that itself will have a thick cable attached to the floor or wall. I've seen the tufnut adhesive cables online, but I don't know their quality/cheapness.
Our products are high end, we're using 50"+ 1080p LCDs and are going for a full luxury feel, the tufnut line just looks like it could be a bit tacky.
Does Apple have an official recommendation on how to secure the Bluetooth keyboard/mouse?
    Thanks!!

    Hello zg:
If you want an "official" comment, it would be best to ask your question at an Apple store. I have no suggestions as I have not needed to do what you describe.

  • Sharing Bluetooth Keyboard & Mouse with two Mac's

I have a PowerPC and a MacBook Pro. I also have a bluetooth keyboard/mouse I use with the PowerPC. Is there a way I can also use them with the MacBook Pro and "hot swap" between computers? (By "hot swap" I mean thru some software or configuration switch to use the keyboard/mouse with one computer and then with the other without having to go thru disable/discover etc, etc). I'd really would like to avoid having to purchase another bluetooth keyboard/mouse (I have limited desk space). Thanks in advance for all replies.

This might not be exactly what you are after but I suggest you give it a try.
    http://synergy2.sourceforge.net/
It uses TCP/IP connections for the 2 computers but allows you to access each computer's desktop on the primary conputer's screen and move the active use of keyboard and mouse from one to the other as well as having some other features.

  • Question regarding Windows 7 w/iMac and bluetooth keyboard + mouse

I installed Windows 7 Home Premium, thru Boot Camp 3.0. My iMac 10.6.8 restarts w/a black screen. After reading the previous posts, I guess this is b/c I am using a bluetooth keyboard/mouse. Will any corded keyboard/mouse work or does it have to be an apple product? I am hours away from the Apple store, and in a very remote area. I could try to find someone with a PC corded keyboard/mouse if it would work.

Helps to have wired kb/mouse until BT and drivers installed.
Even a tech article here http://www.apple.com/support/bootcamp
Any will do. I use a lot of 3rd party kb and always use MS optical mice. Apple puts their own firmware in some keyboards which I don't understand and can cause problems of their own.
It isn't what OS you run as much as what model year the iMac.

  • No Bluetooth keyboard/mouse Option Anymore?

I was just configuring a 20" iMac, and noticed we no longer have the option to choose the wireless keyboard/Mighty Mouse.
When did Apple remove this option from the iMac? I see it's available with the MacPro, but not the iMac.
When I bought my current iMac 2 years ago I configured it the the Bluetooth keyboard/mouse.
Is the Bluetooth keyboard and/or mouse not working well with the Intel iMacs?

That's kind of what I'm thinking as well...maybe they realized it costs them more?
Another possibility is that the BT keyboard/mouse has some issues with the Intel iMacs they haven't been able to resolve...so they pulled that option as a way of "discouraging" sales of iMacs configured that way?

  • Is there a fix for Bluetooth failing after 1-2 hours of play on my remote audio speakers? It sounds like "gargling". It occurs with all bluetooth speakers and quitting and restarting bluetooth is the only remedy I've found. Others?

8-doing a factory reset, then repeating steps 1 through 6
Do you mean a restore to factory settings?. If so did you set up as new or restore from back up afterwards?

    Hello Antonio;
After many, many test I discovered that the problem, at least in my case it is caused by the new ACR 4.5. Please read the Thread that I post under Camera Raw. I include the link below.
I also open two Bug Reports about this, but as usual Adobe (and other Software Companies) will never take responsability for this, until one day they release a new version with "enhancements".

  • Fix for bluetooth connection connectivity problems...

    Hi,
I have had problems connecting my bluetooth for both my nokia's 6300 & 6500 classic to each other, my car and any other device. After just sitting there and searching i found this is the best way:
    1. Turn on bluetooth
    2. Make sure your phone is visible to all
    3. Instead of clicking on search audio enhancements go to Paired Devices and either select New or if you have already got any paired devices click Options on one of them and click Pair new device and a search will begin. The device you want to connect to should now be found.
    Hope it works

  • IMac keyboard/mouse Freeze, (Bluetooth AND USB!)

A few weeks ago my iMac started to freeze ramdomly, mouse/keyboard dont work, I even tried a USB mouse and keyboard with bluetooth tuned off, and the same thing happens, and when it freezes there is nothing (I tried desconecting USB keyboard/mouse, switching USB ports with no success) I can do but to unplug it from the power and plug it back in, but the weird thing is that I have LogMeIn installed, and when it freezes I am still able to use the computer thru LogMeIn, and I even WIPED my main drive, and WHILE reinstalling mountain lion the SAME thinga happened, mouse/keyboard would freeze.... I dont know what to do anymore.... please help!

Thanks for the feedback. BTW, for future reference, if you have AppleCare's protection plan and you're within 50 miles (80 KM) of an Apple repair station, you're eligible for onsite repair since yours is a desktop machine. My 27" iMac's HD went south and they replaced it onsite. Took about 1 1/2 hours. There wasn't any other down time, since I had multiple up-to-date and bootable clones on ext FWHDs and could run it until they got the parts and could come in.  It was interesting to learn how these boxes are put together.

  • PLEASE REVIEW THIS LOG REPORT 4 COMP/KEYBOARD/MOUSE FREEZE..FANS CYCLE FAST

    MY COMP STATS ARE BELOW..
as of late my g5 on random occasion will freeze up, the keyboard and mouse freeze, the caps lock button will not light up, plugging in new mouses wont work, the fans speed up like **** coming to earth..none of the keyboard shortcuts work. my only option is to keep dpoing a hard shutdown by holding the power button. i dont have any new recently installed software..
    - the light near the power button that is suppose to blink a color code to advise of certain issues is not blinking at all, nor has it changed color.
    - the freezes happen at random..sometimes not for days or a week and today it happened twice in 2 hours..
    - and my apple warranty is up..
    - i have recently started using a hp photosmart C4480 printer/scanner which i did not install any software..it worked plug and play.
im not overly computer tech savy..i posted the log from after a freeze down below..
IF ANYONE IS GOOD WITH READING THE LOGS MAYBE YOU CAN TELL ME OR DECIPHER WHAT MAY BE CAUSING THE FREEZES??
i see some messages that look like its a bad thing or something is outdated but i dont know what exactly its referring too..maybe some experianced user can point something out?
    - maybe a software upgrade or removal is needed?
if i did not post enough info for u to access my issue let me know what else you need to know please...system specs..software..whatever..
i cant afford to upgrade to 10.4 and the system is showing no hardware issues when i run the hardware scanning disc..
i cannot seem to find my utility disc to run those scans..any place i can download anything to do other scans,,

  • Bluetooth Keyboard/Mouse/Trackpad won't automatically connect after installing Boot Camp

    Hey guys!
Another peculiar thing happened to me today with my 3-week-old maxed-out 2012 iMac (other than it kernel panicking when I powered it down the other day...did I mention this was 3 weeks old?).
After installing Boot Camp which I will never do again, my iMac (on the OS X side) no longer recognizes my stock Apple Wireless Keyboard, Magic Trackpad, or Magic Mouse automatically, until I press a button on the keyboard and wait 5 seconds, click the trackpad and wait 5 seconds, or click the mouse and wait 5 seconds.
(The Windows 8 Boot Camp side pairs with the devices immediately after Windows boots, which leads me to believe that the bluetooth devices are defaulting to look for Windows.)
One of my huge fears I had when considering purchasing an iMac is that the Bluetooth devices wouldn't immediately connect. Being a power-user with former Mac notebooks and working understandably fast having owned a web development company for 8 years now and not having to worry about Bluetooth device pairing, I'd like to think this fear is substantiated. But after first use (before installing Windows 8 with Boot Camp Assistant) it functioned normally and the iMac would automatically discover my peripherals and connect them by the time time computer turned on. I also had no trouble holding the Option key on boot to select a boot device....
Now, ever since I set up Windows 8 on the Boot Camp partition and paired the keyboard/mouse/trackpad to Windows, the Mac side completely ignores the keyboard/mouse/trackpad until I click a button on each.
I'm trying to keep it together but this is raging me out.
I went into Windows, immediately unpaired the 3 peripherals from windows and now use a wired keyboard/mouse with Windows (yay, desk space!), deleted the items entirely from the bluetooth panel, then booted to Mac and did the same thing. I then re-paired the devices to the OS X side andddd...no go! Still doesn't find them automatically. I am extremely upset by this and can't seem to fix it.
To summarize, my two issues are:
    A. The iMac in OS X does not automatically recognize my bluetooth peripherals until I click a button on each and wait a couple seconds for them to pair.
    B. I cannot hold Option to select a boot device (or choose Windows/Mac for example) because the computer doesn't recognize the keyboard until OS X boots and I press a key.
Please...for the love of god...someone help me, and stop me from formatting my entire computer over this issue.

I don't have a logitech mouse, but is it possible that the mouse is going to sleep during the reboot, and is thus unavailable when the OS is looking for it?

  • Boot Camp, Vista, Gear Head Bluetooth Keyboard & Mouse

Just added a Gear Head bluetooth keyboard and mouse for Mac to my Mac Mini.
This Mac Mini is running Boot Camp with Windows Vista Home Premium.
The bluetooth keyboard and mouse work fine under Mac.
When I boot to Vista, I was able to install the Mouse, but running the setup wizard for the keyboard does not work.
When I run the bluetooth set up wizard for the keyboard, I get to the screen that lets me create or choose a passkey. I can do that, but when I go to the next screen, which is where you input the passkey on the keyboard, that screen only appears for about 2 seconds, and then errors. It does not give me the chance to type in the passkey.
BTW, the mouse works fine when switching back and forth between Mac OS and Vista without resetting it.
    Any thoughts?

You need the 64-bit version of Vista for one thing to use more than 1.9GB RAM.
Most of the problems people have with SP1 update have been pre-existing 'dirty file system'
To backup or clone Vista, I would use WinClone from OS X, or use Vista Businss/Ultimate before hand to backup files and system and make sure you have a good restore point before applying updates. Taht is one thing I would like to see Apple do, which MS updates often will.

  • Apple bluetooth Keyboard/mouse + gaming?

    Hello,
I've been trying to find this info on the net but haven't been able to so far...
Can anyone with Apple's bluetooth keyboard tell me if its response time is quick enough to make gaming possible?
    Thanks
    Loa

    Hello,
Thanks for the input Martin. I'm not a hardcore gamer either, but I'd really hate to see some lag from the keyboard or mouse...
2 quick questions: do you get any connection problems with either of them? And are there USB ports on the wireless keyboard?
    Thanks
    Loa
