Fix for google toolbar for firefox v7.0.1

Need a fix for google toolbar for firefox v7.0.1 it no longer works with updated Firefox Do not care to switch back to IE.

The Google Toolbar has nothing to do with Mozilla. Mozilla is not and never was responsible in any way for the Google Toolbar.
The Google Toolbar was created by Google for other browsers. It was never added to their own Google Chrome browser, and they have indicated that they have dropped support for it in Firefox. The only browser they were really concerned with keeping it in was IE. They did however assert that it was not needed in Firefox because there were already features in Firefox -- those "features" include other extensions which are not really Mozilla either. But the Google Toolbar is something you got from Google. I think it is doubtful that it would have ever passed Mozilla testing to be included at mozilla.addons (AMO) or that Google would have provided Mozilla with the source for verifications.
Take a look at what features you use in the Google Toolbar and check out your usage to what is available to you based on what Google has mentioned and based on what some Firefox users have noted in the following article:

For what it's worth Firefox 8.0 came out today (Tue Nov 8th, 2011), I updated from Help > About Firefox at what would be 11:55 AM Pacific time (7:55 PM London). It would be rolled out to different areas at different time. The release notes did not come up, which is probably good because they mess up so many users when they do come up.

We've reached out to the Hotmail team and they've determined that this is a bug in their code. (It was masked by a timing issue in 3.5 that was fixed in 3.6.) We've worked with them to develop a fix but they may not have deployed it yet.

  • Why does the "fix" for firefox copying and pasting not work?

I did the fix a few times and restarted firefox, with no success. Also, I installed the latest version of firefox and it is slower now. I have to use firefox for school, otherwise I would just find another way.

In what way is Firefox slow?
Is this all the time or only with loading web pages?
What kind of fix do you mean with: ''Why does the "fix" for firefox copying and pasting not work'' ?

  • Google Toolbar crashing Firefox 3.6.8

Firefox 3.6.8 crashes when accessing Add-on Manager and Google Toolbar (v 7.1.20100723W) is enabled

enable add-ons one at a time and restarted twice for each add-on and accessed Add-on Manager with no issues

restarted firefox… accessed Add-on Manager and the browser failed with the above script error…killed firefox through task manager

restarted Firefox in normal mode twice…accessed Add-on Manager with no issues
uninstalling/ reinstalling does not work…same issue
is any search engine toolbar?…I have read yahoo is crashing as well

Okay, this is a great way to do it. First start up Firefox in Safe Mode. On a windows, press alt when Firefox starts. On a Mac, press and hold alt and command while the Firefox icon bounces. Then, click on continue with safe mode. Go to the addons thingy, and don't disable Personas, UNINSTALL IT. Because then it takes the problem off completely. There you go. The problem is solved on Windows and Mac.

Be aware that Google has decided not to update the Google Toolbar for Firefox 5.0 and later versions, so Firefox 4.0 is the last version it will work with.

Google Labs has been working on a GTB 8 version, but it looks like it isn't made for Firefox - just for Internet Explorer. <br />

So, maybe Google isn't going to be supporting Firefox any longer. That might be a move to force Google Toolbar users over to Google Chrome, which I believe has all those features built-in.

  • How to use google toolbar in firefox 5? Can I use the older version with google toolbar or I have to delete firefox from my computer using IE etc?

I want to use google toolbar in firefox 5, but it does not support it.

You can try this extension to override compatibility issues - once it's installed, you can just re-enable Google toolbar.

  • How do Import bookmarks from google toolbar into firefox 6.02

Firefox 6.02 does not support google toobar add on. I have a ton of bookmarks in google toolbar and would need at least to import them to firefox but I do not see any way of doing it.
    Please advise urgently

You can open the Bookmarks Manager in Google Chrome (wrench icon > Bookmarks > Bookmarks Manager) and select "Tools > Export Bookmarks"
This will export the Chrome bookmarks to a file bookmarks.html.
You can import that file in Firefox: Bookmarks > Show All Bookmarks > Import & Backup > Import HTML : "From File"

  • Security problem with my google toolbar on firefox, what should I do?

google claims I can not use newer version of it on new firefox, but I have it now so it must not be the new versio of firefox. This does not make sense to me. What is happening here?

Your system info aside suggests you are using Firefox 3.0.19 that is old and not supported. Firefox 3.6 is still supported, and should be compatible with google toolbar. (Currently it is 3.6.24 I think) Whereas the current up to date release is Firerfox 8.

  • Is there a fix for Firefox being auto-redirected to known attack site from every new Google search?

Every time I do a Google search, the first link in that search clicked will direct me to a known attack site at http://64.111.212.229/ (URL followed by lines of gibberish code). It will occur only on the first link of any new search attempted.
My AV (Symantec Corporate 10.1.7.7000 version 12/8/2010 rev. 2) does not pick up any malware.
The problem does not occur in Google Chrome.
Does anyone have a similar problem and/or solution?
My Firefox: 3.6.13, OS: Windows 2003 Server Standard SP2.

@sergej0363: Well, nothing to stop you with your solution. I agree that some anit-spyware can be a bigger nuisance. Having said that, the problem you described may or may not look like a spyware problem though. I have found Spybot S&D to be quite serious and efficient, trusted by many.
It is not true that Mozilla is targeted specifically, although some browser-specific attacks may indeed occur, most often with IE. Assuming that your problem is indeed malware/spyware related it may be a matter of time until another browser is affected. And by no means Mozilla doesn't care. It actually has features like "block reported attack sites" or "web forgeries" when turned on. And Mozilla's OSS development model is usually considered to produce better security. But all this cannot always prevent e. g. drive-by infections or accidentally installing a spammer add-on.
As always, the classical triple precaution anti-virus, firewall, anti-spyware should help, besides keeping browser and OS software up to date and general.

  • Tried all the fixes for "Firefox is already running, but is not responding, " etc and am coming up blank. Do I have to just drop firefox?

Tried deleting firefox and reinstalling latest version to no avail.
Tried all fixes from previous questions to no avail.
Haven't seen anybody say that they've actually had a suggested fix WORK, but have seen hundreds of people with the problem.

To properly close Firefox use File > Exit as you already determined, and that you would have seen when looking for solutions.
But your real problem I believe is in how you are attempting to run multiple profiles at the same time. You can only have one default browser and only one default profile. Any other profile must be started with -no-remote and it is parent.lock that protects this to make sure that you use only one profile at a time.
