Fix: Install Itunes Error

Installing Itunes 6 On mac 10.3 resulted in the error:
Imstall Quicktime -- error
Installer package ÈQuicktime703È cannot be opened
the preflight script was either not executable or not readablable.
Unistalling Quicktime did not resolve this.
I was actully using 10.3.7 -- an simple OS update to OS 10.3.9, re-download te quicktime installed for 7.0.3 and install resulted in an error free Itunes 6 install.

Anyone?

Hi!! I finally found a solution
I´m Sure this one will work for everyone
-First you have to uninstall all Apple Software using Control Panel
-Download Unlocker Software from softsonic heres the link http://tinyurl.com/3e8gj2h
    or google it
    -Install Unlocker
-Go to Start and type this in search: %programdata%
-ProgramData window will open, so find apple folders
-Right click in each apple folder and find Unlocker in the options
-Choose Delete each apple folders (with unlocker program)
-Go to My PC, C Local Disk and find Program Files
-Look for Apple folders and Delete them (with Unlocker)
-Find a Folder (in Program Files) called Common Files
-Delete all Apple Folders (in common files) with Unlocker
    - Empty your trash can (thats what i did)
    -Reboot
    -Install Itunes
Note: You can Reboot or use Safe Mode to use Unlocker if it doesnt work.

  • Unable to install iTunes - error message

I keep trying to install iTunes with the same error all the time.
    "error writing to C:/program files/itunes/itunes.resources/pt.1proj/ipodsetup.nib/objects.xib"
I have deleted the Temp files folder, uninstalled both iTunes and QuickTime and restarted. I have tried running Chkdsk and it keeps telling me "it can't complete the error check". I just bought a new iPhone...HOW ELSE AM I GOING TO GET THIS PROGRAM INSTALLED AND RUNNING??? So irritated.

    +"error writing to C:/program files/itunes/itunes.resources/pt.1proj/ipodsetup.nib/objects.xib"+
That is often caused by a corrupt file.
    Try running a disk check:
    http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=315265
If that finds and fixes errors, try insatlling itunes.
If not try renaming the folder:
    C:/program files/itunes/itunes.resources/pt.1proj/ipodsetup.nib
This will prevent the installer seeing the problem file.

  • Can't install itunes. error  writing to file program files (x86)\Adobe\gnsk_dsp.dll

    I can't update itunes.
    During installation it says:
Error while writing in file: Program Files (x68)\Adobe\gnsk_dsp.dll.
Check whether you have the right to open that file.
How can I remove this error?

That one's consistent with disk/file damage. The first thing I'd try with that is running a disk check (chkdsk) over your C drive.
XP instructions in the following document: How to perform disk error checking in Windows XP
Vista instructions in the following document: Check your hard disk for errors
Windows 7 instructions in the following document: How to use CHKDSK (Check Disk)
Select both Automatically fix file system errors and Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors, or use chkdsk /r (depending on which way you decide to go about doing this). You'll almost certainly have to schedule the chkdsk to run on startup. The scan should take quite a while ... if it quits after a few minutes or seconds, something's interfering with the scan.
Does the chkdsk find/repair any damage? If so, can you get an install to go through properly afterwards?

  • Installing iTunes error message: how to resolve?

I have been running iTunes & Quicktime (QT) successfully (unknown versions) until trying to upgrade to iTunes v8.0.2 today. I have confirmed that QT 7.2 Player has installed and is running OK, but no version of iTunes will now install despite following all the uninstall/reinstall procedures posted here and by Apple.
The iTunes installation is wound back after the following error message appears when writing the system registry values: 'Could not open key: HKEYLOCALMACHINE\Software\Classes\.m4a\OpenWith List'. I have administrator rights to Windows and can edit the key but don't know what value to modify.
    Could someone please help?

Are you using the same account as you used when you first installed iTunes?
If you have another admin account, it might be worth trying that.
These odd registry permission problems can sometimes be fixed by repairing the registry permissions using the method in this article:
    http://blogs.msdn.com/astebner/archive/2006/09/04/739820.aspx
If you decide to have a go with it, the tool takes quite a long time to run so be patient with it.
This sort of problem used to crop up quite a lot and the method was very useful then, but the problem seems to have become less common lately.

  • Installing itunes error - 800736FD

    Can someone please help?
When dowloading the new itunes I get the error - HRESULT: Ox800736FD. I have seen B Noir's answers and I know this has something to do with Windows Updates but I cannot manage to rectify this. Previous erros on windows updates history are different to this code (80200010 and 80246005).
    Please help....

Hiya. polydorus asked if I could stop by.
Working on the principle that usually the Windows Update error message often gives a truer account of the underlying cause of things than the iTunes install error, I'm still thinking we might have an issue with the catroot folder.
As well as permissions or things like read-only settings, disk/folder damage might conceivably be stopping files from writing to the folder. So I think we'd better try a disk check (chkdsk) on the C:\ drive.
There's Vista instructions in the following document.
[Check your hard disk for errors|http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-vista/Check-your-hard-disk-fo r-errors]
Select both Automatically fix file system errors and Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors. You'll probably need to schedule the scan to run on restart. The disk check should take quite a while to run (if you're running it on the C). If it quits after a few minutes or seconds, something's interfering with the scan.
Does the disk check find/repair any damage? If so, do your windows updates start installing again?

  • Can't Install iTunes : Error Message "Installer has insufficient Privileges to modify this File" Running Windows Vista

    Hello!
I am currently having issues installing iTunes on BOTH of my computers. One running Vista, the other, Windows 7.
    (Not the same issues)
I used to have iTunes on my Vista (32bit), but when asked to update the software (The update prior to the newest one), I was not able to.
I dont exactly remember the error message.
Yesterday, I tried to install it again when I realized there was a new update.
I am receiving an error message while trying to install the software that says :
"The Installer has insufficient privileges to modify this file: c:\program files\ common files \ apple \ apple application support \ webkit. resources \ inspector \ images \ warnings errors.png
I have tried almost everything I knew to do.
Downloaded itunes setup, extracted the files and tried to install them all separately.
Then I had issues UNinstalling Apple Support and Mobile devices!
Tried something with the registry (not too sure what. I read it on this website)
Tried to Force Uninstall EVERY bit of apple on the computer then try again, and to no avail.
I am a bit discouraged, because I have been trying for so long with both computers.
I even called applecare for help with Windows 7 computer. Spoke to one representative who forwarded me to another who could not help.
(Windows 7 itunes WILL install, but when I plug up my phone says I am not running 64bit itunes, which I am, and to reinstall. Then I was missing the Mobile device and would not let me separately install.)
I am a bit frustrated, and I'd appreciate all of the help I can get.
    Thank You all in advance.

For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down the page in case one of them applies.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.

  • I can't install iTunes error: "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Software/Classes/pcast"

Hi i can't install. iTunes first i want to update and i take this error *"Could not open key :HKEYLOCALMACHINE/Software/Classes/pcast* Verify that you have sufficient access to that key or contact your support personel" and i delete pcast files after that iTunes not opened.I unistalled itunes and i tried to install again. And i take this error again. Please help me !

I found this solution on the Apple Support Forums. Adding the SYSTEM account is what worked for me:
+Let's check your permissions on the key.+
+In your "Start Search" box, type run and click on the Run that comes up. In your run, type regedit and hit enter.+
    +In regedit:+
    +Expand HKEYLOCALMACHINE+
    +Expand SOFTWARE+
    +Expand CLASSES+
+Right-click on pcast and select "Permissions".+
+Select your user account name. Do you have full control of the key? If so, also select SYSTEM. Does the SYSTEM account have full control of the key?+
