Fix Iphone 4s restore error (-1)?

This morning I dropped my Iphone 4s in water and got it out rather quickly. I put the Iphone in rice to dry it out, and it seemed to be working just fine. Later on in the day my signal dropped. Everything else on my Iphone is working perfectly except for the signal. It constantly says "searching" but never actually finds anything.
So trying to fix it I thought I should restart my phone to factory settings to see if that'll work and while trying to do so I got hit with the "Error (-1)" message and it wont continue the restoration.
Is there a way to fix this?
**Also, with the signal problem, I tried a new sim card, tried turning it off and on and a hard restart but that didn't help either.**

Error -1
Attempt to restore your iOS device two more times.
If the issue is still unresolved, the device may need service.

Error -1 generally indicates a catastrophic hardware failure.  You'll need to bring your phone into Apple or whomever provides warranty service for the iPhone in your country.

I am getting the error code "1015" and this webpage is not helping me AT ALL.  Any help? I get the code when trying to restore my iPhone 3G.

This Error Code is indicative of the Device being jailbroken / Hacked...

  • My iphone wont restore error 21. need pictures off my phone help

i dropped my i phone and when pluged into charge you could only see the apple symbol on the screen. i got it into recovery mode but it will not restore or update comes up with error 21. there are pictures of my children on here that i do not see anymore that i need off the phone is there anyway to manage it

You might have a hardware failure because of the shock. If so, you might not be able to recover your pictures. If you do not have a backup your pictures are gone.
Resolve iOS update and restore errors
    Check for hardware issues
    Related errors: 1, 3, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 16, 20, 21, 23, 26, 27, 28, 29, 34, 35, 36, 37, 40, 1000, 1002, 1004, 1011, 1012, 1014, 1667, or 1669.
These errors mean that your device or computer may have a hardware issue that's preventing the update or restore from completing.
Check that your security software and settings aren't preventing your device from communicating with the Apple update server.
Then try to restore your iOS device two more times while connected with a cable, computer, and network you know are good.
Confirm that your security software and settings are allowing communication between your device and update servers.
If you still see the error message when you update or restore, contact Apple support.

  • IPhone 5 restore Error (1)

    To Whom It May Conern,
I recieved an iPhone from a friend recently (iPhone 5) with a shattered screen. It does not work anymore, and the home button is damaged beyond use as well.
The phone is still recognized by iTunes and the PC's I've use it with however.
I also disessembled it to confirm water damage or not. All stickers white, no water damage.
I was told by the person whom gave it to me, I would need to replace the screen but could still restore it and get it ready as it was currently.
I first hooked it up to a Windows 8 pc, and after some driver/software updating, the phone was  recognized/drivers installed/etc., and iTunes had it as able to view Music, Photos, Apps, etc.
I went to factory restore it, updated iTunes/Windows, and now it is getting an error message (1) every time I do this.
I have attempted this a total of about 20 times now, on multiple computers, as well as a Mac. The last attempt was on a Mac, and I saved the error details, as written here:

    Hello everyone,
After dealing with this issue for a few days I was able to fix my issue.
The errors that I was getting were 1 and -1 on an iPhone4 upgrading to IOS 7
I read and tried every fix under the sun it seemed.
The fix for me was the DNS cache (even though I tried it on a different computer)
    Here is the whole story...
I had a working iPhone4 on iOS6 when I started trying to upgrade to the latest version.
I plugged it in to iTunes and hit restore, after an extremely long DL (slow on my end) it failed.
I decided at that time that I would actually start trying and I unplugged all my other USB and used a real apply usb cable as opposed to my long one.
I also updated iTunes to the latest version and hit the restore button in iTunes again.
After another extemely long DL (because turns out my old verison of iTunes downloaded 6.1.3) I tried again.
Error 1 or -1 depending on which time I tried.
I then checked my hosts file and it was good so I tried disconnecting the battery and hitting the power buton a bunch to drain the power and it still failed with error 1.
After maunally downloading the firmware from ipsw downloader i tried again but no results so I downloaded the alternate version of the software for GSM phones which was the incorrect version so didn't even start before it failed.
Frustrated at this point so I get a netbook and throw a fresh copy of windows 7 onto it.
Update all the drivers and various runtimes then installed latest verison of iTunes.
checked the hosts just to be stupid sure it would work and it was good.
    Error 1
So at this point I have waisted two days and I have alreadly replaced the clients phone as "I (meaning apple)" broke it.
So back on my main PC I start from square one and realise that I never actually cleared my DNS cache as it says in many instructions.
So I try that and 10 minutes later I got a brand new phone.
TLDR: Clear your DNS cache in Windows and Mac
Steps I used to fix it
    Apple brand charger
    back/motherboard usb port
    hosts file empty
    dns cache cleared
    dfu mode
Shift click restore button for custom ipsw file / latest version
To clear DNS cache in Windows hit the windows key or button in the bottom right (windows 7) and type CMD
Right click and run cmd as administrator
    type
    ipconfig /flushdns
I fixed mine after giving up so don't give up and don't feed the "unplug it" and "hit buttons at a certain point trolls".
    Good Luck.

  • How to fix iPhone 3G "Random Error 1645".

I kept getting the "Unknown 1645" error. iTunes wouldn't let me update/restore my iPhone. Until I came across this, which worked and now my iPhone is fully operational again. I hope others who are experiencing this "Random Error 1645" come across this thread.
    1. Disconnect your iPhone cable but leave connected the other USB end to the computer.
    2. Turn off your iPhone holding the Sleep/Wake button. The red slider bar appears. Slide the bar and wait until the iPhone turns off. Or you could hold the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons at the same time until the iPhone turns off.
    3. While pressing and holding the Home button connect the USB cable to your iPhone. It should power on. Hold the Home button until you see the "Connect to iTunes" message. Open iTunes if necessary. You should see the "iTunes detected an iPhone in recovery mode..." alert screen.
    4. Choose "Restore".
    Thanks.

The iPhone is not user servicable. You can go to http://www.ifixit.com and get some instruction on how to try if if you want. Given that the 3G has been discontinued for 2 1/2 years, and there isn't much market for it any more, it might be worth your while.
There is no magic that can fix broken hardware.
You can get it replaced by Apple for $149, but at this stage, I think a newer phone would be a better investment.

  • IPhone 4 restoring error (16)

I bought an iPhone 4 a few days ago and went to set it up as per usual. When I set it up, i did it from a back up like usual but from then on ive had nothing but problems. Firstly the set-up didnt work and got an error message that it could not be activated the phone. Tried it again, got same error. Then it ended up in recovery mode, tried to restore the phone, its get to the end of the recovery and get an error message "An unknown error occurred (16)" Entered the phone in DFU mode as well and tried same thing, still get same error message. Tried restoring from both a downloaded iOs and directly off the Apple server for both methods. Nothing seems to work. Anyone have any ideas as to what/where i should do next. Thanks.

Is everyone else on a Windows PC as well? I think this is iTunes Windows PC related... but, here is my story...
I have an iPad 2 that is also getting this error, as others have said, at the very end of the verify process.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes.
I have tried to update from another iTunes account.
I have tried to update from another iTunes account on a different computer.
I tried reinstalling in DFU mode.
I called Apple Care, and they were quite mystified by Error 16 because, as we know, it is undocumented. They seem to think, however, that this is related to other 16XX errors:
    http://www.igeeksblog.com/how-to-fix-itunes-errors-16xx/
Apple Care asked me to remove all my USB devies, dismantle my security software, and remove any firewalls or third-party security software. I did that to the best of my abilities and I got the same message.
I also tried on my husband's laptop, and got error 3194, which is related again to security and firewall settings causing the update server to be unreachable.
This feels wrong to me because I have three other iOS devices (iPhone 4, iPhone 5, iPad 4) and all updated to iOS 7, iOS 7.01, and iOS 7.02 just fine.
I may try to update from work where I may be able to use a Mac. I will let you know if that works.
If not, I guess I'm driving 3 hours to the Apple Store.

  • IPhone 5 restore error (-1) after update attempt

Cant restore my iphone 5 getting this error every time, tried with different macs and one win PC, changed the USB cable, stil no luck..anybody?

As the iPhone 5 is not user serviceable, you have voided the warranty with Apple and forfeited your right to support on that phone, including from this forum.
You'll need to search elsewhere on the internet, such as ifixit.com for a solution to your problem, if one indeed exists.  Again, you can receive no help on this forum.
    Best,

  • I FOUND THE FIX: iPhone Photo Copying Error - Required file cannot be found

This was driving me crazy for weeks.
The solution is quite easy. I noticed that I could import new photos and they would copy. But when I tried to do folders that were there for a while, I would get the error. So I assumed some database had to be corrupt since the photos were viewable in iPhoto. I tried exporting a library and reimporting it and those copied. So I KNEW it was a database issue.
iPhoto creates "iPhone/iPod" versions of any photo you copy to a device. Even when you remove it from the device, it still saves "the iPod" version in case you re-add it. So the solution is to delete all of these versions. I have provided easy instructions.
*Before doing this...make sure to write down which events/albums you keep on your iPhone because doing this will remove all of those selections. You will have to redo them afterwords. But unlike your current situation...it will WORK and actually sync. These directions will require you to delete all of the photos on your device, too (not your camera roll).*
    1. In iTunes UNCHECK "Sync Photos from iPhoto". When it asks you about deleting all of the photos...do it. Let it remove all of your photos.
    2. Eject your iPhone and exit iTunes. Also make sure you have exited iPhoto.
    3. Find the iPhone Library you are using. Right Click and choose "SHOW PACKAGE CONTENTS".
    4. Find the "iPod Photo Cache" folder and delete it.
    5. Go back into iTunes and Re-enable "Sync Photos from iPhoto". Choose what you want to copy...and click sync.
    Viola.

For some reason iPhoto uses *"iPod Photo Cache"* for both devices including your *iPod or iPhone*.
So even if you have an iPhone...follow my directions. The apply to any device. iPhone, iPad, iPod...and its the same for all versions of iPhone and iPod, too.
Right click on your iPhoto library. It still labels it as "iPod Photo Cache" even though you have an iPhone or iPad. I don't know why. Ask our uncle Steve.

  • How fix iPhone encountered unexpected error 0xE8000001 install phase?

Please help ( if there is an iPhone developer forum somewhere please redirect me)!
I can not get even the sample "Hello World" application to download and run on my iPhone device. I have spent hours googling and messing around in the iPhone Developer Program Portal trying to figure out where I went wrong. I get the following error after I build and run:
"Your mobile device has encountered an unexpected error 0xE8000001 during the install phase: Verifying application"
    "Try disconnecting and powering off"
Any tips, resources, or advice is much appreciated. I about to the point to consider wiping and reinstalling my Mac in a hope it may improve whatever I did wrong between SDK1-8.
    Thanks in advance,
    -Ed

Thank you _very much_ for looking at my "Bundle identifier" syntax. I think I am getting closer. I removed the 10-digit prefix from the Info.plist "*Bundle identifier*" setting. My setting is now entered as seen below.
    "*myapp.com.mycompany.${PRODUCT_NAME:identifier}*"
My new challenge is that when I build-and-go it displays the following message in the bottom-left:
"*Failed to start remote debugserver for (null) on Ed's Phone*"
Any advice is much appreciated and I appreciate all others who have added comment to this thread.
    -Ed
For others that are having similar problesm, you can now print out the portal "How to" adventure game. On the portal home page is a link to the following PDF. I am planning on printing out and reading the whole thing and high-lighting all the important bits and steps.

*A tip to check if you have a valid "Code Signing Identity" installed and entered in your project Build settings.*
1 - Select the root folder in your code project
2 - Press the "i" info icon on the tool bar
3 - Go to the *Build* tab
4 - The format of Code *Signing Identity->Any iPhone OS Device* setting is case sensitive and looks like: "*iPhone Developer: John Doe*"
5 - If it is correct, the associated provisioning profile will appear in the drop-down list of the Code Signing *Provisioning Profile->Any iPhone OS Device* setting. If you mess it up, do it intentionally by try adding an extra character, you should see the provisioning profile disappear from the list. If you see no change, you may have a bad developer name(wrong case?) or provisioning profile or profile install problem.
