Fix non-responsive screen

My iPod touch screen is not responding. I had an earlier problem with this which seemed to just resolve itself. I have followed all the advice re updating software, making sure battery is completely charged, restarting, and finally restoring. But nothing works. Has something come loose? Can i fix the problem myself?

Did you already try to set it up "as new device" without using your backup afterwards? How to set up your iPhone or iPod touch as a new device

  • Non-Responsive Screen

While connected (or disconnected) to my PC, thus with a fully charged battery, my Zire 31 touch screen is now either non-responsive or fails to go where directed. As an example I can not move from day to day or month to month. Nor can I move, again using the screen, among contacts. Buttons, however, remain responsive. Attempts to sync are ignored.
    Post relates to: Zire 31

Try touching a drop above/below the center of the target to see if the touch is a drop off on your palm. Tapping three times in the "right" place should get you out of the target screen.
After that, the only other thing you can try is a hard reset. This will wipe off all your info from your palm and restore it to factory settings. If you do not mind losing the info that was not sync'd to your computer, then go ahead and follow these instructions.
Hold down the power button while sticking something thin (a paper clip) into the back reset hole of your device. Keep your hand on the power button while you release the paper clip from the reset hole. The screen will now say "Palm Powered." Take your hand off the power button. You will now see a screen in 5 languages prompting you to erase all data from the palm. The screen will say "erase all data? Yes - up, no - down" and you need to click on the up arrow (silver button on the 5 way navigator on the bottom of the palm). This will erase all the info from your device.
Now, see if your palm responds to the touch. If it does, great! If it does not, then you know you have tried everything and the palm needs to be replaced.

  • 1020 non-responsive screen

My 1020 screen is non-responsive. The OS is working as well as the side keys but I cannot press anything and have it work. I've tried restarting the phone and even reset the phone without any luck. Anything else to try before I have to warranty it?

    Hello, hagjohn.
Welcome to the Nokia Support Discussions.
How was your phone now? Are you still unable to access the screen? When did the issue begin to start? Did something happen to your phone prior to the issue? When did you purchase your phone? Is it happening all the time or just randomly? Did you reset your phone by pressing and holding both the volume down and the power keys until it vibrates? If yes, we suggest to go back to the Point of purchase to have it replaced or you may consider visiting the nearest Nokia Care Point within your area to have your phone checked by our technicians.

  • Resolve iOS 8 issues - lagging, non-responsive screen and on-button, pages not loading, 3G use constantly curtailed.

Since updating my iPad2 with iOS 8 and the subsequent upgrade, my iPad has, ti allintents and purpses, become more of a burden than a useful everyday tool.
Specifically, there are many, many issues that are causing total havoc, namely:
    - pages lag on loading, or simply do not load AT ALL, going back to the App page instead
    - the ON button is non-responsive about 5 times out of 8 that I will want to switch it on
    - the 3G cellular use is virtually non-existant. To use 3G, I first have to go to SETTINGS, then RESET ALL NETWORK SETTINGS, then wait 5 minutes. This will give me between 3 and 26 hours 3G use
    - there is some kind of "jerkinness" when switching between the app page and actual app.
Whereas in the past all functions worked seamlessly, now I find that the iPAD has become totally unreliable. To make matters worse, when I approached the Apple support team nearest to me, I was told that many of these are common issues that have come about with the latest upgrade, and that if I wish, Apple will replace my iPAD2 with a like product for €299.00. As I have not caused the issues through mishandling or mis-use, this should not be replaced AT MY COST. Had I wanted a new one, I'd have bought a new one!!!!!!
Please advise how best to evolve these issues.

Agreed! This bug with the ringtone delay (№4.1) is really annoying

  • Hands free on ios6 - non responsive screen

Is anyone having the same problem as i am with the iphone 5 (ios6). When on hands free, it struggles to multi task and the screen is not responsive to touch or locks up?

This has happened to me at least a half dozen times since I updated to 10.2.2 yesterday morning. Each time I have restarted using the power button. Basically, the same as you are seeing. The mouse moves but when I try to click to select, nothing happens. I can't even get the dock to pop up.

  • Ipod touch with white non responsive screen. Help

My son's Ipod touch was frozen and we rebooted it but that didn't help so I plugged it in to itunes and it now has a white screen and it wont do anything. Can anyone help with this?

    - Try resetting the iPod and then connecting the iPod to your computer.  If it appers in iTunes restore the iPod via iTunes on the computer.
Reset iPod touch:  Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home
button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - If it did not appear in iTunes, place the iPod in recovery mode and then try to restore the iPod.  For recovery mode see:

Thanx Guys. Yes I had restarted the phone when this happened few days ago. It worked fine untill today morning (IST) So I rebooted my phone.
As of now it works fine but was not sure if I should take the piece to the Apple Care centre.

  • Non-responsive screen in TEXT MESSAGES in iPhone 5?

Hi, I've realized with my iPhone 5, it will no longer be sufficient to tap on the "Type a message" dialogue box to prompt the keyboard. Instead I have to swipe it up. Does anyone else experience this?

  • My I pad is non responsive, and the screen is full of coloured stripes. How do I fix that?

My brand new I pad 2 is non responsive and the screen is blac with horizontal coloured stripes.
    How do I fix that?

You could try a reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.
If that doesn't work then other things to try are a restore via your computer's iTunes, and then reset back to factory defaults. If none of them work then you may need to contact Apple.

If you're running OS X 10.8.5 or earlier, then from the menu bar, select
     ▹ System Preferences... ▹ Accessibility
If the checkbox at the bottom marked
    Enable access for assistive devices
is checked, uncheck it and test.

iPad 3 touch screen non responsive. How can I fix this?
I'm trying to use the slide to unlock bar but the iPad 3 touch screen is non responsive. How can I fix this!

I tried that step but it would not work. I think I may have changed a setting.
I was able to highlight a function but had to tap 3 times to get it to respond
to the command. I think it's some type of Restriction or Accessibility settings.
    Any suggestions?

  • Firefox 13 is unusable hanging/non-responsive. I've downgraded flash, uninstalled plugins & un/reinstalled Firefox but I can't use it to try other possibl fixes

Since updating to Firefox 13 it not only runs slow but hangs and becomes non-responsive on all different websites. I was told that the most recent Flash update was known to be incompatible with Ffx 13, so down-dated Flash and uninstalled non-essential plugins - which definitely helped, but has not fixed the problem.
I haven't even been able to try the other potential fixes I've found on the Support site (adding into my computer's safe settings in case of firewall issue or creating a new profile) because Firefox won't work long enough for me to access them. At this point, shouldn't I just down-date to the last version of Firefox??

All of a sudden firefox has become unstable - its hanging on the NYTIMEs website. I've done done everything - uninstalled, reinstalled, removed all add-ons, used default themes, reset firefox. Some serious problem here - I had to switch back to IE9. (Version 16.0.1 Firefox running under Windows 7)
Oh by the way, I'm having the same problem on different computers all of which are running the latest firefox under Windows 7

  • Now that I was sent by Microsoft to your download update site to get the latest version 4.0.1, Firefox crashes (becomes non-responsive) before opening any site page I try. When will you fix this problem?

For two weeks I have tried to use your automatic download of the latest version 4.0.1. It would sit there telling me it is trying to connect to the download computer for hours, several times overnight. Then, it became non-responsive and error messages were sent to Microsoft who directed me to your download site. After downloading your latest version several times, the new page would open. After selecting a bookmarked site, it would open (sometimes only partially) but when I tried to scroll down, it would freeze up and become non-responsive, again prompting error messages to Microsoft. They must be getting a kick out of this. I'm running a Gateway 7200S desktop with Microsoft XP and Intel single range Pentium 4 processor. I have been using your Mozilla Firefox as my default browser for several years with much satisfaction. Unfortunately, whatever upgrades were made have rendered it useless for me.

I have had a similar problem with my system. I just recently (within a week of this post) built a brand new desktop. I installed Windows 7 64-bit Home and had a clean install, no problems. Using IE downloaded an anti-virus program, and then, because it was the latest version, downloaded and installed Firefox 4.0. As I began to search the internet for other programs to install after about maybe 10-15 minutes my computer crashes. Blank screen (yet monitor was still receiving a signal from computer) and completely frozen (couldn't even change the caps and num lock on keyboard). I thought I perhaps forgot to reboot after an update so I did a manual reboot and it started up fine.
When ever I got on the internet (still using firefox) it would crash after anywhere between 5-15 minutes. Since I've had good experience with FF in the past I thought it must be either the drivers or a hardware problem. So in-between crashes I updated all the drivers. Still had the same problem. Took the computer to a friend who knows more about computers than I do, made sure all the drivers were updated, same problem. We thought that it might be a hardware problem (bad video card, chipset, overheating issues, etc.), but after my friend played around with my computer for a day he found that when he didn't start FF at all it worked fine, even after watching a movie, or going through a playlist on Youtube.
At the time of this posting I'm going to try to uninstall FF 4.0 and download and install FF 3.6.16 which is currently on my laptop and works like a dream. Hopefully that will do the trick, because I love using FF and would hate to have to switch to another browser. Hopefully Mozilla will work out the kinks with FF 4 so I can continue to use it.
I apologize for the lengthy post. Any feedback would be appreciated, but is not necessary. I will try and post back after I try FF 3.16.6.

  • My Ipad 2 no longer displays anything. It may come on for a few seconds, but then half of the screen goes completely black, and the system becomes non responsive to all bottons. At other times all four sides of the display becomes black, about 1/4 inch.

Can anyone help me on this one? I got my IPAD 2 in June 2011. It never gave problems until a few days ago. It began to "hang", becoming non-responsive to all buttons. Then just yesterday morning, it went totally black. The display no longer displays. The Battery was charged 96%. I tried the power adapter, but had the same result. I tried the resetting, holding the two buttons for 10 seconds or more but no result. I have already restored it to the factory setting,(via my PC) and put back my apps etc. But after all this I still cannot see anything on the screen.
I know it is still working, because from time to timer I hear the message alerts, and other sounds.
    Waht is the likely solution?

    Try a Reset...
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears. Release the Buttons.
If no joy... Try a Restore...
1: Connect the device to your computer and open iTunes.
2: If the device appears in iTunes, select and click Restore on the Summary pane.
3: If the device doesn't appear in iTunes, try using the steps in this article to force the device into recovery mode.
