Fix PShop CS 8 on Lion ?

so no new fixes from either Adobe or Mac to fix PShop CS 8 on Lion ?
Application just sits in application folder with 'cross' through it! Doesn't work.
Thoughts Jp

Photoshop CS requires a PowerPC processor.  If you are running Lion/10.7 you have an intel processor.  It was possible with 10.6 to run PowerPC applications using Rosetta but that is no longer supported under 10.7.  Some users have manually installed Rosetta but you would want to investigate with Apple on how to possibly accomplish this.  Otherwise I would recommend upgrading to a later version of Photoshop.

    Hello,
It isn't the fw in Network you want o use or look at, that's for something completely different.
My first suspect is the Power Adapter on the LaCie has gone.
At the Apple Icon at top left>About this Mac, then click on More Info, then click on Hardware>Firewire, what is listed there?
    Reset the Firewire bus
If your Firewire or USB isn't recognizing any device.  A solution which has worked for some whose hard drive became invisible in 10.4 was simply to follow these four steps to reset the Firewire/USB bus:
    1. Shut the machine down.
    2. UNPLUG the power lead to the computer and any firewire/USB drive or devices.
    3. leave it for 10 minutes.
    4. Connect back up and reboot.

  • Has a fix been posted for OSX Lion causing Invalid Volume counts?  Post installing OS Lion the new Recovery volume disabled my ExFAT volume shared with Bootcamp

I'm running a dual boot environment with OSX and Win 7.   Before upgrading to OS Lion I had three partitions setup, one for OS SL, WIn7 and a shared ExFAT volume for multual file sharing between the OSs(Worked great!). After upgrading to OS Lion my shared volume was blocked out from Windows but remained visible to Lion.  The Partition boundaries appear to be currupted by the newly added "Recovery HD" Partition that comes along with the Lion installation.  This inserted volume has also started a chain of error in Disk Untility indicating "Invalid Volume File Counts".   This can be cleaned up by Disk Utility using the installation CD or ironically the Recovery HD partition.  The repair is only good for one reboot than the invalid Volume error returns.  Windows seems fine outside of the lost shared volume but if you try to format the free space left behind by the partition issue major issues happen.  Formatted actually creats a Dynamic disk switch and toasts all three volumes.   OS Lion seems to be a wounded animal as I now have to reboot twice to get Lion to load up after setting up bootcamp.  The problem is the partitions and OS Lion new Recovery HD.  What I need is a fix to stabilize the OS Lion partition and restore the shared volume.
    Pete

There are hundreds of postings describing your error and how to resolve it so I won't rehash those here. Use the search at the top right of this page to search for your error.
But I will advise you that Windows 7 32bit will not work satisfactorily for you. You said you have 8GB ram. 32 bit Windows will not address more than about 2.5GB to 3GB of your ram. You need to install the 64 bit Windows 7 in order for Windows to use all your ram.
When you bought the retail Windows 7 operating system it should have had two disks in the package, one being 32 bit and the other being the 64 bit version of Windows 7.

Is there some kind of patch or fix for mac lion. HELP.

That file could be set as a Launch Agent or Daemon in your ~/Library or /Library, You could try to look for it or Safeboot your computer and then empty the trash. • Installing RAM fixed my *very* slow Mountain Lion

I recognize this isn't really a practical "fix" for many people but I just wanted to share my experience.
Bought a new Mid-2012 15" MBP (2.3 GHz i7 with 4GB RAM) with Mountain Lion installed direct from Apple, set it up by migrating my accounts, data, etc. from an older MBP running Lion. I was very disappointed with how appallingly slow everything was, particularly when logging in, switching user accounts, and Safari. It was all just crawling crawling along. My plan all along was to upgrade the RAM anyway so I installed 8GB and now.........
My cold boot went from 80 seconds down to 48, and my user account login from the main screen went from 35 seconds down to 8! Switching accounts also is now almost instant, 1-2 seconds as opposed to a grey screen as it transitioned for anywhere from 15-20 seconds previously.Safari is also now zipping along.
I don't know if something else resets or updates when you add RAM, or if all the difference can just be attributed to the additional RAM, but the difference has been HUGE! Much much more than I was expecting. I also don't know how much of my problem was related to migrating my data with all its possible conflicts and left over bits and pieces from 3+ years of use.

I'm using a 2.97GHz i7 with 8GB RAM and the problem still exists. Its a shame really, I've been using windows via bootcamp for months and was just starting to like OSX again....

  • Fix for FOND error on Lion

I just upgraded my system from Leopard to Lion and I noticed that now my Univers fonts will not activate.  When I went to Fontbook I noticed that all of my Univers fonts come up with the same error message 'FOND' font association unability and now it will not activate or install.  I went through several other forums and found that this error was common on Leopard but I haven't found any mention of it on Lion.  There also does not seem to be any available fixes for Lion according to my searches.
I attempted to reinstall the font with a new version of the Univers CE family but that refused to install because the older font that was having issues with Lion was still installed (albeit not working).  I attempted to remove the non-functional font and then reinstall the new one and that still did not work.  If there is a way to just force Lion to install the font despite the FOND error that would be preferable.
This is highy inconvenient since the Univers font family is what I use the most in Quark and now I will have to manually switch over to another font for my files to display correctly.  It is not the entire Univers font family that is affected by this glitch, only the Univers fonts that have CE in them.  According to all of the reports I've seen with Leopard, this issue is caused by it not recognizing bitmaps or something like that.  If anyone can offer any insight on how I can fix this I would be very appreciative.

kirchoff - if you still have an issue with the font, have you completely cleared the font cache by restarting your mac in safe mode? I'm wrestling with FOND errors in Lion myself and that has alleviated 'some' of my problems. my other problems are related to screen fonts that have multiple weights contained within the file and internal names that don't resolve well...but i digress. good luck!

  • How I fixed memory management fails on Lion

    MAC:
    17" i7 2.66GHz Macbook Prom Mid 2010
    SYMPTOM:
The Free memory was always dropping and I needed to use FREE MEMORY APPS from Apps Store. The beach ball was frequent. The speed is so slowly from OS X Snow Leopard, even I made a Permissions Fix, it takes a lot to start and shut down. The memory drops on every app I open and the system can't free them after I quit the apps.
    WHAT I DO:
I made a backup, formated and installed a free new copy of OS X Lion and SOLVED all the memory drops.
    IMPRESSIONS:
I have 8GB of RAM in my  and now I see at least FREE 5.5GB RAM CONSTANTLY (navigating web, without use of huge memory hungry background apps). I'm another 17" MBP Mid 2009 owner with 4GB RAM and noted that it was faster. Both with the last version of Lion. Not now after the new copy of Lion my mac is pretty fast again There is no aparent issues about Lion Memory Management as people are discussing.

Yes, a brody and thanks for your link. In this Mac I installed an old HP scanner driver
I'm very concearned about people saying don't upgrade to Lion, it's a big liar! You don't need to put your mac to sleep as people said to don't waste time on boot. I imagine boot process is very useful for system reset and evaluate hardware status.
I made a lot of reboots to certificate the speed boost, I imagine the system makes it to diagnose any problems and fix itselves.
I feel the boot and shutdown is becoming fast as I use it since the first boot of reinstaled Lion.
Only one issue (solved) is about installing Epson printer that couldn't print wirelessly.
It was solved just clicking at OSX X UPDATE SOFTWARE and it discovers an needed Epson Driver Update for Lion.
Very happy again with my mac.

  • WHEN IS APPLE GOING TO FIX PARENTAL CONTROLS for Mountain lion?

I have contacted Apple Support to be told "they" are not aware of the problem.  Could everyone experiencing the same issue of timelimits and bedtime controls not working as they should (i.e in the previous OS) please inform Apple support of this frustrating BUG.  I want to use the control together as I had done until I upgraded.  It is not right that I am expected to compromise by having on one control operational (either time or bedtime limit).  I cannot believe the supposely market leader could be "unaware" of this problem.  Where is the quality control?  And why is it taking so long to fix?
