FIX THE GREEN BUTTON!
OK, do we all agree that the green button in the upper-left corner is completely worthless? I think it's meant to me a "minimize / maximize window" button, but it does jack. So, after all the brouhaha about Apple and its advances, can anyone tell me why, I have to, say, in order to maximize Safari, drag the whole window to the upper-left corner, and then manually drag out the window from the lower-right corner?
Apple -- please fix this button or excise it forever!
Maybe you misunderstand the button's purpose.
The button is not meant to 'maximize' the window - at least not to fill the screen, which is what I'm guessing you're after.
What it does is tell the application to optimize the window based on its current content.
What that optimization actually is is application dependent (and, admittedly, they don't always get it right).
In the case of Safari, since you mention it, an 'optimized' window is one that shows the complete width of the page (if it fits across the screen), plus as much height of the page as possible (assuming it's longer than the screen is tall).
For a practical example, take these discussion boards. Apple have designed the page layout (headers, sidebar, etc.) to be approximately 1,000 pixels wide.
Therefore, clicking the green button when reading this post will optimize your window so that the content is a little over 1,000 pixels wide, thus optimizing the window size - it is as wide as it needs to be, but doesn't take more space than it needs.
So now you realize that you'll understand the issue is not with Apple but with application developers and how they choose to interpret an optimal window size.

It's normal for links to open in the same tab as you browse if you left-click. You can Ctrl+click or middle click to open a link in a new tab. Are either of those broken?
Some sites let you use a regular left click to open a link in a new tab (example: Google search settings), and some add-ons may change link behavior. Can you check whether one of your add-ons has been disabled?
Tools > Add-ons > Extensions
Also, if you use the Ask toolbar, try disabling it and see whether that makes any difference. -

The green button that shrinks and restores the size of Firefox quit working--after it had been working for some time. I went thru the troubleshooting steps and reinstalled Firefox and it still does not work. The individual windows will shrink and enlarge but not Firefox. The orange button to minimize it works as does the red button to shut it. How can I fix it?

the green button, top left corner of a pop-up screen on MACbook, it's supposed to enlarge the pop-up to full MAC screen size, correct? Mine does not. Sometimes it makes the pop-up screen SMALLER. Appreciate someone solving this for me.
Are you talking about the green '+' button in the top left corner? That technically doesn't enlarge it. It switches the window from the default window size to the custom size you made. You can enlarge the window by moving your mouse to the bottom right corner of the window, and dragging until you get the size you want.

Hi All - I sent an sms using my iphone 5 - It is PAYG and had no money in it. (stupidly)
It tried to send as an SMS but gave the 'green button reject message'.(no money)
Step 2 in this stupidity - the phone keeps trying to send the deleted text via SMS and wont stop notifying me of this. Totally ruining the functionallity of my phone, and more so totally annoying. All I want to do is stop the constant re-trying of sending the deleted SMS.
Any ideas?

I can restore to a previous version however I'll lose my paid apps. Is there any way to work around this. I'm only concerned about one app - Epocam HD which I purchased last month. My last backup on PC is 4 March 13 - before I bought the paid app - Itunes advises me I'll have to re-pay to get my apps (app) back. Even though it advises that icloud backed up this morning at 1:30 am (which although it is before the text, I cannot manually select this restore).

When I double click Home button to change apps quickly, only the four apps that reside on the task bar show. All of my apps would show prior to my reset of the iPad last night (to fix the Home button). Any ideas on how to fix?
My undertanding is that when you double-click the home button, the apps that are shown are those that are currently active. The reason you are not seeing all of them is that not all of them are active. Before you can access an app in the multitask bar, it has to be turned on first. As a test, try accessing the Notes application. Return to the home screen by clicking the Home button ONCE. Once the home screen appears, double click the home button to bring up the multitasking bar. The Notes app should be on the far left.

Please refer to the attached 2 pictures, they are the similar, just the size is defferent. (pass.PNG, 5478 pass.PNG).
But now i try to use IMAQ Detect Circles to catch the GREEN button. For pass.PNG, it works fine, but for another sample, it is always fail to detect this button.
I also try to change the Curve Parameters and score as input, but still failed. Another way, i also try to use IMAQ find circles function, but the result is worse than IMAQ Detect Circles, so give up.
The code is detect the circles.png, copy it to block diagram enough.
So, what is the root cause? Thanks for help.

The curve extraction mode if change it to Uniform mode, u can get the result.
-Suggestion, if you want to use the entire image region as ROI no need to get the image size, getting rectangle and converting it to ROI descriptor. (I think this is unnecessary)
-Be careful with color plane extraction, u're using by default which is Red plane. In this example it's fine. but make sure u know which plane u're extracting.

I'd like a kbd shortcut that mimics the green button in Mac OSX windows.
I'm aware that I can assign a custom shortcut to this very function in OSX's System Preferences, but such a shortcut won't work in Firefox, even after restarting it.
So is there a Firefox keyboard shortcut that maximizes/minimizes a window the way the green button does it for all OSX windows?

Make a backup, then restore it as new, via iTunes.
If that fails, then contact Apple to get the device serviced/replaced. -
I recently upgraded to Mavericks and i hate that every time i press the +/green button on the top left, the page goes fullscreen. How can i go back to it just making the window bigger instead of fullscreen.
Hold down Option key and click the Green button. It will change from the Full Screen button back to a Zoom button.
You can also double-click the empty area in the window frame (title bar) if you don’t have it set to minimize when double-clicking. -

Try a clean installation of the flash plugin/activeX as follows.
First, download the Flash uninstall utility on the link below and save it to your Downloads folder.
Flash Player Uninstaller.
When the download has completed, close all browser windows, open your Download folder and run the uninstaller. After this has completed, restart the notebook.
When windows has reloaded, download and install the latest version of Adobe Flash. Note: You may want to deselect the option to include McAfee Security Scan Plus before downloading.
When the installation has completed, restart the notebook.
If the above doesn't correct the issue, then try the following.
First of all, download and run the Shockwave uninstaller on the link below.

After this has completed, restart the notebook.
When windows has fully reloaded, download and install the latest version of Shockwave on the following link.
http://get.adobe.com/shockwave/

HT2188 How can I fix the home button on my iPod touch?
I have a 4th generation iPod touch that is about almost 2 years old. I've never dropped it on a hard surface like concrete or hardwood floors, just a few times on my carpet. It's never been scratched, never had water damage or anything like that. It's in pretty good condition, and runs pretty smoothly, except my home button doesn't work!
I know several people with the same iPod who have similar problems - their home button doesn't work. When I'm in an app, like the Music app, and I hit the home button to get back to my home screen, it doesn't work.
I've looked it up on the internet - I've seen several videos on YouTube (like turning the iPod off, entering an original app like Weather or Notes and then holding the lock button down until the "slide to power off" button came up, and then holding the home button down until it went away to 'calibrate' the home button, and locking my iPod and then clicking the lock screen and home button at the same time - which worked for me a few times, but after like a day or two, the button stopped working) and I've also Googled it and heard that rubbing alcohol on a q-tip would clean any gunk out from underneath the home button. I've never tried the alcohol one out of fear that I'd really ruin the button.
I've also read that there might be dust under there or gunk that should be cleaned by a professional...
But my dad says that it's too tight of an area around the button for anything to get lodged under there. I am currently updating the iPod to iO5 or whatever the new update is to see if it makes any difference.
I'm just trying this forum as a last result to see if there is anyone out there with a similar problem that has fixed it themselves to quell the problem permanently. If not, then I suppose I'll be forced to take it to the Apple Store and see if they can fix it.

earlier i was bored and decided to open my iPod Nano 6th Generation to see if i could fix the broken sleep button, i think when i was removing the battery i might have beat it up a little, and idk if i did anything wrong to the logic board, now when i connect it it says, "USB Device Not Recognized, One of the USB devices attached to this computer has malfunctioned and Windows does not recognize it" and it gets hot when i charge it and the music doesnt play even if i use the headphones with controls on them, it was working fine earlier:(
They are pretty much designed to fail after about a year so you will have to buy a replacement. I would suggest an earlier model or to take your business elsewhere. I have gone through my fourth and final ipod nano 6th generation.

How do I fix the "Remove" button for my Netflix instant queue?
I cannot remove items from my Netflix Instant Queue through Apple tv, because the button that should say "Remove" says instead "+ Queue". This is true even when I am in the "Instant Queue" area of Netflix on Apple tv. I have tried restoring to factory settings, but this did not fix the problem. Any thoughts? Thanks!
This is the second time this has happened to me this summer, too!! Since I have two apple tvs set up and it has happened simultaneously on both each time, it's clearly a Netflix/ATV issue and it needs to be resolved. This must be affecting far more people than just the few who have commented on this site, yet Google searching reveals almost no hits for this issue. Last time it just magically resolved itself one morning. It isn't happening with my PS3...
