Fix this if you can
So I've got a new MacBook Pro and my primary problem is Aperture. Before I tell you what's happening let me say that it has been into Apple repair twice with no success. I have wiped the HD at least 3 times and installed nothing but the OS and Aperture and still the problems.
Now here's what's happening:
Aperture first starts to slow down. It can happen in 5 minutes, it can happen in 30, it can happen after 90 minutes BUT it will start to slow down. Then the leveling and spot controls start to get jumpy making it almost impossible to use them. Then the keyboard commands such as the H key start to fail or I type H and 4 seconds later the HUD appears. Finally it just quits without the cursory 'this application has unexpectedly quit'. Also the fan is running in vacuum cleaner mode.
I take it into the Apple store and they keep it overnight and tell me they used Aperture without any problem and I get it to fail an hour later when I get home. This happens if the Aperture library is on the internal HD or an external HD. When I connect my external HD to my girlfriend's older MacBook Pro, Aperture just flies and I can work for hours without a problem.
What's wrong?
1) Do you have a lot of photos in a few projects or a few photos in many projects? Aperture is quicker when projects are kept smaller. I personally have one project per photo shoot.
2) The Spot/Patch and Straighten tools are very intense and zap a lot of power from Aperture. Are you doing extensive spotting/patching or straightening when working on your photos?
3) Have you done extensive spotting/patching or straightening in the past on a large Project you currently use a lot? Maybe Aperture is trying to keep up and remember all of those calculations.
4) Are you doing the same kind of work on your girlfriend's computer as you are doing on your own? If not, try to figure out the differences. Or maybe just trade computers with your girlfriend!
5) Maybe Aperture on YOUR MacBook Pro is set-up to build PREVIEWS. If so, that may cause a slowdown, especially when trying to make a lot of adjustments.
6) There is a Preference that makes Aperture create a new version every time a slider is moved on the adjustments HUD. This makes Aperture slow since it generates thumbnails for each of these versions. I would be sure that preference is turned off.
Also, I doubt the Apple people are putting it through your same workflow, so that probably is not a good indicator.
Does it also happen on your MacPro 3.0?

How do you fix this error? Can't access photos----" Your photo library is either in use by another application or has become unreadable"
Try this: launch iPhoto with the Option key held down and create a new, test library. Import some photos and check to see if the same problem persists. If you can create and use a new library then your current library is damaged.
If that's the case make a temporary, backup copy (if you don't already have a backup copy) of the library and apply the two fixes below in order as needed:

Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
Select the options identified in the screenshot.
Fix #2
Using iPhoto Library Manager to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
Download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
Click on the Add Library button, navigate to your Home/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File ➙ Rebuild Library menu option
In the next window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments but not books, calendars or slideshows. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.

Was the iPod previous synced to another iTunes library/computer?
Have you successfully synced from this iTunes library/computer before?
Do the songs play in iTunes?
Do you have the right boxes checked to sync?

YouTube will not work on safari for me on the ipad. Is there anyway to fix this? I can go anywhere else on the internet fine and it works on google chrome, but on safari it shows a blank screen with the bar on top after it loads, if it's even loading at all.
I do not know if it's relevant or not, but I got a message on my ipad while on safari saying that my iPhone has a virus. I looked it up and it seems it might have just been an ad from the website I was on, but it happened around the same time YouTube stopped working.You will find that using the YouTube app will provide a better viewing experience for YouTube videos.

I have a mac book pro and have already downloaded adobe flash player. However when i go to watch a video it says "Blocked Plug In". But my adobe is already up to date. Can someone help me to fix this so i can watch videos?
If you're sure you've installed the latest version of Flash, take each of the following steps that you haven't already tried. After each step, relaunch Safari and test. For a "missing plug-in" error, start with Step 7. Back up all data before making any changes.
Step 1
You might have to log out or reboot before a Flash update takes effect.

In the Safari preference window, select
Privacy ▹ Remove All Website Data
Close the window. Then select
▹ System Preferences… ▹ Flash Player ▹ Advanced
and click Delete All. Close the preference pane.

If you get a "missing plug-in" error, select
Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Security
from the Safari menu bar and check the box marked
Allow (or Enable) plug-ins
Then click the button marked
Manage Website Settings...
if present and make sure that the website is not blocked for Flash.

Select

I installed elements 12 on a Win 8.1 computer and moved all my photos from my old XP machine. I updated to elements 12.1. Now, many/most of my photos will not open because I do not have "permission" to open the files. How do I fix this so I can work with MY photos?
Yes, the Old Master file has a folder for each year where I find all photos from that specific year. I am attaching a screen shot of the file.
In the meantime i have managed to download all photos (it did not download any video files though in mpg, avi, 3gp, m4v,mp4 and mov format) to a new iphoto library. Unfortunately the photos are quite mixed and often doubled up. I ma considering to purchase iphoto library which checks all duplicates in iphoto. this will save me a lot of time. What do you think? -

My new Photoshop Elements 12 has a RAW file plug-in, but when I try OPEN to select a photograph, there are only generic icons instead of pictures-- I can't tell one photograph from another! How can I fix this so I can tell which photograph I want to open? Thank you!

The first thing I did was UPDATE. I have all the latest updates available (according to the updater). The Camera Raw Plug-in says it is version 8.0.
The RAW files are from a Canon T3i. It's a very common camera, I can't believe it wouldn't be supported. -
I just updated my iTunes and now I get a message that the application has failed to start because MSVCR80.dll was not found. What happened and how do I fix this? I can't access any of my music now.
Click here and follow the instructions. You may need to completely remove and reinstall iTunes and all related components, or run the process multiple times; this won't normally affect its library, but that should be backed up anyway.

I restored my pc and now it won't open itunes, when i try to, it reads " this version of itunes has not been correctly localized for this language. please run the english version." how do i fix this so i can open my itunes and back up my iphone?

It sounds like you've restored Windows on your PC and iTunes is no longer opening and running normally.
I'd recommend using the instructions found at step 4 and 5 in this article to repair or remove/reinstall your iTunes installation:

When starting Final Cut Pro 7.0.3 I am all of a sudden getting a message that says "One or more of the scratch disks don't have read/ write access" and now the app won't operate - how do I fix this so I can use Final Cut Pro?
Glad you found the answer. But something seems wrong. FCP should be able to assign the scratch disk to your startup drive. It's not advisable, but it should be possible. You might want to try and figure out what's going on before what ever's going on cause other problems.
