Fixed 2755 / 1624 / 1311 errors after a year of tutility...

I think others are out there who went through the unbelievable frustration getting new Java updates to be installed (no thanks to Sun). I was getting the errors on both my machines for at least a year. Here's what finally worked for me.
1. Save the file at the link below to your desktop:
javadl.sun.com/webapps/download/GetFile/1.6.0_03-b05/windows-i586/jre1.6.0_03-iftw.msi
Note: If the link doesn't work, run the java install program and when you get the 2755/1624 error, write down the URL that comes up. Then go to that location and save the resulting msi file.
2. Go here and download each of these to your desktop (Sun needs to make these files more easily available, I think I found these locations on some German web site by mistake).

3. Now run the msi file that you downloaded. The install should now get all the way through and you'll be updated to the latest version of Java.

I continue to get this aggravating error with every single Java update-- on all my machines. And it only happens with the Sun installer, never with any other (i.e. imo, this is NOT an installshield issue). Nevertheless, since Sun seems uninclined to ever fix it, it now appears that what works is to download the offline version and run it. When the 2755 / 1624 error appears, note the name of the .msi file. Do a hard drive search on that name (it'll be something like jre1.6.0_05.msi). Once the file appears If it doesn't work to just run it, do a right click on the file and "open containing folder," then run it. I can get the install to work that way.

I now get a external monitor error after a year

I have been using an external lcd monitor for about a year and this week I started getting an error after I plugged it in for a while. It would work for 1-4 hours and then the external monitor would say that the frequency was not supported. At this point my MB would freeze and when I tried to restart it, it would not turn back on. The AC cord was plugged in, so the only thing I could do was remove the battery for a couple of minutes and restart.
Each time I plugged the external monitor in it would work for a bit and then freeze again. I tried a different monitor and it froze as well and gave me the error box "optimal resolution is 900x1440 60mz. I tried again and made sure it was detecting the correct monitor in system preferences and that they matched the recommended specs, everything was correct.
ANY IDEAS?
I don't know what to try, like I said it worked for a whole year without any problems. And my 1 year warranty expired 9 days ago.

Are you connecting over VGA or DVI? I take it you're using the same Apple adapter that you've had for a while? What was the other monitor that also didn't work? Was it also the same connection type?
It's probably worth bringing the computer and the monitor into an Apple Retail Store and having them have a quick look. I think the only problem, is that if it takes 1-4 hours to occur, a GB appointment is only 15-20 minutes long.
Can you maybe grab a screen shot when the issue occurs?

Have you tried using a different brand of optical disk? (You don't say whether you are doing CDs or DVDs.) Some are better than others.

Is there any way of fixing this? I've tried the usual: triple checked all vga cables & devices through trial & error. Bought a new DVI-VGA adapter. Reset PRAM, PMU, etc. Nothing works. Something is probably damaged, because my KVM switch was not working unless I hot-reseated the vga cable into it, leading to this DVI port, and that is pretty rough stuff.

This dovetails into this: Can I drive a VGA monitor with the s-video output port on this computer. It would take an s-video (male)-to-15-pin-VGA adapter. Has anyone does this? So far, I haven't even found the adapter mentioned anywhere.

Thanks for the useful feedback, Knucklesmac. I agree. I must have blown something on the logic board -- because I had a faulty old KVM switch that would not switch between computers without some nasty hot-plugging/unplugging the VGA video cables. (wince!). It's like when Dizzy Dean ruined his arm because a line drive hit him in the foot and he readjusted his mechanics around the injury. I take the blame because this has been a great computer, and does not deserve any blame.

Possiable fix for errors after rel

After reading heaps of people getting BSOD and errors after a reload I have a thought.
Before you reload, remove the card. Then reload and install all other drivers first like chipset and video.
Now after all this install the card but the drivers yet, just let windows do it thing. After this ( proberly wont install anything ) reboot again. Now install the drivers.

I just thought of this after a freinds Lan card would not work after a reload, so i removed it, reloaded then put the card back in and all is fine.

BatteriesNotIncluded: you are the man. your steps worked like a charm for me. for others trying this, I also was having the issue where the restore would just hang half to 3/4 of the way through. there was no error message, and the only way to kill it was to force quit itunes and manually reset the phone.
it was quite a time consuming fix to have to reinstall itunes, but i wish i had known about this before i tried restoring for the 6th time.

Control Panel > Programs n Features (Win7) or Add n Remove Programs(XP) > highlight AAS, click CHANGE then REPAIR.

After 4 Years and Multiple OS Upgrades, I have a serious problem. My users mail stores have suddenly dissappeared.
I tried using the only tools available to the GUI: Reconstruct Button, and Restore Button.

Unless you have actual drive failure and data is missing, your Cyrus database is broken and needs to be reconstructed.
You can donwload a utility called "mailbfr" from here:

(The script mentioned by Ralph is deprecated and its functionality has been incorporated in mailbfr)
Install it as described in the enclosed docs.
1. Use it to make a backup (mailbfr -b)
2. Next use it to fix your database (mailbfr -f)

If the notebook worked prior to an update -- and this is an entirely different can of worms and problems -- and you think that there is any chance the notebook is just in some sort of "tangled" state and not completely hosed for some reason, you can try the following non-lethal device reset:
Create a Restore Point: Create a Restore Point – Win7 OR Create a restore point Win8
If you are using a Notebook:
Close all your programs and shut down the computer
Disconnect everything (little Unifier for the keyboard / external mouse can stay)
Perform the Hard Reset for your notebook model
Boot the computer and log in
Reminder: Hard Reset is just a device Reset. The procedure does not wipe out your files nor does it destroy your Windows setup in any way. This type of reset "clears the cobwebs". Depending on the root cause of the problem, this procedure can fix a variety of computer glitches.
This does not fix severe Operating System errors -- it is just a device reset. It can fix minor problems that updates sometimes cause.

Hi All, I encountered these sudden Mapping errors after I tried to do Testing in Post Upgrade Sand Box. Here I am trying to to perform Collected Reported Financial Data under Data Collection Method for a particular Company Code 3040. Kindly help me with some quick responses as this is kind of high priority. The errors and the Diagnosis Notes I am unable to follow as I do not where I shall write those Mapping Rules they are referring to. I do not even know if that need to apply any SAP Notes as such. Could you Kiindly advise me where we need to write the Mapping Rules in Consolidation Monitor? All he time the errors refering to Mapping Rules. The only Tab I seen "Mapping" is in Data Basis But as per my Understanding Iwe do not have much to do there as it is system generated Mapping Tab.
Where we actually go and select/deselct those Input Conversion Indicator/ Conversion exit Indicator.

Epson R2400 'Filter' failed error after 10.8.2 Update

After the recent 10.8.2 update my Epson R2400 printer fails when printing with a 'Filter' failed error. Everything was working normally beforehand (10.8).
I've rebooted printer.
I've removed and installed printer in the control panel.
I can get the printer to print with the opensource gutenprint driver ( http://sourceforge.net/projects/gimp-print/files/ ) but it doesn't handle color profiles correctly which is just as bad as not being able to print at all.
Any ideas?

Just to follow up. I've now confirmed this issue on several machines. The Epson drivers installed by apple will always lead to 'Filter failed error'.

After install it will fix the problem, but annoyingly after you install it software update will keep prompting you to install a new set of Epson printer drivers... don't do it, you'll start getting the error again.

After 2 years of trouble free use I can no longer access Facebook on my iPhone4 although I can access it on my laptop which is supposedly synced with my iPhone, anyone out there able to help please.

the clue is in the message title i.e. after two years successful and trouble free use I am suddenly unable to access Facebook on my iPhone 4 whereas I can still access it on my PC which I keep synced with my iPhone. Have you recently used any midi controller with Logic.. such as a hardware controller or even an iPad app.
If you used an iOS app, power down (Not just put to sleep) your iOS device and see what happens.. If that fixes it you are running an iOS controler in the background and so you will need to close it..

Failing that, quit Logic and trash the Control Surface pref file.... restart Logic and see if that cures it..
In the Finder, choose Go > Go to Folder from the menu.
Type ~/Library/Preferences in the "Go to the folder" field.
Press the Go button.
Delete the com.apple.logic.pro.cs file from the preferences folder.
