Fixed asset upgrade

Hi
Does anyone have experience in accounting for as asset upgrade (which is a subsequent cost)?
My client has added this subsequent cost to the orginal asset and is stating that depreciation should be calculated on the Net Book value instead of Original cost + subsequent cost. However I am concerned whether this is the correct way.

Hi,
Depreciation calculation will depend on the method of calculation on has opted, say written down value or straight line method. If your claint is following wdv, then depreciation will be calculated on the net asset value(of original capitalised amount) plus subsequent cost. Otherwise if the depreciation is on the straight line method, depreciation will be calculated on the gross value of original capitalistion plus subsequent cost. The depreciation key will normally take care the depreciation calculation.

I would to gain some knowledge from anyone who has been through a Fixed Assets Upgrade from 10.7 SC to 11i. In particular, I need to understand the steps involved, estimate for the total task, lesson learnt, any technical issues, any relevant training that may be useful and any advice for this task. We have completed our first upgrade of FA from 10.7 SC to 11i. Most issues arose from the introduction of WorkFlow for Account Generator. In addition we have had difficulty activating the "security by book" new feature. This is still under investigation. We upgraded PO, AP, FA and GL. I can say that more than half of our time has been spent resolving FA issues.
The length of time the task will take will depend on which functionality you use. Have you seen the upgrade kit on metalink? it has all the upgrade steps. From that you could determine how many steps you need to perform.

Error 1628 when installing upgrade of Fixed assets

'Error 1628' Failed to installed is occuring when installing upgrade of Fixed assets to PL100.

Dear Lisa，
In order to try to resolve the issue, please do the following steps :-
1. Go to Start   > Run   > %temp%, then delete all the files present in
the temporary directory.
2. Then Reboot your machine.
3. Reinstall the FA addon as per following:
o Start SAP Business One. Log on to the appropriate company.
o Choose 'Administration' -> 'Add-ons' -> 'Add-on Administration'.
o Remove the add-on(s) from the company by marking them and
   clicking the left arrow button.
o Choose 'OK'.
o Close SAP Business One.
o In Microsoft Windows, choose 'Start' -> 'Control Panel' -> 'Add
   or Remove Programs'.
o Check if any SAP Business One add-on(s) are displayed in the
   list.
o If an add-on is included, uninstall it by choosing 'Remove'.
o Using Windows Explorer, locate to the add-ons installation
   folder. Depending on the different versions of SAP Business One,
   the default installation folder is 'C:\Program Files\SAP
   Manage\SAP Business One\AddOns\sap' or 'C:\Program Files\SAP\SAP
   Business One\AddOns\sap'.If you chose a different folder during
   the installation process, locate that folder. Delete all
   subfolders (folders named like the add-ons) and, if present, the
   "_common" folder (which contains the framework for add-ons).
o Locate to the SAP Business One installation folder. The default
   installation folder is 'C:\Program Files\SAP Manage\SAP Business
   One' or 'C:\Program Files\SAP\SAP Business One'. If you chose a
   different folder during the installation process, locate that
   folder.
o Open the following files : 'AddOnsInstall.sbo' and
   'AddOnsLocalRegistration.sbo' in Notepad and
   delete the imformation related to Fixed assets only,
    then save the file.
   Note: If you only installed fixed assets ,that means no other add-on installed ,you can completely Delete   the above files.
o Start SAP Business One.
o Log on to the appropriate company.
o Choose 'Administration' -> 'Add-ons' -> 'Add-on Administration'.
o Reassign the add-on(s) to the company.
o Choose 'OK'.
o Restart SAP Business One.

Upgrade the DB from 2007A to 8.8 PL 10- Error in Fixed Assets Master Data

Dear Expert,
we r using smoothly Fixed Assets Add-on in 2007A environment, Now we are upgrade to SAP B1 8.8 SP00 PL10. When i view the Fixed Assets Master Data by choosing from List Its shows all of my master data list, but when i select any of them system shown nothing in FA Master Data form , please guide

Hi,
I think the addon is corrupted. have you reinstall B1 addon ? if you have reinstalled but it is still as same, I suggest to upgrade the B1 version and the addon to the latest i.e. SAp B1 8.8 SP00 PL16. You can also log a message to SAP support but test this case first in the SAP B1 8.8 SP00 PL16 environment.

Hi Gurus, I have a question about this note referent at Fixed Asset , in the next topic:
After release upgrade the import has to be repeated for the new
release.
Please take the transport from SAPSERVx, path:

Directory note.0113711 contains the following transports files:

The first part of the note refered at release 3.0 and 4.0.
I have worked the version 5.0, and in the Note 113711 there is a paragraph that says:
"If you want to transport the INPCs values into the ZINPC table, please
AFTER having transported the previous files, transport files:
R900248.LD3
K900248.LD3
which contains the INPCs values since 1950.
- For Rel. 4.0B and after, please transport:
R900040.LD1
K900040.LD1
In rel. 4.0B and after, the program uses the INMA indexes tables. There is no need to create a table ZINPC anymore to maintain the INPCs values.
The Index that the program uses is the general one defined in the Inflation Method for the company code for FI. It uses the definive values of it."
My question is if I have download the files *.LD3 for release subsequent at 4.0 because I actually have worked version 5.0 of SAP R/3.

Cannot Start Fixed Asset Addon

Hi...
I got below error when I start the Fixed Asset AddOn.
*Entry Point Not Found.
The Procedure Entry Point

This happened after I installed the FA.
The installation process just ok, but there are no UDTs created at all.
I have uninstalled the SAP Client & Server then re-install the new one but still got the same error.
Initially I installed the FA version 6.80.01.75 but failed.
The I re-installed with the FA version 6.80.01.11 but still failed.
Please let me know if you have any ideas to fix it.

The BFFramework.dll error message has been known to occur intermittently for some installations. The Add Ons seem to get 'confused', especially after an upgrade.
The steps provided below should resolve the issue:
1. Uninstall the Add On
2. Delete the 2005 SP1 version records for Addon Framework and Fixed Assets in BFEXTDBVERSION
Goto:
Business One -> Tools -> User Tables -> BFEXTDBVERSION
Delete the row for Extension ID 'BF' and delete row for Extension ID 'BA'.
3. Logout of Business One
4.Goto C:\WINDOWS\system32 (for WinXP) or C:\WINNT\system32 (for Win2000)and delete the following files: BFFramework.dll, BFLogger.dll and BFLogger.tlb
5. Logon into Business One again and Install the Add On
it is sap notes.

Import Fixed Asset by excel

Hi Every one,
     I am importing FA in SAP B1 PL 09 but failed, with system message log " Its active depreciation areas must be the same as those defined in the corresponding asset class. I checked depreciation areas and asset class, They corresponded to each other.
     Please help me to find way to solve this error.

I'm trying to upload the Active Fix Asset to the SBO (no new).
for example:
item:                          FixAsset
Useful life :                48 (month)
Remaining Life:        12 (month)
APC(Historical cost): 10000
Accumulated Ordinary Depr.: 7500
So Value Balance: 1500
and Life Balance :     12 month

2001876 - The system does not consider the Salvage Value nor the
Remaining Book Value when you import assets

Fixed Asset Data Migration Wizard

Hi All,
I tried to use Fixed Asset Data Migration Wizard to migration my fixed asset data from 8.82 to 9 in the development server. The server only accessible by myself.
When I start the migration run, system prompt me " To Continue with the fixed asset data migration, you must be the only user logged on to this company data".
In fact I'm the only user in the company data and system not allow me to execute the migration.
What are the causes that system recognise there is another user in the system?

If you're using SQL Server, try Detach (close existing connections) and re-Attach the database again then re-login and try executing again the wizard.

Fixed Asset conversion :Transaction AS100

Have any one used AS100 for fixed asset conversion. Is this option better than LSMW. How the excel file is sorted to special format.

Cons of using AS100: -This method is suited for transferring small datasets, such as a few hundred fixed assets. The system can process a maximum of 5000 rows.
SAP recomments to use Standard excel format.

Fixed Asset calculates extra period for Depreciation

Hi All,
I have imported the Fixed Asset for 2007B for the Year 2010. while checking the import, i notice that the system calculates an additional period for depreciation.
Here is my scenario :
a. Asset Cost = 15,863.12 (purchased on 31-May-2007).
b. Useful Life = 36
c. Remaining Life = 4
The above are displayed according to import file.
At the Depreciation Tab, there are 5 rows of planned depreciation calculated. Period 01 to Period 05.
How can the system calculates 5 periods when there is only 4 remaining periods for the asset?
This happens to all the assets being imported.
Please advise.

Further information.
The Net Book value = 1762.94
with Accumulated Depreciation = 14100.18.
So the remaining 4 periods should be calculated as = 440.735 (per month for 4 months).
but it is displayed as 352.59 per month for 5 months.
The Fixed Asset is setup as Monthly Basis.
Using Straight Line Mehtod = Net Book Value / remaining life.
