Fixed in 10.5.4 (What about PPC users stuck at 10.4.11) TIGER CRASHES TOO
Something is really wrong.
(g4 733 single processor with 1.5 gb of ram) OS X 10.4.11
My problems started after "incorrectly" uninstalling Adobe CS3
Found adobe's 5 page white paper after doing traditional mac de-install
(Trashing folders from "applications")
Followed Adobe's directions for "Manual Removal"
(This broke existing CS2 install as well)
Re-installed Adobe Creative Suite 3 and uninstalled
using proper uninstaller.
Apps work fine, as long as i am working on an existing file and do a standard command-s save. Within QuarkXPress (7.31) and Indesign CS2, Illustrator and Photoshop CS2, I can Work and save. However Commands that access the directory structure (Get Picture, import picture, export PDF, SAVE AS, all crash every app.)
Reading several forums and blogs, I'v seen that this is a common problem with OS 10.5 on Adobe CS3. (The Nav Svc problem) also there was a similar problem involving version cue, the (Fix VCUI Framework Issue)
QuarkXPress, Indesign CS2, msword.
fail to Save as, or export PDF both crash w Bad access.
Using SP G4 733 w 1.5 GB ram on OSX 10.4.11
Tried New admin user still crashes
tried reinstalling apps CS2/ Quark
cannot save as or export pdf (Consistent crashing despite new admin user or
reinstalled applications.)
Have repaired permissions
have used Apple disc utility and cache cleaner
Have tried fix VCUI framework.
Have tried reinstalling CS3 and "properly" uninstalling it.
Have tried maintenance scripts/ etc to no avail
found one IP named directory in my / volumes folder... deleted it with no help to crash/ save as issue.
Turned off all fonts, tried to create new document, just 8.5x11 with one magenta or cyan box on it CRASH!

I'm a new designer at this shop and I'm unable to reformat cause this station also runs our Retrospect backups and our FTP server too.
Everything works fine in the case of opening an existing document, making modifications and saving using command-s; but a new document from Quark, Indesign, Word or anything, a new retrospect backup set.. will fail and crash the program. As will get picture in quark or indesign or export PDF.
if I install a BRAND new hard disc and start from scratch will my problems be fixed?
I certainly haven't been able to get any info out of the Disk Warrior, Drive genius, and Tech tool people. Who have told me specifically their product will not fix this issue.
Will any utilities actually fix this?
How do you tell what's broken, how it broke, and how to fix it?
Disk Utility lacking in this regard.
Oh i moved a single .XLS file and it dissappeared in the "/" directory
It would show on spotlight search, and i copied it out, but within the root directory it was invisible.. and probably was a PC excel file to begin with.

This doesn't actually appear to be an InDesign problem if you are experiencing the same behavior in other apps.
As other people mentioned, when you launch Console, what do the logs say about the crash? Try system.log, console.log and AppName.crashreporter logs and see if any new lines get added at crash time.
Do you have anything running like Default Folder? Also, check your ~/Library/Contextual Menu Items folder and /Library/Contextual Menu Items (if either one exists). I've seen contextual menu items cause crashes before.
Finally, boot in Safe Mode (hold down shift after reboot) and see if the problem persists. If it does, archive-and-install. If it doesn't, it's probably some non-Apple goodie interfering.

You need to create a user account for your wife (or yourself depending on who has the current user account). When syncing, each of you should sign in as a separate user, login to iTunes and then sync. I had this problem when my sister got an iPhone. When we did her initial sync, everything on my iPhone showed up on hers. Apple gave me this solution.

The 60-day premium trial, amongst the others, are intended to offer those who have not yet used Spotify a risk-free trial to see if it is a service that is right for them. Unfortunately if you already have a premium subscription you already know what it has to offer, so you are not eligible for the trial offer.

What about multiple users of a single computer?
My husband and I both use the same home PC, and each of us has our own DroidX mobile phone. I know that we can set up separate profiles within Firefox on the PC. Is there a way to set up the Sync so that each of us only receives our own profile on our mobile device? (I hope this makes sense...)
I have a Windows account with two profiles under the same ID. One is synced and the other is not. So, it seems, that syncing is between profiles and the answer to your question it YES -- but I haven't tried it.
What I have tried is having TWO IDs on the same PC, each has its own sync (with other PCs and the other ID). -
Nice updates/fixes but what about the reception issue?
Don't want to beat a proverbial dead horse, but what about making the IPhone 4 a better receiver of calls? My 3Gs was the BEST phone I ever owned. I rarely had a dropped call, I was able to make and receive calls in places where no phone I had owned previously could. When I read that this phone had the best reception of any IPhone (according to Apple) I went and made the switch. Yes, I read many posts where folks say just that, great phone. I am on IPhone 4 number three and all have been plagued with reception issues, thought the first two were worse than this one. I go to the same locations every day and the 3Gs sent and received calls remarkably better. Just sayin.....

if you are not using a case then you are just ... idk... slow or something.
because apple put the antenna on the outside of the phone it is easier to attenuate the signal but it also gives much better reception. i have not dropped one call on my iphone 4... i was dropping tons of calls on my 3Gs and i am in the same area.
i have tried to attenuate the signal on my phone and cannot with the case on no matter how i hold it. if i take the case off and hold the sweet spot it drops like crazy. maybe your bumper isn't covering the antenna well enough.
i got the incipio NGP for 19 bucks at walmart. if you put that case on and still have the issue then i think you are totally full of cr@p.

What about being able to close the title tool with a shortcut, not just a tiny 4x4 button?
What about fixing the title tool so it's kerning/leading shortcuts are NOT the exact opposite of EVERY OTHER CC application?
What about a simple "Select Media Relatives" command, like in FCP and Avid?
What about fixing the audio scrub toggle shortcut so that it works without having to play or use the mouse?

Your new MacBook Pro won't run PPC programs. For Parallels you need to update to the latest version 7.

What about TOO MUCH SECURITY??? I always played the SET puzzle in the New York times, which required the Java plug in. No problem, until I installed Mountain Lion, which I am beginning to REGRET. After installing the new OS, the NYT game page required that I install the newest version of Java. Now I'm completely frozen up when I try to play my puzzle. Just the stupid Java icon, with the squares circling endlessly around the coffee cup. It went on for an hour, and I finally gave up. I have to restart everything before I can use the browser again. Any suggestions??
Is playing that game worth the extreme security risk of having Java enabled in your web browser? Are you aware that Java is currently vulnerable, allowing a web site to install malware on your machine without any user interaction required? Further, that has been the case for 25 days (this time), with no fix available yet. And that's just the latest incident... Java has been involved in getting the majority of Mac malware installed over the last year.

Spotlight lists items and shows preview images. BUT what about showing the path/location address of an item in my computer.
Especially important if I've put the item in the wrong folder and what to locate it without multi-steps. iMac OS X 10.5 was more useful.
Old OSX Spotlight function automatically displayed path/location within the machine: e.g. desktop/folder/sub-folder/item.
Can I make Spotlight show the path?Press option-command and the path is displayed at the bottom of the little preview window. Press command-return and the enclosing folder opens.

I have 2 questions..
1. Can I send a link via email that when launched will open an ibook that has already been downloaded to the bookshelf?
2. If question 1 is possible, can I take it a step further and call a bookmark, i.e. chapter 3.
Our company has it's own appstore and I want to send out links to sections of the ibooks using bookmarks or at the very least take them to the start of the ibook.
I don't need to give them a link to install the ibook as they already have it installed.
Any help would be much appreciated.

The recommended solution for most families is to share the same Apple ID for iTunes and App Store purchases, so you can share your purchases, but us different IDs for iMessage, FaceTime and iCloud. With this arrangement, each person can automatically download purchases made on the shared ID (by turning this feature on in Settings>iTunes & App Stores), while keeping their FaceTime calls, text messages and iCloud data (including photo stream) separated. There is no requirement that the ID you use for purchasing be the same as the ID you use for these other services.

My wife and I own an iMac (April 2011) and just recently got iPhones. We share one iTunes account (mainly for our uploaded music from CD). Do we each need to have our own iTunes account? What about iCloud? We want to utilize the same Calendar/Contacts

One of you create a new AppleID and one use the existing AppleID.
But you can still use the items in each iTunes library.
