[FIXED] iSight on Macbook 2,1 - Firmware not loading

Running the default kernel, yet lsusb gives
Bus 001 Device 003: ID 05ac:8300 Apple, Inc. Built-in iSight (no firmware loaded)
and I have no /dev/video0. According to the Macbook ArchWiki page, I shouldn't need isight-firmware-tools. Here's my startup log from dmesg (relevant stuff appears to show up at about 4.38 seconds):

It used to be in there (id 226635 is the last one with it); should I clean it up a bit and put it back with a bit more of a disclaimer?

  • How to fix CUPS corrupted (Dyld Error Message:   Library not loaded: /usr/lib/libcups.2.dylib)?

    Hello,
After trying to change my printer settings on CUPS administrator area to allow to share my wirelless printer to my VirtualBox environment (somehow virtualbox doesn't detect my wirelless printer) I notice that this area stop to work. After it I try to update  the CUPS by installing a new version. I admint that I am a newby in unix environment and I downloaded the  CUPS v1.6.1 and installed through the terminal,
    ./configure
    sudo make
    make install
After restarting apple site no longer opened like also my home page. Other programs also stopped working and always warn about the same error described bellow. I posted my last try which was reinstall my system Snow Leopard (Mac OS X 10.6.8). Does anyone deal with this problem before? How can I reinstall at least the operation system or just fixing this library will solve the problem?
Note: The reason of using virtualbox is that I need to use a prescribed software that only works in windows environment and since I need to make work in other places the wireless printing is the only viable way to do this.

    Here is another option.
I had the same problem with my Mac OSX System 10.8.4 after update cups from 1.6.2 to 1.6.3.
I have a MacBookPro with the same system version and copy the libcups.2.dylib file form /usr/lib/ then replace the error file in my other Mac.
    1. Install cups 1.6.2 again
    2. Replace the file libcups.2.dylib in /usr/lib/ directory with this one libcups.2.dylib
Note: I added the link if you dont have an other mac in the same version available.
    This works for me.

  • MacBook Core Duo will not load pages on known working router

I've got the original Core Duo black MacBook running OS 10.6.5 that's having problems with Wi-Fi. It will connect to networks at my school, but at home, it will connect (very slowly) to my Linksys G Router that works with my phone, my iPod touch, and my Early 2008 Aluminum iMac (OS 10.5.8), but it refuses to load web pages in Safari or Firefox, as well as it will not load the iTunes Store. If I turn on Internet Sharing at the iMac, I can use that signal to access the internet. This is not a distance issue as it has worked well in the past and the router is right next to the iMac I am using for Wi-Fi right now. I have had the issue before, but it wouldn't load pages from any Wi-Fi source, so I replaced the AirPort card with a genuine Apple 802.11N card, thus resolving that issue. I have tried resetting the router and the modem, but this has not helped.
    Thanks in advance.

Have you checked for firmware updates for the router?
If you connect to the router via Ethernet, can you get to the Internet without issue?

  • HP Laserjet M2727nf - Firmware not loading to Printer

My printer display was not working so I ordered a new one.  But as I read some postings it seems to be by formatter board.  I baked the formatter board.  After I baked it, the display would show: Hewitt Packard >>>>>.  I did the below
but the firmware utility update is not going to the printer.  The display shows ***BootDimm*** Ready 2 download.
I have left the jumper on and have taken it off to upload the firmware to the printer.  Nothing has happened.   I have not even seen the display changing to erasing firmware, then programing firmware.
I baked the board and it started to work.  I then Download the firmware utility update for my printer.  I Removed the printer left cover. Turned the printer on while it’s was connected by usb. Jumper or short the 2 pin connector - the display read "ready to load firmware".  I heard the printer usb driver connect / initialize in windows-
Next I started the HP firmware update utility, select your printer from drop down list.   However the display did not change to erasing firmware, then programing firmware; finally it will display "firmware rom upload complete" - or  something close to that.  The computer did do this:  the progress bar on the firmware update utility in windows completed and displayed the smiley face (about 3 min).  Then I turned the printer off - unpluged it and disconnect the usb cable from the printer. It did not load.  So where did I go wrong.

Apple included the Gimp-Print driver "HP Laserjet 6 Series" for that printer. Does that show up?

  • HT3964 2009 macbook pro superdrive will not load discs

2009 Macbook pro superdrive will not accept discs. The loading mechanism appears not to be responding. The mechanism may be jammed as it will not allow the disc to be fully inserted. Last time I played a disc I had trouble ejecting it. I managed to get disc out can't remember how. Think the disc must have partially ejected and I managed to pull it out. Can anyone help?

    Hi kayj128,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.  This article has steps for troubleshooting the SuperDrive built in to your Macbook Pro:
Apple Computers: Troubleshooting the slot-loading SuperDrive
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2801
    Doesn't accept discs
Be sure to check your disc to make sure it is flat. You can check this by putting the disc upside-down on a flat surface. If the disc is bowed up on any side or in the center, do not use the disc because it might get stuck in the drive. Do not use discs that have anything attached to them or dangling from them (such as "sweeper" or cleaning discs).
If the drive struggles when you put in a disc or stops part-way, carefully look at the disc for labels that may be interfering. If there aren't any raised labels then try putting the disc in a few more times.
Try another disc to see if the issue is being caused by a specific disc.
Make sure you insert the disc far enough for the drive mechanism to activate. You need to insert discs nearly all the way before the drive will activate and pull them in. If you don't completely insert a disc, the drive will reverse and push the disc back out.
Allow the drive one or two seconds to accept the disc while it is fully inserted.
Reset the System Management Controller (SMC).
If the drive repeatedly does not accept discs, contact Apple or an Apple Authorized Service Provider, or make an appointment with an Apple Retail Store.
    Cheers,
    - Ari

  • Built-in iSight in Macbook Pro 4,1 not recognized.

Hi, just noticed iSight stopped working after trying Photo Booth days ago. I used before some months ago, so I cannot say for sure when stopped working. At first looking for in forums and Apple support pages, I tried reseting NVRAM and SMC controller twice and installed a clean OS in a different partition (Snow Leopard), but the problem occurs in Lion 10.7.2 as well.
At boot time, the Console log OS X trying to enumerate a bus but giving up later.

System Information/Profiler won't say there is an USB device recognized like sample bellow:
Previous I had this working as:
I suspect of a hardware problem but I am not sure if this is iSight component/part or logic board problem (maybe in USB controller). Have anyone seem this before and repaired or had a Mac serviced? I would like to try replacing iSight with a new part in after market before looking for replacing a logic board? Laptop is almost 4 years old so not valid Apple Care anymore. I can try getting both parts but cleared wanted try the iSight first as it costs about $30 plus shiping. Getting a new logic board is a way more expensive as I have to pay import duties to Brazil almost doubling the sale price. AASP probably charges $1800 to repair the laptop, mostly because of the expensive price to import a logic board.  Weigthing my options considering machine age and fix costs.
Also, I have no tried running Boot Camp (which I don't have installed) to see if get it to work somehow.
    Thanks!

    Hi,
    A Possible.
There used to be a document on resetting the Firewire ports.
Basically this involves shutting down the computer for 15 minutes with all the firewire devices disconnected.
For Laptops the Power card should also be removed.
The process allows for the numbering process to discharge so that the current numbering is lost.
All devices then get renumbered when they are reconnected.
It has never been that clear as to whether this also works for USB ports.
However it may be worth a try and it does not cost anything.

  • Intel iMac Firmware not loading

I tried to install the new Intel iMac firmware so I can try out bootcamp. The firmware installer powers down fine and then I hold the power button and it flashes but then it gives a long tone and does not update the firmware but boots OSX back up again. What does this long tone mean? Why doesn't the firmware load? Do I have to keep holding the power down until the firmware progress bar starts or just until the power button flashes? The instructions seem to say hold down the power button until the power light flashes then it should load from there. But unfortunately it doesn't. I've reset the pram but that didn't help. Anyone have any ideas?
    Thanks.
Intel iMac Dualcore 2GHZ   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

Firmware will not update if you installed the Windows hack. You will need to reformat and reinstall OSX 10.4.6 and then apply the firmware update. This fix was found by macfixit.com who had a macbook pro they had installed the windows hack on.
Once the drive is setup normally with OSX the firmware will install.

From what I can see all looks OK, like it did when it worked, but something is not at it should.
Any thoughts or ideas about what might have happen or how to progress in troubleshooting.
    All input most welcome.
I found info describing  problem with firmware loading, but it is over my head.

    Thank you mich41!
It looks like a kernel bug.
I downgraded to 3.7.10-1 then firmware loaded OK and I could play sounds.
Upgraded to 3.8.6-1 then the firmware fail to load.
Something looks not ok with 3.8.6-1.
    Best regards,
    Christer

  • I have a 2010 macbook pro which will not load past white loading screen.  What can I do?

    Hi
Can anyone advise what to do?
The laptop has not been dropped but before this happened the internet wouldnt work on it?  It has been faultless til today.

Reinstalling Lion/Mountain Lion Without Erasing the Drive
Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions: Upon startup select Disk Utility from the main menu. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions as follows.
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion: Select Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion and click on the Continue button.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.

  • Firmware not loading

Well, its finally here! I did some basic stuff to insure all was well with my mac and here we go! Time for the Firmware update 4.2.8. Load, click, and then THIS! "The DOC "G4FWUP.bin" could not be opened, because the application program that created it could not be found. Do you want to open it with "SimpleText"?... AUGGGHHHH!!! So, anyway turn out I have OS 9.1.1. Cound this be the problem? Any and all help would be appreciated from this NOOB.
    Cheers,
    Chris

    Hi, PB -
"Boot ROM Version $0004.13f2" translates to firmware v. 4.1.3, which is older than firmware v. 4.2.8.
ASP's nomenclature leaves a bit to be desired. On my G4/500 (AGP) ASP states "Boot ROM Version $0004.18f5" which equals firmware v. 4.1.8 - I know this to be true because I installed the 4.1.8 update, but not yet the one for 4.2.8.
The first firmware update for post-(PCI) G4s was 4.1.8. It was later replaced (superceded) by the 4.1.9 update, which did not live long - it was pulled when it became apparent it caused some audio-loss problems; very soon thereafter the 4.2.8 update came out. The 4.2.8 update will install on top of any previous firmware version on those machine models for which it is intended - the G4 (AGP), (GE), and (DA) models.

  • I need to reinstall my mac OSX to my macbook but it will not load up past the "safemode" login

I need to reinstall my macbook, it has a very difficult time loading up to the "safemode" login (I have to hold down the shift button as I start the computer up) then none of my icons show up after logging in... I don't know what is wrong with it! I tried to reinstall after the screen comes on (sans the icons for ilife, ical etc..) but tells me that the volume is not on and cannot continue? huh??? should I just take it in?

    Buy a new phone.

  • 32DV504B -TV Firmware not loading/showing on TV

    Hi all,
I have downloaded the latest firmware upgrade for my TVs (x2) - 32DV504B. I have copied the downloaded file to a USB drive and plugged into the TV. I cannot seem to get the file loaded at all.
I have tried numerous USB drives, numerous formats (FAT, FAT32 etc) - exe on it's own, extracted but no matter what I do I cannot get the upgrade done, I have tried to boot into the USB, I have tried the settings, search for upgrade - white bar just stays at zero saying searching.
    any help would be appreciated.
    Regards
    Barry

Emmm….. I’m wondering where did find the firmware for this TV model... I checked the Toshiba download centre and this TV isn’t listed…
I guess the firmware update cannot be performed because the firmware might not be fully compatible…

  • Bought apps on itunes for new verizon iphone 4. synched iphone to macbook, but apps did not load to iphone

I don't know why the apps that I downloaded on itunes do not appear on my iphone 4 after synching with my MacBook?

  • My MacBook Pro Retina does not load some pages' graphics

As written in the title, when i try to load Apple Online Store page for example, it loads only text and links.

Safari as written in the tags, but the problem now is solved. It was a general problem not caused by my Mac, but it was only an Apple Online Store updating. There is also another problem with safari, but I'll create a new topic for that.
