Fixed my wifi sync (was stalling on "waiting for sync to start")

I am posting this tip so others may be helped (i didn't see any forums addressing this issue specifically):
I was having issues with wifi sync.  I have an iphone 4s running 5.0.1 and a late 2011 model macbook pro running lion 10.7.2.  Itunes match is turned on on both devices.
I would have successful usb syncs with my iphone 4s, however wifi sync would stall at "waiting for sync to start".  I could initiate the sync on both my iphone and itunes, the problem was the stall.  My ipad synced over wifi fine, so the culprit must have been the iphone - which is where i started investigating.
1st attempt to fix - reset all network settings
-did not fix the issue
2nd fix - reset all settings (note: i did not choose the erase and reset option)
-did finally fix the issue.  I was frustrated initially because i didn't think i would be setting the device back up, however you go through the motions of "restore from icloud or set up as new phone".  I restored from my previous night's backup on icloud (which I didn't think would work) but it did end up fixing the wifi sync issue.
So, if you are having similar troubles with itunes wifi sync, I suggest "reset all settings" and "restore from backup" before you go ahead and give up to "set up as new phone" (unless setting up the iphone as new is not an issue for you - then it doesn't matter)

Thank God I found your post!
I had noticed that whenever my iTunes was open and my iPhone on wifi it had started to act weird (appearing, disappearing, syncing, not syncing at all, taking ages to do so, stopping before it was over, etc). I had a look at my logs and noticed that I hadn't been able to wifi sync my iPhone since January 5th. Last night I decided to give it a try and started tinkering with iTunes and my iPhone 4. I restored from iCloud last but nothing worked. I was decided to unistall and reinstall iTunes until I read your post.
So I tried restoring network settings and it didn't work either.
I decided on resetting all settings, but I chose to restore from my latest backup on iTunes instead of the Cloud just in case. and voilà, it worked!
I don't really know what's going on with iTunes and iOS 5.0.1, but I've been having problems for some time.

    Hi guys,
On a random base (daily, weekly) we're experiencing major log-in problems on our Windows Server 2012 R2 Remote Desktop Services farm. The VM's are hosted on Hyper-V 2008 hosts and we're not using Citrix techniques etc.
Users are reporting that they cannot log-in, the log-in sessions hangs with a blank screen when loading their user profile (e.g. Please Wait For The User Profile Service).
In the System event log of the server on which the user is logging on the following errors are shown:
    Source:        Service Control Manager
    Date:          23-12-2014 7:28:01
    Event ID:      7011
    Task Category: None

    Keywords:      Classic
    User:          N/A
    Description:
A timeout (30000 milliseconds) was reached while waiting for a transaction response from the UmRdpService service.
…and after 30 (or sometimes 60) seconds, the same error only another service (in random order):
A timeout (30000 milliseconds) was reached while waiting for a transaction response from the UmRdpService service.
…and after exactly 30 seconds, the same error only another service:
A timeout (30000 milliseconds) was reached while waiting for a transaction response from the UxmSms service.
    etcetera, with the following errors:
A timeout (30000 milliseconds) was reached while waiting for a transaction response from the Netman service.
A timeout (30000 milliseconds) was reached while waiting for a transaction response from the AudioEndPointBuilder service.
A timeout (30000 milliseconds) was reached while waiting for a transaction response from the WPDBusEnum service.
A timeout (30000 milliseconds) was reached while waiting for a transaction response from the NlaSvc service.
The Portable Device Enumerator Service service failed to start due to the following error:
The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion.
A timeout (30000 milliseconds) was reached while waiting for a transaction response from the TrkWks service.
A timeout (30000 milliseconds) was reached while waiting for a transaction response from the UmRdpService service.
    These errors are logged continuously.
An administrator cannot solve this since he isn't able to login in as well (console or remotely), only a hard reset of the VM is possible to use the affected server again.
I took different steps to solve this problem without any success, like:
    - Installing the latest Windows updates
    - Removed unnecessary printer drivers, print monitors and print processors (no local printers/drivers are installed, only Remote Desktop Easy Printer driver is used)
    - Searched different forum posts, but found only hotfixes for Windows Server 2008 R2.
Can someone please help me with this annoying problem?
    Many thanks!!
    EDIT:
Of course is increasing the time-out not really an option here... http://social.technet.microsoft.com/wiki/contents/articles/13765.event-id-7011-service-timeout.aspx

    Hi Jeroentjuhh,
1)Do you see this problem on all VM's or only on Windows 2012 R2 server?
2)Are these VMs' in hyper-v cluster?
3)Do you see event id 56 or 50? Please see the below link if it helps you to resolve these events.

  • Can my iWeb '08 site be fixed,or do I need to just wait for an iWeb update?

Ever since my "upgrade" to iWeb '08, the text in my webpages does not appear. I haven't changed any fonts or colors. I have had to put my website back to it's iWeb '06 version.
Cyclosaurus mentioned that my "text box elements has attribute style.visibility set to hidden" and that I might be able to correct it if I were javascript saavy, I should be able to turn visibility attribute to visible with a few lines of javascript.
How do I do this? Does anyone know any quick javascript that I could cut-and-paste, maybe within an iWeb HTML Widget, that could counteract the "attribute style.visibility set to hidden"? Perhaps I can do this until Apple fixes this Bug/Glitch in iWeb '08.
Can my iWeb '08 site be fixed,or do I need to just wait for an iWeb update? Please help.
    Thanks.

  • Sync stalls at waiting for changes to be applied

Can anyone fix this, its driving me round the bend.  Brand new Ipod Touch 5th Generation won’t complete a sync.  It gets stuck on the last step - "Waiting for changes to be applied".  I've looked at many different forums but all the information is just misleading.  There must be a definitive answer to this, all software is up to date.  I've been an Itunes user for 6 years on my 3rd Ipod, this is just intolerable, if I can’t find a solution this time then I'm finished with Apple and Itunes.  Please help.

  • Was stuck on "Waiting For iPhone." Now it won't respond to the charge chord

My phone has been giving me a lot of trouble today and I've been looking all over for tips and tricks, but so far, nothing has helped.
It's an iPhone 4. One of my apps was being glitchy after a recent update, so I decided to delete it and reinstall it. When that didn't solve the issue, I decided to shut my phone off and turn it on again to see if it made a difference. Since then, it's been stuck in a loop. At first, it was stuck on the Apple logo. I managed to get it into recovery mode and connected it to iTunes, but only got as far as the "Waiting For iPhone" message.
After several attempts to get it to recover, it no longer responds to the charge chord. Pressing and holding the top and home buttons only gives me the Connect To iTunes image and when I reconnect it to my computer, ... nothing.
What should I do? Is my phone lost for good? If I take it to the Apple Store in another city, is there anything they can do, or am I out of luck because I'm out of warranty?

The message that you're getting about the USB port is Windows rather than the Shuffle, ignore this as it will all work anyway.
How were you formatting the iPod shuffle? Using Windows? If this is the case I'd assume that was probably a bad choice that Windows asked you to make.
In any case I would download the latest iPod updater from http://www.apple.com/uk/ipod/download/ - open this and then plug your iPod into your computer - update the firmware and then everything hopefully should be sorted

  • MPI350 stalls at "Waiting for IP config"

I have been working since Dec 26 to get my wifes Thinpad T40 with Aironet MPI350 mini PCI Wireless card to connect and work with my Linksys wireless router at home. My T60 works fine . The MPI350 has been replaced with a different card and I get the same response. This is true at home, work and the local coffee shop running WEP, LEAP and no security respectively. The common behavior is to be able to "Associate" which I think is a physical connection but any attempts to ping or use the Web are not successful. I get the feeling this is software / config. issue and the T40 Thinkpad laptop is a lease return that I suspect worked fine before the hard disk was reformatted and the latest drivers / utilities installed for XP Service Pack 2, ( SP2) . I am specifically wondering what Driver / Firmware combination will work with XP SP2 for the Aironet MPI350 adapter ?

I want to move this to "Getting started in Wireless" ... and have opened the same conversation there. Need help on how to cancel this thread.

  • ITunes wifi sync on Windows 7 64-bit

I know there are many many threads on wifi syncing being unreliable, especially when running iTunes on windows.  I've been trying to get wifi syncing to work to my Windows 7 (64-bit) machine ever since it came out a year ago and I've finally got it working reliably.  For me the answer was to enable SNMP (through add/remove windows components).  I'm assuming SNMP is a required component for wifi syncing to work correctly.  If this is the case why doesn't apple advertise this fact?  There is no mention of SNMP in the support article on wifi syncing.  Is iTunes supposed to enable SNMP at install, and somehow it failed on my machine?  Or is SNMP not required, and it's only a coincidence that somehow turning it on on my machine fixed some other configuration problem?
In any case I hope that this post can help some other people fix their wifi sync problems.

SNMP has nothing to do with iTunes.  I think you are looking at a coincidence.

  • How can I get my iPod to sync properly when it gets stuck on 'waiting for changes to be applied' during syncing

My iPod gets stuck at this point every single time I sync it and it will not sync again unless I factory reset it. It also will not sync on Wifi because apparently it is 'waiting for "HP"' (is that my HP laptop? Who knows...). I am syncing on a Windows 8 laptop (since having Windows 8, I have had this issue). Google hasn't provided me with any answers.

Same thing has been happening to me and I havent been able to find a fix. Itunes has basically rendered my phone uselsee. It wont see it, let alone sync it.

  • When syncing to my PC iTunes gets stuck at step 7 of 7 with "waiting for items to copy" - do you know why?

when syncing ipad2 to my PC iTunes gets stuck at step 7 of 7 with "waiting for items to copy" - does anyone you know why?  The rest of the sync seems okay

i don't know why it happens. but i know how frustrating it can be. the same thing happened to me. i posted a few inquiries in different apple forums and didn't get any ideas of how to fix it. i did however find a solution on my own.
i found that if i did a "restore my ipad" that it fixed it. i was hesitant at first because i was afraid of loosing valuable information. but much to my relief i didn't loose any thing. other than an hour of my time.
this seemed to fixed my problem of being stuck on "waiting for items to copy". my ipad now syncs both wired and wirelessly without any hang ups. however i would suggest that if you are syncing a large amount of data (movies for example) that you do it wired and not wirelessly. i found that it takes a lot longer to sync movies wirelessly.
    good luck

  • Wifi sync deletes music

Whenever I do a wifi sync on my iPod touch, it will delete all of the music on it.  To get it back I have to go to itunes, uncheck "sync music," apply that, then recheck "sync music."  However, the weird thing is with my iPhone 4, wifi sync works perfectly.
Anyone else encounter this, or know how to fix the wifi sync problem?
(I've done many resets on the iPod.  Also, a sync with the cord works just fine.)

I have the same issue using an iPod Touch 4G running 5.1 and an early 2011 MacBook Pro running 10.7.3. Anytime I let the iPod sync automatically over Wi-fi, the sync deletes all of the music, videos, and podcasts. The weird thing is, when I plug the iPod into my Mac, when I look at the iPod inside of iTunes, it still appears that everything is still on the iPod. It's almost like the sync messes up some type of index file, because it appears that the files are still on the iPod, but the iPod's OS refuses to recognize them.

  • Itunes 11.1.4.62 breaks wifi sync

WiFi sync has been working fine here for years.
Installed iTunes 11.1.4.62 and it no longer works properly.  Sometimes I can get it to do a backup and calendar/contact sync okay.  I cannot get it to do an apps sync anymore.
What I see on the screen is that iTunes initially recongizes my iPhone 4s.  When iTunes fails, it says it's looking for my iPhone, can't find it, and deletes it from my devices list.
I tried completely uninstalling all Apple software and reinstalling.
iTunes syncing via USB works fine.
When iTunes disconnects from WiFi, I can still ping my iPhone so there isn't a network issue.
Environment is Win 7 64 bit.
BTW, I have the WiFi photo app installed, and I can connect to the iPhone via WiFi to transfer photos using this app even when iTunes is failing.  So I think this is strictly an iTunes problem.

Same thing here.  I finally got wifi sync working again by downgrading to iTunes 11.x.2 .
The trick is to make sure you remove all components of apple first.
Apple software updater, App support, Mobile device support and bonjour.
    Then reinstall 11.x...2 .
    On another note:
Not to further antagonize the issue but I wish whoever makes itunes over there sees this and gives users a easier way to go back to iTunes 10.7 or fixes these wifi sync issues for good and brings back some of the nice features like coverflow from iTunes 10.

One that I can not get to work is the WIFI SYNC to my Netbook running WIN 7 Starter.
I am seeing errors with BONJOUR on the netbook and have reinstalled it and set up firewall accordingly I hope.
I think it is WIN 7 Starter not supporting the SYNC
Does any one else run WIn 7 starter and have got the sync working.

Well not sure what I did but the wifi syncing has started to work. I note I am not getting the bonjour errors I saw before.
A number of things I have tried but did not seem to work at the time were
    Modified firewall settings
I uninstalled all bonjour applications and reinstalled, not just installed over the top.
    Rebooted machines
    Rebooted router
After every one of the above I did test and found it not working but it has now.
It may have been ok a couple of days ago as I had not tried it for awhile.
Not a big issue but glad it is done.

  • IMessage not working - stuck on "waiting for activation"

    Hello all,
I have had my iPhone 4 since June 2011 and have had no issues with it until the past few days. I noticed that I was having troubles sending iMessages to fellow iPhone users - something I never had issues with before. Now and again a message here or there would send as text rather than iMessage, but it always went back to iMessage after a short time. This morning however, iMessage was completely not working, with anyone - I even sent a test text to myself, and even that would not send as an iMessage (normally it would). Reading through various Apple Forums it told me to try to turn off, then turn back on my iMessage feature....however, as soon as I turned it off and tried to turn it back on, it stalls at "waiting for activation" and now does not work at all. I have been waiting for roughly an hour, and still nothing.
I have tried a hard reset. I have tried various "fixes" found on Apple forums, but it still is not working. Has anyone else had this problem and do you know a fix? I'm not sure whether this is an iPhone issue or an issue with Verizon's carrier service. Any help is very much appreciated.

    Something might be really wrong.
Do u have good signal. It might wait for activation if not a really good data connection because our house is not having trouble with that part.
I have have had an iphone since april 2011 and ive had a problem recently as it sends as text although I have iMessage on and send as text off. I know imesage is only iphone to apple product. It one way doesent recognize the recipent is an iphone or apple product. But sending back it worked. Also it shows as an iMessage but then turns into a text.
Verizon tech support and customer service blamed it on apple also said  have a text block on verizon end of the phone to solve it but I have a text block on the phone that it comes with saying it wont send as text if imessage wont work. They didn't believe there's such thing but whatever. I think a text block on Verizon thats just a work around but i think there should be a real resolution and not blame apple for everything. I have had less issues with this then others. I like to text and understand costs for it but I shouldn't be charged for a messege to another iPhone when I have done all procautions.  I like to pay for things that i desirve and not things that technically if things work right. both phones have ios5 or above both have I messege on and send as text off. This has happened off and on for awhile but it has been months since it happened last and I got charged for 7 texts sent and 7 recieved.
Sorry for the rant but I see I'm not the only one.
When I send a messege with 2 people it sent as a picture message. Is that normal?
