Fixed number of pulse using agilent 33220A

Hi all,
I am trying to produce five pulses with Agilent 33220A function generator ..
i am attaching my VI for your review...
the problem is ,, i can able to send the command for digital pulse of required parameters ,, and the function generator starts producing constant pulses...
but i want only five or fixed no of pulses ,,,
i have tried using the loop concept and not succeded ,,
Any suggestions would be grateful...

You need to configure a burst in TRIG mode and send a software trigger to start it. Refer to the 33220A manual for more details.

If you had a Vector Signal Generator, this would be more controllable using something similar to this forum.
Otherwise, the only way to control time on the 565x would be to use OOK modulation scheme. This will allow you to turn on the signal for a little time On and Off.
There is a shipped example called "565x Digital Modulation.vi" (on versions 1.3 and later of the RFSG driver) that can perform this task. Basically it uses the function named "niRFSG Configure Digital Modulation User Defined Waveform.vi" to write the user bit sequence and with property nodes you will configure the OOK scheme and the symbol rate (refer to specifications of your card for the possible values).

The demand of my application is that i can not replace for loop with a while loop.because i need fixed number of iterations and as far as i know fixed iterations could be only with possible with the for loop.

You can execute a fixed number of iterations using a while loop by comparing the iteration count to the number of iterations you want and wiring the output of that comparison (e.g. Less Than or Equal To) to the continue (or stop) terminal of your while loop. Which comparison you use depends on personal preference, where you wire the desired count and the interation count, and whether you're using the while loop as Continue if True or Stop if True.

How to display a fixed number of rows in a page when using CL_GUI_ALV_GRID?? lets say 500 ?? because my display table it may contain in some cases 10.000 and evidently I can t see all of them..
I have a button in my toolbar witch triggers this event
(display 500 records ) but I don t have the logic to do this only with methods of CL_GUI_ALV_GRID.
can you tell me a standard method of CL_GUI_ALV_GRID witch can help me do this?? any hint will be good..
Till now I was used to add a column to my structure witch represents a flag that is a number corresponding to every 500 records (a batch containing 500 records )
first       500 - flag -> 1
second 500 - flag -> 2
etc..but I m convinced that exists a way of doing this more easy..without damaging my structure..

if method SET_FILTER_CRITERIA doesn´t help, I think that you must work with 2 internal tables, a counter and a loop for filtering the records to be displayed:
case counter.
when 1.
     loop at int_table1 from 1 to 500.      "<-- your table with all records
       move int_table1 to int_table2
    endloop.
when 2.
     loop at int_table1 from 501 to 1000.
       move int_table1 to int_table2
    endloop.
etc, etc.
Call grid-->SET_TABLE_FOR_FIRST_DISPLAY
   exporting
     IT_OUTTAB = int_table2                "<-- instead of your currently table int_table1

Seems a little suspicious, though its kind of a generic error message. Lots and lots of google hits on that one.
Are you sure none of the libs or executables for xorg-* got damaged before the system called for an fsck? The power went out on me once and my hard drive "forgot" about 75% of my kernel modules, although it was a conventional hard drive and not an SSD.
try re-installing some packages:
pacman -S xorg xf86-video-ati ati-dri libgl
(any more anyone can think of?)

Is your copy of that bootchart that blurry or is flicker messing with it? It looks like its been resized even at largest setting. I can hardly read it.

How to use counters of PCI 6251 to count the number of pulses

Hello,
I have inputs from an optical encoder {pulse train} and i need to count the number of pulses for a short period of time to estimate the speed of the DC motor. Could you please tell me how to use the counters in PCI 6251 DAQ. I found something on DAQ STC, whichs says the input pulse should be connected to PF0 {ctr source}, but i have query where do i get the output {number of pulses counted in a particular period of time}.

In MAX (Measurement and Automation Explorer), if you find the device (DAQmx devices) and right-click, you can select pinouts - which should contain a table telling you which pins are what PFI lines.
Then, in labVIEW, you need to generate some code to use the choosen coutner in a task to count digital edges. If your not sure on this, go to Help>>Find Examples>>Hardware I/O>>DAQmx>>Counters.. and take a look at some of the code provide.
ps. It seems (maybe just your wording), but your expecting the counter output pin to provide the number of counted edges - this isn't the case.

Displaying page total on a page with fixed number of lines

Hi ,
My requirement is to have a fixed number of rows per page (say 20) and to have a page total beneath the table containing the data.I am using a RTF template.The columns in the table are
Order
Amount
Page Total : 3000
For including a page-break after 20 lines, i have added the following code.
For - each ______________
<?if:position() mod 20 =0?> <xsl:attribute name="break-before">page</xsl:attribute> <?end if?>
end - for_______________
This limits the no of rows per page to 20.
I have tried 2 ways to display the page total but both don't seem to work Can someone please point what i am missing here?
1) Using add and show-page-total
I added the code (<?add-page-total:at;'Amount'?> to the Amount data column in the template and then used the <?show-page-total:at?> in the page total data column to display the total. But this doesnt work.It doesnt display any value.
2) Using Variables:
I declared a variable (<?xdoxslt:set_variable($_XDOCTX, 'RTotalVar', 0)?>) before the table. Then, i used the (<?xdoxslt:set_variable($_XDOCTX, 'RTotalVar', xdoxslt:get_variable($_XDOCTX,'RTotalVar') +Amount)?>) in the Amount data column to calculate the sum. I then used <?if:position() mod 20 =0?> <?xdoxslt:get_variable($_XDOCTX, 'RTotalVar')?><?end if?> in the data column of the page total. But this doesnt work. The variable loses its value when it is displayed outside the table. Why is it so? How can i declare a global variable? I am not sure why the variable loses it value when taken out of the table. I would want it hold the value through out the document. Is my understanding correct?

How to get a single pulse Using Burst MOde?

Harlow Peeps! Just want to know how to get a SINGLE pulse generated by the AGILENT 33220A function generator? the results i get it's in the burst MODE and everything is running smoothly and fine! it's just that i want to get a single pulse froM it only and not repeated triggeriong of the pulse...

To make a call to a fixed number from a j2me application

hi all,
i am working on a mobile application. i want to have an option for the user to make a call to a fixed number by pressing the call button from within the application. as far i understand we can use canvas to detect a key press and the platformRequest() method of midlet to make a call... but what i use is in my application are all forms. by using forms is my requirement possible? or if i need to use canvas alone, what can i do if i need to have an input mode like a text box also.please help how to achieve this....

Create spreadsheet file with a fixed number of rows

What is the most straight forward way to create a series of spreadsheet files each with a new file name and fixed number of rows. We have a data acquisition process that creates a new 1D array every 2 seconds. We'd like to build a series of spreadsheet files each having two hours or 3600 rows of data. Is there a best way to do this in LV9?

Use the low-level FileI/O Vis with Write to Text File.vi where you open a new file with every N iteration like this:
You just have to convert your 1D Array to string before.
If you would like to have a new file every N hours you should create a FGV which checks the elapsed time using Get Date/Time in Seconds.vi, which is more appropriate for longtime applications.

Learn the number of pulses created in a finite pulse train

Hello
I am using the PCI-6602 Board to produce a finite number of pulses with counter0.
I want to know how many pulses that are already created by the counter, while my program is running and show this number on an indicator on the front panel of my VI.
What is the best way to do this with LabVIEW?
Of course I can use another counter to count the pules and route the output of counter0 to its input.
However I wonder if it is possible to solve the problem without using another counter, because DAQmx internally already uses a second counter to produce the finite pulse train so it should be possible to read this counter, isn't it?

However, I wonder where I can get such detailed Information about the internal functionallity of the DAQ-devices and the DAQmx driver? Please let me know where you get this information from. (So that I can avoid using this forum in the future)
Speaking just for myself --- the source has been generally the school of hard knocks. I started doing a lot of special timer/counter work right around the Y2K timeframe. The legacy driver now known as traditional NI-DAQ was then the only game in town. The programming and terminology under trad. NI-DAQ tends to require you to understand the hardware at a lower level. The programming used more counter-specific terminology like Gate and Source signals.
So for a lot of this stuff, I came into DAQmx with a good understanding of the low-level hardware capabilities, and I just needed to tromp around a bit to find the right syntax. Consequently, I'm not much help for pointing you toward info sources as I haven't relied on them much. Meanwhile, good luck with the self-teaching but don't feel compelled to "avoid using this forum in the future."

Finite pulse train generation... how to count number of pulses?

hi guys,
this has probably been solved a hundred times but i just couldnt find it!!
i have a pulse train generation happening on my ni usb-6211... using FREQ OUT, using a divisor on this, and routing it to PFI4.
id like to update my VI so i can specify the number of pulses....
im pretty much a noob at this stuff so any help would be greatly appreciated!! thanks!

No problem at all, we are here to help. What I’m going to do first is to point you to a bunch of examples for that might give you a better insight of the capabilities of the card in terms of finite pulse generation. Unable to setup fixed number of report columns based on a dynamic query

Hi guys, I need to find a way to replicate below output. Unfortunately it cannot be done using the column group feature due the fact it will create not so many rows as I need. In the below case it would create
only four columns. I need 10 columns. Basically for 100 m 6 columns would remain blank . 8 for 200 m .I'm using SRSS 2008R2
Query results:
Race Name Ranking
100m Andrew 1
100m Rachel 2
100m Chris 3
100m Drew 4
200m John 1
200m Billy 2
Report output should look like:
Race 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10
100m Andrew Rachel Chris Drew
200m John Billy
Any suggestions?

As I understand, you want a fixed number (10) of columns and you want them whether or not there are 10 rows returned by your dataset for a given race.
What is your dataset?
What if your dataset returns 15 races of a given type? Do you want 15 columns then?
Assuming your dataset is TSQL, you can use a matrix in your report if you tweak your dataset query. First, you need to add a "default" set of data that guarantees your 10 columns. This can be done with a set of UNION statements:

SELECT '100m' AS Race, '' AS Name, 1 AS Ranking
UNION
SELECT '100m' AS Race, '' AS Name, 2 AS Ranking
UNION
SELECT '100m' AS Race, '' AS Name, 3 AS Ranking
UNION

SELECT '100m' AS Race, '' AS Name, 5 AS Ranking
UNION
SELECT '100m' AS Race, '' AS Name, 6 AS Ranking

This gives you the 10 columns. In the matrix, set row group to Race and column group to Ranking. Set the intersecting detail cell to:
=Max(Fields!Name.Value)
This will give you 10 columns unless you have more than 10 rows returned for a given race.

Select a fixed number of random rows

Hi,
I just would like to select a fixed number of random rows from a table. That is, I would like to get 5 rows, without specifying the row_id, and the selected rows should "always" be different. Just as picking 5 balls out of a big box (which is filled with many balls).
Is there a way to easily put it into one sql statement or do I have to write a workaround in the programming language I use?

Note that it requires that you
1) Generate a random number for every row in the table
2) Sort the table by those random numbers
which is a significant performance hit if the table is large.
