Fixed "Runtime error ... in an unsual way"

Everything was fine till one day, inexplicably, I got a
"Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library
Runtime error!
... it in an unusual way. Please contact the application's support team for more information."
To fix the issue, I just navigated to my Lightroom directory where my LR catalog stuff resides and promptly renamed a file (in my case) "Lightroom Catalog.lrc.lock" to some junk value and then restarted LR.
I guess one could simply delete the above lock file one things are up and running again.

(LR 1.3.1 on Windows Vista)

I also have Windows Vista and got the same message after about 2 weeks of using Lightroom. I will try this and hope it works!! Thanks

  • Runtime error; terminate in unusal way

every time i open itunes, it opens, than a sec later an error message comes up saying...runtime error! This application has requested runtime to terminate it in an unusal way...i've seen other posts about runtime errors..but none that say this..and in those posts it seems quicktime does not open either..but my quicktime opens fine..what's going on?????
      Windows XP

I'm getting the same thing. When i first open itunes
a box pops up and says software application has
encountered a problem and needs to close...
then another box pops up and says microsoft visual
c++ runtime library then runtime error
    program:c:/programfiles/itunes/itunes.exe application
has requested the runtime to terminate
I am experiencing the exact same problem and error messages. This started on March 26th, everything was fine until then.
I tried a solution prescribed in another thread which was: to rename the itunes pref files from the application folder and move them to desktop, and then relaunch itunes; did not work. I did launch itunes under the guest account on my computer, and it works fine. This is a remedy, but I would like to completely fix the problem.

Uninstall your existing copy of iTunes. Delete any copies of the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64Setup.exe) installer files from your downloads areas for your web browsers and download a fresh copy of the iTunes installer from the Apple website:
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
(The current build of the 11.1.4.62 installer was changed a few days ago, which fixed the bulk of the reports of MSVCR80.dll/R6034/APSDaemon.exe/Error-7/AMDS-could-not-start trouble ... but the build number on the installer was not changed. So we're trying to make sure you do the reinstall using a "new good" 11.1.4.62 installer instead of an "old bad".)
Does the install with the new copy of the installer go through properly? If so, does that clear up the error message?

    Try:

  • Can't fix runtime error

I'm getting the Visual Runtime error described in the Adobe support section, but none of their DLA stuff applies to me and I'm quite certain I don't have any other programs running that should interfere with it. I have Pro Tools installed, along with a control panel for the audio card it needs, but those and my ATI settings are the only things running when I try to launch it. Any suggestions?
I'm using Windows XP SP2 on a custom-built PC with 1.75 GB RAM and a Athlon 64X2 at 2.4 GHz.

One solution to the C++ Runtime bug is plugin related.
Whenever I see this, I also get a crash to desktop.
However, I stumbled across the solution almost by accident:
Launch Premiere Pro CS3, and the runtime error happens when it hits - for the first time or during a rescan of the folder - certain VST Audio Plugins.
Kontakt 2, Kontakt 2 16-Out, Kontakt 2 8-Out are all guaranteed to trigger this error.
The solution is to keep relaunching until it succeeds - which it will, eventually.
It is the default loading of VST Audio Plugins that seems to cause this as part of the "Media Layer" or whatever it is.

  • How do I fix runtime error R6034?

I recently recieved a new update for iTunes and so, I checked the box to update it. It was having problems and told me to go under tools in order to only download that one item. Even after doing that, it was still having problems. I then decided to delete it and reinstall via the iTunes website. Now I am trying to reinstall and recieve this message that says "R6034 An application has made an attempt to load the C runtime library incorrectly." It will "install" it, but when I press on the desktop icon, the R6034 error pops up again with another window that says "iTunes was not installed correclty. Please reinstall iTunes. Error 7 (Windows error 1114)". I do not know how to fix this and would appreciate any help with this matter, thanks.
